I've been going to Kaltire for a while now however at a different location as I moved to Burnaby. Was hoping for the same kind of service but this new location wasn't up to par with the other location. I came to switch tires and do alignment service to make sure everything is good when I leave. It took them almost 4 hours because they were overbooked and there was a long queue for the alignment machine. They changed the tires in an hour or so but 3 hrs for the alignment machine is ridiculous. They have the shop music blasting so loud that I could hear it as I arrived for my appointment. They also park a vehicle right at the Boundary Road entrance so it's partially blocking it. Not sure why they park a vehicle there, maybe to control the speed of people coming in. I saw one person needing to back up a little back onto Boundary Road, just to adjust to squeeze through. Not safe since Boundary is a busy road. Best to enter/exit from the Kitchener entrance. When my vehicle was ready, they didn't go over the invoice or alignment sheet. They just handed the invoice and told me the cost. I will go back to the previous location i used to go to, even if it's further away. read more

Overall, I have had very positive experiences at most Kaltire stores. I especially like the car service technicians and managers at this specific location because they are like Apple geniuses of KalTire. I appreciate their good customer service oriented attitudes and expert knowledge on tires. Also, I appreciate their honest suggestions and professionalism. Jaime, the senior assistant manager is very knowledgeable and he was very helpful both in person and over the phone. Mike, the technician, was nice and thorough re: checking my tires and brake parts. Bobby is conscientious in keeping me updated with car service info. Free coffee, tea and WiFi available in the waiting area. They seem well stocked in tires inventory and it's helpful that Kaltire labels their display tires with their own independent tire testing results, making it easy for a novice like me to shop for tires. Value - Tho I haven't done price comparison on their tire services with other places, they offer good value for me by having so many locations where you can trace your car service details and tire replacement info in their computer system at any KalTire store. Thus, I would return for convenience in tracking tire replacement and service history details. read more

Sold me a set of Nokian Outpost NAT tires that haven't lasted a year. Performing terrible in wet conditions as 17,000 km. Have to drive in 4 wheel drive just to get up a wet city street. Tried to get them to look at the tires but had to make an appointment. Then after being stuck in traffic for 45 minutes and arrived late. They told me I had to wait 90 minutes before they could look at my tires or leave the vehicle. Not happy with tires or service. The one year warranty expired a week ago. Also tried to upsell me on other repairs that were not necessary after checking with Toyota directly. Do not recommend tires or Kal Tire. read more

Brought my car in for a simple tire puncture on a set of tires that were otherwise in excellent shape. I was told that it couldn't be repaired, that they couldn't replace one tire, and a $700 full set of new tires was required. Went elsewhere and had the tire fixed for $40. I decided that I needed new tires before the big snowfall in the Greater Vancouver area. After having poor service, poor warranty policies, and the lack of all-weather Tires at Costco, it was just the smart choice to return back to Kal Tire for tires. I have been a customer at Kal Tire since the 2000s, and I am familiar with their excellent service and their reasonable prices. I wanted to buy Nokian tires and Kal Tire is the only dealer in Canada that sells this Finnish brand which invented the winter tire. My Dad uses Nokian WRG series of all-weather tires and his vehicle never got stuck in the snow under the most demanding conditions with heavy snowfall, icy roads and slush. I called Kal Tire, and they directed me to a location that sells the exact size and model of tires that I wanted for my car which was the Nokian WRG4. When I arrived to their location, I realized that they were very busy and I had to wait for about 10 minutes before getting officially checked in. I was quoted to wait for approximately 1.5 hours for the installation, balancing, alignment for my new tires. At the end, it took less than one hour and my car was ready. It was dark when I arrived to my car in the parking lot after they had completed the service. I almost slipped on a huge patch of mud which I couldn't see because it was late in the afternoon with very little light when I tried to open the trunk of my car. I found out that the outer edge of the concrete section of the parking could be muddy and slippery, so be very careful when you're at their parking lot. read more

Got my wheel back. As it was professionally re-finished by Nu-Brite, the wheel came back in immaculate condition. James (the manager) waived all of the costs, including the charges for patching my tire (the original reason I came to the shop this time). Very grateful for this. Special mention. I really respect the fact they took care of me, and I will gladly return whenever I need anything done to my beater winter rims, but for my summer alloys, unfortunately I won't be bringing them back until I hear they have a touchless machine. read more

