Big's Meats and More really came through for us on short notice today! We needed to feed 20 hard-working plant personnel, and they absolutely nailed it. The ribeyes were cooked and seasoned perfectly, the loaded baked potato casserole was amazing, the salad was fresh and crisp, and the buttermilk pie for dessert was a perfect way to wrap it all up. Sarah took our order and made sure every detail was handled -- she went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. It's not easy to pull off a meal that good for a group that size, especially last-minute, but Big's made it look effortless. read more

Came today with my friend after a recommendation from her son. When we arrived we inadvertently went into the main shop thinking it was the restaurant. The fresh bakery smell that hits you when you walk in the door is amazing. We decided we would need to eat first so we didn't go home broke. The restaurant and meat counter are in a separate building in the back. When you walk into the restaurant/meat shop to eat, you place your order at the counter. Being from Florida, I wanted a BBQ sandwich, however also wanted a cheeseburger; my friend was ordering the club sandwich...I had a tough decision to make. Karen, the lovely lady working the counter told me I could order the BBQ and coleslaw to take home in a container which she would prepare while we were eating our meal...dilemma solved so the cheeseburger it was. There is a lovely indoor seating area which is similar to the inside of a barn, appropriate for a farm shop, which is air conditioned or you can sit outside in the fresh air. We opted for A/C. Fast forward to the food...OMG is all I can say. My friend and I cut our food choices in half so we could taste both items. The cheeseburger is so thick, tasty and moist. The club sandwich was absolutely amazing as well with the best slightly Smokey bacon on it. Best club sandwich I've ever had. We ordered a large fries to share which were absolutely amazing but far to much for two people. Karen even came to check on us and make sure we had everything we needed and provided us a to go box. We did buy steaks, pork chops, fruit, peaches and bread to bring home. There is a freezer section with their homemade, prepackaged meals frozen ready to take home, including fresh pies ready to bake. If your passing you definitely need to stop in. Karen will make sure you get everything you need and enjoy your visit. Will definitely be back when I'm back in SC. read more

Burgers are fresh and real good. Fries are excellent. Their meat market looked real enticing but we were traveling and didn't have room.

Just discovered this place the other day. Sad I didn't know about it before. I have been to the store many times but being from McBee but not living anywhere close makes me sad. We had dinner, I had the pulled pork sandwich with slaw. It was piled high. Best thing ever. I picked up hoop cheese and county ham, where I live they have no idea what I talking about when i ask for hoop cheese. Do yourself a favor and walk behind the farm store to the meat market. The meat case has some of the prettiest meat I have ever seen, then grab lunch and you can even grab a freezer meal to go. read more

Bigs is a good place in the McBee area to have a good lunch. It's located in the McCloud Farms complex in a separate building around back. It's nothing fancy but there are tables for groups or just a couple. You order and pay at the cash register but they bring your meal to your table. They offer a wide variety of hot and cold sandwiches and usually have a lunch special everyday. There is also some nice cuts of various meats available to take home and while they look great, I can't comment on the quality because I've never purchased any of them. While visiting McLeods Market, my husband and I discovered 2 huge treats in the parking lot, Bigs Meats and More and the Antique auto Museum. We both went into Bigs and the clerks were very friendly and knowledgeable about the meats and gave us a suggestion how to cook some. My husband is not into meat shopping, so he went to the Antiques Museum while I shopped. They actually rotisserie meats upon pre-scheduled appointment. My husband had chosen some sausage before we left, while I had chosen some select cuts. I had expected the clerk to place my meats on the counter so I could pay, but there was no need, he brought it to the cashier, so I can browse their market for seasonings, barbecue sauces and other select items. I found it unusual that I actually enjoyed shopping at this market as if it were a recreational visit. My husband returned and said "let's have a late lunch here", so we did. There are several rooms where you can sit down and enjoy your lunch in a real southern country atmosphere. I can tell you that there wasn't a drop of food left on our plates, although I cannot remember what we had eaten, but it was delicious. It's about a 4-5 hour drive from our home, so I cannot say we are regulars, but what I can say is that when we are in the area, this is a "must go" stop. We totally found this gem by accident but this is one thing we love to do. read more

