Just went in for the 3rd time in two weeks to have my rear brakes done, and for the 3rd time I was told that they had too many other jobs to do and wouldn't be able to get to mine today and that I should come back another day. Keep in mind that I'm not coming in 5 minutes before closing, today was at 1 p.m. the other two times were also in the early afternoon. All I can say is that I'm glad that they have so much business already because from now on I'm going to be taking mine elsewhere. By way of update, since writing this review I've taken my car to two other mechanics, one being a different Big O location, and both have told me that I absolutely DO NOT need to have my rear brakes done. So this 'urgent' repair that the guy at this location told me I needed to do ASAP actually wasn't needed at all! So not only were they wasting my time but they were wasting it in an attempt to rip me off by doing unnecessary repairs. So it looks like all the negative reviews on here have been correct and this location is filled with dishonest people. Now I've officially moved from just taking my business elsewhere to telling everyone I know to avoid this place like the plague. Also keep in mind while reading the reviews on here that this location gives a discount to anyone that leaves them a positive review. Seems incredibly unethical to me to buy good reviews, not to mention that if a business' only way of getting good reviews is to bribe customers then what does that say about the service they provide? ***Sept. 13th update*** Yes I have another update, boy this place is the gift that keeps on giving. This whole ordeal started when I brought my car in for an oil change, that was when I was told that my rear brakes needed to be replaced but they couldn't do it that day (this one actually was close to closing time, the subsequent 3 times weren't), So they just did the oil change that day. That was a little over 1 month and about 2,000 miles ago, and for the last week or two my car was running a little strange and I got an engine oil pressure warning light so I took it in to a jiffy lube to get the oil changed. There I was told that there was oil leaking from something that wasn't tightened properly the last time the oil was changed(I didn't catch the name of the part, I am not a mechanic. He mentioned a gasket and a drain plug but I'm not sure which one he said was done incorrectly). So they waste your time, lie to you to rip you off, AND they're incompetent that's quite the triple crown. read more

My son worked for this big o for awhile and I can honestly say that I"m glad he doesn't work for them any more. They treat their employees with no respect and when my son asked about some tires for me, they couldn't give me the deal that my niece offered from the big o that she works for. They are all business and really don't care about their employees or their customers. read more

HORRIBLY UNSATISFIED! I took my car in last fall to get brakes and an oil change done. I like to keep my car nice, so I purchased the upgraded pads and rotors, and the full synthetic oil change. When it was all said and done, it cost me over $800. I was fine with the price if the work was done right; but it wasn't. The front brakes were squeaking at lower speeds, and it didn't go away. To make matters worse, my car was leaving drops of oil on my driveway every day after I had the service done. After 6 weeks of the squeaking not going away, and oil dripping on my driveway, I took the car back in to have them fix it. They fixed the oil leak (they hadn't tightened up the drain plug enough). They didn't know what was wrong with the squeaking pads, so they just replaced them again. That didn't fix the problem. It had now been months since the new pads were put on, and they were squeaking as well. I had the dealership check them and they told me the brake hardware simply didn't fit my vehicle well; that I was fitted with a (one size fits all) type brake pad that didn't fit snug. I went to Autozone, bought my own pads, installed them - and fixed the problem. Should have done that to begin with. I assumed Ryan and the Big O crew would know about brakes, and oil changes - but apparently that's a bad assumption. Expensive lesson for me.... read more

I took my car in for an alignment. I was told that they could not align my car because the front end steering linkage was bad and it would be $900. to replace all the parts and then align the car. All the linkage had been replace one year ago and the car only had 6,000 miles on it since the steering linkage was replace. I declined the repair and took the car to another dealer, who told me that the steering linkage was like new. This Big O store are totally dishonest. Do not do any business with them. read more

Initially I had issues at this store after picking up my vehicle. It took some time to finally take my car back in to look at the issue. I give 4 stars because they ended up taking care of the problem and my car seems to be running fine after. Minus one star for some communication errors that occurred even trying to get my vehicle seen. read more

I came into get my tires swapped to winter tires. A guy came in 15 mins after me. He was chatting up one of the guys who work here like they we're related. He was done in 30 mins and he got his tires swapped too. I've been here over an hour and I'm still waiting. I know we are suppose to help family but, it's suppose to be first come first serve. read more

I took a 2009 Lexus GX 470 to Big O American fork for a pre-purchase inspection as I had concerns about heavy rust under the car and it had a pull to the right when driving it. The manager was super nice to put it on the rack and walk me thru the underside inspection, he said really nothing to worry about, I asked about the pull to the right he said he had just done an alignment on it yesterday from the dealership but would do it again. His recommendation on the car was it was in great shape. I made the purchase and then decided to put bigger wheels on and a new suspension system upon completion at a different tire store in Bountiful they informed me they couldn't do an alignment because the cam bolts on the lower control arms were so rusted they couldn't be moved. They would need to cut and remove to bolts and control arms and replace everything. In hind site now I realize Big O American Fork and the dealer must of had an arrangement to give false reports in order to sale bad cars. I would recommend you go to a honest auto repair and tire store for your needs. These guys are totally dishonest. We what goes around will come around for these guys (hopefully). read more

I have used a lot of Big O tires throughout the wasatch front from Orem to Bountiful. This one has been the worst by far. They always try to up sell you and then they don't even stand behind their work. I got an alignment in May then 3 months later they said I needed to get 4 new tires and another alignment. They are horrible mechanics and I would not trust them to do anything on my car! I will never go to this location again! read more

