I've been coming to this place for a little over 2 decades! Up until a few years ago, the place seemed good and the food was good, affordable and it was always divey but at least the cleanliness was maintained! Lately, I've seen that the staff does not even bother to print the receipt - that's a must! The staff uses the tray to shove the garbage into the receptacle and places the tray back on that space over the bin! This is appalling!!!!!! I want to know how many times they rinse the trays end of every business day!!!! I'm probably going to send a notice to food inspectors about cleanliness & hygiene especially after I've seen the trays being used to shove discarded food in the garage! Not once but many times lately ... it's a female staff member from billing! The food has become expensive. The ambiance is basic, practical and nothing fancy! We usually order takeout but there's a little bit of space to sit and eat there too, very limited parking however. This review is only for their sweets. I've come here several times to pick up mithai (Indian sweets), mostly before Diwali and sometimes at other times of the year. On a normal day, getting sweets here is similar to going into a donut shop... looking at the options behind the display case, telling staff which ones you want and they bag or box it up for you. It's a totally different experience when you come here before Diwali. Much more fun than going there on a normal day. They close down their dining room area to transform it into their mithai room. They will rearrange their tables by pushing them all together at the center of the room to create one large table for displaying many trays of their sweets. They have a pile of empty gift boxes in several sizes. Pick up the one you want, put on a glove, and go pick your own sweets to fill you box. The downside is that absolutely nothing is labeled. This restaurant's clientele is primarily Indian people who already know what everything is, so they don't really need the labels. It's much more challenging for someone like myself, who is unfamiliar with all the different types of sweets. But it also means everything is a surprise when we try each one. There were 2 trays with what looked like the same thing, both being round and the same color. When I tried them, I discovered they were both different sweets. And if you look carefully, one had a more smooth texture while the other had a more "grainy" texture. I'm glad I picked up one from each of these 2 trays so I could try both. There was one sweet, the diamond shaped Kaju Katli (I think it is called, not 100% since nothing is labeled), was not included on the large table of sweets in the room. I had to ask for that and the lady went to the back fridge to get these for me. I'm not sure if there may be other sweets, you may want to get, that are not displayed out in the open. It doesn't hurt to ask them. The ladies who work here are nice and try to be helpful, despite the language barrier. We manage. Don't let this be a deterrent for coming here. At the very least, there's always the universal language of gesturing and pointing. There is a small parking lot here, and it has never been full whenever I stop by. read more

I used to eat here every week from 2009-14. Great tasting curries. Fast forward ten years. I left Silicon Valley. I've been gone a long time. I popped in last week on business. Walked into Rajjot after long day. Same great people. Same happy nice sweet lady serving me. Curries tasted great. Roti was a little bigger. The tubs of curry were 30% bigger than the old styrofoam cups they used to use. The price has gone up after a decade but it is still an incredible deal at $12. I don't know where else you can eat for $12 in Sunnyvale. It used to be $6 in 2008. Great flavor. I had the chicken curry, Chana masala and roti. Perfect. I'm back in LA now. Wish I could get some more Rajjot tonight. The atmosphere is spartan. It's third world. Like Mumbai. In the old days it used to attract the H1b guys...when it used to cost $6. Now all kinds of people come in for take away. I'm not there for the atmosphere. I'm there for the food. I'd say one big improvement was removing the lcd screen with all the ads for Indian businesses on it. One of the ads was for Lakshmi's Wellness and it scolded viewers for eating samosas. What a contradiction. Rajjot has the best samosas in Silicon Valley and I looked up while eating them and Dr. Lakshmi is saying you need to exercise one hour after eating a samosa. The old lady and her daughter has so much attitude. They have no manners how to run business. They have such hygiene issues. My little baby asked for butter or ghee. Depaite they have many sweet at stores shesaid we don't have any butter or ghee in store. They don't have basis sense of humanity. Don't expect good hospitality from them. 4 Stars Raj Joth serves some of the best Punjabi food in the South Bay--truly top-notch! Every dish is packed with authentic flavors, making it one of my favorite spots for Punjabi cuisine. It's just creamy saag without any paneer and I don't know what sorcery it is that it tastes so good but my extended family has been coming here for decades now for that saag. The parathas are large, thin, well cooked and perfect to accompany the saag. I've ordered the aloo and gobi parathas to go but they don't taste as good once they get home and get cool. I As many others have said the place looks grimy and the lady behind the counter will never smile at you. So in a way it's like being in a hole in the wall restaurant in India and gives me a sense of nostalgia. I'll just keep coming back for saag pickups. read more

