*********** Update 01/21/2025 PS: Lexus Truck model is hard coded in alignment software to find my SUV UX 250h in system. Owner needs to better train staff to explain this to customers. Jury still out until realigned at Valley Lexus dealer in January 2026. Owner and I repeated alignment measurements to no avail. Camber cannot be adjusted and -1.8 smacks of a manufacturing defect per a Lexus factory Technical Service Bulletin L-SB-0023-20 Applicability to 47 models 2002 - 2021 June 23, 2020 including UX 250h. Bumping rating 2 stars until January 2026. *********** Working with owner to reshoot and hopefully remedy next week of January 20, 2025. Driver rear camber should have been corrected to - 0.75. Instead Merced Big O Tires made it worse going from -1.7 to -1.8 and charged me $119.95 1/13/2025 where others charged as low as $70 for a Wheel Alignment. Big O erroneously printed an invoice showing Make 'Lexus Truck' instead of Lexus. I proved they could manually add vehicle but cannot correct invoice. I have been going here for probably 10 years? All but one oil change on my vehicle has been done at this place outside the first few at the dealership. Josh is EXCEPTIONAL. All these guys are. They go above and beyond every single time. Every time. Even on just oil changes. Brakes, shocks, struts, and pulling a dead rat out of your blower motor... they do a great job. And when doing more in depth work like 100,000 mile maintenance, they communicate exceptionally well. They explain complex problems in simple terms, and even if you're an idiot about cars you can walk away understanding what needs to be done (with your dignity in tact). The work has always been done well, done on time, and done at the fair price we discussed. No surprises. My husband uses this business exclusively too- Big O Merced runs circles around the customer service a dealer provides. Love this business and I can't imagine choosing to take my car somewhere else. Be ready for the ol bait and switch. They'll tell you 1 price on the phone then when you get there, try and charge you more. I called and asked for a quote for a specific service and when I got there they conveniently left off stuff that I wanted done(and had specifically asked about when I called). I went to Big O Tires for a pre-trip inspection, and they recommended a tire change. After the replacement, my car started bouncing badly on the highway, forcing me to cancel my trip. The experience was awful. They tried to charge me again for diagnostics on a problem that only began after their "inspection and tire change." The tires were clearly not balanced properly, yet they asked for more money to correct it. On top of that, they pushed unnecessary services under the excuse of "figuring out the problem." A complete waste of money and time, I'm highly dissatisfied with their service. read more

Passing through Merced on 99 and got a flat tire. Showed up at Big O in Merced 30 min before closing on a Friday and were very well taken care of. They ordered a replacement tire which arrived as promised the next day. Got the new tire mounted and back on the road. Big shout out to Steven and Angelo for taking good care of us. It was so good I came the next day with my wife's care to get her oil changed. Each time I was quoted a price and that was the price. My cars were both done early. This morning I found an oil change coupon at Big O Tires. I made an appointment for 2pm. Upon arriving I presented my printed coupon. The gentleman at the front desk told me that he could not honor the coupon since he would loose money. He offered me $10 off the regular price. It sounded like a typical bait and switch operation to me. I left the store and called corporate headquarters. They gave me a case # and told me they will get back to me within 72 hours. I was referred to these "kids" (a relative term) by Mr. Soto, regional manager for Big O Tires. The background is this; Big O is EXTREMELY spotty. So far Merced Big O has been the sixth Big O I've visited, the past experience in Ukiah Big O did some shot work and I had to drive out of the way to visit Petaluma Big O to fix what Ukiah didn't do; BALANCE THE NEW TIRES! With that fixed, I own a Honda Element 2007 and ever since the previous work was done, my VSA light came on at random times and after a while, stayed on. Mr. Soto suggested Merced Big O since I was in Mariposa, CA and it was near. The first thing I noticed was a trashy attitude on the phone when I spoke with one of the "kids". He was curt, irritated that he had to deal with this; "Who is going to pay for this?" He went on with scenarios and finally I made an appointment. One thing is standard with Big O and I had complained to Mr. Soto about it; they will not drive the car before or after and these cars have computers so they "plug up." These outlets are BUSY so the quality of the work can be questionable. Attitude is important. When I went in, the guy on the counter stared at me with his eyes wide open like he was taking a drug (he was not), STARED at me like I was an alien and, flick, alien to millennials. Nasty attitude that improved a little. Again, THEY DON'T DRIVE THE CARS!! Mr. Soto had probably mentioned it and after he scanned the computer, he had another guy drive the car around the CORNER, gone five minutes. As we know, you need to drive the car at speeds that will manifest sounds, sensations like shaking and so forth. WHAT CRAP! AROUND THE CORNER TO SATISFY THE OLD GUY!! I am a sociologist and generations have their characteristics. Millennials, not to the last standing one are careless, presuppose that you are an idiot and THEY are intelligent, talk over you (the guy at the counter replaced staring at me with the afore mentioned talking-over), rude, and they JUST DON'T CARE and are the poster generation for narcissism. Big O Tires are kinda bad! There is no standard, they are individual franchises and at 50% good, in other words out of the six, three were BAD and Merced was so bad, I had to shoot them a "traffic finger" with this review. The other two, at least I like the people on the desk but this guy in Merced was kinda weird and condescending. Advice to him; you never know who you are speaking with. read more

