I would not recommend this shop based on my recent experience. I called to request a quote for tire replacement, but the owner appeared unwilling to provide pricing information. Instead, he engaged in unrelated personal conversation. When I redirected the discussion back to the tire pricing, his tone became dismissive, and he stated that he was retired and only there to help people. Hello I brought my car into Big O Tire on No. 2 Road in Richmond, BC on Dec.22, 2025. I'd been experiencing a terrible shimmy in my steering wheel & took it into my regular mechanic shop & they checked the steering suspension, brakes & tires & suggested new tires & an alignment. I was planning on going to Costco as I could get a set of 4 tires installed & balanced for $725. My mechanic agreed that was good & come back for an alignment. Unfortunately I stopped at Big O tires as it was on the way & saw the sign. As I walked into the shop I recognized the guys at front & had a cordial discussion of past store & personnel since left. I had forgotten why I stopped going to that shop years ago until further reminder in this letter of facts. So I told Shaun I need either 2 or 4 tires & he replied how about 3. Laughter. I explained I had just come from my regular mechanic & agreed the car needed new tires. Shawn showed me on his computer a few & decided on the Kumho $160 each & alignment for $89.95. Shawn said he could get these tires in by next day & also get me a $60 rebate. We agreed on 9:30am Dec. 23,2025. I show up at 9:30am next day & Shaun said tires weren't here yet. I asked how long until they arrive? He said by 10 am. I went to a nearby diner for breakfast & came back & tires were being installed. I waited on the chair & couple of other customers came in. One was offered a ride to anywhere but he declined. After about an hour I needed to use the washroom & asked Shawn if they had one I could use? Otherwise I'd go back to the diner. He said yes & told me where it was. I noticed my car up on the hoist & laughed to the man (Rob) near my car that I never knew that's where my spare tire was. He asked me if this was my car? (Obviously it is or why would I comment on my spare) he said & then showed me that I need 2 control arms & cracked ball joints. Honestly I didn't know the difference between a good one or a cracked one nor did I see a crack. I asked for safety reasons how severe is this? Rob said, "your tires could fall off". Well of course this was serious. I asked how much this would cost? He said, "Shawn can tell you inside". Shaun had the cost of everything ready & I was shocked! Another $800. I stated we'll I should have kept my tires & got this fixed instead. Shawn reply was, "I don't know what shape your tires were in"? I said, "you just took them off"! I had just had the car checked at my mechanic & was now upset that maybe that mechanic missed something. So I asked Shawn if he could get the cost down as I've spent a lot of money on this car with your shop in the past. He couldn't & printed me the invoice. I noticed an $80 credit card charge & no alignment in original estimate. He said," he cannot do an alignment on it without the new control arms". So now im Obviously upset & not sure what to do. I didn't have the financial means to pay $800+ more. He said, "I could finance it at 9%". I wasn't going to do that. So I asked for my keys to test drive around lot as I noticed it was backed out of the garage. I drove it but wasn't exactly sure as I needed to road test but was so infuriated with both Rob & Shawn's condescending manner that I just wanted to go back to my mechanic. I paid the bill $971 for 4 tires, installed & assuming balanced but no alignment & he said he would send in the rebate. I don't trust he did. I drove straight to my mechanic & both owner & mechanic who checked my car day before said that it does not need that & I'm getting ripped off. They put it up on the hoist & test drove it & said, there are no broken control arms or cracked ball joints. That the steering was 90% better & just needs an alignment. Later that afternoon I called Shawn at Big O Tire & his tone was not friendly & obviously didn't want to speak with me. I asked him why he is overcharging me & added I read your reviews & I should have gone with my first plan of buying from costco. He responded, "you fucking cunt"! I was gobsmacked & asked if I heard him correctly? What a despicable, rude thing to say to a woman or a customer happy or not. I feel I was overcharged for the installation Shawn & Rob did at Big O Tires & suggesting more work be done to the car. For the despicable choice of words he used with me as a customer. Save yourself some grief and go elsewhere. Randy is condescending, arrogant and rude. "The best customer dis-service" seems to be their motto. Anything you say, you'll be told you're wrong. Unless you're literally rolling in on a flat, I would go anywhere else. The pricing is dubious to start, plus they hit you with surcharges that they never mention. No walking you through what they did and what the charges are... or even telling you the total. It's just "VISA or Mastercard? Tap there." The shop is cluttered and messy. Looks like the workers have no pride in