Very authentic hole in the wall Indian cuisine on Wolf road. Be careful right at the intersection or you'll miss this join right next to the person restaurant. The food was inexpensive, ready on time as promised, and super filling. We were able to feed 12 with lots of left overs for less then $10 per person. We ordered samosas, saag paneer, Roti with and without cauliflower, yellow dal, and a Chana masala. All were tasty and SPICY but deliciously so. The food is delicious. It is like eating home cooked food. I love their Parathas, roti, kadhi and Rajma. Their tandoori chicken was also great! Hidden gem of Sunnyvale. My family has been going here for years for the samosa! The are fresh and hot with a great spicy kick. I have enjoyed all the parathas I have tried. My personal favorite is Methi (fenugreek) paratha. They taste like home made and more of authentic punjabi style huge parathas. The price is at the cheaper side. The parathas are value for money. Most of them are 5* taste. Curries are well cooked. Masalas are mixed well and they are at little spicier side. I personally less like the use of red chili. Taste wise its 4*. I enjoy their dry veggies like gobi alu, mix veg. These goes well with plain parathas too. Rajma and Black dal is equally well made. Just little high on oil content and red chilli. If you can take that these taste so much like a well cooked homely meal. I want to try their sarso ka saag with makke (corn) roti. I love how Rajjot hasn't changed in almost 2 decades and it still gives quality, cheap, and authentic Indian food. I have only ever tried Rajjot's parathas and they are SOOO good. The parathas are huge. One paratha is enough for dinner if you are hungry and they have plenty of options for parathas. You can get paneer, methi, aloo, and sweet parathas. The sweet parathas are my favorite because they are so unique and tasty. It is just simple syrup in that soft pillowy paratha and it is simple but really good. For the savory parathas I think you can also ask for some homemade raita( yogurt and cucumbers) which goes so well with the parathas! For some dessert I always end up getting their 4 milk cakes in a nice plastic box and they are so incredibly tasty and rich. After a little bit of time in the microwave they taste SOOO good. Super sweet and lots of ghee(clarified butter). OVERALL for the cheap pricing, great food, and hole in the wall experience I would definitely recommend Rajjot to others, and I know I am coming back soon! read more

You need to place your order at the counter and find a table, the food will be brought out to you. The lady taking our order was in a hurry and barely waited for us to finish placing our order. The food itself was not bad, but nothing special. The parathas and dal makhani were decent, the malai kofta is too sweet and can be skipped. There are a few display cases with some mithai and other sweets - all of them looked a bit old. This place provides Indian food and sweets for to-go or for stay. There are a lot of sweets and curries placed behind the counter and we can choose from that. We bought methi roti, plain roti and malai kofta, for to-go. The rotis are made after we order and hence will have to wait to get it. Curries are taken and packed right in front of us, so if it is only curries that you need, you are ready to go right away. The methi roti was not at all as I expected. Instead of the methi leaves the roti looked yellow in color. It was thick and the taste was ok. The plain roti we ordered came out looking like a plain paratha. It was very thick and even a single piece was large enough and filling for me. Malai kofta curry was a bit bland and both the curry and kofta lacked in flovors. Yes, dirty tables, plastic forks and paper plates, tough parking and the lady who serves the food doesn't like she's cracked a smile in 30 years... but the food is delicious and a rare bargain: price, quantity and quality . Choice of three meat dishes plus rice. With the mountain of perfectly cooked basmati rice. We left with a pound box of assorted candy. Indian sweets are near impossible for me to stop eating! It's always "just one more". The one pound box was $9 and the lady picked "one of almost everything". I also got a cup of mango lassi to take with me. On the way back home, Sofie was quiet for a long time... staring ahead at 280 as we speeded North to Santa Rosa. Wide eyes and that contemplative expression of quite thought that comes over her that makes me wonder what's wrong. Finally she slowly says, "That was the best Indian food I ever ate. Those nice places we go to in Santa Rosa are not near as good." I thought so too, but didn't want to say as much in case she liked the Santa Rosa places so much. My recommendation? Very adamant customer service, and day old stale curries. I got sick with the stale dal makhani curry added to the ongoing pandemic concerns. The lady over the cash counter never even listens the order completely and she rudely hangs up the phone. On top of this she never remembers single order or the customers name who ordered the item . I have to wait again the whole time despite calling a g giving her half hour heads up. Do not encourage such head Strong business owners who only rely on some set of returning customers. New customers find this place filthy, over rated stale tasteless curries and a bad customer service.