I will give a deserving 1 star, although if I could I'd give 1.5 stars. I'm fairly new at having a car, and along with that a little naive to the way that getting services on my car work, however; I'm still a person and I strongly believe in communication. I went to this location a week ago to get an oil change, and to see how it would all go. I'm a native to Vernon and remember driving by the original Kal tire near the lake all summer, and every local Vernon person loved the community based garage and that they all went the extra mile to please their customers. (I get away from the review). I was told that they were full that day (which is fine) and to make an appointment (which is great!) so I pick 12:30 the following Monday to get my oil changed. Monday today, I drive over and arrive and check in at 12:20. Sit around for a little bit, at about 1:30, I ask a couple of questions about prices for some future brake work, then continue to sit around. 2:30 I realize my phone battery is almost dead. 3:30 I'm getting a little impatient to say the least, 3:45 I get my car back. My problem is not that it took over 3 hours to do an oil change, my problem is that at any point at all, I could have been told that they were running behind (so I could have done some other things and returned) or a heads up call before I arrived to say that they were running 2 or 3 hours behind (then I could have done some other things before I got there). What's the point of an appointment though? I asked the guy if 3 hours is a normal time to have an oil changed as I'm used to about an hour, and he just glazed over an 'I'm sorry were running behind'. Obviously, I was sitting through half of someone's 8 hour shift. This isn't the reputation that Kal tire has in Vernon. They did however measure my brake pads and a couple other quick visual inspections which is why they deserve an extra half of a star, but I won't be going back. Dropped by around 4pm on a Saturday afternoon to inquire about Winter Tires. The staff were so friendly and helpful even on a busy day! He gave a couple of recommendations about other tires like Michelin and their Kal Tire brand of tires. He was not pushy nor biased but gave really good information about how the tires can perform, also provided a quote and explained each item on the list. We always liked the service at Kal Tire, we bought all weather tires from here before and recommend this shop again! read more

Popped a tire on a curb, sidewall damage so it couldn't be repaired. Called Kal Tire who sold me the original tires and they had to order a replacement as it wasn't in stock. I was looking at getting the tire installed on the Monday. Get a call the Friday to let me know they had received my tire and I could choose a same day appointment meaning I would have my car for the weekend. They were short staffed that day but it didn't diminish their smiles and excellent customer service. I highly recommend this location, they might be busy but gosh darn do they do a good job. I got my snow tires put on in November. As part of the inspection, Kal Tire told me my front brake pads were worn out and needed replacement in the next month. Kal Tire gave me a quote of $450 for the job. I called my regular mechanic, who gave a quote below $300. When he inspected the brakes, he found plenty of pad left. He said replacing now would be a waste of pad and we will plan to replace them next year. read more

