I had the fish of the day and it happened to be a tile fish. It was delicious however, the shrimp that was a part of the dish was obviously frozen or at least the preservative wasn't washed from the shrimp before cooking. Now, I hate to say that but it is what it is. Honestly, the dish doesn't require the shrimp. The tile fish was so very scrumptious. Spices were on point. read more

A little off the path. Open on weekends. I ate at the bar and had a filet and Korean wings. Wings were sweet with some tang. Filet was a great cut of meat but could use more salt. The wine by the bottle selection and prices were amazing.. wish I had a date to partake read more

I don't usually review places online, but here goes nothing: This place is nice looking, but WAY TOO EXPENSIVE for the quality and portion sizes you get. Wife and I got the goat cheese fritters appetizer, which came with four tiny little toast pieces, two were wet. We also had two glasses of Reisling that were reasonably priced, but small glasses. The main's sides, mashed potatoes were obviously instant/boxed, which is just egregious for a place that claims to be gourmet. My wife's plate and mine each got THREE stringy little asparagus pieces, which I almost complained about. The ribeye was good and well prepared, but in no way worth $35 for a gristly ribeye (12oz, only 6oz was edible). Just way overpriced, especially with the sides it comes with. Been here before several months ago and the menu is just the same thing over and over and over again. Never changes, except for maybe getting more expensive. This place is only open three days a week, and those are weekdays. So I guess that's why they charge double for food, to keep the business afloat. We went on a Wednesday at 6:30, and the entire place was completely EMPTY...and remained empty for the hour and a half that we ate there. The wait staff was very friendly and helpful, but I would expect no less when we were the ONLY table in the entire joint being served. I don't know how much longer this place will be around. It looks like it's struggling for customers, and honestly it's not hard to see why. Whatever the case may be, we will not be returning. You can get a meal that's just as good, if not better at Applebees or elsewhere for HALF THE PRICE. Service is good, but like I said it better be when there's only one table dining. Check total was: Ribeye, runny mashed potatoes, three stringy asparagus; Pork chop meal, same sides. Goat cheese fritters. Two small glasses of Riesling = $92.00. Plus tip, that's well over $100. We could've gotten the same thing, better quality at several other locations in town and for WAY less money. read more

Okay so we get to the Bistro and are seated in a big room, no other diners are in the place and while trying to have a quiet dinner when they seat three people right next to us in an otherwise empty room. Of course the three people are from a local company on a business interview type dinner so we are forced to listen to their work banter. Augh! Then the food, my $45 steak is overcooked and full of gristle, thrown on top of some mashed potatoes and a stalk of asparagus all covered with gravy. Asked waitress if the "market price" was adjusted for the overcooked piece of whatever they served me that I couldn't eat! She laughed so I went to the kitchen and found the "chef / manager" to complain. He told me if I didn't like it to "leave, don't pay". No need to tell me twice! We left, at least he comped our meal which we didn't eat anyway! read more

32 dollars for a steak with mashed potatoes and 4 asparagus. Pros: Steak was decent. Atmosphere was nice. Cheesecake was good. Cons: Steak was cooked almost medium and I asked for rare. Mashed potatoes were not creamy and tasted very plain. Only got 4 asparagus. Server forgot our bread and took a long time to run the card. It was not very busy. Steak knives barely cut through the steak. I had to use a chain saw instead which the people around me didn't like. If it was 18 dollars for the meal I would have been fine with everything. But for 32 dollars I'd expect the steak to be cooked correctly and potatoes to be much better. I'd suggest getting better knives; ones that can be sharpened. I will not be revisiting. read more

Spent an hour and a half waiting on food only for the server to come by and state that they ran out of shrimp for our table's entrees because they used it for appetizers for another part who arrived after we ordered. Then waited another 45 minutes for the replacement entrees from a server with no regard to anyone's time. At no point did a manager come to apologize or rectify the situation. DO NOT RECOMMEND!!! read more

Service could be better. It started out well when we were the only table. Once 3 more tables we're occupied a few minutes later, it took a long time to get the drinks we ordered. Food was great when it arrived. The cheesecake for dessert wasn't the greatest. It seemed warm so it was very soft. I'd go back, but they could improve service some. read more

I ate here last week. The service was exceptional and the food was delicious. I had the blackened chicken penne and my mom had the scallops special. Both were exceptional. I tried to order the goat cheese appetizer, but they had run out for the evening. The only downfalls were that they had run out of a few of their entrees and appetizers and I really wish they'd served my wine at cellar temperature (the red wine was a little warm for my taste). However, the selection of wine was quite good for a small restaurant. read more

