Dined here on multiple occasions, food is excellent. The whipped feta mousse is own fo the best dishes downtown and I have never been disappointed in an order. Unfortunately, I have been sitting here for nearly 50 minutes and only my wine order has been taken. I am in a booth that is slightly obstructed from much of the room but the table adjacent to mine has gotten great service from their server. She has certainly seen me sitting here and I can't imagine why she wouldn't inform my server that I have sat here with no service. I wouldn't have stayed here had I not already ordered wine, but patience is running thin. Update: been here an hour, it's 5:00pm, can't imagine shift change could cause me to go unnoticed, sitting 10 feet from the host stand and within view of the server station. We went for happy hour on a Friday. The service was wonderful and the food was delicious! We sat outside and ordered Dark and Stormys. The Dark and Stormys were a bit sweeter than I'm used to - I'm guessing that they used lime syrup instead of lime juice but the good news is that I like my cocktails sweet. All in all, it was a wonderful happy hour! PS I have been here before and I ordered the gazpacho. A great place for a date night. The place is cozy but still full of buzz. The bar is a great place to sit and chat. Love that you can build a charcuterie to your tastes. The drinks are always well made and their wine list is good. Most of the time we just get drinks and a big charcuterie and call it good. We go back often. read more

This place was excellent. I always scope out menus ahead of time, and I'm in town for a conference. A colleague made a reservation for us here, and as soon as I saw they had a steak flight on the menu, I knew that's what I wanted to order. The steak flight is supposed to come medium rare but I needed it to be medium well, and they were able to accommodate it. When the board came out, the steak was still pretty red, as you can see in my photo, and the waiter asked if I needed it cooked longer, and was able to make that happen for me - very good customer service. There is street parking right outside the restaurant, and after 6:00 p.m. it's free, so that was a good deal as well. Overall I would definitely come back here, my party didn't order dessert but I saw they had a cookie board which looked awesome, as well as a few other nice-looking options. read more

We have been here several times and the food is always fantastic! Creatively imagined and beautifully presented. Last night we arrived at 4:30 pm for their Tuesday through Saturday happy hour where they offer several appetizers and cocktails at reduced prices. Also Bells Two Hearted and Shorts Local Light pints for $3. A select white and red wine are available for $5. Last night I enjoyed the Crisp Martini ($8) and the selected red wine which was a Malbec and delicious. Hubby had two hearted and red wine. We loved the PEI mussels and Truffle Potato Croquettes. We noshed until HH ended (6:01 pm) then split Apple Salad and Poached Halibut from the main menu. Everything was perfectly cooked and delicious! This is a beautiful restaurant with a view of Michigan avenue, a cool bar and loft area as well as outside seating. We have never had trouble getting a table and I'm shocked they are not busier at Happy Hour. You gotta check it out! read more

We happened to stop by during Restaurant Week unintentionally. We had the Caprese and Gazpacho. They were ok, but didn't compare to the entrees. I had the Za'atar Crusted Salmon with pearl couscous salad, tabouli, yogurt sauce, grilled lemon. Gah! It was soooo good. I only let my husband have a small bite before I demanded it back. It paired perfectly with my Last Days of Disco. It was a gorgeous drink recommended by the wait staff and I'm not normally a Gin drinker, but this was light and refreshing, perfect for a fish dish. My husband had the short rib with elote style corn. It was fantastic and he had the Black Manhattan which tasted more like a Blackberry Old Fashioned to me. We were in the area for a Bell's Brewery Tour and a little less than an hour away. We will definitely return for more entrees. The restaurant week appetizers were just fine, but the entrees were worth returning for. Cannot wait to come back! read more

We recently had dinner here, and it was a beautiful interior and space. When making the reservation we were asked if it was a special occasion....it was a birthday. We were seated near a window, and though it was a good view, we basically needed to keep our coats/vests/sweaters on as it was definitely chilly. We had a cool server who was very helpful and had a great sense of humor. The food was good, but somewhat small portions and inconsistent depending on the selection (the duck entree for example, was about 9 forkfuls, and unfortunately a bit grizzly). Was visiting from Chicago for the weekend and stopped in on a Saturday night. The hostess with the round glasses and brown hair was so rude! She asked if we had reservations and when we said no she pursed her lips together, tilted her head, and said "hmm." Like she was pitying us or something. There was about 10 tables open, which pissed us off. I go to downtown Chicago restaurants all of the time and have never been treated so snotty. Calm down girl, you're in Kalamazoo. My colleague was delayed, and the server was very sensitive about making her feel welcome & helping her forget what had delayed her. Ambiance also restorative after spending day in classrooms. Bread was excellent, though charging $5 for a small amount was excessive. The person who brought my meal to the table almost dropped it. The knife bounced off my lap onto the floor. Salad slid off the plate onto the table. I mention this blip not to jam up the person who had this mishap but to praise the server. When I mentioned the accident, which the server had not been informed of, she was beyond professional. She offered to have the order remade (no need!), brought more bread when we suggested that instead, and comped dessert (100% recommend lemon curd!). Our wagyu steak board was a bit cold and anticlimactic. Coming from Chicago maybe I had too high of expectations? They discounted it though!