Terrific service on all fronts! This place is now my go for anything tires to alignment and they even do oil changes. I came into this location and dealt with an associate named Mike, great first impression! I thought the problem with my vehicle was that a tire had a slow leak, since I'd been filing the tire up and monitoring it. Little did I know, the inside of my rear tires were wearing through the tread because I'd knocked the alignment WAY out of place. Mike and the staff here talked me through what was needed, gave me options on what do (including price levels) and even showed me the extreme damage to the actual tires. I was blown away by this level on honesty and competency. I am many things in life but no one would ever call me a 'car guy', so to feel like I had options and be shown WHY certain services were needed was refreshing to say the least. Mike was engaging, funny and even chatted with my wife and I during a lull, while our vehicle was being worked on. I honestly felt like a loyal customer even though this is the first time giving them my business. Bravo Kal Tire! 100% Recommended! I called to get a price quote for two tires plus installation. I was quoted a great price compared to other places I called. The person over the phone told me they would price match other places and provided competitive rates. Sounds like amazing customer service, right? I called back to book the next day and spoke to a different person. This guy tells me the price quoted was incorrect, that I needed to pay a middle man fee for that make of tire. It would about $20 extra each tire on top of the retail price of the tire everywhere else I was quoted and I might have to wait 10 days to get the tires in stock. Then he offered to find me 4 new tires of another brand so I can spend even more money! Why am I paying extra for tires when everyone else is quoting retail pricing? Also, why should I change all 4 of my tires when 2 of them are still relatively new (ie I bought them this year). So the final cost would be about the same or more than elsewhere. So I took my business elsewhere. I suggest that staff be trained properly to quote prices if the first person made the mistake, or honour prices quoted than to advertise extra costs or brand new set of tires. I do not recommend. I took my car in for a tire change from winter to summer tires. When I picked up my car I was told I needed new brakes, shocks and struts. Kaltire informed me my brakes were less than 10% on the front and 5% on the back and essentially my car was undrivable. I told them I'd think about it. 2 days later I got 2 calls from Kaltire telling me about 'specials' they had running on breaks and shocks....oh what a surprise! Not trusting their assessment, I went to my mechanic - Beetle Spa in North Van. My trusted mechanic told me my brakes were @ 60 on the front and 30 on the back and did not need to be done for another 20,000km. The shocks and struts were in great shape. DO NOT got to Kaltire. Great experience overall. When Mercedes refused to touch my smart because it had European tires, they told me to go across the street to kal tire, so I did. They quickly squeezed me in, checked for damage from our construction laden streets, and confirmed that my right rear tire was damaged. Rims okay, plugs not possible... Needed new tire. Due to my customizations they didn't have my yokohamas in stock, but outfitted my car with a temporary tire until mine came in. They told me a few days... It was less than 24 hours. Go, guys! I came here to fix a flat tire that I had. Process was to drop it off and then they'd text me when it was ready. I specifically asked the guy helping me if he could give me an idea when the tire would be ready since it was still the morning, so I'd have an idea as to when I'd need to come by to pick it up. I was told it shouldn't take any longer than early afternoon. I waited around until about 3pm and still didn't hear from them, so I gave them a call to figure out if they forgot. I needed to know because they're closed on Sundays and I didn't want to spend the rest of the weekend driving on my spare. The person answering the phone said that the tire is next to be done and will be ready around 4-430pm (they close at 5pm) and that I'll get a text or call to pick it up. I figured that everything was good because he had just explicitly told me when it'll be ready before closing. 4:45pm comes around and I still didn't receive any notification from them, now I'm irritated and annoyed about the whole thing, so I just decide to show up. I get there a few minutes before 5 and the place is empty except for two staff manning the front desk. The guy grabs me my tire and made no mention of anything when I told them I was waiting for a text/call that never came. Pretty disappointing experience all around. read more

Integrity Fail, Service Fail and Some Management Fail I am revising my previous review because after posting to Yelp I finally got a call from someone further up the management chain that agreed that this was a significant issue. Drop off SUV for a 9:30 appointment for brake replacement. Previously identified by Kal while doing a balance and alignment. At 2:30 or so they called to say they had the wrong parts... car should have been ready by now but only finding out they had the wrong parts mid afternoon but said my car would be ready by 6 for sure. As I am walking over to their office just after 5 to wait I get a call they can't finish the job today for some reason and I will have to leave my car overnight. This was not going to work for me and I had lost confidence at this point so asked them to put the old parts back and get my car ready for me. While waiting I had a look at my GPS logs that are sent to my phone to discover someone drove it for 40 minutes and went 4 km at lunch. Dash cam revealed one of the techs took it out for what appears to be personal errands over his lunch break (parked in front of Whole Foods for 13 minutes with the car off. Initially this was denied until I showed logs and later video of the entire drive. Local BC management did not seem to take this seriously or see it as an issue, including the customer service group I was told I had to deal with. After posting to Yelp I got a call from the Regional Director who seemed to understand my concerns with how this had been dealt with and promised to deal with this to the best of his ability. I am satisfied that I found someone at Kal finally that believes in the values they advertise and will do whatever is appropriate to make sure this type of thing does not happen again. I have revised from 1 star to 2 star for this location because overall it was still an terrible customer service and service experience but Snr, Management at least responded once they became aware. read more

