Great employees very helpful. One particular manager is very unprofessional with female cashiers in front of store. Overheard now on two occasions his berating and demeaning tone out loud in front of customers. May not shop there anymore if I hear this man bully younger females. Please send him to manager school. Tried calling this location to see if they carry a certain tool that ai needed before driving the 40+ minute commute from my home first time I called I was transferred to the appropriate department and waited on hold for 15 minutes with no answer so then I hung up and called back and 3 times in a row the employee that answers the main line picked up the phone and just immediately hung up on me. After waiting for about 15 minutes I tried calling one last time and my call was answered but when I asked to be transferred to the department again and told them how no one had picked up the first time, this individual responded by saying "well, all I can do is try again" in a clearly, irritated and annoyed voice. To which I responded "I understand I was just letting you know there may not be anyone in that department at the moment." They transferred my call and after waiting for another 12 minute hold time the phone was answered and immediately hung up without anyone saying a single word. I tried calling back 2 more times but now they will not even answer my calls at the main line. So all I can say is that this store has absolutely lost a customer who purchases items at their store on a weekly, if not daily basis, and from now on, I will gladly drive even further to take my business to one of their competitors. read more

I got my 6 little ladies here and they all turned out to be hens! 4 months later and they all seem to be in good health. The workers had no idea what breeds they were, but that's all part of the fun imo! The people there are a little slow though so don't go if you're in a rush. Asides from the chickens, they usually have what I want. Returns are a pain in the butt tho that require a manager to sign off on it. Doesn't matter if there's a long line or not, and it's the cashiers then who have to deal with the angry/frustrated customers. I feel kind of bad for them - if you're reading this and you work there, know that we're not mad at you, we're mad at your policies. If you're reading this and are an angry customer, don't take it out on the workers! They're doing their best. Edit 8/22 - Okay, Big R's nice, but there's no reason for me to have to wait on hold for 1/2 an hour just to find out if they have an item. I probably would have had to wait even longer if I hadn't hung up. Now, I'm not blaming the workers, but I am blaming the store. You need to hire more people and/or maybe fix your system so that your people can check inventory from the computer. read more

Canon City, Colorado store. No disinfectant wipes for the carts when you walk in. No hand sanitizer to be found anywhere for customers. Providing these is standard now at most major retailers especially during this COVID pandemic---Walmart, City Market, Home Depot, Safeway, etc.... So, perhaps FOX news and Trump are providing their public health guidance. Or maybe they are so cheap they won't spring for the cost of these materials. I was pretty stoked when they opened, but they have generally fallen short. What I mean was that I went to BIG-R first, many, many times, PURELY to be supportive of a new business in the area. After they didnt have what I needed, (elecrical, firearms, plumbing and lumber) I ended up making a longer journey to a better place up the road. If you live up here you know what I mean, and If you just go up the road and across the street from the Elementary school, you are more likely to find what you are looking for.... I went 3-4 times for firearms related items, and the guys that run that area are more concerned with their own agenda than doing right by customers. For example, when shopping for a concealed firearm for my wife, rather than rather than helping me find one that suited my/her needs, they convinced us both that what we wanted was "wrong" and that we were "stupid to want a such-and-such" gun. Not that it matters, the point is that we were told we were dumb.......So, we took our dumb dollars to another store and bought our stupid choices from them and we are prefectly happy - way to go Big-R!..... read more

Really good hardware selection. I recommend trying Big R before driving down the hill to Home Depot. They have some parts I could not find at Home Depot or other stores, since they really cater to our needs up here. The staff there is very skilled and helpful. I've also bought a few shirts there, which are high quality. They can tune and repair chain saws. read more

I had picked up a hydraulic cylinder for a project and needed a 2nd one. When I checked with the store on Friday it was going to be weeks to get another one. Chris in hardware offered to get one transferred from another store in about a weeks time. When I offered to go to Monument to pick it up he came up with a plan to have the store manager's to swap it at a meeting over the weekend. Chris called first thing Monday to say the cylinder was in. Bought a chicken coop, no where on the product outside the store did it say for display only, so I bought it and when I went out to get it, the man that walked me out was rude when I said, Oh I backed up to it,, his reply was no you have to go to the other side, I said well its right there, his reply, you don't get the built one unless we sell all the other you have to build,, well it doesn't say display only on it, he shrugged his shoulders and walked off, so I went in to Ally and said I need a refund as it doesn't say display only on your coops and a 70 year old lady is not going to be able to put a coop together so maybe I could talk to your manager,, she ignored my request and gave me a refund,, needless to say wont buying anymore from them read more

We have found the store to have a good selection of items. We always seem to get there just before closing time. They have been extremely helpful and curteous. I think this is a clean and well run store and will be coming back again for more purchases. read more

I like Big R and shop there a lot. There is one snotty bad review from someone in Morrison. His complaint seems to be that it is not a hardware store. It certainly isn't. It is a Farm and Ranch supply store. I also shop the hardware store he mentioned, which has plumbing and lumber but does not have a firearms department nor does it carry horse shoes and nails. It's one thing to give a bad review, quite another to knock the store because it is not the type of store that carries the things he needed. The supermarket in that center doesn't carry plumbing and lumber either. perhaps he will write a bad review about it. read more

I recently purchased a pellet stove from my Big R store in Conifer Co. After about 90 days my stove developed a problem. I called the Warranty phone number in the manuel and dealt with the warranty. dealing with the warranty dept for 4 days and not getting any results I called Bobby (the store manager) at Big R to see if he could put any pressure on service as a representive of Big R. I explained my situation to Bobby and he said he would take care of it and call me back. Within an Hour and before Bobby could call me back I had a call from the manufacture (Heatilator). We went through a series of test on the phone and heatilator determined the problem to be a control board. They said they would Fed Ex me a new contril board and I would have it tomorrow. True to their word, it came the next day and fixed my problem. I wish I had called Bobby in the first place. Bobby assured me that if there were any expenses not covered by warranty that he would take care of it. This is not the first time I have had exceptional service from Bobby and his crew.