Ahhhh, now that was a ***damn good burger***. Although I can't look around today, there's a lot to see and look at here including a farm. This is a restaurant/farm/meat market with a real family feel to it. I got the bacon cheeseburger and fries along with a slice of delicious buttermilk pie! The burger and fries were fresh and in point. As for the buttermilk pie..... also delicious. The workers come around every few minutes to refill tea, sweet tea, peach tea, and water. Like clockwork. We seek quality wherever we travel. We stopped in for a burger with pimento cheese and fries. Good taste - quality meat - nice house made pimento and fries. We decided to grab a couple of filets. These were at least 4" high, beautiful color, and ran around $50 bucks for the two. We fired up the grill, added just a bit of salt, pepper, and garlic. Medium rare and ready in no time. The first slice my hubby and I just looked at each other in awe. I said "did your steak just cut like butter" and he said yes it did. The first bite was even more amazing. I have never eaten a steak that melted in my mouth like these did. Phenomenal is the word that comes to mind. We are in complete silence as we savored every bite. We went back by to purchase a few more for the freezer but they were on vacation. Next time we come through the area my freezer will be ready. The missing star is their hours, which are terribly limiting, even on the weekends. read more

Beware! The food was decent but the employees are being very careless about COVID. We ate there yesterday and most employees preparing food and serving food were NOT wearing masks. They're leaning over the food as they prepare it, breathing on it, and no masks! We saw an old couple there, wearing their masks and the lady was breathing oxygen - I felt bad for them that this business seemed to show no regard for their health or safety. This is completely irresponsible behavior and unnecessarily endangers their patrons. It's decent food but it's not worth losing your health or your life. We won't be returning... not until after this pandemic anyway. read more

I had to go to the doctor one Tuesday afternoon in Hartsville, and I had a high school baseball game there later, and I had a couple of hours on my hand between the doctor and when I needed to be at the field. I was very hungry. I thought of Big's meat and more in McBee because I had heard it was good but had never been there. I went at about 2 in the afternoon, so I was their only customer at the time, and they took terrific care of me! Their burger was obviously fresh meat, which is not something you get most places, and their tea was well brewed. I had a waitress check in on me at least every 5 minutes, which I found nice. They were all so sweet and called me 'honey' and names like that, which of course earns them extra points. Great place, the only problem I have with it is it might not be the cheapest burger joint, but it is worth the price! I'd give it a solid 9/10! read more

Always a highlight of our trip to the beach just to stop at McLeod farm and get produce. And it Bigs meat To eat the best food ever. We always buy meat to eat on the beach on the way down and buy meat and casseroles to eat when we get home. We love Beth and Sarah and it's always a blessing to see the both of them when we're there. When I asked where I want to eat lunch on our 45th wedding anniversary this is where I picked. It doesn't get any better family business hard-working family and the best people I know. read more

Don't miss this place... We love it! It's a bit of a drive for us so we try to plan it, for when we are driving by on our way to Charlotte. Located sorta in the middle of no where and right in the middle of a big peach tree farm. Check their schedule... They are only open certain days and times for lunch and dinner but have great steaks, burgers, desserts and different specials each day. It's also a butcher shop with an awesome selection. The owner has an unbelievable collection of old tractors and buggies just sitting out for everyone to enjoy. And last but not least, it's located right behind McLeod's Peach Stand/Store... Big's is located behind McLeod Farms on Highway 151. I've been eating here since moving to the area five years ago, and never have had a bad meal or experience here. Family owned and run, Big's offers burgers, steaks (on Wednesdays and Thursday evenings), chicken, sandwiches, and daily specials. Very kid friendly as well. read more

Kind of out of the way, but worth the drive. The broccoli salad isn't what I'm use to. Lots of stems. The grape salad is ok. Sweet potatoe comes lightly covered in cinammon sugar. Not organized, terrible seating, terrible service, adequate food. We divided into 2 tables in 2 rooms because we had 9 people. Waitress came to the table I was at to get our order, came back missing a steak that we ordered and didn't come back to check again until we refused to pay for the steak we never received ... Cashier argued that we didn't order the steak until 30 min after the first order and didn't get that the waitress screwed up until it was spelled out to her that we all ordered at the same time. We were leaving and didn't want the steak we ordered an hour before but she kept insisting it was almost done and we needed to pay for it. We ended up leaving with a steak nobody wanted because he had filled up on his salad and potato, and the only comp was that we didn't pay for the steak, we did pay for the salad and potato.