I went to Mr Lube (Hastings & Kensington) on Sunday as I had a screw in my tire and it was completely flat. They charged me $60. So, 2 days later, I have a roofing nail in another tire. I go back to to this location only to be told, I need a new tire as its too close to the wall. I decided to get a second opinion. The next morning I went to Kal-Tire on Boundary and they fixed it with a half hour. I told them what I was told at Mr. Lube and they said that was a flat out lie, my tires are as good as new. To top it off, they didn't charged me a dime! They handed me a receipt and said,' no charge, just come see us when you need new tires.' I got out of my truck the other day to check on a tire price and heard Jeremy say, " This guys an asshole, don't serve him" after hearing that, I asked him if he had my tire priced yet, he said, he had no stock anywhere! Threats of a Snowmagedon sent me and half of the City of Vancouver on a quest to replace tires that were questionable. Points to Kal Tire for accommodating me during such a busy time. I've been to this location before to work on a tire that had a slow leak. But I don't know if you could call me a customer at that point, because they wouldn't let me pay. That's right - THEY FIXED IT FOR FREE!!! I hadn't purchased the tires there, so there was no reason for them to do so other than an extreme measure of goodwill, which is rare to unheard of these days in businesses. So points for that, as it definitely made me interested in bringing my car here to purchase replacements. They gave me the informed sell, not a hard sell or an up sell, but they definitely wanted me to be well informed about their products and services so that I could make the best decision. I'm now the happy owner of some lovely Nokian All Weather Tires. I'm confident that these tires will take me on some great adventures throughout the province. And they will also mean I'm safe on my travels around town during the approaching Snowpocalypse!!!! read more

I never post reviews, but after the great service I received today at Kal Tire Boundary I just had to make a post. Had a nail in my tire that needed to be patched. After a terrible experience at Cdn Tire (didn't honour their quote when I arrived), I called around and found this Kal Tire had availability on short notice and was quoted less than half the Cdn Tire quote. They completed the fix within 1/2 hour!!! while I waited in their waiting area (stocked with coffee, popcorn and magazines). After the short wait, they told me that the service was on the house to which I replied "wait...what? Why??"....the rep told me just because they hope to gain my future business and hope I will think of them next time I have tire needs. I don't think I could've left a happier customer. I don't trust them. They changed my snow tires to existing rims fine. Undercarriage/chassis inspection included. When I was paying the bill, I had to ask about the inspection. I was surprised to hear that the struts in front and shocks in the back did not pass. About two months before, a Toyota dealer had installed two new front struts/shocks! They claimed that this was based on mileage only, whiich I would have allowed somewhat if they had not included the inspection. My guess is that they would replace those two new shocks/struts if I did not know they were new. This could happen if, e.g., I had just acquired the car. When I reacted, the fellow at the counter simply defended their view instead of understanding mine. That was not good, either. On another note, the invoice had a big warning on it about checking the lugs with a torque wrench after so many kilometers. No indication that they would do this for a fee or free. The counter guy said nothing, either. So, I bought a wrench and checked it myself. Yes, they were still torqued ok. So, their work is ok, maybe better. But I don't trust their recommendations. And, I don't deal with people I don't trust. I don't know if this applies to Kal-Tire in general or just this outlet. Called to have a tire on my trailer replaced, as I thought the tire was damaged. When I arrived for the appointment, they immediately started the work and inspected the tire. After taking the tire off the rim, we realized that the tire on the trailer was still in good shape. They proceeded to put the tire back on the trailer and didnt try selling me a tire that I did not need. Not to mention they didn't even charge me for their time. Some of the best customer service I've experienced. I had to get my car in to get two new tires and balancing done ASAP on the advice of my mechanic. I was told by my colleague that these guys are great and they did not disappoint. I called at about 1pm on a Friday and asked if there was any way they could get me in same day (not expecting them to say yes as it's November and their peak season for snow tires). I spoke with Matthew on the phone and he was friendly and cheerful and he told me to bring my car in same day. I told him the catch was that I worked until 5 in Coquitlam and might not make it there in time and he said he would stay late if need-be. I ended up getting off work early so I wasn't keeping them past close. Although I had a bit of a wait, this was no issue considering they went out of their way to help me out. I dealt with two other guys in the shop and one lady over the phone and they were all exceptional. I left with two new tires and a smile on my face (which does not happen often after spending money on my car). Kudos gentlemen (and lady). read more

