me and my son moved out of state i call the gym to cancel the rep tells me its $19.95 so i pay it and he says its cancelled then i get numerous calls from paramount acceptance that i still owe so i call back and they say your not cancelled and you have to pay another $75 dollars to cancel it beware they dont tell you that they say just call us and we can cancel it i had to pay 5 months worth of payments to cancel its a rip off dont join here or be prepared to be ripped off in the end!!!! read more

Just be aware -- DON'T SIGN UP FOR PERSONAL TRAINING. I signed up because I was curious and only wanted to try it for 3 months. Without any clear warning or reminder, they auto-renewed me for another 3 months, and now I'm stuck paying for extra sessions I never intended to commit to. On top of that, the personal training didn't even provide much value -- it felt like I was paying just to learn how to use basic equipment. Customer service is extremely hard to reach, and when you finally do get in contact with someone, they tell you they can't do anything about it. No flexibility, no accountability, no help. This whole experience feels misleading and frustrating. Be careful before signing anything here -- especially personal training contracts. You might end up locked in longer than you expect. read more

This review is for the Van Winkle facility. I'm sure Rich Nelson is a very competent CEO but he needs to put the hammer down on the COO or whoever is responsible for maintaining the facility. However the Van Winkle facility has not had a functioning HVAC system in the separate free weight room in three years. Today January 15, the room was 58 degrees, in the winter is never gets above 64. IN the summer it is just the opposite. I have given the new manager two HVAC contractors, which verified the units are very old and not functioning. They gave VASA bids in December but have yet to hear back. I use these licensed contractors on my office buildings. I'd have 72 hours to remedy a situation like this or risk loosing our 15 year leases. We get issues taken care of, I really hope VASA administration can do the same. read more

firstly let me say this place is a trap, they put flashy things in your face to sign you up then when you don't want to use their subscription anymore cause this location has broken machines often and overcrowded to the point you can't use the machines even if you do pay for the subscription. furthermore if you cancel within the first 6 months it's 25$ fee and if it's less then 30 days they will charge you every fee they can including the full price of the month subscription. Please add more benches that lean back to adjust in this area so more people can access the space. DON'T PUT KEYS OUT IN THE CUBBLE HOLES - I got my car stolen from the women's locker room inside one of the lockers. The lady took my keys from my jacket and walked out of that gym. Apparently, there is a lot of this happening at that gym per Sandy officer telling me when I reported my car missing. I see people putting keys on the counter and in the cubie holes and it's an easy target to get your car stolen that way. I'm looking for another VASA as it's mentally crippled me in going to the gym since that incident. Good luck and wear a fannypack or put your keys in your pocket. read more

If I could put zero stars, I would. My husband's LOCKED locker was literally pried off the hinges and someone stole his gym bag and personal items. Staff response was impassive and slow. Also, the bathrooms are always disgusting. The VASA in Bountiful is way cleaner and client-friendly. read more

I must say, after not getting to work out in a gym in California for a long long time due to covid restrictions, getting to work out here when I came from out of town was bliss! What a gloriously large gym with functioning machines and many equipments and so much space at my disposal! I got a couple of hours of sweating and getting sore (in a good way) here, and it was an amazing feeling in my travels. If I could live zero stars I would. This is the most misleading, awful experience I have ever had with a gym. They are a completely joke. I haven't had any issues at Vasa. Love the friendly staff at the front desk. So many classes to choose from. I tend to stick to studio flow. Each instructor has their own style. One of my favorite things about yoga, besides holding a pose for a super long time, is the motivation quotes by the instructor. You will leave the gym with a happy face! read more

I'm going to mostly let the pictures of this deplorable gym do the talking. Vasa is disgusting and the maintenance is some of the worst I've seen. A fancy ad campaign and new flooring doesn't cut it when the conditions are garbage. If you'd clean up your gym and fix issues in a timely manner you guys would be much more successful and probably keep your members. I've talked to management on several occasions and they tell me they've put in many, many requests to have equipment fixed that has been broken for months, with no avail or response from corporate. You guys should be ashamed taking peoples hard earned money and lining your pockets with it. I'd gladly pay more for a clean, well maintained gym! 9 times out of 10 you may find a single toilet that is working or clean enough for use. Currently there are At least 15 pieces of equipment that are out of order or broken at the Sandy location. Get it together Vasa! read more

