What an amazing experience...again. I just picked up my 1972 Cutlass Supreme and couldn't be happier! This is either the 11th or 12th transmission they have done for me. Just this year they have also rebuilt the C6 in a 77 F150 2WD and the transmission and transfer case in my 78 Bronco 4X4. I really appreciate them taking care of my classics, but they've also done the transmissions in my Ranger 4x4, Cadillac STS4, Charger RT AWD and more. They have also done brakes, air conditioning, etc. for us. No one wants the expense of a car repair but when I pay for my repair, I feel I've gotten great value and it always comes with amazing customer service. Did I mention that I go out of my way to use them? I live at least 45 minutes away and when I've been stranded, I've had vehicles towed long distances just so I'd have the piece of mind that comes from doing business with someone I trust. Extremely dissatisfied and disappointed. Took my F150 because my transmission was slipping. They quoted me $6,500 to replace the transmission but wouldn't provide me with the estimate. I took it to Downriver Transmission, who a friend trusts, where they found the transmission fluid was low due to a corroded line and transfer case seal. They also replaced the bushing and U joints. All for under $1,500. More than 1,000 miles later it's running great and doesn't need a transmission. A Plus didn't mention checking the fluid level or the line, etc. At best, this seems negligent for not checking the level. At worst, they would have replaced a transmission that didn't need to be replaced then maybe found the other stuff. Yes, it was inconvenient but totally worth it to save at a minimum $5,000. read more

I originally gave them one star. Alex the manager called me to work things out. I am very pleased with the way he handled the situation. I would give zero stars if I could. I was quoted 10 to 14 days and $600 plus parts to rebuild my working transmission. I get a call 22 days after I dropped it off to tell me it would be $1400 and another week IF they can get parts. The complete parts kit to rebuild my transmission is about $500 from a good website. A rebuilt transmission from AutoZone is $1400. WTF I am never doing business with A Plus again. I am left with a pile of parts because I will not trust them to put it back together. read more

My F150 had transmission problems. Wasn't sure where to go but found A Plus on line and took a chance because of mostly positive reviews. Turns out I made the right choice. Have used A-Plus for years. They're a great company who is willing to work with you on payments and always diagnose the heart of the issue. Great customer service, awesome shuttle drivers, and usually return the vehicle within 2-3 days. Pricing can be expensive but you get what you pay for in auto care. They've done work on 3 of my vehicles over the years and they're the only place I go to get jobs done. Highly recommended! read more

This past week I noticed that my ABS and brake lights came on in my 2002 Dodge Ram 1500. I was pretty worried because I know a few things about brakes and I knew that it could be costly. So I decided to take it to A Plus Transmission, and by the way this is not the first time that I have gone to them to get some work done! There customer service was exceptional. They were extremely nice and professional! They gave me updates about my vehicle every few hours and constantly made sure that my best interest was their top priority! I don't yelp very often so I wanted to make it very clear that this place truly is an A plus! I have never gotten the kind of customer care and support that I received here! Not to mention they are fast ! I work in Ann Arbor so I needed my car for work and they diagnosed and repaired my vehicle within 48 hours and now I am right back to driving it to work with no problems. Highly suggest that you find some place else. They will install inferior parts that fail out of warranty. They will argue with you as if they are all knowing and you are just the dumb consumer. They will attempt to soil your reputation in the community if you challenge them. Be forewarned. All those stories that you have ever heard about Transmission Repair shops apply. Having spent over $600 here I finally had my vehicle fixed at a reputable shop for $400 where the same part was replaced. I now have a lifetime warranty on the new repair. read more

Found this A Plus highly reccomended by other sites and I took the time to have them do a simple tranny flush on my Pontiac Vibe. The guys were very polite and patient over the phone and at the counter. I scheduled an appt, got my car there on time and it was completed on time. I didn't have a ride back to the house and I took advantage of their "porter" service. They drove me back home and picked me up when the car was ready. How Convenient! I've got more work to be done on my cars and will defintely be coming back to this shop. Thanks for the great service. read more

This is NOT the place to take your car, truck, or bicycle as far as I'm concerned. They're thieves, the kind of place that gives other good repair shops a bad name. The story is too long, but believe me go to any other trans. Shop!!! That's because you tried to rip me off and I had my truck removed from your business...you held my keys hostage and I sued you for the charge you put on my credit card! And I won my suit against you! Remember?!?! If not it's because I must not be the only one! Your son showed me a transmission on a table and said that is a transmission...not my transmission and your son said that they pulled the pan off my truck and I went out and looked at it and it was NEVER touched!!! I took pictures!!! So I forgot to post this...when looking at your Yelp other people say that you use inferior parts. I'm glad we didn't have you do anything to my truck. This is a very honest auto shop! I just had my 2003 Tahoe in for a a transmission problem - it wasn't shifting correctly. I have to say I was sure it was going to be a major expense with the age of it. After they checked it out they discovered it wasn't the transmission at all, but a catalytic converter on my exhaust. Alex was a good guy to deal with, I felt very comfortable with his expertise and knowledge. I felt pricing was very fair. I will be back now that I know they do all types of auto repair. Thanks guys! My car was hesitating out of first gear . Acting like the trans was going. While getting brakes and rotors put on at another shop (I won't mention their name) they said they ran a diagnostic on the trans , they gave me this code number and said that it is something in my transmission and that they don't do the work but it will be over a $2,000 repair and that is just labor. So I went to another transmission shop in Brighton (I won't mention their name either) . I gave them the code number and asked what they would charge and they said $2,800 without asking me any questions of what exactly is my car doing or anything. So I walked out of that place. Then I went into A+ Transmission. Alex took the time to talk to me about what my car was doing. He said that it may NOT be the transmission. That it was most likely the electrical control Cylinder and that is less than $800 fix. He was able to get my car right into the garage and had a diagnosis within one hour and this was at 4:00pm in the afternoon. The mechanics noticed that I had a small transmission leak from the hoses and was able to repair that before it became a problem. I highly recommend A Plus transmission for all your auto repairs! Don't waste your time on this place. I scheduled an inspection for a transmission diagnosis and was told to drop off my car at 8:00 am, which I did. I do not have alternate transportation and had to take that Friday off work. I did not hear from them by 4:45, so I called and was told they were running behind and would call me back. A half hour later they called & said they could not replicate any transmission issues I referenced and would need to keep my car over the weekend. I had them pick me up so I could retrieve my car. When I arrived at A-Plus, the mechanic told me they drove my car all over the place and didn't experience any issues. When I checked the mileage, they had driven only 2 miles. I took my vehicle to Mazur Automotive in Hamburg and was told there was transmission fluid everywhere and it was 2 quarts low. Obviously, A-Plus didn't even look under the hood ... unbelievable and unacceptable. Considering their lack of integrity and their lack of respect for my time, I will not be back and would not recommend A Plus to anyone. read more
