Always come here for their great wonderful chefs. Sushi is outstanding. I mainly come for the Origami Hand Roll and sushi I only come for their AYCE. All you can eat. If you eat enough, it's definitely worth it. I always sit at the sushi bar. The tuna special has become my new favorite. It's tuna with a slice of avocado, and chili powder. So bomb when paired with the miso soup lol! I know it's an odd combination but I always ordered the miso soup with my cold sushi. The downside to this place is sometimes there are only a few chefs who are services 2 or more parties. Meaning my party (mom, dad) + (party next to us-mom, dad, 2 kids) + travel service. Sometimes it can be a bit slow waiting for the chef since he's doing many other tables. But hopefully you don't wait too long. The cell service here can be a bit spotty sometimes. ***special shout out to our waitress who is about to be a grandma!!!!!! MISTY !!!!! Where do I start... sigh. It was a somewhat busy Sunday evening happy hour rush and the bar was empty, so we said why not? Word to the wise, don't be tempted like we were. The service was good, initially. I hadn't noticed that I didn't have utensils so when they brought my sushi roll I had nothing to eat with but my hands. See pic attached lol. When I asked the owner, who happened to be walking by at the time, she seemed annoyed. She brought me some chopsticks bot no bowl to put soy sauce in. She didn't bring me soy sauce or Ginger and wasabi, and when I asked again we got the same annoyed attitude. Tried the new spot and well let's say I wasn't to happy, I'm a regular at Big Tuna not sure what's going on here at the new location but service was slow and rolls were less than stellar, I did notice some of the regular employees were missing not sure if owners cut back due to size and price of new location they were there working the floor and kind of messing up the flow of service. I'll give it another try in few weeks and update review then. read more

I relish this place, and remain unreconciled to its no dine-in status. However, because of the kind of restaurant it is, it shut down early and re-opened late, so now it has no staff to re-open. It remains a favorite despite this drawback. I manage my dining urges by walking in to order a take-out meal at Big Tina, skipping the apps, and going next door to BJ's for apps and beverages in the bar for the wait. It makes for a flexible, multi-cultural night out. Among my favorites is the origami hand toll in rice paper. Best to eat this first. It is delicately balanced. The only reason I did not eat til full to bursting with these rolls back in the all-you-can-eat days was because I was ashamed of how much I loved these crunchy, spicy, delicious rolls. Another is the lemon drop roll. The one we got at the bar was a smaller version of the one served to tables. Both are lovely. I prefer the smaller version from the bar. I was almost as obsessed with this as with the Origami. The decor at both the Lancaster location and the Palmdale AV Mall location is simple and elegant in a homey, functional way. The service is very courteous and as prompt as the population of customers allows. It can get super busy in minutes flat. If Sushi is your deal, this restaurant can give you what you crave. Food was good, I've had better sushi but honestly it did the job, fresh and had good taste. My one personal problem with it is the heavy use of mayo. I'm fine with spicy mayo or a a decent use here and there but every time I've gotten a baked roll there it's always got mayo seeping out of it. But if you like mayo then it's all fine. read more

I really got a snobbish vibe from the waitresses. The sushi was ok. I've had better. Nothing that I would go out of my way for again.

We finally got a chance to try out the new spot. Its definitely a big improvement from the other location. This spot is twice as big if not bigger. The bar is the center attention of the restaurant. We were told it was an hour wait but we were seated within 15 mins. Our chef (Albert) was on point talking care of our orders. He was busy and he always made sure everyone was taken care of us. Oscar also hooked it up with my last order 4 spicy yellowtail, 4 spicy salmon and 4 escolar. To our surprise we found Sal back at Big Tuna!!! I definitely can't forget he would have my Shrimp Tempura ready before I even sat down!!! I looked forward to many more visits to this location!!! We love big tuna. Typically hubby and I will do all you can eat and share a soju. We love getting the special sushi, all the sauces and toppings are delicious. We have been ordering Togo obviously due to the pandemic and typically they are speedy and have good order accuracy. Definitely recommend. read more

This has been our "place" to go for everything. Sad events, happy events, date nights, everything. We even supported then during the pandemic to make sure they stayed open. But we are done. The last 4 times we have gone, they raised their prices. And by that I mean for the same things we have ordered for years straight has gone up by $80. $9.50 for two pieces of salmon and a dollar for lemon?! Sorry. We are done. The date of our dine-experience was on a Sunday 4:30pm 3/1/2020 and left around 6:20pm. The restaurant was only at 1/4 filled capacity at the time from what I analyzed when I was being seated . Me and three other friends were seated together in the farthest right back corner. It was 3 of us at first who were seated first. My 4th friend arrived 20 minutes later. This restaurant provided the worst service imaginable. We all ordered sushi and I of course wanted to try ramen because I really enjoy it. It was the worst flavorless ramen I've ever had....Even Top Ramen tasted better than that. Just stick to sushi. The worst infuriating part was when my 4th friend's second order of food took 50 minutes to be served to her because they had forgot about it! While the rest of us had already finished our food. The restaurant wasn't even busy for even to take that long. I was never given one of two piece sushi that I had ordered as well. We were attended by 4 different individuals. First of course is the host, Second our server, Third what I think was probably the manager, and Fourth a different server. I have trouble swallowing my food due medical reasons of my esophagus so I always need water. Not one employee came hack to our table to refill our waters. So I was struggling to eat. We tried to get our 4th friend's food discounted from the bill because it was unacceptable that not one employee came to check on us to see who if satisfied or needed anything else making my friend wait so long for her food. I really love eating here! I've been to other sushi places in the AV but I always end up back at Big Tuna. I love to order the dinner combo with sashimi, 5 piece sushi, and spicy tuna roll. Which come with good sized pieces of sashimi. I am currently pregnant so I enjoyed the crunch roll and shrimp tempura roll. The rolls are good sized and it was package perfectly since everything is take out at the moment. They also put all the sauces on the side so the rolls were not soggy at all. The inside of this location is very nice as well. It bright and welcoming and the staff is very friendly. I can't wait until I can eat sashimi again and dine in. read more

This place has gone down hill in the past two years. I got a baked salmon roll and asked for soy paper which I know the lady wrote down because she read it back. I got my roll with regular seaweed paper and asked to get a new roll with soy paper. My new baked salmon came back not done and fish still raw.. I'm just annoyed. So happy I took a chance on this place! My usual sushi spot is Goldfish but the last three times I went were a really expensive disappointment. Total opposite of this place! Everything here that was a hot item was hot and everything that needed to be cold was cold. Presentation was awesome! Loved that for the to-go orders all the sauces are automatically on the side, all the rolls were wrapped nice and tightly, none of them fell apart. Portion sizes were awesome! Pricing was damn good. So everything we got was, 2 dinner bentos 1st- beef teriyaki, chicken katsu, and a spicey tuna roll. 2nd- California roll, spicey shrimp and crab roll, and a shrimp tempura roll. This location was once our go to in the AV untill our very unpleasant dinning last night. My table came in two separate groups and ordered separately. A mixed girl with gauges and ombre black to red hair came to the table and immediately pressed my friends about their order. She was extremely aggresive and waved her finger in our faces dramatically saying, "What did you order?!" When we told her she snapped back " okay? SO WHAT DID YOU ORDER?!?" Whilst making sassy hand gestures, repeatedly over us while we tried to explain our order 3 TIMES. I was shocked, we had done absolutely nothing to instigate this behavior. After we requested a new waitress and I was very nervous to eat our meal fearing they had done something to it as her and a second girl passively aggressively eyed our table and walked passed us.