their workplace. The glass of the front door is shattered and covered over with cardboard. Sep 30, I went to this shop to do Alignment. When I entered the office, no one was present. I walked down the hallway toward the workshop and saw only one person. I was not sure whether he was the owner or an employee, I asked if he was working alone, and he replied yes. After that, I returned to the office to complete the registration paperwork. Suddenly, this person came up behind me and forcefully squeezed my left shoulder, which startled me and caused me discomfort. I immediately said:" You hurt me!" However, instead of apologizing, the worker responded in a rude and aggressive manner, claiming that in Canada one is not allowed to say" You hurt me." He continued speaking to me in a very disrespectful tone and then ordered me to leave the office, insisting that I was not allowed to remain there. This individual's behavior was extremely unprofessional and inappropriate. It felt like a form of harassment and it frightened me. For my safety, I called the police to handle the situation. 01/06/2024 * RIP OFF.. I SUGGEST GOING SOMEWHERE ELSE*** Today my father and I came into the shop today to pick up his car. In advance we agreed on a set price for buying 4 used tires that has 50% thread. Upon paying my dad payed in cash, he brought exactly $600 but Randy showed me the back side of the bill. Expecting us to pay something called "wheel alignment" on top of the $600... Which was another $120. We had spoken before hand with someone who had worked there, and they specifically agreed on the price. Our agreement was to pay only the $600 without tax. That was the reason we agreed to buy the 4 tires. So, it was unexpected to see an extra charge on top of the original price. Our usual and trusted car repair shop is Kings Auto-Guard LTD but they did not have used tires. N** who works there referred us to Big O tires . My dad was not happy because he did not agree to getting a "wheel alignment". We stayed for an extra half an hour waiting for N** to call in to speak to Randy. Randy then avoided his calls while I was standing there. He tried to distract me with nonsense about things that have nothing to do with my dad's car... It ended up with Nam coming to the repair shop to clear up the issue. We've been going to N** for many years and we've never encountered any problems before. He was being very professional and he tried to explain to Randy that he always keeps his word with his customers. He also mentioned that Randy has had past issues with over-charging customers with services that they never asked for. Then he started bringing in personal things about his life into the conversation. Apparently about "being late to pick up his child" and that we were not on time, which we were on time but he kept chatting up with other customer. Once again, nothing to do with cars or repairs... Randy then got mad and denied about agreeing to the price, which N** said "why are you sounding different in person than on the phone...". And accusing him of lying and misunderstanding, by now he wasn't acting professional anymore. He began to talk down to N**, belittling him saying "I've been here longer", "I'm more professional than you". While N** talked to him in a professional manner. Randy turned to me and asked if I wanted to be included in the conversation now. All I said was whatever price was agreed on we should only be paying for that. We spoke back and forth and he still wouldn't budge. Nam turned to us and apologized on behalf of Randy. Me and my dad decided to leave and I heard Randy say "you will pay deeply for this" to N**. Once I got home I reviewed my receipt, seeing he charged me more than $120. Randy told me if I pay cash or debit then it will be $120, with visa there be tax on top. So then I payed with my debit card and I still got the tax. Also, on top of that there is a 1% surcharge. WHAT IS THE SURCHARGE FOR??! If there was any additional charges he should've been honest and upfront about it before paying. I suggest you do not go here to avoid future miscommunication and being taken advantage of. I know this is long but just had a "interesting" experience with the owner of Big O Tire on Kingsway. They had previously fixed our tire and were going to mount it back on car, replacing the temporary tire. My husband had tried earlier in the morning but they were unable to replace it, ensuring that Randy would make it a priority if we came back later in the afternoon. When I arrived, I wrongly thought that the office was closed but the two bays were open, so I went looking for people. I excused myself for interrupting and Randy came from around the corner almost raging. You are interrupting a staff meeting (Randy and one other young man!), so I admit that I did respond with sarcasm, apologizing for interrupting. I explained that the office seemed to be closed, he was angry again: no it's not closed, talking down to me. He still continued to be insulting. I did go in the office, saw there was only a big sign instructing me to ring a bell - the bell that would bring Randy! The thought of having to deal with that man was not appealing, so I left the office and he came out of the