Even though this room is set back furthest from the precipice, I had amazing views of cotton candy clouds each Dawn and dusk. The bathroom is very small but functional. The bed was comfortable with decent pillows and warm blanket. All important as I opted to sleep with the window open to hear the ocean during the early spring night. The lodge is a perfect base to explore Big Sur by day. A continental breakfast with slices of sweet breads, hard boiled eggs, juice, and cutie oranges is provided each morning. There is a Keurig in each room with coffee and tea. The breakfast is an alternative to a hot breakfast since the lodge's restaurant burned down in a wildfire and has not yet been rebuilt. Keep this in mind for dinner since there are no other services nearby. I recommend packing some wine, tinned fish, and crackers to make the most of a sunset dinner looking out to the Pacific and waves crashing against the magnificent cliffs.

Rooms are rustic, but comfortable. You aren't getting the Four Seasons, but you are getting a beautiful getaway in Big Sur. We even got our own little cat that decided to follow us around all over the place and hang out with us on our patio all night. Strangely there are no locks on the outside of the doors, but we didnt mind. After staying in other places in Big Sur, this is going to be our go to from now on. No need to spend thousands of dollars a night at some of the other places when everywhere you look around Big Sur is beautiful.

We reached the gate around 8pm in complete darkness, with no network service and no easy way to get in. The winding dirt road lined with grapevines felt a little intimidating in the dark, and I have to admit, we were feeling a bit unsure at first. But once we sorted out the gate and settled in, everything changed. The next morning, we headed out for a hike in the forest, and with the sunrise lighting up the hills, we finally saw just how incredibly beautiful this location truly is. What felt a little scary the night before transformed into rolling countryside, peaceful vineyards, and breathtaking views. When we returned from our hike, I began to fully appreciate and fall in love with the entire property. In the daylight, The Pinnacle Inn feels warm, welcoming, and truly like home. It felt more like staying with friends than going to a hotel or Inn. The Inn is gorgeous. Just a mile or so from the park and we had a pool, free breakfasts and wine tasting. Loved it. I am an innkeeper and consider myself pretty picky when it comes to comfort and cleanliness. When traveling with a dog it isn't always easy to find such nice places to stay. We especially enjoyed the artwork in every room and the upstairs deck where we sat with a bottle of wine and watched the sun set into the ocean. The neighborhood is peaceful and quiet, all you hear is the ocean! The location can't be beat. Cambria is a great town and the elephant seals and Hearst Castle are just minutes to the North. Fun towns and dog-friendly beaches to explore just minutes to the south. We never went more than 15 minutes north or south and we were busy every minute. Elaine could not have been more friendly and helpful. She left us alone to enjoy our romantic getaway but we always knew we could reach her by phone or email if needed. I paid approximately $576 for each campsite and I got two campsites, and I expected a much better experience for that cost. The campground was extremely overcrowded. The campsites were so small and tightly packed together that it felt like one campsite had been divided into two just to fit more guests and increase revenue. There was very little privacy, and the overcrowding took away from the natural beauty of Big Sur. Instead of feeling peaceful, the campground felt congested and, at times, looked unkempt because there were simply too many people in such a limited space. Another major concern was the cleanliness of the restrooms. Throughout our stay, the bathrooms frequently had toilet paper on the floors and were not maintained to the standard I would expect, especially considering the premium price of the campground. The amenities also did not meet expectations. The campground advertises complimentary firewood and ice, which sounds like a great benefit. However, guests are limited to one bundle of firewood and one bag of ice per day. While this may be enough for some campers, the advertising makes it seem more generous than it actually is. Big Sur is one of the most beautiful places in California, and I was excited to stay here. Unfortunately, the overcrowding, lack of cleanliness, and high price made the experience feel like poor value. I don't mind paying premium prices for a premium experience, but this campground did not deliver one. Sadly, I don't think I would choose to stay here again, and I hope management will consider reducing overcrowding, improving restroom maintenance, and being more transparent about what is included with the campsite.

