Every time I drive by this place it's packed. I finally know why! My friend had a party and rented a pool table. The pool hall is very clean and lots of tables!!! The drink menu was way bigger than I expected!!! They had some cool mixed drinks, not many IPAs though. I only had chicken tenders but they were decent! It's your classic bar and pool hall located in the heart of the Ballpark neighborhood. But surprisingly they have a pretty nice menu for being a bar. Since it is a bar no children are allowed in which is a plus for some folks. We were greeted promptly and were able to place our drink and food orders right away. I had the Italian Grilled Cheese with pepperoni and salami and a side of marinara for dipping. There's a side of fries too. The sandwich was tasty and flavorful but the fries were just basic and nothing too exciting. Paired with a stein of Evolution Amber Ale it was the perfect lunch. So the bar was cool. Enjoyed the vibe. We went after the Bees game and it was pretty busy. Parking lot but could not find any ADA parking. Ended up. parking on the street. Then we discovered they only have high top tables. As a disabled person using a wheelchair, this was a disappointment. To the staff, they honestly tried to find a solution so kudos to them but to the owner you should have at least one low top table. Ordered Jameson and was given a different whiskey. I asked if I was given the right drink. I was told yes but then the server came back and said that I was right and was given the wrong liquor. I appreciate her making it right. Busy holiday weekend! 1 bartender and 1 bar back. Bartender was helping her friends first before other patrons. WOW!! HORRIBLE service at the bar. No service on the patio after being told we need to use our waitress. ONE waitress for the indoor poker crowd and the outdoor patio. Still waiting for a waitress and to order food after 20-30 min. The male behind the bar was absolutely condescending, telling me to order through the waitress They aren't the only watering hole open. Never again! I'm a Midwest transplant that was in search of a place that gave me the same vibe as my former watering hole. I think I found it at Big Willie's. The service is great and the bartenders are quick to tell you the specials so you get a there deal. The drinks are cheap too. I haven't had the food yet, but from what I've seen, it looks good. They have pool that seems busy with games constantly going. It looks like anyone from a novice to a pool shark could join in. The bar top is long and I've never had an issue finding a spot. It's a nice bar; clean, the music isn't too loud, and it has an environment that made me feel immediately comfortable. The service was friendly and very quick, and the prices were decent. My only complaint involves the chips and salsa I ordered. The salsa was so mild as to taste like ketchup, and chips were stale. The staff are nice enough and pretty friendly, the prices are right with a 11% double IPA at $6 and very nice diamond pool tables at $1 a game, and there is plenty of room between tables with good music playing so the ambiance is just fine. I didn't try the food but it looked ok. The beer selection was good enough for me and I'm kind of a snob. Cues were some of the best I have seen for a pool hall anywhere and tables play very true with good cloth.. I wanted to come back the next day but had to fly out. If I come back to SLC, I will come here for sure and, the best part is that I won't have to bring my cue with me! read more

Went to get a drink on a Tuesday night with Family handed them my REAL ID that is out of state granted not expired either and they turned it away because they're scanner said improbable ID, the girl looked at it under the light it looked fine but since they're scanner said no I was denied. I could be an ass and show up with my passport just to show them but decided to leave. I am disappointed as I have a real ID I think they need to invest in a better scanning system, girl looked years younger than me never got a manager but I think I'll show up and prove to them that they need to invest in a better scanning system because they definitely got scammed by whoever. read more

It wasn't that busy and we waited forever for our food then they brought us the wrong order. Seriously if this was a car accident, it would be totaled with multiple fatalities. It was nice to pull up to an almost empty lot and easily park up. As I walk in, the hostess isn't at the podium so I proceeded to walk into the pool hall. Then some lady speed walks by asking for I.D. So I had to walk back to the entrance. Smh. Anyhow, the hall is huge with a lot of pool tables and seating surrounding the room. We paid $10 for the pool table all night which was super cheap! There are lots of flat screens, a restroom and an outdoor smoking area nearby too. Same lady/hostess also happens to be our waitress. Unfortunately, I didn't get her name. She was dismissive and didn't even know what the bar had in stock. Turns out she was clocking out and immediately asks for everyone's ATM cards to open a tab to transfer to the pm shift. It all worked out because our pm waiter, or whatever, Willie took over and he was 100x better. He was attentive and prompt in refilling our drinks. Willie was also able to keep all five open tabs separate with correct orders. The food and drinks are decently priced for a popular sports bar. A Corona costs $4.50. I ordered a combo platter which was reallllyyyy good. I liked almost everything except the fried mashed potato balls; it's a texture thing for me. My favorite item was the bacon wrapped sweet potato. The bacon provides a crispy outer layer with a cooked to perfection inside.... mmmm, MOUTHWATERING! Despite rumors of some lawsuit and being an Out-of-Towner Tongan, I had unknowingly ended up at Big Willies to reunite with family.