bay, still insulting me as I was getting into my car, blathering at me the whole time. Then as I was closing my door he kept pulling it back (2-3 times) then I finally shouted at him to let go of my door. I did state that my husband had said he was a rude guy and he was right. He asked if my name was Karen, not sure what I said that seemed Karen like to him but I suspect he has little respect for women, though he does seem to be angry with everyone. He continued to yell at me and pointed to the exit sign, I was more than happy to leave. When I arrived home, my husband had received a call from Randy, saying that I had been there and had tried to explain that I had missed that the office was open and he was more than willing to change the tire if we came back. He neglected to say about shouting at me, pulling the car door so I couldn't close it and calling me a Karen. Very convenient to not implicate himself. This a silly man, with anger issues and maybe other stuff is going on but nobody should have to put up with abusive behaviour. Even if he is the only establishment that fixes challenging punctures. P.S. Randy had a go at my husband earlier, accusing him of trying to pull a fast one, my husband stayed calm enough to call him on his actions and then he backed down and was all nice. It was my experience today that they tried to rip me off. He offered to sell me 4 tires, used, 275/25/16R for $500 a set, with approximately 50% tread. 50% was generous. It seems this is the only tire repair shop able to fix a flat close to or in the "wall" of the tire. So my practice is to go somewhere else first and if they cannot fix the flat, I come here and it will get fixed. I will pay more than at the other shops because the other shops can't actually do the job, and at this Big O they can. At this location I use extremely careful people skills to keep everyone happy. I do not come to this shop expecting 10/10 people skills from the service providers. But they will fix my tire so I do not need to buy a new tire (or 2 matching new tires) for half the price of a new tire. And the repair works. It lasts. I get what I paid for. I took my car there to get the front left tire fixed after a flat. They said they fixed it, charged me $100, and I went home. The next morning, the tire was flat again, so I came back. The owner told me that whatever tire I brought them was not the tire they fixed. I suggested that maybe they fixed the wrong tire and to check the slip where they wrote down what tire to fix. The owner said there was no way that they fixed the wrong tire, and he insisted that I had brought in a different tire. When it became clear that they had no intention of fixing the tire that I had paid for already, I left. They called me later, admitting that they had fixed the left rear tire instead of the left front. They offered to fix the left front for a $20 discount. ****STAY AWAY**** (if you don't want to be ridiculed) I called in the AM re a flat tire on our vehicle. I asked how long...Randy said about 45 mins. We got there and dropped the car with an employee...and went for a walk as he said an hour to wait. We got back about 45 mins later and Randy comes out...exclaiming to all that our vehicle repair was expedited (we never asked for that!). We were appreciative and then came to the desk to pay. I started some light banter with Randy, as did my wife, in explaining why we came in...and relating that we had a similar incident in December. The topic of whether or not it was the same tire came into play...and how this puncture came about. My wife and I then felt as though we were at the other end of an inquisition...or at least on Jeopardy! Randy kept at us saying..."are you asking a question...or stating something"...and when my wife mentioned the bridge in our area and the truck traffic across it, he launched into a soliloquy about how people blame others for flat tires when no one really knows how they occur. All with a somewhat condescending demeanor and tone. My wife was getting uncomfortable...and I was getting a bit miffed...but we held it together. To top things off...he asked how to settle the bill...and I took out my AMEX card. He said NO...no AMEX. And then he proceeded to intimate that AMEX was reserved for "older" people...he hardly ever saw anyone in their 20's with one...unless they were try to show off (or something to that extent)...sheeeeeeeeeeesh! I kept my cool and simply asked why no AMEX...and mentioned that I as a business owner of 30+ years myself never understand why not. He mentioned...FEES...it's EXPENSIVE. I replied..."use Square...it's 2.9%" and he said "too much". 