As far as buffets go, especially in Bay Area where there are such a wide variety of Indian buffets, this is pretty subpar. The number of food items is very few and the taste and quality leaves much to be desired. The experience is pretty disappointing especially in the highly competitive and prime Sunnyvale location. read more

I had bookmarked bikaner sweets/jalebi street since a long time but never got a chance to go. This last week the cravings jalebi hit hard and we decided to go to bikaner sweets. This is a small sweets place with a couple of tables but it was very chilly in there. We found that there is a connected restaurant with Bikanos which is new place and not yet fully functional but they had tables and chairs and it was warm. We were given the menu for Bikaner sweets along with some more entrees they are introducing in the restaurant. We ordered the chhole bhatura, paneer pasanda, raj kachori and jalebi with rabri. Chhole bhatura: this was seriously yummy chhole. Super flavorful. Bhatura was a bit crunchy and not as soft but i will let it go. 5 stars. Paneer pasanda: gravy was very flavorful. Paneer was in form of deep fried paneer like paneer pakoda. Innovative but difficult to cut through or eat with naan. 4 stars Onion kulcha: was great. 4 stars Raj kachori: good balance of sauces and yogurt on the kachori. 4 stars Jalebi with rabri: piping hot Jalebi with cold rabri. Heaven!! The jalebi syrup was tad too sweet so after a few bites i was done. Mango lassi: special mention here as it was very yummy with cardamom flavor. Service was good. Only 1 person was serving but he was very gracious and helpful. He got us onions and green chilly and made sure we had everything. There were some hiccups here and there but that's because the restaurant is not yet ready. Their new menu should be available in couple of weeks and we can't wait to try more items here. read more

Such an amazing and wholesome experience. Being a North Indian , I always enjoy some good Rajasthani meal. We went here last night, Bikanos and Bikaner Sweet is owned by same person but their menu and kitchen is different as Bikaner sweets is vegetarian only and Bikanos is not. But you can order from Bikaner sweets and sit at Bikanos to enjoy your meal. Coming to the food part, we had Pani puri (9/10) , Raj Kachori (8/10), Onion Kachori (10/10) , Chole bhature (8/10) , Malai Kofta (10/10), Kulcha (2/10) very hard , Garlic Naan (6/10) , Aloo Bedmi (7/10), Gatte ki sabji (1/10) not good at all! , Jalebi (1000/10) soo fresh and crispy!!! This is an interesting place but since I'm no expert in Indian food, take my writing as a grain of salt. This Indian restaurant is very simple in interior decorations (barely a few tables, no pictures on walls, limited lighting options), but it has a bar. Not a lot of people eating inside when we came visit on Saturday 7pm. The menu consists mostly common Indian dishes such as biryani, tikka, butter chicken and a few varieties of naan bread. It's just quiet and not busy at all. Only one man was manning the area, at times the restaurant would be empty with nobody there as the waiter went inside to carry out take out, makes me wonder what happens if a robbery happens right then..... Onto the food. Ordered lamb chop and chicken biryani. I mostly got attracted to Indian food because of the long grain rice but the spiciness got me every single time! Really miss the Indian buffet I tried somewhere that had non spicy Indian dishes and they were so tasty and different, yet they seem to be unavailable in most Indian a la carte menu. So the spiciness here got me again. The lamb chop was spicy, so is the chicken biryani. The spiciness grows on you, first bite is a little bit spicy, bearable; second bite, ok, it's there; by the third bite, how does it get so spicy?! It seems the hotness builds up in time and even dipping them in yogurt doesn't help. The same goes for the biryani! Also one thing to note on the chicken biryani. The picture on the menu shows a big size chicken drum stick sticking out from a bowl of rice. In reality, the chicken with bones were chopped and buried inside the rice. So the picture was a bit misleading.... The restaurant is not big, but there's a short walk that connects it to an Indian sweet shop at the back and that place seemed to be a lot more popular and authentic. The place looks dingy from the outside, and when you enter, you need to adjust your eye sight a little to get use to the dimness of the place especially when its bright outside. Or, bring your own flashlight. To the right of the entrance, is a row of covered food offerings ready for you to pile up. Then you take your piled plates to the left dining area. Not as spicy as I'd like my Indian food. Also note, the FREE beer isn't All-You-Can-Drink. Service is friendly, efficient and unintrusive. First time here with 5 families of friends. The occasion was a send off for our girls going off to college and the experience is one we are all going to cherish. The ambience is homey and comfy, the food was fresh and well made without the typical all curries one flavor, each dish was made well What was exceptional and made it memorable was the service given by Pradjot( he was charming, genuinely caring, and so tolerant of all our little needs and requests) , he not only made us happy, he went over and beyond hospitality. Lot of convenient parking. Indian grocery next door. Rhythm (or is it Ridam) at the counter is a fun guy, lively and keeps his customers engaged in good natured banter. Bikanos has recently started a buffet and it is definitely a must try. With a limited selection buffet you get super good tasting food at a very reasonable price. The goat meat pieces in the curry were tender, the lamb chops were very flavorful and the dal was smooth that it has to be achieved by slow cooking. Loved the vegetable pakoras. The naan is made fresh to order! The deserts were not too sweet - which is perfect! This buffet came with a soda/drink from a selection of choices! I've eaten here several times and the food is great. Staff are friendly, though important to note you need to order at the register on the sweets side. Entrance is around the side of the building, so don't let that sour your experience. There's a quieter dining room down the hallway where you can eat afterwards. I have no complaints read more

