Wings and cheese bread with Dill dip!
    Brad A.

Not sure how this is a 3 star. To me a solid 5. Fresh pizza, delicious cheese bread with wonderful Dill Dip!!!! Those wings were on point, so very good! My bartender made me a not so good LIT, but quickly made it better with a different drink, she was kind and attentive great service! It's a sports college bar that serves delicious pizza and wings what's not to love! This place was a favorite of my 20 years ago when I was in college and is still tops for me!

The food was super solid. We had a medium pepperoni and bilbos salad. 1 star knocked off as the atmosphere could have been way more lotr-y

Came to bilbo's on a Saturday before a WMU hockey game and it was the perfect place for a pregame dinner. We had 10 in our group and it took us about 10 minutes to get seated. For reference, we arrived at 4pm and the hockey game started at 6. We felt like this was a good amount of time. They seem to be short staffed right now but our server was apologetic about the wait and we felt like she still did great with how many tables she had. They have a couple of in house beers on tap. I got the raspberry wheat ale. I didn't totally love it but it wasn't the worst. We all split 2 family size salads, a large order of cheese sticks, and got about 4 medium sized pan pizzas for the table. Lots of options/toppings and crust types so everything was totally different. The spinach pan pizza with wheat crust was awesome! I would definitely order this again. The cheese bread was also delicious, especially dipped in ranch. The prices all seemed very fair and we had leftovers to take home as well.

Love this place way too much. Lots of LOTR/Hobbit stuff, awesome theme. Tastiest pizza I've had, and I can't recommend the stix enough. If you're breathing the same air as server Justin, consider yourself BLESSED. I love you bilbos!

    Raw pizza dough!

Small wizard pan pizza crust on it was doughy! Brought it to the waitress's attention and she said that is the way it is! Ugh! Most pan pizzas I have ever ordered from other places had cooked dough! Was recommended by our friends and was our first time here. I will let them know how bad it was! Never again! I don't like eating uncooked pizza dough! Looks like many people in the reviews had the same issue! Such a bummer!!

    Fantastic pizza and breadsticks.

I was super pleasantly surprised by this place. We were visiting the Kalamazoo area, and looking for interesting places to eat. As I had a couple of teenage boys with me, I thought the novelty of a hobbit themed restaurant might offer a few laughs. The surprising part was that the pizza is really good. It was just the right amount of greasy without being disgusting. The pizza and salad were both fresh and flavorful, and left nothing to complain about. The service was good. And the LOTR theme was fun. If they ever sell their artwork, I call dibs on the Galadriel painting!

This place is so nostalgic for us! Back in the day we would go to the East Lansing location at Michigan State when it was open. It has now since closed and it has been many, many years since it had been in business over there. We had heard there was a Kalamazoo location and finally had the chance to trek over here for a taste of memories. They had a decent drink and beer list. We tried the peanuts and popcorn which was a dark porter full of crackerjack flavor. It was very good. We also had the Bilbo raspberry wheat which was fine. We started with the cheese bread sticks and a side of dill dip. The sticks were good. The dough was hot and full of flavor. The true winner of the evening was of course the dill dip! It is so amazing, if I had been returning home sooner, I would have ordered several for the road. That is a blast from the past taste for me, and it is so amazing good, I would love their secret recipe! It is so creamy and full of dill, it is a great dip with bread, veggies, pizza crust! Sooo good. We had a large pan pizza with spinach. It is a decent pizza. I would not say the absolute best in the world, but worth getting anytime we are in the area. It was cooked perfectly and was perfect for a family of four. If we lived closer, I would have ordered the extra large for leftovers, since the large was eight pieces. I was disappointed they did not offer their whole menu. One child wanted pasta, and they did not have any pasta, so we opted for the mozzarella sticks instead. They did not seem homemade, just frozen store bought, nothing special. I had a favorite sandwich that they sell there, but since we already had so much food I did not have the chance to try it again. I also would like to try their deep dish cookie with ice cream in the future. But perhaps on another trip.