'Nuff said....I just took my Visa card and inserted into the reader...realizing then I couldn't remember the PIN (my AX is always inserted as the tap doesn't work...so it's 2nd nature for me)...and he said to just tap the Visa, as if I didn't know that was an option! I did that...took my keys and receipt...and left! When I got in the car and reviewed the receipt...there was a 1% SURCHARGE for the use of the credit card!!!! Granted...less than a $1....but...there was NO MENTION or NO SIGN indicating that a surcharge was to be placed on the final bill for use of a credit card. UNSCRUPULOUS BUSINESS PRACTICE...SHAMEFUL!! Randy....you got my tire fixed...but darned if I will ever be back...or if I will ever recommend your shop to anyone. I had a very unpleasant experience at Big O Tire at 3059 Kingsway in Vancouver today. I had a flat tire that needed repairing (it was already off the car, as I was driving with a temporary compact spare). When I entered the shop just before noon, two people (one a customer, the other staff, I assume) were just leaving the front desk area to go to the back of the shop. I'm pretty sure one of them saw me enter, so I waited by the desk for a good six or seven minutes before deciding to ring the buzzer (as suggested on a note taped to the counter, in the event that nobody is at the front). About five mins later, a staff member emerged and greeted me. I should have known trouble was brewing, as he clearly wasn't in a good mood. When I explained that I needed a flat repair, he asked something like, "tire or car", as if I would know what he meant. When I tried explaining that I had already taken off the flat and that it was in the trunk, he cut me off and asked (as if he were speaking to an imbecile) if the tire or car was being dropped off. He was surly and exceedingly rude. Then he stated condescendingly, "It's not a hard question." He was wearing a phone headset, and a customer called, so he put that person on hold. Then he said, "Look, I've got a lot on the go, and I have someone waiting." When I asked if the tire could be repaired and installed today, he just said, "Just do as you're told and leave the tire here." I was dumbstruck. He said I could go to another shop if I wanted, so I opted to do exactly that, and just walked out of the store. I have NEVER, in all my years, been spoken to in that way by a store employee. If I had had time, I would have asked to speak to the manager (I certainly hope that wasn't the actual manager!), and complain. However, the priority was on getting the tire fixed, so I left. Needless to say, that exchange left a sour taste in my mouth. That guy was easily the rudest, most unprofessional person I've ever had to deal with. Look, I get it: tire shops across the city are busy, with snow expected the following day, but if you're having a bad day and are swamped with work, don't take out your frustrations on a customer. I am not commenting on the service of this business, as I had a strange encounter with Randy right upon meeting him. I came to his store for the second time and on entering, at the counter, I was supposed to ring a bell in order to get service but did not push the button hard enough, so "no ring"! There was a fellow on the computer 10 feet away from me (Randy), who after a few minutes turned to me and started "a very long and convoluted discussion about me and the bell and no service if it didn't ring and the fault of the customers if they are not helped and him retiring soon and going on and on!" It seemed to me that the one thing he missed WAS A CUSTOMER IN HIS SHOP WANTING A QUOTE FOR FOUR TIRES, NOT A DAMN SPEECH...! If he treats his potential clients like that, makes me wonder about the patron's dealings with him for real. Short story, I left with no tires. There are other places. Also, I just read a few other reviews and can see that Randy is obviously NOT A PEOPLE PERSON...maybe he should stay in his shop and avoid the store front. read more

The owner (it seems) was strangely rude from the moment I pulled up my car. I wouldn't bother posting a review, but his rudeness was bizarre as there was no basis for it. Here's literally how it went when I pulled up my car: The Owner: "You can't park here"/ Me: "OK, where should I park?"/ "In a parking spot"/ "Is there a space somewhere?"/ "Wherever you find one." Okay... Well I should have left at that point, but just then a lady left a parking stall and I just decided to park. A very friendly mechanic got out and took in my leaky tire and brought it in, and told me to wait in the front office. The owner (who apparently was the front office guy) saw me go in. I thought he would come speak to me. About 5 minutes later I rang the buzzer. No one came. Finally the guy came out, spoke with a woman who was sitting there, saw me, said nothing, and went back to the garage. I thought the fellow as going to come out and let me know what was going on, or how long I'd have to wait. Another 5 minutes passed, so I rang the buzzer again. This time the guy comes out and says: "Look, if I need to tell you something, I'll come out and tell you!"