I had an issue i needed to get fixed with my tire same day and decided to buy a whole new set. It was the end of the day and i was the last one they could squeeze in. They were eager to make the sale but not so much to do the work. I got my car back and all 4 tires were filthy from the tire change and shortly after leaving the place, my sensors came on saying that 3 of my tires were 10 PSI below normal levels. Big O in AF was my go to store for years. After ownership changes I will not go back. They always look for ways to add additional charges or repairs and I would end up spending twice what I thought I would pay. It has happened every time I have been there so now I go elsewhere. read more

Terrible! I took my truck here prior to deployment. I ended up getting new tires and a front wheel bearing. My wife drove the truck while I was gone and didn't have anyone else touch it. When I returned she told me there was a grinding noise. Ended up that a bolt from the front caliper came out and tore up my wheel and rotor. They failed to properly secure the bolt. On top of that they stripped one of my lug nuts and bolts. When I called Ryan about it he didn't want to even offer to make it right and said I could bring it in for another quote. read more

Did a good job on my tire rotation/oil change and checked my alignment. The alignment was just a teeny bit out - right on the edge - and the tech said he wouldn't pay $90 if it was that close on his own car. I kept the alignment printout so I could compare next time. Good communication. read more

Big O @ American Fork saved us while we were on a road trip. Our tire blew out on the interstate and once we got towed to their location they completely took care of us. They scrambled to find our tire size and got us out of there as quickly as possible, knowing we were in a tough situation. They even fed us hot dogs and let our dogs come inside to escape the heat. I can't thank them enough for their kindness and hospitality to two out of towners. They really helped us turn our stressful situation around. Can't beat kindness like this. read more

I took my boat trailer into the American Fork Big O at 8 AM on 7/14/2015 to have 2 new tires put on it and have the axle bearings repacked. I was told when I called the day before this would only take a couple of hours. I told Justin there that I would be back in the afternoon. I arrived at 4:45 to pick it up and the tires were done but the bearings hadn't been touched. Kolton, the manager told me that they would have it done by 6:30 even though they closed at 6:00. I went home and changed clothes and returned about a quarter to 6 and drove by the trailer and it hadn't been touched yet. I went across the street to a parking lot to wait for them to do it and shortly a mechanic and Justin came out and put grease on the outside of the bearings and then put new dust covers on. I waited until 6 and pulled over in front and Kolton was out front, I asked what was up and he said they weren't done yet and would call me. I then asked him what about if the old bearing were bad could he find new ones at this hour. He said he would try. I pulled away and only 2 minutes later Justin called and said they were done. I came back and asked them if what they did was considered repacking the bearings?? I know that it's not because over the years I've repacked a few bearings.I told Kolton that he was a liar if he thinks this fooled me and I must mention that earlier before I came back he did say he wouldn't charge me. I told Justin at this time that if this is repacking the bearings that it's a good thing I'm not getting charged because I could do that myself with my grease gun at home. He was very adamant that this is considered repacking the bearings. I called him a few bad names and told him I was cutting up my Big O Tire credit card and would never come back. I asked who the owner was and some guy that wasn't even in a uniform got up from the waiting area and told me to be more civil and said he doesn't know how old I am, I'm 64, he said let's take this outside and we can settle this. What a flippin jerk. I have been going here for several years. However when the ownership changed things went bad quickly. Their communication and customer service are poor. In June 2015 I took my car in for tire rotation and oil change. They said the EGR valve needed replacement for $600. After I got my car back it didn't run well . I took it to my mechanic and he found that the oil change had not been completed and the car was extremely low on oil. .The check engine light kept coming on, so in Sept I took the car to the dealer. They said that the EGR valve needed to be replaced. Funny thing the dealer only wanted $300 to fix that. The car now runs great again, but I will not return to Big O read more

I have been coming to the American Fork Big O for for all my tire and brake needs for all my cars for many years and have always been very happy with the service there. Went in recently to change out my snow tires and was not at all pleased with the service. I was informed that it was under new ownership. When asked for the new owners name and when he would be in so I could explain to him why he was losing my business, the fellow helping me just said, "whatever". I will not be going back. read more

I called Big O and they gave me the best priced tires for my car and ordered them for next day delivery. I came in, they replaced my tires and had me in and out really quickly which is something I really appreciated because time is valuable! I received EXCELLENT service at Big O Tires in American Fork (748 E State Street Location). I ran into a little emergency (picked up a stowaway hitch pin with my tire) on the road after work... I realized this problem when I parked outside of my house. At that point, most tire shops were closed (trust me, I called a lot looking for someone that could help me NOT wake up to a flat in the morning). This Big O locations was also "technically" closed, but Parley answered the phone. He told me that he would stay open to help me out so I didn't have a bad day tomorrow. I got to their location ASAP, and he was very friendly. The service was fast (the technician, Trevor, was like lightening). No one grumbled about having to stay late, not once did I feel like an inconvenience. In fact, Parley was even willing to answer my (perhaps) silly questions about the tire patching process (I like to figure out how things work). I cannot emphasize this enough... it is an absolute rarity to find customer service like that anymore these days. This Big O location was the 6 tire shop that I called hoping to find help in my emergency... the others either did not answer or were quite clear in letting me know that they were closed for the day.... but not these guys.
