I had a disappointing experience at Big O Tires in Pinole. I came in because I found a nail completely embedded in my tire on my 2022 Honda Insight. My tire pressure light never came on, so I suspected the nail hadn't punctured through. The guy at the front counter was actually very nice and helpful with checking me in. But when I went to the back where the tire workers were, one of the techs told me my car "doesn't have tire pressure sensors." That is completely false MY 2022 Honda Insight DOES have TPMS. Then they tried to tell me I needed a whole new tire for $280 without showing me any real damage. The attitude from the workers in the back made it seem like they assumed I didn't know anything simply because I'm a young woman. It felt very dismissive and unprofessional. I trusted my gut and went across the street to NFS Tires for a second opinion. The tech there removed the nail, sealed the hole, patched the tire correctly and charged me $45. He confirmed the tire was totally fine and did NOT need to be replaced. Big O Tires gave me incorrect information about my own vehicle and tried to upsell me unnecessarily. Meanwhile, NFS Tires was honest, quick, and affordable. If you're in Pinole, go to NFS Tires instead they actually treat customers fairly. read more

Had a tire blow out on my car and was looking for a tire shop that opens on a weekend. I found Big O Tires in Pinole and made an appointment online for the next day. Got an early appointment, went there was a couple of people ahead of me, when it was my turn told them I needed a tire. Got the information and had a couple of tires that match for my car and took the one that was the better quality. Told me it would be like 1 to 1 1/2 hour and I said I'll wait in the waiting room. Time passes and my new tire was on my car. For being a Saturday, even though it took a bit, I found their service pretty efficient and the tire I got was a good value and have no issues with it. I went there for the first time having done business with other Big O's throughout the years and was very happy. However, this place needs to improve on its customer service to start! I walked in and there were at least four to five people working there doing nothing and no one greeted me or otherwise acknowledge my presence until one gentleman who later identified himself as the manager acknowledged me and told me he'd be right with me. After that another guy then decides to say can I help you and then was not forthcoming, discourteous and borderline rude. I wasted my time going there. I only learned that the first gentleman was a manager as I asked one of the workers outside if I could speak to the manager to share my concerns and it was he who came out. I went in to replace my tires; they suggested I do a series of services for the car. Everything that my car needed got done elsewhere before the last step, replacing the tires. As soon as I left, my car began to make a knocking sound from the front right wheel well going over bumps and uneven roads on the way home. My dad checked everything out and to our surprise the bolts for the struts were loosened which was not the case before I went in for new tires. They are asking for a lawsuit. read more

Someone earlier described this place as Circus Clown show. That was being kind. Got my oil changed of Friday 12/1/2023, drove it home and didnt drive it till Sunday. 20 minutes into my drive from Pinole to South City I get the Low Oil level warning. Pulled over and sure enough the oil level was low. They didn't even refill to the low level mark as shown in my photo. Will call them on Monday to see what they say. I went at Belmont Pinole shop. I brought in my Tesla Model 3 for tire repair, it had a screw on right read wheel. I brought it to Costco, no luck, Sam Clubs no luck. The personnel's were courteous, easy to talk to and I feel welcomed here. I would definitely recommend this shop especially if you own a Tesla Model 3 or Model Y, the cost of repairing the tires is much reasonable than having Tesla repair it for you. read more

Had a terrible experience! Had a flat tire and called at 8am, they said they had to order the tire and it would be there at noon. Also that I had to pay a $50 deposit for them to order the tire. Paid the deposit and brought my car in at 8:30am expecting that they wouldn't get to it until noon-1pm (when the tire arrived). -Then got a call from them at 10:40am saying my car was done. Luckily I said "wow that was fast, the tire got there before noon?" The guy on the phone had no clue as to what I was talking about. Then put me on hold only to come back on the line five minutes later and say he made a mistake, the new tire was en route and they would call me when the work was done. -Then got a call at 1:12pm saying the new tire had arrived and I was next in line. -For the next three hours I waited and finally called back at 4:30pm. Again I was told I was next in line and they would call me when it was done. -Still no call back, so I called at 5:55pm (five minutes before they closed at 6pm). The person said, "Oh we were just about to call you, your car is done and ready to pick up." -Arrived at 6:15pm (thank god they were still open, even though they closed at 6pm) paid $300 and got my car. When I opened the vehicle they didn't even recalibrate the low tire pressure signal on the dashboard. Wow really :( read more