I dropped a flat tire off at 10:00 am and was told it would be ready at 3 pm. It was not even ready at 4. 6 hours and they didn't repair it. I was told "loose" tires don't get placed ahead of dropped of vehicles, which is understandable, but I wouldn't have thought my tire would get bumped back whenever people showed up. Went in to buy tires for some new rims that I purchased, they said they would mount them for free, so of course I said yes. After my car was on the lift for an hour and a half, they had finally put the new wheels on and lowered it down, went to back it off and it wouldn't move. They told me the tires were rubbing in the rear and I would need to get spacers. They then took about 15 minutes to put the old wheels back on. Later, after I bought spacers for the rear, I went to put the wheels on myself, only to find that the lug bolts had been severely over-torqued and my lock nut key was bent so I couldn't use it anymore. I went back to the shop to get them to do things properly, and get my key replaced, and they told me I had to wait almost a week. I continued to drive across the street to the BMW dealership and had everything done in 15 minutes. Never going back to this Kal Tire again. read more

Ryan, Brad and Mike helped to get winter tires for my 2 cars. Even though it took more than a visit. They got me the correct wheels after a wrong online selection on one of the 'strange fit'. The installing team members were great too. Bagging and collecting all summer pieces and load to my car afterwards. Just make sure you booked an appointment online first before you visit. Or order online for even faster service. During seasonal change over period, it can take weeks to get a time slot. Lineup (in store and phone) will be long so don't wait till last minute. read more