... I mean what the... This guy really seems to have some issues. So I basically told him that I wanted to see if they were working on my tire yet, and if not, what was the time-frame for waiting, so that I know if I should go back to work or not. So here is this guy I don't know who is expressing extreme unfriendliness and animosity towards his potential customer for no reason other than the customer wants to speak to someone- Not repeatedly- but the first time, to ask how long it will take, or how much it will cost. Eventually I was told the repair would cost maybe several hundred dollars. Well, I just took my tire, gave the mechanic a tip for his effort, and left. I feel for the mechanic to work for such a person. I honestly don't know where the positive reviews are coming from. Either these reviewers only met the mechanics or are maybe relatives and friends of the owner. Holy God, the guy was so rude it would have been funny if I wasn't the one waiting around. ... The owner responded right away- it seems this fellow, who was so carefree about being rude to others, is very sensitive to people being critical of himself! But he didn't issue an apology, but rather insinuated that I felt like I felt entitled. Well yes, a potential client is entitled to speak with someone after waiting 15 minutes to check in. I was polite, and am a very humble guy, but sorry, I don't take attitude. Strange to say, there was a young woman there waiting already and when the guy first came out, he was extremely nice to her to the point of being a bit strange, but then he saw me and turned around and walked away. I suppose either he had the hots for the woman and is always rude otherwise, or more likely, is just racist. At the end of his response he sarcastically suggests that perhaps he should apologize for "hurting my feelings". I would like to respond that rude people don't hurt my feelings, but rather I feel sorry for whatever hatred they are harboring. Perhaps I might be the surgeon treating him or his family in the future... I have no hate- I help people, but some people just have this inexplicable hate. I'm any event when I have a good experience I share it on Yelp, and same with my poor experiences. I would suggest to the owner that if he truly cannot accept having a negative review, just issue a sincere apology and I'll rank this up a bit. No worries. The waiting area has your usual assortment of newspapers and magazines, a coffee machine and a tv with no volume. However.... the work they do is outstanding, I went in for four new snow tires and was ready to roll out in exactly an hour. Later my dad pleads with me to not buy the car because his mechanic friend (who inspected the car) said there might be a major transmission problem. WTF. Not cool. We had a snowstorm today and had to repair a flat tire. None of the tire shops in my area was available as they were all very busy changing snow tires for their customers. I contacted Big O Tires and spoke with Randy, the owner. He told me to come in so that they can have a look at the tire. Not only were they able to take time out of their busy day to fix the tire but they said it was a very simple job and did not charge me. I insisted on paying them as they took the time to help me out when no other tire shop was able to do so. I will definitely be back in the future and I highly recommend their services. read more

Have been a repeat customer for several years and have to say these guys run a really good shop, consistently and locally!

The owner of this place has poor customer service skills. I walked in and I was welcomed by only a blank stare from the owner. No hello or anything close to being friendly! I asked if I could get help with a tire repair that he had already worked on but was now still leaking. He replied that they are closed and that the front door should have been locked. I left with a feeling that I was inconveniencing him so I never did come back. read more

So, I'm brown and my partner's white. Normally, this wouldn't matter at ALL when it comes to writing a review of a place, but here, it really, really did. We came to the store a few months ago with a flat tire. We were waiting in the area with a TV when the news was on. Some dude came to us and commented about the international affairs that were being reported on, and went into a big tirade about how Islam is an inherently violent religion and how it's too bad that all these horrible Muslims keep killing people. I have no idea what prompted this - he just randomly started spewing his racist garbage. No matter what someone's political thoughts are, it's completely unacceptable to impose them on customers in that way. I did engage with him respectfully, but he kept going on his racist tirade about the inherent violence in Islam - which, as someone with two Master's degrees in humanities that includes a close study of the Qur'an, I can tell you is not at all true. The guy who said the stuff looks kinda like the guy who's pictured on this yelp page, so I'm guessing he's the franchise owner. I wrote to the franchise office about this and got no reply back. I recommend that anyone who's against racism and Islamaphobia steer clear of this store. (Oh, edited to add that when our tire was ready, the dude made us wait at the counter for a good 5 minutes while he finished watching the news before he'd let us pay and leave his racist establishment.) read more