The chicken malai tikka was well seasoned with Indian spices and went well the the accompanying chutney. I was most excited about Laal Maas and it didn't disappoint. It was on the spicier side for Indian curries and that's expected since the gravy is made from crushed chillies. It's hard to find this dish in restaurants and I'm craving to order this again. All the breads were also freshly made and arrived hot. Bonus: This establishment is adjoining a sweet shop so they gave me fresh jalebis with my order, that made my day! read more

Unbelievably good food! The flavors were divine and they do take your instructions to make food spicy or mild depending on your palette. As chutney is something that barely people try outside and even if they do it disappoints to the core but in Bikanos I highly recommend all the three chutneys that they served with complimentary Papad. Overall we had a great experience. Tokri Chaat can be improvised as I think it had too much of bolied potato with no/less spices and it lacked yogurt. It is a new place so I recommend you to be patient with the service but hoping that gets improved soon. We also had Ghevar for dessert which was totally outstanding. I haven't had Ghevar in a long time and it just amazed me. read more

We had dinner here 1 day ago. I like to get an equivalence by ordering Butter Chicken. Bikanos' version is excellent, with slightly less butter, good spice flavor, and generous pieces of chicken. You don't feel you are over-indulging! The garlic nan was loaded with garlic, and the right compliment to the chicken. A mango lassi topped it off. We went to Bikanos a couple of days after it opened for restaurant service. I ordered the Laal Maas and the lacha paratha, and my husband had the Chicken Makhani which I also sampled. The dishes were all excellent. Chicken Makhani very flavorful, as was the Laal Maas. You definitely need to be able to handle spice if you go with the Laal Maas, though it doesn't numb your tastebuds the way some Indian food can! :) The lacha paratha was really good - not dripping in oil as some do. Highly recommended. My husband also ordered the mango lassi. One caution on that - ask them NOT to add rose water if you don't like rose water. i don't, but my husband enjoyed it. Overall, a terrific addition to our neighborhood options. We'll be back. And the line in the evenings for hot-off-the-oil fresh jalebis and street snacks is good to see - feels like home! read more

Decided to try this, the Jelabi's out here are awesome... there is nothing to match the jelabi's here in the bay area. *BUT* the restaurant food, it is terrible! I mean terrible, for the price, you are better off eating at a nice Indian restaurant in Saratoga. Same price but not even 1/2 the taste! Sad I had high hopes for this and decided to try it even though it has just two reviews, but very disappointed. The butter chicken had a huge pieces of chicken in it, which is ok, but it was ok. The Laal Maas was less than mediocre. The biriyani, I have no words for the yellow chicken rice. Sorry the restaurant is a non-starter and dont waste your money here. But once you get good food somewhere else, you must come here for the jelabis! read more

I would give this restaurant 0 stars if I could. Yesterday we wanted to try this place. When I called I was told they did not take phone orders and I should order online. So I did that and the food was going to be ready in 30 mins and I picked curbside pickup. When I got to the restaurant there was lots of parking so I parked right outside and called the number I was given. No one picked up, the second time I called it went to voicemail and said the mailbox was full! The third time some guy picked up and when I said I was here for my online order he sounded puzzled. By the way, there was not a single person in the restaurant so it wasn't that that they were busy. He came into the empty restaurant and talked to a guy who was there talking on his phone. They went to the register where the computer was and pulled out a piece of paper ( my order) I was right outside so I could see all this. At that point I went to the door and they said that they didn't know about the order and could make it now which would take 30 minutes. There was no way I was going to wait so I asked for my money back. Initially he was going to put it back on my credit card but then gave me cash. He tried to shortchange me by giving me less than I had paid!! I am curious to see how long this restaurant lasts given that they have no idea how to do online orders and don't take phone orders and that there was not a single customer there at 8 pm on a Saturday evening! read more
