We are here three times during our recent stay. Food was hit or miss each time. Service the first night was spectacular service a couple afternoons later was terrible. I do love the location of this restaurant. It's located right in the middle of the landing and it has really big, nice restrooms right inside the door which is convenient. We ate lunch here. The ambiance is really nice. The food was your normal bar food. I had the fried chicken salad. It was okay. Not spectacular but good. I also had the French onion soup. It was not good. It needed better bread in it and the flavor was just not the best. My husband liked his burger wrap and fries but didn't eat it all. He said maybe 3.8. I wouldn't order the French onion soup again. When I asked the bartender why, I was told that they do1 oz. pours, which the manager said was done to achieve the flavor profile they are looking for. I didn't realize people are clamoring for watered down overpriced drinks these days. I'm not stupid and I have worked in high end food and beverage establishments for the past 30 years. Big Whiskey's is the kind of place that makes you wonder why you ever drink anywhere else. First off, the bartenders are genuinely friendly--not the fake "I have to be nice for tips" friendly, but the "welcome to Branson, what are we celebrating?" kind. They actually know their whiskey, too, which is dangerous in the best possible way. The whiskey selection is outstanding. If you can't find something you like here, the problem might be you. Bourbon, rye, scotch--this place respects brown liquor the way it deserves to be respected. The food is surprisingly great, which is always a pleasant twist when you walk into a whiskey bar. You come for the drinks and end up staying for the meal... and then another drink... and then maybe dessert because why not? The customers are just as friendly as the staff, which somehow feels very on-brand for Branson. People actually talk to each other here. It's like a bar and a community center, but with better cocktails. And the location is perfect--right in the middle of Branson, which is already one of the most unexpectedly fantastic places around. We started with the buffalo chicken wontons. They were nicely spiced, but there was no chicken. It just tasted like cream cheese and buffalo sauce. Then we had the bbq burger with the loaded potato salad. It was like the burger was pre-cooked and reheated in the microwave. Potato salad was good. We also had the veggie wrap. It was like they took raw vegetables and just put them on the flour tortilla and griddled the outside. There was no salt or pepper on the vegetables. They were pretty flavorless. When they were cooked their moisture caused the tortillas to be a little soggy. If there was a cream cheese it must have been diluted from the vegetables moisture because it was nowhere to be found or tasted. We finished with the brownie. It was more like a cake. On that was already baked. It wasn't even warm. It tasted like a Betty Crocker cake mix. Nothing special. Staff was friendly enough, would not go back. read more

I visited Big Whiskey with a large party in thr evening after attending a long day of Softball Nationals. The restaurant is in a central location that has many other cool places close by as being part of the landing. After arriving, most of our party was sat in a back room with a few tables. We were originally told that they were going to add at least one more table to our party, but that was not the case after we arrived. After asking about the additional table, the waitress advised that there were no extra tables available, and that they would not be bringing in any extra seating. So we did not seat with our original party. The waitress told us that we could sit on a set of booths that were available. So myself, wife, and two friends sat on additional booths outside of the room. For our party, we were only given one waitress. We had roughly 30 people, which is a lot for just one person. Nonetheless, due this, our drinks took a long time and so did our food. Not an issue with the waitress herself and who did a great job with what she had. However, whoever made the decision not to give the waitress extra assistance was rather ignorant. For what we had there, the drinks were great. The food was okay, not exceptionally better than any other restaurant I have been to. For the price, I don't know that I would really go back. I think you pay more for the location than anything. My kids had the Mac and Cheese really didn't think too much of it. For a first time experience, I don't think they were ready to accommodate such a large party. read more

I've visited this location before, and loved the food, not so much this time around! Our waitress was kind, but service was a bit slow, and my fries weren't hot once they finally made it out. If I visit again, I will stick with a regular American burger instead of trying something premium (Honey Stung burger). The burger I ordered lacked flavor and was a bit overpriced for the actual product. My Mom ordered a salad, she enjoyed the chicken and fruit, but the lettuce was clearly old and wilted. Dinner with my bride of thirty-one years, prior to seeing Queen Esther this evening. She ordered a chicken queso wrap with the fixins. I ordered the chicken bacon quesadilla. We were seated promptly and Emmaline brought out our drinks, coffee (fresh brewed) for me and a cucumber something for her. It's quiet for a bar but we're here a dinner time. Not bright, not dark and dimly lite either. There are televisions for sports loons but no Chive TV for us dweebs. The food arrived hot and plentiful, we enjoyed the flavors but the salsa isn't Texas, more like NooYawqCity. My wife's drink was tasty but wimpy, and full of ice... Stopped in after a day at SDC. There was 9 of us so there was a large variety of items ordered. I got the Philly Cheesesteak and it was average. The meat was dry but lucky for us they give you au jus sauce and that helped. The bread was soft and there was plenty of pepper jack cheese. Fries were typical and not hot. My son got a burger and in typical Big Whiskey fashion it was a frozen dry burger that had been thrown on a grill and not seasoned at all. My wife got the Buffalo Ranch Chicken sandwich and she said it was flavored well and was hot. She said it was slightly dry but overall really good. Her fries were cold as well. The group also got the chicken ranch alfredo which was ok. Alfredo sauce was creamy but the noodles were overcooked and the chicken was dry. Rolled into Branson, Missouri today from Las Vegas. Found Big Whiskey's and decide to try. I ordered the 12 piece Award Winning Wings and they did not disappoint. Probably the best wings I've ever tried. A ton of chicken on the bone and the flavor was excellent I sat at the bar and the service was great and my wings arrived less than 10 min from ordering... super fast. Inside the restaurant was awesome. Great sports bar with a lot of TV's and friendly people. I would come back here and order the same thing... HIGHLY RECOMMEND. As one who has never given a rating of 1 to a restaurant, for Big Whiskey's in Branson, I think a 1 was too high. They'd have to improve to be just horrible. The wait was long - projected at 45 minutes but really an hour. When we got in, the put seven of us at a table for six, with one sitting in the aisle, blocking wait staff and other customers. It took forever to get drinks, then longer to get an order in, and still longer for the food to come. It was an hour from when we got in the door till we got our food. So, two hours to service... It wasn't worth the wait. The server was stretched, and therefore inattentive. The food wasn't great -- but sure was pricey. The atmosphere was nothing special. None of the seven of us will be back to Big Whiskey's -- any of their locations. If you're smart, you'll stay away too. read more