I never go to Big O but it was urgent. It was getting dark, end of day, raining and one of my tires blew out/ripped ,etc. I barely made it to the shop (Pinole). Roadside would be a long time so I asked if they could please just put on my spare to get me home about mile away. Yes..& then they came back with NO way..my spare is not there is too old, not usable...'we' will not put it on for you. At that point I said ok knowing not much about tires and wanted to get home. Then they proceeded to sell me one brand new tire for $125. I went back to wonderful Richmond Tire (where I've bought three sets of great AWD used tires) and they said the spare was fine to use to just get me a short distance. Then , I went back to BIg O to talk to new manager..explained it all and pointed out nothing was noted in original receipt. He said..no..we did the "right thing"..and your tire shop people are liars (he said that several times). " With AWD you cannot drive w/one odd tire, ever , so that forced me to buy a 'new' used set of four ($350) . I am left with one useless brand new tire. read more

He told me my tires were no good and if he tired to fix it that it would crack the tire?? mind you the tire price was 440$ a tire! Vaz did a great job installing my tires so 5 stars to him! However, Normally I won't talk bad about a brotha but Gerald Butler at the reception counter has that "Uncle Ruckus" syndrome foreal. Not very welcoming and truly needs to take some customer service courses. His whole demeanor comes off as foul. My mother warned me about him when she recently came in, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt, as I have had good customer service experiences in the past. This business also seems to have high turnover with employees being fired or quitting. After spending over 10k with this business over the years, this will be my last time. My experience was great - though I scheduled my appointment for the middle of the week, so it wasn't busy.. maybe some of the grumpy reviews were taken from peak hour experiences. I was in and out in about 40 minutes to replace 4 tires and have my alignment tested. The service bays were clean and well organized. The techs were focused and efficient. The waiting area was spotless and comfortable. No surprise fees - paid what I was quoted online. Drove off with TPMS registering 36 psi on all 4 tires. Overall, very impressed with this shop. This is the second time I've been to this business. The first time, I stood at the counter for an unreasonable amount of time before being served, but eventually someone helped me and I got great service by the garage crew, and was pretty happy with the tires and alignment. I had a flat tire and was riding my spare, and because of proximity and the name brand, along with the overall good service on my last visit, I went in again today Sure enough, there were three guys sitting at their counters, and an empty waiting room, and the old white dude with a beard said "I'll be with you in a bit", however 15 minutes later I was still standing there and two of the other dudes were shooting the shit and homie who addressed me was clicking on his screen like I wasn't there. I came to Big O tires with Daughter for them to do a wheel alignment for her car. They were able to service her car at the last minute because the Big in Richmond had a power outage due to the heavy rain we had today. The whole block was with no power. I usually take all my cars to the Richmond Big O tires, they are all great there! As they were checking my daughter's car they came back and told me that all 4 break pads & rotors needed to be replaced. I insisted they get another tech take a second look because the front break pads & rotors had just recently been replaced 3 months ago from a different local repair shop. They had their master technician take a second look and later came back just to confirm that indeed the only breaks & pads that needed to be replaced were the ones on the rear of the car. We would have been out over $1200 in repairs. They later made the price adjustment it came out $649. They gave her a $25 discount on the bill for the misunderstanding. Luckily I was there to help my daughter. This would've been a complete nightmare had they replaced all 4 brakes & rotors like they had originally suggested read more

