    Chicken fingers

Very convenient after a hike, came here after hiking Mt Manuel and got the chicken fingers. They were very healthy, no grease and not much salt but they came out fast. Side salad was very good. Indoor and outdoor seating with lots of natural lighting. Prices are lower than most of Big Sur.

The lodge is located near many hiking paths and is a great place to stop after finishing a hike! There is plenty of seating inside and a good variety of options to choose from. We got the ice cream and the Freida, which were pretty good. They have a smaller selection of ice cream flavors, but the quality of the ice cream is good.

Hidden gem indeed. Perfect place to get a quick bite before a lovely hike. Ordered coffee and a chicken aioli sandwich. The staff were kind and service fast. Maybe it was a slow day but we were the only ones in the restaurant

Nice ambience, sitting in the middle of giant redwoods. Great service. The bread was amazing. BLT was excellent. Just like the sandwich, breads, the bread bowl on the clam chatter was excellent, however, the chef is supposed to make sure they don't have a clam chowder that's on the dry side on the bread bowl.

Delicious food, friendly service, and stunning ambiance surrounded by majestic redwood trees. A must-visit in Big Sur!

We had a great experience here because Kristy was our server. She made the dining experience flawless, my husband had some very strange requests for things that weren't on the menu and she genuinely tried to figure out how to make it happen. We ended up just genuinely enjoying being around her because she brought a refreshing energy and truly finds joy in what she does. The food is also unbelievable and Kristy even got a peanut butter lover cake for me from the freezer because I was so excited to try it and we're leaving tomorrow. In fact, I've saved that peanut butter cake until this very moment. I'll snap a picture of the cake before I devour it. Everything on the menu is delicious, I had the salmon salad and I pretty much inhaled it, my body craved its nourishment. Salmon cooked perfectly with a nice crisp to the outside and even a slight brown. The crunchiness of the salmon with the succulence of the apples the texture of the cashews, you almost forget you're eating a salad. I don't care if it's healthy or not because my entire being felt better after eating it. Anyway, I'm gonna eat this cake. This restaurant is epic and such a blessing to experience while we're in one of the most beautiful places in the world.

Really good service! Waitress was really really nice. We are staying at the Big Sur Lodge, so it's nice to have this restaurant here. Burger was delicious. Wings good too. Soup was good as well just very thick. Nice outdoor patio by the river.

Fish taco. Not fried fish. No sauce on the side. I didn't bother to ask. Still good

This is located back of the lodge. They have outside patio for dog friendly. I didn't know there was stairs on the side going to the patio. I carried my dog in to go to patio. No one tried tell me I entered the wrong way. I think they were ok with it. Service was good. They seem busy but acknowledge how long was the wait. Checked on me after I got my foods.

It was happy hour after our hike to Pfeffier Falls and Valley View so we decided to stop in to grab a quick bite. Food/Taste/Flavor: 3/5 - appetizer wing came with 5 wings only but the flavoring of the lemon pepper was strong and cooked well. The calamari was disappointing as it was overcooked (fried to death) and you can't tell what you were eating anymore. The dipping sauces were nice though Ambience: NA - took the food to go Service: 5/5 - lad was chill and nice Value for price: 1/5 - happy hour price of $10 per plate was decent for where we're located but the food quality and quantity drops the rating

Pleasantly surprised about the Big Sur Lodge Restaurant. They have lots of excellent souvenir items. Did not get a chance to try the food, but the ice cream is amazing. Great selection at a price that will not break the bank. The seating area provides lots of rustic, backwoods comfort too. Apparently there is an outdoor bar in the back, but was there too early to enjoy it. If you are at Big Sur State Park, be sure to stop by here before or on your way back.

The food is a little pricey, but I thought the breakfast burrito was well worth it. It was a generous portion, tasted delicious, and paired with the incredible view, it made for a great breakfast. My husband also really enjoyed the Reuben. The only thing we probably wouldn't order again is the kid's quesadilla. It's just cheese in a tortilla, and there isn't an option to add any protein. Next time, I'd probably just share my breakfast burrito with my little one instead. Overall, I'd highly recommend checking this spot out if you get the chance. Great food, beautiful scenery, and a perfect place to enjoy a relaxing morning meal.