It just keeps getting worse here at the Sandy, UT location. So on the back row there are 2 AMT OPEN STRIDE elliptical machines. The one on the left has give at the bottom of your step which jolts your knees especially when you're doing more of a stair climb stride and the one on the right the left pedal gets stuck when not in use in the upward position. I have to spend a minute or 2 struggling moving back and forth to get the machine to turn on to get the left pedal to go down, sometimes banging my knee with the pedal, ouch! The guy at the front desk put in a maintenance request over a week ago for the left machine and nothing has been done. I know there are other elliptical machines but these 2 are the only Adaptive Motion Trainers (AMT) with the OPEN STRIDE that allow you to change up from a stair climb motion to a running motion. Normal ellipticals cause injuries for me because it's the same stride the entire time. Please fix these machines ASAP or I will have to find a better gym. See attached pictures! Also still no progress on getting our row machines back. We used to have 3 before the remodel 6 months ago and ever since we only have 1 now. When the 1 we have is in use I don't have time to wait and can't finish my workout. Multiple people have reported this issue for several months and NOTHING IS BEING DONE... WHYYYYYYYYY!!!!! One of the worst gyms possible for billing. We told them in September last year, we wanted out, but they somehow forgot" to cancel . We finally went in to them, but apparently you can't cancel if you have an "overdue " amount. Of course, they refused to take responsibility for not canceling when we told them. You can't cancel in person with something overdue , so we call, and now the bill is 75 for the months we were "a member " pluses extra charges foe being late . Totally bill 135.00. This gym has okay, customer service they have nice and knowledgeable employees and Personal Trainers. I had a bad experience with one of the employees yesterday, when I called about my vehicle key that I left there by accident. After calling and expressing the situation, the employee verbally treated me very rudely. Grant it, I didn't talk loud enough after I explained my situation. After he checked for my items and couldn't find them, he very rudely explained that he couldn't find them and when I asked for a manager he said that they would say the same thing. read more

The decision to remove the racquetball courts is insane and will cost Vasa a lot of memberships. I play with a weekly group of rotating 8-12 players twice a week, and a 20-person text group, and we all are canceling. My car was stolen from the VASA Sandy parking lot on Saturday 2/19. Someone went through my locker, stole my keys and took the car parked right out front. All of it was caught on camera and the manager at this location, Sean, has dodged every phone call I've tried to have about getting the footage. He gave me the phone number to call to try and request it, which ended up being a 3rd party billing phone number for a company who does not even directly work for VASA. The cop who took my police report said "this happens at this Sandy location all the time. And this gym specifically is really bad about releasing the footage" he said that other VASA's he can go in and the managers will immediately pull up footage to help catch people. Not this one. I cannot explain what a sick, violating feeling this is to know that someone went through my things at a place I felt safe in. But what's even worse is how the manager has treated me in the aftermath and completely written me off and refused to help. Defeating. That's the only word I have anymore. I'm defeated. 50% of the time I went to this location the scanners weren't working so the front desk kids let anyone and everyone just walk through. The night this happened the scanners were down within the 40 minutes I was at the gym, which makes me think they withhold footage because they know they don't keep track of who enters. This entire experience with VASA has been unbelievably horrible. I've hit every dead end trying to get ahold of someone to help me figure this out with no response. If you care about your things or even feeling safe in a place where you should be able to at least trust the staff to look out for you in the slightest - do not join here. read more

THEY ALLOW MALE STAFF IN WOMENS LOCKER ROOM. While I was showering a male staff came in. Once I got out I asked my sister in law if a male was in here and she replied yes. There was a male staff and a women staff looking at something to fix. They did not alert the locker room or close it off while letting a male in. We went to the front desk to complain and the staff was very rude. Saying, "it's not big deal, we have to get things fixed and a women was in there with him" we replied that it didn't matter. Women walk around naked in there and there's under age girls. All they said was, "we will address it." read more