Went here after a show in Branson and disappointed to find out that they only serve appetizers after a certain time. We went with the loaded fries and Thai chili wings. Both were prepared from frozen and exactly what you'd expect of a chain restaurant (not sure if they are chain but that was the quality). Our server was very helpful at the beginning but a table came in towards the middle of our time there and it was difficult to get his attention after that. We ditched the upscale steakhouse for a more casual dinner option and I could not be more satisfied. Marcus is an outstanding server, very attentive and knowledgeable. We had a snafu with our meal and Marcus and the manager, forgot her name, made things right and assured we were satisfied. We visit Branson often and will be back. So on Aug 26 me and some friends went to your restaurant on the landing. I asked if it was super busy but the waiter said no an average night. The service was not the best. We ordered beer that seemed like it took forever to come out and when it got to the table it was warm. My girlfriend ordered the bourbon salmon and it was still served raw which was very disappointing and it took almost an hour to get a new one. My buddies drink was watered down hardly taste any alcohol and his steak he ordered medium and it came out well well done. Couldn't hardly get anyone's attention so he could send it back. It seemed like there were only two servers I mean I even saw our waiter taking food to another section. Over all the amount I payed was very disappointing for the food and the service. read more

Manager could help bartender with more server help. The food was mediocre. An improvement to the menu text would be to identify that the side salad comes with bacon. I asked for light glaze on my salmon and was accommodated. It was good but not fantastic. Pork chops were well cooked but just average. Loaded potatoes had unmelted cheese under the bacon which was not crispy. Easy fixes. Broccoli and rice were okay. Not remarkable. Could be improved with a little pizzazz. Big Whiskey's seemed to be the life of the neighborhood. They are one of the only places that stays open later in the evening so there is usually a decent crowd there. After a long day of hiking and resting i was in need of a hot meal and a good drink so we headed on over. The menu is pretty standard american food and there's something for just about everyone. I had my eyes on the pretzels with beer cheese and also decided on the Chicken Ranch Alfredo. During my visit to Branson, i really had trouble finding decent food. The places i was dining at were just not giving what they should have gave. Big Whiskey's was unfortuntely not any different. The beer cheese was close to rock solid. It solidified within minutes of being at the table. The pasta arrived looking like the cheese was already curdling. I made the best of what i could and took the rest to go since my stomach was so empty. The server was kind and attentive, i had no issues with the service at all. The margarita i ordered was also very tasty and i enjoyed that. The atmosphere is also fine and the restaurant is very spacious. I dont doubt this restaurant has good food but on my particular visit the food was not satisfying for me. read more

Pretty hoppin place. In the center of it all at the Branson Landing. We ran into it while going to the Irish Pub across the street. We saw they had a happy hour and decided to go pay them a visit. To our misfortune, we went in a Saturday and, of course, no happy hour. We sat at the bar and looked over the menu. The bartender was friendly enough but I didn't feel her overly joyed. Just a vibe. Poor her was working the day after Christmas so I understood. They have 4 flights available. I took the flight around the world. Pretty distinct flavors from Kentucky Bourbon to Jameson. I enjoyed it but our visit was cut short because we had to go pick up the kids at the amusement park. Will visit again next time. read more

I read service was slow prior but gave grace as I don't know what she was doing prior or if anyone told her someone got seated at her table. But the whole night she only came to our table to take our order, give us our food (which took awhile also) and checked on us once. Food was over priced for quality. It was good. Not great. Burger was overcooked. Husband sent it back and the second burger was just as dry and overcooked. He ate that one because he didn't want to wait for a third. So we ended up here twice. Both of servers were great! Jasmine I believe and I am not sure of the guy we had the second night but he was very polite and a pleasure. Tall young man. I ordered on of the rum buckets a d honestly was disappointed in the lack of rum. I then decided to get an old fashion and it was okay but throwing in a huge square junk of ice left me with very little drink. The glass wasn't even half full. Next night the drinks were much better. Food was decent. Just typical bar food. First night I had loaded fries and hubby the nachos. Second night we both got burgers. The serving of fries was sad but they were very good. Hubby's burger was cooked too long and was almost burnt. Mine was missing one of the sauces but still tasty. Probably won't be our first pick to come back but you never know.