Not a lot of commercial stuff. One of the most popular and well-known eatery is Nepenthe, always crowded and murderous, skimpy parking. A challenge for sure parking and also getting seated. Come early or late, but at prime time your best bet is to walk down the hill to Cafe Kevah, just below the main bar and restaurant. Excellent ocean-side viewing and a decent menu. If you are traveling along the highway, see if you can call ahead for reservations. Kevah serves, meals, pastries and drinks. Put your figurative seat belt on as the prices are California and touristy. Breakfast, granola at $18.50 up to their eggs benedict at $36.50. Until noon. Order at their central counter. Salads from $20.75 - $28.75, Sandwiches serve with mixed greens from $17.75 - $24.50. Kids can get a PB&J or Quesadilla for $9 each. More limited than the full bar and menu uphill at Nepenthe but easy to get seated/not too long of wait for table, less crowded and OK, but not cheap food. It is worth a stop here. If going further south there is another place called Ragged Point, depending on traffic, may be 2 hours more south. Enjoy.

Between the amazing people who have become friends over the years to great home cooked meals and atmosphere (the ocean is practically across the road), I cannot get enough of this place! This trip I took a longtime friend with me and although it's been two days since we were there, she's still saying how impressed she was. She was absolutely floored that they use real butter and the portions were huge. In fact the portions were so big that I couldn't even finish half of my food! And I was HUNGRY! LOL Maura and her brother (which I apologize I can't remember his name) both helped us. Maura sat us and we spoke for a quick minute, and her amazing brother served us. I can't believe it don't recall his name! But everyone there is AWESOME! I was tempted to get the super fresh salad, but decided instead on the clam chowder (as did Alicia), and the salmon was perfectly cooked. The veggies were so fresh and flavorful and the rice was exceptionally fluffy and seasoned perfectly. Not to mention the garlic toast was next level. I can't wait to get back over there! Their blueberry pancakes are calling my name! Trust me, if you want a good old fashioned stick to your bones diner, this place right here checks all the boxes! Plus it's pet friendly, if you choose to sit on the patio!

The selection is more limited than Big Sur Bakery but includes a solid choice of coffee drinks and pastries before offering some hot kitchen items like a breakfast sandwich starting at 9:30. The vibes of the building and the indoor and outdoor seating space are top notch with manicured lawns, rustic wood tables and open spaces. The Village only Parking is plentiful and its adjacent to the convenient General Store for supplies and the River Inn for lodging. We ordered a sampling of their $9 lattes (Chai and Matcha) and coffee (espresso tonic) as well as several pastries. The highlight were the candy cap (mushroom) muffins and chocolate chip cookie although I also enjoyed the baguette sandwich. Nepenthe, Big Sur: Where the View Is the Experience…read more There are restaurants you visit for the food, and then there are places like Nepenthe in Big Sur, where the setting becomes an unforgettable part of the meal. About 2.5 hours from the San Francisco Bay Area, the drive itself is part of the experience, winding through the spectacular Big Sur coastline until you arrive at this coveted little perch overlooking the Pacific. And the location? An easy five stars. Dramatic cliffs, endless ocean, rugged California coastline, and that feeling of being completely removed from the everyday. It is one of those places where you instinctively pause for a moment and think, how lucky are we to be here? We stopped in for a leisurely lunch, and Nepenthe delivered on every front. The menu isn't particularly extensive, but I actually loved that about it. There's something wonderfully unfussy about a restaurant that doesn't need pages and pages of options because it knows what it does well. My husband ordered the Ambrosia Burger with house fries, along with a Monterey Mule, while I went for the Shrimp BLT with a greens salad and a rosé recommended by our server. Everything was delicious, fresh, flavorful, and satisfying without trying too hard. It felt perfectly suited to the setting, elevated enough to feel special, but relaxed enough that you can sit back, take in the view, and simply enjoy yourself. And then there was the hospitality. The service was quick, warm, and genuinely welcoming, which made the experience even better. A special mention to Adrien at reception, who was absolutely lovely. He was so sweet and made sure we got a really good table, which meant we could settle in and truly enjoy the spectacular surroundings. What makes Nepenthe special, though, is that you're not simply going there to have lunch. You're going for the moment. You're sitting above the Pacific, watching the coastline stretch endlessly into the distance, enjoying a glass of rosé, sharing a meal with someone you love, and realizing that this is exactly what a California road trip should feel like. We ended up spending much longer there than we initially planned, and honestly, that's the point. Nepenthe is a place to linger. Don't rush through lunch. Take your time, soak up the views, enjoy the food, and let the afternoon unfold. For us, it was one of those wonderfully simple travel moments that ends up becoming a favorite memory. The location: The food: 1/2 The service: The experience: Come for the iconic Big Sur views. Stay for the food, the hospitality, and the feeling of being somewhere truly extraordinary.