As soon as you walk in, there is a weird smell to the restaurant and half the bulbs on the light up tree were out. If a restaurant can't take the time to care for a simple bulb change, how can they be expected to put care into the rest of the dining experience? There is no kid's menus. We don't need "kid" food, but a small child should have options that are proportional to their size. We had to pay for an adult size meal of which less than half was consumed. Bread served was grocery store bread. Even the child commented that the butter had no flavor. Ceasar salad was not tossed with dressing. Pork chop was so tough that a steak knife could barely cut it. We requested it medium. Fried green tomatoes are drenched in the sauce which is overwhelmingly sweet. So $85 later we are hitting up the local Chinese restaurant for something edible. read more

If you're in the mood for a good date night, a client/business dinner, or anything in between, BCB is your go-to place in Hartsville, hands down. They are definitely the most expensive restaurant in Hartsville, but likely also the best food. Expect ~$40-$60pp if you have a drink, apps, and main. That said, the quality is good and they have a solid bar with a surprisingly diverse beer selection (as well as wine & a full bar) We've tried just about everything on the menu at this point, and haven't had any major complaints. They've recently started churning out new specials weekly, which keeps it interesting...the menu was getting pretty stale week after week. They also have the ability to put together vegetarian dishes if that's your thing. The desert list here is pretty fantastic as well. Downside, it's pretty slow...but I blame that mostly on the South. Hard to get in and out of here in under 2 hours. But if you're looking for a classy meal, BCB's your place to go. read more

I was in town last week for one night and we happened to stumble upon this jewel. Porter was our server and did a wonderful job. Even more impressive was the menu selection, presentation and taste!! "From farm to Table" is their motto and I would strongly recommend the Sheep head, She Bass Soup, Fried Grn Tomatoes and my personal favorite....the Lobster Cobbler. Next time I am passing through Hartsville, we will definitely be stopping in here for dinner! Didn't think this place was as good as the reviews. There's a quaintness to it but was not that impressed with the food. Had the pork chop, other guy had the ribeye, which he said was pretty good. Waitress was very cute & suggested the peach cheesecake, but not much of a peach taste. I guess for Hartsville this place is good, but not sure I'll be back. read more

I ate here based on the reviews and I must say I was not disappointed. The She Crab soup is amazing! I also ordered the blackened penne pasta. It was flavorful and enough for two meals. Yes! I visited the bar. Nice selection. I doubt I'll ever come back to this town but, I'll suggest it to others. read more

Went for Valentines Day special last night. Terrible, slow service. Had to ask for bread. Didn't get refills unless asked. Took over 2 hours to get food. Drinks watered down. NY strip tough, no flavor. Hardly any veg on plate with filet...filet tiny (3-4 oz). Over $350 for 4 people, never got promised champagne with special. Dessert was store bought. Had to leave hungry! Very disappointed! Will never go back! read more

We love BCB! Their salads are amazing! I'm partial to their Blackened Penne Pasta dish. It's awesome. We go to BCB almost every other week. We had a fried mozzarella special once that was great. Their steaks are wonderful and the corn/crab topping is delicious. We really like their creme brûlée too! The service is wonderful. I would definitely recommend BCB! read more

If I could give this place more stars, I would! We found them on Yelp as we were traveling to the beach, and decided to give it a try. Now we are thinking of planning a trip back through just to eat there again! The Shrimp and Grits is the best I've ever had (we all tried everyone else's food--so I can honestly say I tried 5 dishes) and I've had a lot of Shrimp and Grits! The blackened chicken pasta was amazing, and the seafood spaghetti was to die for. The Cuban sandwich was almost as good as the ones I had in Miami, and my picky son had a sweet and sour chicken sandwich that was delicious and original! We also had the Goat Cheese Fritter appetizer and even my teenager loved it. Nicest staff in the world, and I would recommend this place to anyone looking for something wonderful and different in a world of "chain restaurants"!! read more

Stopped here during race weekend. Wasn't expecting white linen tablecloths but they didn't seem to mind my T-shirt (others were wearing khakis). The food was fantastic and the service very friendly. You gotta get the calamari. The best I've ever had! A had the fish de-jour (grilled over risotto with mushrooms and asparagus). It was very good. I highly recommend BCB. read more

Best meal in Hartsville!!!! What a fantastic surprise when we walked in, coming in from Atlanta to visit family. The food was as good as we have had anywhere in the world, seriously! And the service was perfect. Fabulous "southern", fresh, farm to table options that are both healthy and delicious. The deserts are made by the owner. Try the cheesecake! Recommended by our hotel (the Mantissa) we loved the vibe. We sat at the bar and the bartender was instantly inviting to speak with and a lot of fun. This is the best restaurant in Hartsville, probably the best in Florence or Darlington counties. I went with 2 friends and had a fabulous meal of fish with mushroom risotto. They have a great selection of wines. The creme brulee was sublime. I will return there. read more