Zero star out of 5 on the rating scale if it were possible. Another legit review here regarding my experience at kal tire Boundary. It will be short and I will not go into full details. As I have brought this matter to attention to the store front and also people who matter. You want satisfying customer service? You want informed tire technician advice on tires? Well then come to kal tire on Boundary if you want to take a gamble. That is exactly what I did and they have failed on all levels. This location on Boundary did not live up to its image in the game and failed to provide service industry standards. In fact this store front failed so hard I had to use all my online resources to get someone from kal to listen to me. No return calls to me at store front from Kal tire Boundary. Tried numerous times and waited patiently giving them the benefit of the doubt. Patience ran thin and I got in contact with live chat agent on kal online web store. So after getting the store managers email address(Ryan) through online chat and leaving a detailed email of my scenario in hopes of a response. He does not respond after sufficient time has passed. So that has led me to believe he couldn't fulfill one of his job task and to this day he has not responded to my email. This shows full transparency that the store manager does not care about all its customers. When I pay for tires and get promised a date for it's arrival and it's past that said date. I deserve an answer at the very least, so pick up your phone and return calls or emails or whatever it is. Do your job. So in the end I got my tires and I'm happy but it came with the price of me going the extra mile to get answers. That being said I would gladly still do business with Kal Tire on Boundary but not in the near future. I will give them some time to get things together and maybe I'll drop by again one day. As my recent experience went wrong from start to finish. I would like to mention a shout out to Adam M. from Kal Tire's Customer Relations Representative Team as he executed above and beyond customer support. Adam prompted a efficiently quick reply while taking me seriously. This shows he cares about us customers and in return I wish you success. It's been twice that I dropped my car there for winter tires, before they are open, for the day. Twice I called in advance to let them know and they took my name on the phone and the info of my cars. Twice I dropped the keys in the mail slot with my name, my car details and the service I need it inside of an envelope. The first time, they "lost" my reservation and didnt know why my car was on the lot so they didnt do any work on it although it was obvious with 4tires in the back of the car. The second time, they "lost" my keys but found them at some point. Twice I called at my lunch time to follow up and see if the work was done and twice they put me on hold for over thirty minutes while they look into it. They also made sure to bounce me between all the front staff while they look into it and they made sure that I had to repeat what I said to the previous one. This was an awful experience for me. I've dealt with this particular location before for my wife's car, and it was ok, but for my car it was just awful. I needed two tires mounted on my car, and I called around for pricing. After seeing that all the prices were about the same ($80 for two tires mounted and balanced), I just went to the one closest to my home. I called them to see when I can bring in my wheels (off the car) in to get the work done and they said whenever since I didn't need to leave my car. I also specifically told them that my tires are low profiles (225/35/19) and if they can handle it. The guy on the phone reassured me (several times) that it wouldn't be a problem. So I dropped my wheels off on July 24th. I got a call later saying that they had trouble getting the low pro's on, but they managed it. I went to pick them up without a problem, and they were bagged up ready to go. They were priced like $20 less than everywhere else (even less than the other Kaltire that I called). But when I got home, I noticed that they mounted the two tires for the same side of the car (the tires have specified direction of rotation, so cannot be mounted on the wrong side of the car), when I asked them to replace tires of opposite sides. I know, I probably should have specified, but I really thought it would be common sense when replacing tires that those particular wheels would be going back on the same side of the car from where they came from. At least, if they weren't sure, you'd think they'd call or something. But I had to call them as I couldn't put them on my car like this. They again assured me that they'll fix it right away and that it shouldn't be a problem. I drove down immediately to get the problem solved. I watched in horror as TWO techs were YANKING on the tire trying to pry it off, without any care or attention to my wheel. After about a half hour, the guy I was dealing with came up to me and asked me if I ever noticed damage to my tire. I went to see what he was talking about, I couldn't believe that he actually asked me if i "noticed this damage before", as there was a gashing tear all around the sidewall of the tire! They completely tore it up, like they had no idea what they were doing. Then the guy blamed these low-pro tires, and said that he'll order a replacement right away and that it shouldn't be more than a week. So this was July 25th. I called back on July 28th just to check the status, and this guy (I think his name was Ryan) said that since the tire is coming from the east, it'll take at least another week (which is not what I was told at first). So I waited a week. The following week I was honestly too busy to call or even go to them to pick the wheel up during business hours, so I just left it. I called again on August 11th to check the status of this tire, and Ryan again said he had no idea and that he'll check on it for me and call me back. Well he did and said that it was slated to come in August 28th, and that there was a shipping error and he'll put a rush on it right away. Again, there were no calls made to me to tell me about this error, instead I had to call and follow up with the mistake that they made in the first place. I called again on August 20th just to check again, with fears of the worst. The guy I talked to had no idea what I was talking about and said he had to check, then I heard some one else in the background say that it was done already. And so he says, "oh, the tire arrived and has been mounted already." It has??? And why wasn't I notified at all? I told him that I didn't get a call or anything, and he just sheepishly said "sorry" and that was it. I told them I'd be by later to pick it up. I had to pick up the next day, August 21 (4 weeks exactly from when I first dropped off my rims) to pick up the single wheel. The guy helping me offered no apologies for the wait, didn't offer to help me put it in my car until I was already walking away, and didn't seem to care that I had to follow up with them with everything. When I got home and took the wheel out of my trunk, I noticed that they chewed up the lip and even the face of my wheel pretty bad. Granted, the wheel wasn't in pristine condition, but it is definitely way worse now. I guess I could have called to complain, but frankly I've had it with these guys, at least with this set of rims. And they didn't even bother to at least wipe off the grease they used to get the tire on, so it looked pretty gross with that gunk still on the rubber. I gave 2 stars because when I dealt with them for mounting my wife's standard sized wheels (225/45/17), they were fine and they were somehow priced a little less than others. Before I justify the bad rating I give to Kal Tire, I like to state that I was a happy customer for almost 2 decades. Kal looked after all the tire and battery needs for all the cars my family owned. Over the years, I had referred many friends and family members to them. The reason I chose them was the fact they will change over your winter tires in the spring and summer tires in the fall for free, for as long as I own the cars. At least that was promised when I purchased the tires. Kal is not the cheapest but I was happy to pay a little more for that service. Their reps are usually friendly. Now my complaint: I was in Kal recently and the rep told me Kal no longer honour the free swap service. I think it is a huge mistake on their part. Sure, it cost them time / money to provide that service but at the same time, it is the edge they have over their competitors. Now they are no better than anybody else and I may as well price shop for the cheapest. It is fine if they want to make a policy change but I think the least they can do is grandfather the customers who were promised the service. I will think twice before using Kal again. I had contacted all the people I referred Kal to and they all agreed with me. I hope the management at Kal headquarters will think hard about restoring the service. It is so easy to lose a customer (in my case, a customer who was with them for 2 decades) and so hard to gain a new one. read more
