Derek stopped by on his way home from work one evening to give an estimate. He assessed my tree damage, looked up and under and around. I asked him how he planned to remove it away from the house and patio, without damaging the roof and gutters anymore than they were. I was blown away when he was explaining his plan of attack and when I heard pressure points. He gave me a great deal. He immediately started cutting the tree away. I couldn't believe how much he accomplished in 1 hour; he had not even had dinner yet. He and his team showed up when he said he would return to finish the job. They showed up with working equipment, knew how to use rakes and brooms. The clean-up was outstanding; there was no debris left behind. On Mother's Day my husband took me to the TLC on Memorial to select an orchid. I have 6 orchids in…read moremy home and know how to care of them. The orchid I chose at TLC had a couple of areas on the leaves that looked like cotton. I took it back to the information desk and the women wiped off the white area and told me it would be fine. My husband purchased the orchid for me for $60.00. Unfortunately, the white chalky substance kept coming back. I googled the information and found out it had mealybugs. I followed the directions to clean the area with alcohol. After trying to remove it for two months without success, I took the plant back to TLC today to ask for help. Paul, the manager was at the front door and told me to go to the middle of the store to talk to the woman at the information desk. She determined the mealybugs were in the potting media which is why I could not eliminate them with alcohol. She said she could repot the orchid but there would be a cost. Obviously, the potting media was infected when the orchid was purchased two months ago. I was insulted when told I would have to pay for the repotting process. I spoke with the manager, Paul, and he told me house plants do not have any type of warranty. I learned a lesson today. I will not buy house plants from TLC! The orchid WAS purchased at TLC on May 6! The above story is accurate except for the amount spent ($50 instead of $60). I had not looked up the receipt before coming by TLC yesterday. The reference number on the receipt is 32073802. The total amount spent that day was $122.70. I have 6 very healthy orchids purchased at different locations. The white pot left with the orchid must have been switched while watering. The orchid purchased from Whole Foods is healthy and doing well. Actually, over the years I have never had a problem with an orchid being affected with mealybugs except for the orchid purchased at TLC. One statement you made is correct. This is the first review I have made on YELP because I wanted to let others know that customer service is questionable at your business. I understand policy is policy on the return of houseplants. I was not upset until being told there would be a charge to repot the plant. It didn't make sense for me as the customer, to pay to correct a problem that I wasn't responsible for. It would have cost very little for your employee to offer to repot the plant for free.

They trim trees beautifully (even the really tall ones), remove dead ones, grind stumps, bring a wood chipper, and haul off the rest. Where do I even begin? They have the worst customer service I have ever experienced...Have a…read morebilling issue? Good luck--they'll auto-draft your card that they require to be put on file. Try to dispute a charge? 9 months of attempted communications via phone and email without a RESPONSE. But don't worry--I did receive a monthly email reminder that I had an unpaid bill for $250. The service--who is even in charge? You had to jump through hoops to get anything communicated. They'd send one guy out to mow, then an hour later another guy would show up to edge, and hour later another guy to blow/clean up....so the job that could have been done in an hour took 3 hours of people being in and out of your yard instead. Irrigation--I used Pitzers for about a year and within that year my yard went to crap. I hired a new company and discovered I had 17 sprinkler heads that had been damaged (they assumed it was from mowers/edging) and multiple zones malfunctioning that must have occurred within their year of service. I had noticed trees looking rough and brought attention to Pitzers about it, but they never addressed the issues. I tried to fertilize the trees on my own and increase watering times to no avail. Unfortunately I lost 3 trees this year due to their poor service, even after addressing the concerns with them with no response. There is no accountability with this company. Finally, the way they sent a dismissal email to multiple customers at the same time stating that they were dropping customers without advanced warning is unprofessional, especially in the middle of the season, leaving lots of customers scrambling to find help mid-season. This is a corporate company with lots of communication issues. The "business" side does not communicate well with the "service" side and they are definitely only financially driven, and not interested in customer satisfaction whatsoever.
