I loved Amanda's class last week. It felt like she was deeply attuned to her students... like she could sense when the class started prioritizing shapes over breath and gently guide us back. She cued agency, which I really appreciated. It also felt like she picked up on the emotional energy in the room and met the class there, instead of reacting to it. She wove in small moments of education around posture and form, which were really nice reminders. That combination of attunement and strong asana teaching feels really special. I would not and do not expect this every single class... as that's a lot to ask from any human being... but the class she taught last week truly embodied all of this. read more

I'm new to hot yoga, and I was invited to try it by one of the teachers, Karri. The first class was definitely challenging, but it opened my eyes to a totally different kind of workout compared to what I'm used to at regular gyms. I've now been five times, and every class pushes me to work a little harder and get a little more out of it. If you haven't tried hot yoga yet, you owe it to yourself to go at least twice -- that's when you really start to feel the experience. It's been 4 years since I've taken a Bikram yoga class and Marquise's class tonight was exactly what I needed. He tailored his dialogue to the level of the students in the class, and offered verbal adjustments as well as suggestions on what students could do outside of class to improve their postures. If you live in the area, you MUST give this studio and specifically Marquise's class a try. Clean, spacious studio, and ample well lit parking. I bought their 3 week intro package but only ended up going 3 days. Their schedule is limited, they don't provide towels as customary at all other Bikram studios I've practiced in and one of the teachers was walking around the room texting during guided practice which surprisingly really brought morale down since it felt like they weren't really into it. First time today at this studio, but not my first Bikram class; years ago I was very active in my practice (pre-kids!). That pre-kids Me had practiced at various times in about 4 different studios in Northern California. I've decided to come back to strengthen my fitness, and I'm glad I came to BYF (we moved to So Cal 3 years ago). The facility is intimate, beautiful and clean. I appreciated the extra amenities (conditioner, soap, and shampoo in the showers, cotton swabs, blow dryers, etc) and enjoyed the class. I purchased the three week newcomer's package and look forward to further exploring my practice at this location.... Look, a note about carpeting (because I see it mentioned in several reviews): Carpet is mandatory in Bikram classes. There's a point during the end of the standing series where you're standing over the mat with your feet wide for several postures. On a hard floor, (with the sweat everyone's dripping!) that would spell disaster. This isn't a whimful preference or design choice the owner made, it is legit part of the required Bikram criteria. I dont understand one review where the reviewer swears he's taken tons of Bikram classes and then complains about the carpet and recommends going to Purple Yoga down the street---PY isn't Bikram and any actual Bikram classes you take will have carpeting (I am so side-eyeing you reviewer). All Bikram yoga may be hot yoga, but not all hot yoga is Bikram.So there's carpet. Now you know folks and can prepare yourself accordingly. read more

I was super happy when I found this studio 3 years ago. I reunited with another yoga teacher that no longer teaches at Fullerton (sad) but that didn't stop me from coming. Kaiyan and the BYF crew is amazing, friendly, funny, and helpful. In 2017 I was rear ended. I was scared I wouldn't be able to practice Bikram or run again. My chiropractor had told me "not for awhile" I tried get out of yoga. Kaiyan and my other yoga teachers said "No! Continue coming to class. Yoga is healing" So I continued with my practice and chiro sessions. A year later with aches and pains (comes with age) lol! And with a little help with my foam roller and coming to class at least 6 days week. I feel amazing!! Bikram yoga helps me with my running. It teaches me how to breathe while running and especially how to breathe and stay calm when I get muscle spasm during a marathon. Shout out to all my Bikram teachers and fellow yogis!!! Thank you! The owner wrote me an additional email: I would have ignored her, and her rationalizations and then put that place behind me-but she wrote me a personal email as well.. Funny she is a double minority..lololol. Is there a scale, is it a higher scale for darker skin, how about people that grew up in the south.... Back to the point customer service. She was a little angry because I said the tall American was pleasant.... I do not wish to be contacted by email or phone. I don't care if her staff came from the moon or grew out of pods..their rude and disrespectful to different body types. How it got turned around to being about her and her feelings. I'm glad she felt my behavior was pleasant and that I was happy- "I was treating YOU and your STAFF the way I would have liked to be treated." Yes, there were specific incidents with your staff in addition to being rude, making inappropriate comments, to throwing me out of the dressing room while I was getting dressed. What can I say except that this studio is pretty amazing! It's new, has clean bathrooms, and the hot room is large enough to accommodate all the yogi's. ** Most ** of the teachers are nice, genuine and actually practice what they preach ("checking in your ego out the door") ... my 2 favorite teachers (besides Kaiyan! :P) as of now are Julian and Leslie ... you guys rock ... keep up the good job!!! Exploring different yoga classes and it's a decent place as are the instructors, I just want to find one earlier than 8:30.