We arrived exactly at 4 PM after seeing this weekly promotion on social media. Upon arrival, the venue was empty, yet we were completely denied access to bowling due to a private event, and told that no bowling customers would be allowed until 6 PM. Before anything else, I want to clarify an important point: "Free" does not mean customers should be treated poorly. Free events are often meant to introduce people to a business, attract new customers, and create a welcoming first impression. Offering something for free does not justify rude behavior, dismissive communication, or shifting responsibility onto customers. Respect and basic courtesy should apply regardless of whether an event is paid or free. What bothered me most was not being turned away, but the blame-shifting that followed. When a business publicly advertises "Free Bowling Wednesdays" and encourages people to show up at 4 PM, it is reasonable for customers to rely on that information. Adding the word "limited" on social media posts does not communicate that no bowling customers are allowed at all until 6 PM due to a private event. Those are two very different messages. Instead of acknowledging the lack of clear communication, the responsibility was shifted onto us as customers with statements like "you should have called." This is unfair. Customers should not be expected to double-check an advertised public event by phone when no such instruction was mentioned. What made the experience more disappointing was the lack of empathy no apology, no ownership of the confusion, and no attempt to acknowledge how frustrating it is to arrive on time to an empty venue and still be denied entry. This review is not about complaining. It's about accountability. Clear communication and basic courtesy go a long way, and this situation could have been handled very differently with a simple acknowledgment and apology.

Had they informed me that a shorter bowl would result in me getting in sooner, I would've selected a shorter timespan. Either way, I decided to give them a chance, selected a seltzer (the cheapest at around .35 cents/ounce) and my drink came out to $10! It left me confused. Then proceed to go drink and watch the bowlers and there were 3 open lanes out of 4. For 20+ minutes, not a single group came in to bowl. As I was watching, it became increasingly clear that the host at the entrance wasn't trained to ensure everyone gets a chance, or for clear communication. Only positive? My drink was good, the few customers in there seemed to enjoy themselves. Just don't come to bowl, you wont get in. Look at the previous reviews, I am not the first to complain about this. Also, it looks like whomever is supposed to be checking these reviews doesn't care as there seem to be no responses to rectify these issues.

Quite possibly the worst dining experience I have ever had…read more The restaurant smelled bad and it almost caused my wife to leave. That would have been fortuitous. Instead, we had to endure a staff that not only was rude, but willfully neglectful. She had only one other table and, yet, our server, Katlyn, never checked with us unless we forced her to acknowledge us. She avoided eye contact at all costs. Ten minutes with empty drinks and we finally got her attention. My wife asked for another beer and she ran off before I could even ask for another of my drink! The dinner was terrible. My wife's Blackened Bleu Steak ($32) was so bad that she took two bites and set it aside. The food was overcooked and salty. My Olive Cheese Smash Burger ($16) was the same. When we called for the check, the waitress did not even question that the food was nearly untouched on our plates. There are so many great restaurants in the area. But High Dive is worth the feat of finding a nearby spot!) I highly recommend the wings - some of the best we've had in town!! If you're looking for a swanky place to go in Kalamazoo, SkyDeck is your place. Oh, but it's never been busy when I've gone. Background music was playing, and yes you can get a view of the city, but there's a lot of cranes and building going on now, and you're only really 7 stories up. I wish they'd move the smoking section (or get rid of it altogether) since you have to walk through a cloud of smoke to get to the bathrooms...

Upon moving to Kalamazoo, Skydeck took somewhat of a mythical status in my mind. Who wouldn't want…read moreto live it up on the tallest bar in Kzoo? The fact that you can't see it's layout from the ground floor lends to the allure. All this is to say that I created a legend in my head that sadly wasn't true. Skydeck was interesting, fun for a night, and not much more. Perhaps it's for this reason that I gave it an average rating. But I also think that there were a few flaws regarding the space and I'll lay them out here. First and foremost, you pay a premium to be in this space, both in the form of a cover ($10, nothing insane) and an apparent tariff on the drinks (maybe it's handling fees for hauling it all up so high?). Either way, you should expect to be a bit gouged for cash. Not all of the drinks are insane, but mixed drinks are pricey, and some of their "signature" drinks top $12. Now, initially, this might seem like a fair trade: a bit extra for high quality drinks and a higher quality view. But here's the rub: it's a small space, it's packed, and the edge seats go first. For me and my group to enjoy the breathtaking view of Kalamazoo, we would have to stand or share tables. It's difficult to blame them for being popular. That being said, I don't really feel like we received the main feature of the venue. A friend of mine put it sagely: it's a great date spot, or celebration, but you don't go their to drink. You go there for the experience. Therefore, this won't become one of my "regular spots." Here are some positives to end on: -Amazing view of the city -Great ambiance, especially at night -Wonderful service -Elevator!
