Amazing shop with an awesome owner and crew. Private tour of one of the coolest single tracks on the island. A perfect representation of the MTBing community. Great bikes and great service. Mahalo!

Matt will take care of you and your party. He will fit a proper bike for each of you. He ensured safety for our group. The trail was both fun and challenging for a family. The scenery was to die for.

Very professional service. Will be using them for my 105th ironman in Honu this weekend.

Great bike shop. They have Felt bikes, rent bikes and do excellent repairs. Great place to go for advice on local rides on Hawaii Island

They were able to provide advice on what my options were for getting the bike to Colorado, they were exceptionally helpful throughout the entire experience, and they communicated well the whole time. I had been planning on just paying Hilo Bike Hub to pack up the bike, and then bring the box as sporting goods on our flight. After speaking with Chris, who was very knowledgeable on this topic, we didn't want to take the risk of having it damaged by the airlines and/or TSA if they decided to unpack the bike for inspection. We instead used a bike shipping service, who picked up the bike from Hilo Bike Hub and got it to its destination, all while having it insured appropriately (unlike with the airlines). I just spoke to the bike shop in Colorado that we shipped it to (for reassembly) and they said that the bike was in great shape and that Hilo Bike Hub "packed it phenomenally well". Chris, Alex, and Adam all made this process smooth, pleasant, and worry free for my family during what is a very busy time. The best part is that they were willing to go above and beyond with their service on a transaction that was really quite low in price. It is local shops like this that are such a good representation of the aloha that permeates Hilo, and it should be a reminder to everyone to support your local businesses. When we got to the store the sign said that bikes were being rented for $40 an hour (I had rented 4 bikes for four hours). I realized that I could have cancelled the reservation and rebooked at that moment, but didn't because our girls were anxious to get started to ride. The bikes themselves were great and the owner was nice to work with to help us get the bikes out the door. When we returned I asked the worker (who wasn't the same man that we had rented from) if they would honor the price on the chalk board. He said that he was unable to do that. I wrote to the owner and he said that the pricing is dynamic and that we had the price that we had rented in advance with so no refund or price break for us. I understand that stance, but it feels like a bit of a bummer and not super customer relations, soooooo my recommendation? Maybe rent in advance, but keep an eye out for the price on the day that you go. If the price is lower than you rented at, cancel and rebook on the spot. Let my expensive mistake be a warning for you! The ride from Kona was good but you are on the road with some bigger cars as you leave town, in general it isn't too scary, but you will be sharing the road with some cars (helmets included and some of the bikes that we rented had a nice basket/box in the back to store a towel or backpack).

An electric bicycle is a fabulously fun way to explore Maui, since it provides just the boost needed to get up the hills as if they were much flatter, evens out your speed between uphill and downhill, and raises your average speed, while keeping it comfortably in the fun 'biking' zone, rather than the motor cycle zone. We were using the bike to get up and down the steep (7-12%) grades around where we were staying at 600 ft elevation while keeping it fun. It worked great, even for the less fit. These are bicycles with electric assist hub motors, not scooters. You pedal as much or as little as you like, and use the assist as much or as little as you like. It's a fun way to extend your range, keep the whole group together when they may range in fitness, and 'level out' those hills. I have no affiliation with Maui Electric Bikes, except as a happy customer.