It's a gym...where is ESPN, sports, fitness related things, music videos? If I could give this place zero stars I would. My wife went to a yoga class and dropped our 1-year-old(who can't walk yet) at kids care. When she got back from her class, the kids care employees were talking amongst themselves not paying attention to the children. Then when asked where our child was, they can't find him for 3-6 minutes, he was found inside a locked bathroom in the kids care (could have drowned in toilet, stood up and fell and hit his head, many what ifs. Upon speaking to the manager of the Sandy Vasa - Jennifer - they refuse to give us camera footage unless they are subpoenaed, or a warrant is served for the video footage. This happened on Monday 1/6/25. I have called and asked for Jennifer Tuesday, and Wednesday and was told I would get a call back by end of day each time and it never happened. The one conversation I did have with Jennifer, she said a bunch of new measures were being put in place in kids care for the safety of the children, one of those measures were that the employees were required to stay at their stations with the kids and not leave until picked up. Went to work out on Wednesday evening and the kids care employees again, are talking to each other, not at their stations, and not paying attention to the children. I've now spoke to the District manager and he still won't release the video to me and won't give me an answer when I can see it, and won't give me an answer on how long my son was locked in the bathroom and no one noticed (fishy). So basically, if something happens at a Vasa kids care, they won't show you what happened to your child unless a crime was committed against them (trying to figure that out, can't get any help, Sandy police wouldn't help either). Great business practices by Vasa to their customers. Would not recommend dropping your child off here, they don't pay attention to the children and definitely don't care for your child either. read more

Absolutely scummy buisiness practices. I wanted to cancel my membership, and they still charged me for several months after the fact. And on top of that they have a cancellation fee. I was planning on renewing with them come spring once the virus dies down and money is a little better, but after seeing how scummy, predatory, and how unwilling to respond to messages they are, I've learned my lesson and will be finding another gym. Well, if I ever move to Utah (which is a definite possibility) I would totally be a member of VASA. Never before have I seen a gym with so many machines and such a great variety of things to do...pretty much ever. The gym used to be a Golds Gym until it changed ownership recently. Now it's VASA and it is excellent. The gym is massive -- honestly one of the largest gyms (if not the largest) I've ever been to in my life. It has a pool, racquetball courts, a basketball court, a group fitness area, a cardio area, free weights and even a cardio cinema where the gym plays movies while you work out. The staff was super friendly and welcoming. The membership fees are totally reasonable given how much stuff you're getting with the membership. I would totally recommend this place to anybody who wants a full gym experience where you're totally treated like royalty. Bar none this is one of the best gyms I've ever seen. Ever. read more

Haven't been in here since the remodel. Im soooo disappointed with the site facility management of the new space. I mean its tons bigger but has so much less that I can do. You have barely any boxes which I use alot, no tire, barely any bosu balls, no bulgarian split squat machine, barely any pullup areas and I didnt see any dip bars anywhere. This gym could have expanded cardio and free weights. They have all these lifetime crud machines that are huge energy suckers and turn off alot. Ive never seen a lifetime fitness machine I liked. They're rickety. You literally got rid of everything I like and use. You have all these confused bored members wandering around. Gee I wonder why. And the locker room is still ultra tiny. You couldnt fix that? Only positive is there is lots and lots of room to do no workouts with nothing. read more

I've been going to this specific location for over 3 years. Having been to most of the others around Salt Lake. The staff at this location are very friendly, convenient location, kept up pretty well. Good use of the space. Some of the cardio machines can be out of service as they're very temperamental, however they have been fixing them quite regularly. Love this location and the use of space. Completely new squat racks and cable machines as of Summer 2020. Which used to be very limited. Only slight would be having some better black rope attachments for those cable machines. There's about 2 and tend to be used frequently by many. read more

Horrible customer services, John the General Manager for the Vasa in Sandy is disrespectful and and careless about customers needs. My first bill was around $260 and the March bill will be around $300. The poor conditions of the showers it's gold and diamonds compare to the horrible customer services starting with the GM. They turn off the lights and leave the facility completely dark at 11:55 pm so you have to get out in darkness and it's water in the lockers room so I had an injured when I slipped because the water and the GM is more worry about closing procedures than customers Safety. Corporate doesn't list a phone number to care about customers issues and the GM laugh when I asked for the corporate phone number. read more

When I lived in the area I skipped the VASA mayhem and headed towards XCEL. However, now I'm a VASA member and since I had errands to run down this way I decided to try out this location. I don't think this is your best gym option for the area. With that said, this VASA is still pretty decent for VASA standards. The layout is a little weird. You have all the machines on one side and then a big wall that separates the benches and free weights. This makes it pretty hard to superset things, but you can adjust. They had multiple leaks going on throughout the gym with 5 gallon buckets to catch the mess. But, with all that said... this gym is still fairly new, clean, and loaded with decent equipment. You can definitely get your fitness on and reach pretty much any goal. And VASA is affordable, so really, no excuses. Get the work done! read more

There was a physical domestic violence incident in the parking lot. It was brought to the front desk employees' attention and they refused to call the police because "what happens in the parking lot isn't their responsibility". And hour and a half later, the incident was still going on. These employees should be held responsible for their lack of action.