Took my 2020 Silverado 2500HD in for an alignment. Got my truck back and noticed the steering wheel was pulling to the right side. Took it in again and afterwards, even more pulling. According to warranty, they will only redo the alignment once, if not correct the first time. Not sure what to do now. read more

Years before yelp, Terry and Margaret (owners) shop took care of my wife's Jeep when she and our two tiny daughters were stranded on the side of the road, on a Saturday afternoon. The tow truck dropped them off as I was working out of town, and the team found a crankshaft sensor failled, so the engine wouldn't run. The dealship parts dept. was already closed, but an aftermarket part was found in Merced. The got the part, staying open way past their closing time, and repaired our Jeep! Just to replace tires and did alignment, they made my traction light came on and never fix it and told me my sensor was bad. Even I replaced sensor, they still can't fix it. We had a flat tire driving down the 99 to Fresno, and we had to get to Fresno to the hospital to see my mother-in-law. We went to big OO tires. Originally, we were told we would have to wait our turn but when the gentleman behind the desk, Mr. Martinez saw that we were anxious to get to the hospital, he immediately repaired it himself. He got us on the road in 25 minutes. We found however that we had left our key behind with him as we drove off to Fresno. When I contacted Josh at big O tires the next day, he was kind enough to meet me on his day off to give me my key. Central valley people are the best! read more

Excellent, top of the line and honest!! I am a traveling medical professional and it is always scary to have to need car repairs where you do not know the reputation of the mechanics. Hector and Josh were upfront from the beginning and never trying to hard sell me. I was having shaking in the steering wheel when braking at higher speeds as well as loosing air in a tire. They were Super honest giving me several options regarding my rotors and pads including possibly making it home to WI where a family member could do the work for less. They were very reasonable for CA in pricing to just do it here. My car is running like a charm now. Ask for Josh or Hector and tell them Sue sent you. Haha, no I don't get any kickback. This place was recommended by friend. So, I went online, picked out my tires, got my quote for $555.84 plus it stated the would be a mounting fee minus a $50 rebate, I made my appointment and was relieved that it was easy. I then received a call from Margaret confirming the appointment and asking for a deposit. (I did question the deposit but my friend had good things to say about this place I gave my cc #). I showed up the day of the appointment, was greeted by Margaret, I told her I had an appointment for new tires. She made small talk with me while she asked me to sign the estimate. I was in the moment, I signed, and then sat down in the lobby still conversing, I was offered coffee and told about the free wifi. A short time later she informed me there was an option to purchase an extended warranty for an additional $21 per tire but I would have the option to purchase or decline when my car was done. I told her I was not interested. Half hour later another customer come in for tires and I observed she made small talk and had them sign the estimate without confirming anything on it. They signed and she continued the small talk and I got that feeling in the pit of my stomach that something was not right. I took out my estimate and saw my cost estimate was $849!!!!! WTF!!!! There was a tire protection plan already added and a TPMS service kit charge 4 for a total of $39.80. Not being a mechanic I googled what it was it was a sensor that I had no problems with. I then went up to the counter and asked the guy, NOT Margaret, what TPMS is and why am I needing to purchase it. He told me it was a sensor for the tires, I asked why am I having to replace them, he said it was recommended for older cars, I pointed to the date on my estimate and said my car is a 2017, I purchased it brand new in 2018 so I asked him "2 years later, it's an old?" He the said they had already installed 2 of the TPMS but Margaret put down the wrong part # so instead of being charged $9.95 I will only be charged $7.95 each since they had already installed 2 of them. The guy removed the warranty and accurately charged me for parts I didn't need and I didn't see Margaret for the remainder of my wait. When my car was finally done, I paid $757.12. I then called the Ford dealership and was told that the TPMS last about 10 years and if there was an issue my car it is still under warranty. I now have these cheap ass air caps that has their logo on them which is a constant reminder of this awful experience. I DO NOT RECOMMEND AND I WILL NEVER GO BACK!!! read more

I got a flat while driving on the freeway and after a good bit of time on the side of the freeway putting on my spare in 106 degree heat, they saw me right away and were super helpful getting me in and out in less than 10 minutes! Great experience on the phone and in person! I called to get my tire patched up after running over a nail and they were able to see me 15 minutes later. Patch up for one tire was $25. Staff was friendly and very helpful. Service was quick and professional. The tools, spare tires, and parts were placed back nearly in the storage compartments. I could barely tell that anyone was going through my car. Highly recommend a visit and will gladly come back for any tire services in the future. read more