Okay Big O Tires... Pinole CA specifically are by far the least customer oriented business I've ever been into. If you call them on the phone they seem like they are going to be great. Friendly, helpful, etc. I don't know who answers the phone here but the guys who open the store are slower than 3 toed sloths and they don't care, about anything. At 60 years old I've purchased tires at dozens of stores. Big O included, even this Pinole Big O. The tires are great especially the Big O branded tires. The warranty is great too. I've been told on the phone that I can have a job done at a certain time in so many minutes or hours only to show up (first in line and first to be helped at the counter) only to find out it's going to take much longer. STAY AWAY! I would give them NO STARS! I went there on Jan 29 2020 for a flat tire repair, since I purchased the tires at big o tires. I got there around 11am. I told them the issue. I used fix a flat to get the car over to them. After leaving it there for 4hrs they called me and told me they couldn't locate the hole. They said that your tire hasnt lost any air and there wasnt anything to fix. Well yeah I put in fix a flat in it. I'm pretty sure they didn't even take my tire off the car, because I just removed the tire from my car today 2/17/2020 and found the hole in 5 sec. SMDH. They was just being lazy and didn't want to clean out the inside of the tire and rim. I guess repairing a tire is low priority. They definetly lost a customer. We needed new tires for our Volvo. We initially ordered from CostCo online and they F-ed up our order and then said they ran out of tires even for shipping. Which was not cool because we were out of a car and both my fiancé and I had work and have different shifts. Then I called Firestone at Hilltop and the person I spoke to was very rude and was almost dismissive. During the conversation, I asked if they had Michelin tires and his response was,"we can get them but it will cost more. I'm obviously asking because I want Michelins tires. Finally... third time is always the Charm! Called Big OTires, got a quick answer and they had our tire in stock, they were able to take us as a walk in and no hassle. Got the tire replaced same day and picked up that late afternoon. Thank you Big O Tire team for making our life easy and painless. We should have called you first. Avoid avoid avoid. This place is shady and sketchy. This place will either damage your car, try to scam you or just pretend they did a service when they didn't. My personal experience with them, I purchased an alignment service thru Groupon and brought my car in. They took my car in and told me they would do the alignment and inspect it. Hours go by and I get a call that there's 101 things wrong with my car and that they would have to "fix" those things before doing an alignment. The bill was close to $1k to which I said no because it was sketchy. I take care of my car and have good mechanics, something was up. I refused their offer and wanted a second opinion to which they tried to remedy by lowering the price of my "service". I still refused and took my car to my dealership and as I expected, nothing was wrong with my car, it was all BS. I brought my Toyota Sequoia in for a tire rotation, back breaks and a coolant change. Big O tires finished the job quickly and I got back my Sequoia and drove away. Later that week my car began to over heat and the engine light came on. I brought the car back to Big O tires and they did not admit to any fault and said that they properly changed out the coolant. They said that it would cost 11k to rebuild the engine and that the radiator over heating was cause I put sealant on my radiator when I've never done any work on my car and have always brought it into a mechanic to get serviced. My car has never overheated until now and it happens a week after Big O tires services my car. I believe they improperly changed the coolant and maybe rushed the service.. I really have no idea what they did or if they improperly changed my coolant but it's just suspicious that a week after receiving service from them that my car would overheat and my radiator goes out. One week ago I bought the 4 tires set for 519 dollars with the total tire protection(free repair), this insurance costed me 74 dollars. Today I showed up to this location get my left rear tire repaired. I got my car checked and the guy who helped me at the counter told me that luckily I have the tire protection and the repair is for free, I signed some papers and waited, later on he showed me the tire with a screw in it, made me signe other papers and left. When it was time to get my car back, he told me it was 60 dollars, I immediately complained because he never told me he was going to put a new tire, this is a practice ive seen in this location before, but at least the last time they told me clear and sound what the cost was, he completely fooled me, he accepted that he never said it, cuz it was written on the papers I was signing. I told him he should have said it out loud and not fool me like he did, in order to make a sale. Then he of course started trying to be smart asking me"did I put the nail on your tire " or " did I drive your car anytime " "is it my fault". I know he is a worker and he doesn't really have to be professional or at least not mean to the customers. But for this price 519 dollars + 60 = 579 dollars in less than a week, at least I deserved better service, or a trustworthy advice before getting ripped off. At this company they see customers like a source of income or profit. I could have got that tire repaired for 15 bucks at any tire place, the screw was close to the edge, however he could have asked me, do you want to get the new tire? And don't just proceed without my verbal authorization. Of course I would have turned down getting a new tire. My money is hard earned, and for that price I can get 4 times better service and most likely the same outcome. Plus that insurance should be an option too, knowing that it is just an upsale and completely worthless, my 4 tires set would have costed me 430 dollars instead of 519. Thank you read more