I came here in a lot of pain from various work accidents (falling 2 stories off a ladder, falling down hills while spraining my ankle, falling through ceilings, etc) and decided to give it a shot because I moved nearby. I had done some yoga in the past, but never stuck with it. Thanks to the excellent instructors here that challenge and encourage me, I finally stuck with it. The best part? I'm in NO pain anymore. First off, Jen is the best teacher I've ever experienced and I've had many. She's helpful and very attentive to the needs of every student. Recently some dinkis named Sara posted a review calling out Jen as a bossy and rude instructor. Sara was apparently on her own schedule and marching to the beat of her own "dum." One of the best elements of the Bikram practice is a "unison uniform" class. It's the most amazing feeling to look in the mirror and see 20 people moving together in unison. It gives you strength and pushes your own limits way past what you ever knew you were capable of. It's why you come back! When teachers allow "newbee free spirits" to do their own thing, it's pisses me off. There's a fine line with allowing new folks to move at their own rate and pushing an entire class. Great teachers will sometimes call out one student for the good of the many. Jen is that teacher. She is lovely, knowledgeable, personable, fun & encouraging. If you found fault in her or the Bikram studio, my immediate thought is this...Louis Armstrong said "there are those who know, there are those who don't know...then there are those who don't know, that they don't know. While I was in Fullerton for the holidays, I bought the intro package at BYF (3 weeks of unlimited yoga for $39), and I am so glad I did! BYF is an amazing studio, and I would definitely be practicing there on the regular if I lived in the area. I attended the full 90 minute bikram classes, and left feeling wonderful! The room is heated for these classes, and unlike a vinyasa style flow practice, bikram focuses on holding postures. Nevertheless, I felt like I got a good workout and felt lengthened and strengthened after class. The teachers are super nice and knowledgeable, and will help you get into postures safely and with good alignment. Make sure you bring a huge water bottle to class, though! You will need it! The studio and locker rooms are also super clean and welcoming. Parking is plentiful, which is a great feature as well! read more

I've never been to this yoga studio, so first-timer here! I convinced my fiance to come with me. It was his first time ever practicing Bikram Yoga. I was pleased to know he enjoyed it. He's been experiencing debilitating shoulder pain and a runny nose, and after class, he said he barely felt any shoulder discomfort during practice and the room cleared his sinuses! Amazing. Anywho, we were compelled to purchase the intro pass after having bought a single class. Our teacher gave us time to think about it and thought, oh, what the hell. Shut up and take my money! I'd love to purchase a membership but I'm a starving artist, but I hear they have 10$ community classes and community days every third Saturdays of each month. Sweet. Better save my lunch money, I guess. Also, I enjoy how involved they are with their students. Our teacher from last night -- I think her name was Laura (Lauren?) -- helped my fiance practice. From sucking in his belly to remembering to breathe to touching his head to his knee to keep going, etc. I understand some people don't like all that touchy-loving feeling and healthy direction and I get it, Californians, but I thought it was very cool and made our money worth it. Better than an injury, I'd say. So far, staff has been great, the premise was well-kept and the experience overall was fair. But yeah...the muggy hot room; the oddly satisfying room odor upon entry; the agonizing pain while in standing head-to-knee; loss of breath; the gains, thereafter; and the pinnacle of euphoria while achieving nirvana -- it's all worth it, man. read more

