Best strength gym around. Ample weights for powerlifting and weightlifting, and any bar you could need. Upstairs is the machine area. Plenty of machines/ free weights for use. At peak times you may have to wait for a machine, but not nearly as long as you would wait at a commercial gym. 24/7 access is always appreciated, and a great community within. Hey! I just moved to SLC from Georgia a few months ago and just started coming here 3 weeks ago. I feel like even in my short time here I have met a handful of friends and friendly faces I recognize every time I come. I am so happy to be apart of such a great gym that supports people's growth and progress in the gym. I was looking for a trainer so I reached out to BMB. Zac reached out promptly, put me in contact with a trainer, our schedules didn't line up, so he suggested I check out the FitBliss Fitness Ladies Lift program. I've been going to LL at BMB for 2.5 months and I love both. This is a great gym. It has a ton of quality equipment. The people working out here are always friendly as you navigate your sets. It's definitely a lifting gym, not just rows of treadmills, but there are pelotons, bikes, rowers, and a stairclimber available. Since I've been going they've regularly fixed and added more equipment. I love the locally-owned, small business vibe; it feels like everyone is there because they want to be there and get a good workout in. I really enjoy going and have no complaints. read more

Big Mountain Barbell sells $10 day passes, which was perfect for me while traveling through SLC last December. I hate missing my workouts when I have to travel for work, so finding BMB was serendipity. They were extremely accommodating to even let me into the facility during the late hours I typically workout (8pm+). As I told them during my visit, I would sign up immediately for BMB if I were a SLC resident. As someone who works out almost entirely with barbells, this club has everything I could need, including a few racks I hadn't even ever seen before. I was delighted I could even make use of their weightlifting belts, as I hadn't brought my own while traveling. I hope to make use again of their day passes for any future work travel I have in SLC! read more

I've been coming to Big Mountain Barbell for a little over 6 weeks now doing their AM group classes with Zac and Lynndsey and have to say I absolutely love their program! Both are extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I learn something every single day I'm in the gym, from perfecting my form on a lift or working on correcting my APT. Every day is a new set of challenges that are exactly that, challenging. However its fun which makes the time fly by! Not only am I learning a ton about fitness but I am learning about nutrition as well. Learning how to eat. MACRO counting is a perfect fit and I really enjoy it and has helped me see some quick results while still being able to live and not be on some crazy can't eat anything diet. The best gym I have found since moving to Utah. I have been a member for about 6 months and my only regret is that I didn't find it the day I moved out here. The owners are super nice and always around. The trainers are super knowledgeable, friendly, and willing to help anyone. I would highly recommend the gym and every trainer there. There is also top of the line equipment unlike other local gyms *cough* Vasa *cough*. Chains, bands, dozens of barbells, bumper plates, 6 squat racks, and much more. 10/10 I will be sad when I have to move back west without my Big Mountain Barbell family. read more

The trainers here are super knowledgeable and helpful, but aren't afraid to kick my ass, which is good. I enjoy the group trainings and always leave feeling like a million bucks. This is not some stuffy, pretentious gym where everyone is flexing in the mirror. It's laid back, but hardcore, all at the same time. Definitely try this place. read more

In SLC for the solar power convention, I happened on this gym while looking for a place to train. BMB is one of the two or three best locations for serious training I have ever encountered. The first floor is all about barbells. Every barbell is color-coded with tape so you know if it's for deadlift, squat & bench, or Olympic. Lots of bumper and olympic plates, and most calibrated I think. Monolifts for squat *and* bench. They have specialty bars as well (cambered, yoke, etc.). They have a belt squat machine! Upstairs is rigs, dumbbells, cables, sleds, etc. Swiss bar, which is awesome. The owners are extremely friendly and helpful, with none of the attitude I sometimes encounter at well-equipped serious training facilities. Uber from my downtown hotel took only 15 minutes. If you're in SLC for any reason and you are looking for a place to train, you *must* go to Big Mountain Barbell. read more

Kristen is so awesome and really knows her stuff! She continually challenges me and pushes me further than I could do on my own. I love working out at Big Mountain Barbell as it's more of an intimate space but has everything I need for a killer workout. I love that Kristen gives me a nutrition plan along with detailed workouts to do on my own on other days and adjusts everything as often as needed. Definitely not a cookie cutter plan! read more
