I've been coming to Goldfish Japanese Restaurant for over 10 years now. I was first introduced to this place around 2010 and immediately loved it. Their sushi was great, and I used to really enjoy their beef and chicken bowls. Over the past few years tho, I feel like the food has started tasting different. These days, the main rolls I still like ordering are the salmon and California rolls. I will say, this place still has some of the best California rolls I've ever had. Unfortunately, the beef and chicken bowls don't hit the same way they used to. Sometimes the flavor is just a little bland, so for me it has become more of a hit-or-miss experience. I do still love the atmosphere. The ocean theme is fun, fitting, and very lively, which makes the restaurant feel comfortable and familiar. My orders also usually come out quickly, and the staff have never given me any issues. I don't come here as often as I used to, but it's still one of the few sushi restaurants in the Antelope Valley that I'll go to. read more

Goldfish is a popular spot so expect a small wait. Mine was 40 minutes for takeout. Pickup was smooth, I paid and picked up my order pretty quickly. We ordered the California roll, vegetable roll, green salad, beef Yakisoba, and crispy rice tuna. Everything tasted great. We arrived well before 3pm, but somehow we ended up paying dinner prices. The waitress brought a fork with my food, just me and no one else. When I used chopsticks instead she said "oh so you don't need the fork" as if I asked for it. Beyond the micro aggression, service was just mid. You'd think the food would be good, but it was just ok. I ordered the sushi bento box and it was pretty bland. This place is on par with the other average sushi spots in the area. Recommended this sushi place to my family. Food is amazing, unfortunately the service was terrible on Feb 02/28. Around 12:30pm my family had a rude waitress that gave them so much attitude when asking simple questions regarding the menu. They ended up leaving and the waitress did refuse to give her name. When I inquired about individual plates, I was told by server" we could use our hands. We the server finally got a set up all the food arrived at the same time. We I asked why we're we getting entrees when we just got the starter I was told because the kitchen was very busy. Now we have Ramen that sat on the table getting soggy l and the hot dishes getting cold. Poor timing. No refills on drinks until meal was almost done. Good food, but terrible service ruined the experience I had high hopes for this sushi restaurant because the food was actually quite good -- fresh fish, well-prepared rolls, and a nice variety on the menu. Unfortunately, the service was so poor it completely overshadowed the meal. Our waitress forgot to bring us water that we asked for and my husband asked for a fork (he doesn't use chopsticks), and it never came. Throughout the entire meal, she was inattentive and barely checked in on us and when she did she would forget so what was the point of even asking? As much as I enjoyed the food, service matters -- and this was one of the worst I've experienced in a while. I didn't leave a tip, and I won't be returning. Normally me and my parents enjoy our experience here. We haven't been in a long time though. All the sushi we ordered was very good. However, the ginger tasted like cleaning products had spilled in it. We expressed our concerns to a couple of the workers and one of them agreed that it smelled odd. My dad had already ate some. He is now very sick and has been throwing up. No one said anything else to us about it whole time we were there. Also, we never got the edamame we had ordered in the beginning. We had dinner here last night and I usually order the Bento Box Dinner. One of my items that I picked was the Beef Teriyaki, the Bento Tray is divided up for several items. To my surprise my Beef Teriyaki was such a small portion, we've eaten here many occasions and driving from Rosamond. The one tray that was the largest was filled with a cabbage salad. I've been a loyal customer for 5 years, starting with solo sushi at the bar after work as a teacher, staying with them through COVID, and now bringing my expanding family there. Despite recent disappointments, I'll probably still go. However, my last few visits have been subpar, culminating in a poor experience with a waiter (my stepson called him "Edgar" due to his Peso Pluma haircut). Upon receiving my sushi, I noticed the fish was sliced very thin, almost sheer, and the roll was the diameter of a hot dog. This is not typical. When the waiter asked if everything was good, I politely explained that in my 100+ visits, I had never received sushi of this quality. I showed him the paper-thin fish and the small size of the roll. "Edgar" smiled and said, "Yeah, chefs are slicing the fish thin." I was surprised he admitted this and walked away without offering any support or solution, just a laugh. I understand the cost of business is rising, but so are the prices. Please don't skimp on the quality that has kept people coming back. Consider coaching "Edgar" on complaint management and solutions. It was a Sunday, a full crowd, with all your usual chefs. So odd! read more

I had the Spicy Tuna roll, Beef Roll, and the Ono & Albacore roll. All were very good. My wife had the teriyaki chicken lunch box which was fantastic with big portions.