So I'm new to town and I've been exploring different yoga studios and this was by far the worst one. I got a 3 week pass for 45 bucks and went In For the first time. I believe the teachers name was Jennifer. She embarrassed me. She was very controlling and bossy and made me feel so uncomfortable. She was rude and condescending. I have never been so humiliated. For one she was telling me to not wipe my sweat cuz I won't cool down. I WIPE IT BECAUSE I HAVE A SKIN CONDITION WHERE I CANT LET MY SWEAT SIT ON MY SKIN OR I GET A RASH. So leave me alone! Second I flow intuitively so if I don't want to do your stupid pose I don't have to. She then called me out telling me not to do my poses and to do "bikrams" I'm sorry is this how bikram harassed women back in the day lol I should be able to rest when I want and move intuitively. I have practiced at BYF for almost 4 years One of the best studios I have ever practiced at. Since I travel quite often I have practiced in 7 or 8 states and 2 countries and BYF is by the best one yet. From cleanliness, schedule, fees, showers, and of course the teachers. I came to the studio to take Meggin Thompson's class, and fell completely in love with this studio and each instructor here. I have done Bikram consistently for approximately 7 years; practicing in Seattle, LA, Orange County and Miami. Bikram Yoga Fullerton is my favorite studio so far! Meggin is a beautiful person; and a knowledgeable yoga instructor, with a patient, intuitive understanding of the body and the poses. She took the time to truly understand how I could further improve my practice. She helped me to really delve deeper into some of the advanced postures I am working on. Her love and dedication for the practice is contagious! The classes and all instructors I have met here are simultaneously very disciplined and fun to work with. The studio feels new, is clean, organized, and filled with 100% positive vibes!! The room is ideally heated (class temperature being an important factor)! The community of yoga students here is so respectful towards each other, so committed and so strong in the practice. I feel supported, challenged, and truly able to meditate in every class! I wish I would have known about BYF when I was living close by, but this will be my go to spot when I am in town visiting my family. This facility is a pretty good size, clean, and the the teacher was great. The nice thing about Bikram is that it's the same no matter where you go, but the teacher here was friendly, and kept a good rhythm. If you haven't tried bikram before, definitely read before, but trust me, it's addicting and you'll start to notice a difference physically and spiritually quickly. read more

I've really enjoyed my classes here! Despite the routine sequence, it has remained equally challenging from class to class. Only drawbacks include a lack of a drinking fountain, cleaning spray/wipes for the mat, and the fact that it is a carpeted studio.. I've been practicing Bikram for a little over a year now. Can't even tell you how much I love it! Had no idea how the heat could provide me with so much strength and energy. Getting started can be difficult, especially if you have your reservations about the heat. I did too. It's for sure a mind over matter challenge. Few tips for beginners come with an open mind, your going to do things that are going to feel uncomfortable. With time you will learn to love those things. Bring lots of water, preferably a hydro flask type of bottle that can stay cold. Don't make plans for right after class, give yourself enough time to let it soak in and recover. My favorite thing about Bikram is that it conditions you to handle the harder parts in life. read more

I come to BYF to get the best sweat of my life. This studio keeps their yoga room clean, smelling nice, and really HOT. Carpet in the yoga room is a Bikram thing, and this studio deep cleans it often so there's nothing to worry about. Sure, after a big class there will be drops of sweat on the ground, you might smell sweat in the air, but it's a gym, why would you come expecting anything else? Plus, if the carpets bother you, isn't yoga about learning how not to let minor things bother you?? Nice showers, complimentary towel service, and lockers. Teachers here follow the Bikram script but the more experienced teachers put their own spin on it. They say the same words but for some strange reason, you will always pick up something new, every class. The script, while at first can seem really repetitive, becomes meditative the more that you practice. The teachers say the words so you don't have to think about what to do next, you can just relax and let the words guide you. Each teacher has their own experience with the yoga and that is what they'll teach you in their class. Go to Jesse if you want to get your a** KICKED! Go to Kristen or Anna for a really relaxing class. All of the teachers are huge on getting your alignment in a pose right so that you do more good for your body than harm. Staff here has always been extremely friendly to me. I'm greeted by name when I walk in the door (the owner, Kaiyan, has a freakish ability to remember names), I get offered towels without asking, and always a "have a great class!" I purchased a three week unlimited pass online and did not like it the first time I went. I went again today thinking I will just finish off the pass, but have decided that this place is not for me. A few things that I personally was turned off by (these may not be negative to everyone)- -Carpet in the main studio. I am so uncomfortable stepping out onto the carpet or even laying my arms down on it because I have MRSA and am prone to cysts and infections. This carpet is 100% sweaty from students. -Instructors are nit-picky about things that I personally feel should be left to me and my practice. I am unfamiliar with the strict rules of Bikram, but instructors go above and beyond making posture corrections. It is disruptive if you are not used to that/do not welcome it. -Front desk is left unattended frequently making getting a hold of someone very difficult. -Shower smells of mildew. Yoga studios are all different- some make you feel right at home, others leave you feeling uncomfortable. By no means is Bikram Yoga Fullerton a bad studio, but this is a personal review; I will be taking my butt elsewhere. Best of luck to you all! read more

I learned so much inside today. My instructor says I have potential for this practice. I am grateful to know he sees that in me. I want to understand: I want to attain oneness with everything this lifetime. That is where the real reward is: In undoing what you've done to yourself out of ignorance.