A great experience here today! We parked our car in front of our house only to see a screw sticking out. Oh no! So we drove it to the nearest place that did tires (not Big O Tires) and asked if they could repair it. They took the screw out but said that unfortunatly the hole was too close to the wall so they couldn't fix it. They said we could either purchase two new tires (since you should swap two at a time and they didn't carry the brand we had on there) or we should go find one of the same brand. Fine, no problem. So we called Big O Tires to see if they carried the brand we were looking for - and they asked why, and we told them because we have a hole in one and it's apparently not repairable. Amazingly enough they said no, we DO repair them, we're one of the only places in the city that can repair holes close to the wall, so bring it down. Oh - and the repair is guaranteed for the life of the tire (as long as you don't get another flat). Fantastic. We went there - left the car with them, and reported back after the 30 minutes - only to be told there wasn't actually a hole at all - the screw hadn't done any damage. They'd tested the tire for us, and it was fine. They then proceeded to swap the dummy we had on for our tire, and sent us on our way. Awesome customer service all around!!! We'll definitely go back if anything else happens. read more

I'm not one for false modesty but boy did Big O Tires, and in particular its manager Randy Sokalofsky, come in handy today. My flat tire situation was utterly unusual. I say unusual because of the time of the year when it happened and the type of damage that the tire sustained. I got a flat tire on Christmas Eve, and was not able to move my SUV until after Christmas day. After replacing the flat tire with my spare tire I resorted to Yelp and to the internet to look for a reliable and honest tire shop. Seeing as most of the tire shops are in business nowadays to make a profit, I made sure I was extra cautious in terms of who I chose to conduct business with. The day after Boxing day, I phoned three different tire shops and after reading the reviews I decide to go with Big O Tires, conveniently located on 3059 Kingsway, in Vancouver. Although I was running 30 mins late and the shop was understaffed, due to the holidays, I was still not turned down and greeted with a smile. Upon my arrival Randy, the manager of the shop, took my car keys and parked the car in the garage right away. After a quick check-up, he informed me that the side wall of the tire was punctured by a sharp metal object and that despite the damage that the tire experienced they would be able to repair the tire. Randy could have tried to upsell me to buy the tires at the shop, but he instead chose the fixing route. After consulting with Randy I decided to do a tire rotation as well (which cost me only 29.33$ for all 4 tires) so the front tires are all worn and used now equally. A tire fiasco which could have ended up with me spending upwards of $600 in a brand new set of tires was prevented by Randy and his crew at Big O Tires. I would highly recommend their services to anyone having issues with their vehicle and can't thank them enough for their time and effort. I am definitely coming back - you've earned a loyal customer! :) Note, after doing a little research I found out that Big O Tires, are one of the very few, if not the only tire shop, that is certified by ICBC to conduct sidewall repairs on tires! read more

Great place. Thought I has a nail in my tire. Brought it in. They didn't it was nail so they pulled it out with pliers and it turned out to be only the head of the nail and didnt puncture the tire. They didn't charge me. Great service. read more

What great service. After one of Big-O's competitors left me high and dry on a repair I gathered my wheel and tire and went over to Big O after a friends recommendation. I was in and out of there in 30 minutes, without an appointment. Thx guys. Highly recommended. read more

I had my car's punctured right rear tire replaced somewhere else but not until I visit Randy's Big O Tires, nobody tell me that the position of the tires are not balanced that way. Without a second thought, Randy offered to help me get the tires rotation done. Did I mention it was done during my lunch break? Their service totally raise the bar of a tire shop. In the end the tires they installed and the alignment they did were fine however, I feel absolutely deflated from their customer service policy. I called on a Friday to ask if they had a certain tire in stock and Randy said they did't but they had another brand available. No problem, booked it for a Saturday. I brought my vehicle in and decided to wait there as the clerk said it'd be about an hour and a half. Three hours later I'm told that they don't actually have the tires on hand and that they were being transferred from a warehouse and that the driver isn't reachable. Got it, technical issues on a Saturday, understandable. Waited another hour until close, still no delivery. 4 hours of waiting, plus another hour for my wife to come get me, then another hour to come back on Monday. Had to cancel our Monday trip to Whistler hence the needed the tires. Now, I get that things happen, and it turned out that their system cycled the tire delivery back into the queue. I went to retrieve my vehicle with hoping they would do something to make the experience better. They offered a free tire rotation. Pfft! Sad and an utter devaluation of my time. What a hassle. I begrudgingly paid the full price noting how awful I felt and made a note to use this as an example of what not to do in my own business. Never going back to this place. read more