The ambiance is great. It's loud but I t is beautifully done. However, I waited 30 minutes for a drink despite going up to bar after 20 mins to ask our specific waitstaff in front of a manager to please let me order. Then it took another ten minutes to get the drink. and the appetizer I had was not good...skip the potato croquettes! Flavorless mashed potato balls (at 16$ no less). The service was slow and we saw our waitstaff only about every half hour. They need more staff for sure. I expect more from a millennium group restaurant--maybe just bad timing. read more

Have you ever accidentally invited yourself to a party? I did! I went to the wine loft with a friend. When we walked in, I looked around and said oh nice they are having a party. I went and sat on the other side of the venue. The server came over and asked if I was with the party. I said no and was informed that the wine loft is closed on Sunday and Monday. I was deeply disappointed as this was the 3rd place I had attempted to go to. However, the party host invited me to stay and gifted me with the lovely drink. The wine loft has a really nice environment. I hope to go back during business hours:-). read more

We started with the Bakes Brie, 2 of us had Fresh Market Fish in Banana Leaf (Salmon) and it was delicious! My husband had the Manhattan NY Strip which was cooked perfectly and the truffle potato croquettes were amazing! My friend ordered the NY Duck breast and said it was wonderful! I was looking for somewhere to have dinner in Kalamazoo since I am not from the area and came across this restaurant. I am so glad I did. First, the ambience is wonderful. Love the decor and how inviting it is. Next, I arrived just in time for happy hour which got me a reduced rate on a delicious red wine. Asking my server what he recommended and he said the shrimp and grits. I find it difficult to find places that know how to make this good, but I gave it a shot and ordered it. I did ask for a baguette with my meal since it did not come with it. wow!! It was fabulous and paired wonderfully with my wine. I will go back next time I'm in town again. read more

I was so happy when the Wine Loft reopened as the WL Social House. We came on a Thursday especially to hear live jazz music, which is every Thursday from 5pm to 7pm. I loved the new decor. It wasn't very busy but iwe had a winter storm the day before & morning so that probably kept people from getting out, plus it was early in the evening. We enjoyed sharing the Chef's Choice Charcuterie board and D also ordered the tuna tartare small plate, which I tried a bite and it was very good. The wine we chose was amazing. Service a very good and attentive. We plan on making the WL Social House are go-to place for music on Thursday evenings. read more

Put this patio on your summer must-do list. It's best enjoyed in groups so you can sample as many of their incredible small plates as possible while people-watching passersby from the comfort of their cozy outdoor furniture. Almost all the plates we tried on our recent visit were incredible. The roasted cauliflower needed a little more oomph, though, so we wound up doing it in the sauce and extras that accompanied a friend's phenomenal crab cake dish, and the prosciutto-wrapped asparagus plate was pretty puny .. I was expecting thick, fabulous Michigan asparagus and it wound up being the string-bean width asparagus you generally get in the off-season The pork belly small plate was the overall winner, though. Was very excited to come check out the social house... however I was sat at the bar with my girlfriends and the service was wonderful at the bar. We sat at the bar and had a drink while we were waiting for our table... we were told our wait would be 30-45 minutes. We ended up asking after an hour wait for our table and then was sat at a table. After being sat we waited for forty five minutes at a table and not a single server looked their eye at our table. I personally felt high hopes for this restaurant but am very disappointed in how the service ended. Would love to give it another try though. read more

Food here is good. They have good flatbread pizza and mini crab cakes. We had a party of 17 which they accommodate nicely, however, service was so so so slow for how slow the restaurant was. They have ample seating for large parties but expect service to be slow. I got gelato for dessert and it came out pretty melted. I snapped a photo of the gelato within 20 seconds of receiving it. Thy were quick to serve alcohol but slow to serve the food. Not sure if I'd come back again in large groups. It's a nice ambience so it's a great date night place. Had their mushroom with truffle oil flatbread and kobe beef chimichuri goat cheese flatbread. Was very happy with both. Colleagued likes her salmon dish but I didn't try. Don't get gelato or if you do and it comes out half melted, send it back. I was too passive about and just didn't bother to eat it. read more

My wife and I have happily dined here several times, most often just for desserts and coffee to cap off a night out. Entering the swanky, dimly lit space to meet up with friends starts your adventure into something a little classy and a little retro. The space is gorgeous with the flare of the prohibition era to set the mood. The space is quite small for dining, but the ceiling height makes up for it. The "loft" itself is a quaint little space, maybe best suited for an intimate drink with a few close friends, but not a big crowd. On this particular evening, we had a private party in the loft, which brought friends together to sample a variety of cocktails. From the bartender to the GM, the place was top notch, with great attention to detail everywhere. As far as the wine goes...it wasn't a wine night, so I won't dive into their selection or how much I could have enjoyed sampling their collection.