Based on our experience, I would never book an ocean-view room during these months again. We paid nearly $10,000 for two nights in one of the resort's premium ocean-view accommodations because the breathtaking ocean views shown throughout their website were the main reason we chose this property. Unfortunately, during our entire stay, the ocean view was completely hidden by dense fog. We never saw the spectacular view that was advertised and pictured online. What disappointed us most was the lack of transparency. The website showcases beautiful, clear ocean views but does not adequately prepare guests for the possibility that the view may be completely obstructed for an entire stay during certain times of the year. If guests are paying thousands of dollars specifically for an ocean-view room, they deserve clear information about the seasonal risk of persistent coastal fog so they can make an informed decision. Throughout our stay, we repeatedly asked staff whether the fog would clear. We were consistently told that it would likely clear within a few hours. Unfortunately, that never happened. The fog remained throughout our stay, and we never got to enjoy the ocean view we paid a premium for. What made this even more frustrating was that, after repeatedly being told by multiple staff members that the fog would clear soon, one employee later told us that they were not supposed to tell guests that the weather was expected to remain the same for several days and that these foggy conditions are common during this time of year. According to that employee, this type of weather often persists throughout much of the summer season. I cannot independently verify that statement, but if that information was accurate, it raises serious concerns about transparency. Guests spending thousands of dollars for an ocean-view room deserve honest information about the likelihood of actually seeing the ocean during their stay. The room itself also had maintenance issues. The bar sink was clogged, and the shower valve/faucet was loose and repeatedly fell while being used. We reported both problems, but neither was repaired during our stay. Staff apologized, but no one came to address the issues. For a property charging close to $5,000 per night, I expected much better communication, transparency, maintenance, and overall value. I fully understand that the weather is beyond the hotel's control. However, what is within their control is how honestly they communicate the risk of seasonal fog to potential guests. Had we known there was a realistic possibility of spending our entire stay looking at a wall of fog instead of the Pacific Ocean, we would have chosen different travel dates, a different room category, or a different destination altogether. The property itself is beautiful, but based on our experience, the value did not come close to justifying the cost. If an ocean view is important to you, think very carefully before booking an ocean-view room during the late spring and summer months.

I knew that going in. It was still starker than I expected. Start with the property. When that is the view off your deck, why go anywhere else? Stunning doesn't cover it. We hiked much of the grounds and every turn delivered something new. The kind of place that makes you slow down without even trying. Then the restaurant. Everything was perfect -- service, quality, execution. Much of the food sourced on property or from the surrounding community. My wife declared the salad the best she'd ever had. High praise for a salad. High praise, full stop. Special shout out to our server Yasmany and bartender Thomas -- both exceptional. What struck me most was how effortless the entire staff made it look. These are people who deal with guests from around the world, all arriving with high expectations of a high-end experience. And yet nothing felt forced. Nobody appeared to be trying to impress us. It was just perfect service, perfectly delivered. That's the rarest thing in hospitality. Highlight of the trip. Hands down. And I suspect, never to be repeated.

I deducted a star because no AC, mini fridge nor microwave (but we knew this coming in). I think there's a portable fan in the room though. I wish they had a microwave in the common area. Walls are thin so bring ear plugs if you're sensitive to noise especially since they're pet friendly (thank goodness our dog only barked a couple of times during the night ).

The rooms were clean and well sized, with large bathrooms and comfortable square layouts. One small note: the shower has a half-glass panel, which doesn't fully prevent water from splashing onto the bathroom floor. Pro tip: bring bedroom slippers, as the stone flooring can get chilly . We booked three rooms (8, 19, and 21). All were decent in size, though lighting varied. Room 8 was the darkest, while Room 19 had the brightest natural light. Most rooms include a fireplace, except Room 21. There is no in-room coffee maker, but complimentary coffee and a light breakfast are provided daily in the lobby. The lobby is small but very inviting, and comfortable with a cozy fireplace and stunning views of Moonstone Beach. There's also a second-floor observation deck with even more panoramic ocean views. An excellent spot to enjoy the sunset with a glass of wine. Plenty of parking is available directly in front of the rooms, making it very convenient. There are complimentary beach bicycles for guests but you have to sign a waiver. We went for an early morning ride along Moonstone Beach Dr. It was fantastic!! At $178 per night including taxes and fees, this is hands down one of the best values if you want to stay right by Moonstone Beach. We would absolutely stay here again. Happy Travels!

We made coffee, eggs and toast in the kitchenette every morning and were sent off by Lulu and Pono (the two ranch dogs) before we left for our daily activities. The house is in close proximity to many of the Paso wineries, 30 min to Morro Bay, and 10 minutes to downtown Paso Robles which made it easy to take mid afternoon naps before the next activity. The last day we drank our wine in the Saloon and loved all the interesting artifacts and history. We can't wait to come back in the fall for another visit!