I get there on time and not only do they not have the tires I was there to purchase, they didn't have ANY in my vehicles size. Go inside 10 minutes later to be told the tire was unrepairable-I asked when we're you gonna tell me? He answers the guy that was helping you is at lunch. From my experience, I had drop off my car to them and came back from work hours later. Overall, my experience with this Big O Tires has been great. I had the best luck in the world over the past year as my tires were blown three times from the constant road work during my drive to work. All four of my tires were from Big O, and I was suckered into one of those protection plans. Well, this time, it actually paid off, I didn't have to pay for any of the new tires coming in to any Big O, they just replaced it. Tires are still in great shape because we generally use it on long trips which don't happen too often these days. Well took it in for some rear brake work and asked them to rotate my tires while they were at it. The guy tells me that since the tires were over 6 years old that they wouldn't do it!? Well guess what I went to Pinole tire and they did! No problem & said I might have another 6 years left on them! But it reminded me that when I had Big O install the tires 6 years ago the guy told me that I needed a new power steering pump. Well take a guess. I will start off by saying, I wish that I had checked YELP for the reviews on BIG O Tires in PINOLE, before scheduling an appointment for an Oil change and Tire Rotation. This review is more about CUSTOMER SERVICE, I hope! As soon as I walked in the door, I just sensed a BAD VIBE. I asked the CSR approx how long it would take and she said about 1 1/2 hours. I let her know that I would be sitting outside. I was sitting on a bench facing the street and could not see when they drove my car into the repair station/section OR when they finished the service and had parked my car in the parking lot. After sitting on the bench for well over an hour, I went inside and checked to see how much longer it would be before they finished. What I found out is that they had completed the service on my car way before the estimated time. What SURPRISED me is that, they COULD see me sitting outside long after they had finished, but they did not let me know, they didn't call me OR just step outside to simply say, your car is ready! I paid for the service and left with a BAD FEELING and REGRET for choosing to have my service at this location in PINOLE! On top of that, the YELP reviews, that I read after the fact, CONFIMRED what I experienced at BIG O Tires in Pinole! They don't deserve any Stars! read more

I'm not a big review guy, but I feel like I have to say something now. I have been going to this big O for about ten years, maybe even more. Um, lately I don't know what's been going on, I don't know if it was management change but the customer service here now is terrible. Front desk people are terrible, no biga deal, whatever. I go here a lot to get oil changes, but even a simple oil change and 5pt inspection is not done here. Front desk guys are always trying to explain to me that they don't *top off liquids*, no biggie, as long as you inspect it and let me know to top it off, they don't even do that. I took my car in about a few weeks ago, and noticed that after they were finished about a week later, my car started over heating. Reached out to my mobile mechanic, he quickly did an inspection and found out that in had a leaking radiator and had no coolant in the radiator, mind you, I just had it serviced a week ago. My mobile mechanic told me I had been leaking coolant for a long time because it was a very slow leak, also told me that he noticed that my oil was low, one quart low, MIND YOU, I was just there a week prior to this!! So, they didn't put the correct amount of oil, and also did not do the 5point inspection. I wasn't asking them to fill ALL liquids but just to inspect and let me know if anything was low. Long story short, I paid for an oil change, a 5 pt inspection and roatation of tires. I made it easy for them and even told them not to worry about the tire rotation, just focus on the oil change and the Inspection. But in the end, my oil wasn't fully filled, and the inspection obviously wasn't done on the other liquids. I trusted this to be done properly and I continued to drive my vehicle assuming all was well. Come to find out I was low on coolant and oil, despite just having it serviced! A note for new management: Please, please, find yourself another day job. Please resell pinole Big O to someone who cares about their customers and the work they provide. Don't you just hate it when you get a nail in your tire? Don't you just love it that Big O Tires repairs this problem for FREE when you buy tires from them? I know I do, which is why I purchase my tires at Big O. This Pinole location is within walking distance from my home, but I have also frequented other locations and in Berkeley, as well. Today, I got up early because I wanted to be at this Pinole location when they opened at 8am and I was done and out of there at 8:40am!! The service counter employees are VERY friendly and helpful and the waiting area is comfortable with coffee and a clean restroom. Very disappointing. I came in for an oil change on a weekend and they said they're were six cars ahead of me. I told him I'd call again and make an appt on that Monday instead of waiting; made the call the guy insured me that I didn't need a appt and that they'd get my car out within an hour. Came in Monday for an oil change for my car and have been waiting for over 4 hours and still not done with my car! Update after my oil change that included tire rotation, filling my tires with air, and filling my water filter for my windshield. The mechanic didn't even do any of the above. He didn't even screw the cap on the in the engine when he poured the new oil in. I didn't realize till a month later, if I didn't notice the cap wasn't screwed back on who knows what could have happened to the car or me! read more

I had a really great experience with these guys yesterday! I have had tire issues with the stock tires on my VW Jetta for a while now. 2 were replaced last year with Michelins and the other two were replaced yesterday after a sidewall bubble appeared on one. I tried to set everything up on the site and it just flat out did not work like it should have. So I went to the Pinole location. Gerald helped me out. He explained that the website does not work like it's supposed to, and that they had to get my tires from a local warehouse in Berkeley. I dropped my car off at about 11am with them and everything was good to go by 2pm. If I have any problems again I'm happy to work with them, and especially Gerald because he gave great customer service. read more
