Italian sub was mostly vegetables. Steak and cheese was good but I did not like the spices they sprinkled on, had a garlic taste. Prices were sky high. UPDATE: I tried the Steak and cheese again. Firstly, I called in my order and the girl that answered the phone was distracted and laughing- couldn't get my name right. I almost felt like she was doing it on purpose. She kept calling me jack and my name sounds nothing like that. She kept giggling. The sub was expensive, top dollar for a sub, even compared to downtown Boston. I opened up the sub and to my surprise- it wasn't cut in half and I was on the road with no knife. Imagine eating a large sub in it's entirety instead of a manageable half. Now imagine a complete large sub that's bending while you hold it and as you are trying to bite it cleanly the steak has not been completely chopped up and it's got chewy gristle pieces that pull more steak out of the sub as you are eating it. The steak was low quality with gristly strings that chewed like bubblegum. I asked for extra cheese- totally dry on the top with some cheese on the bun side. The key to a perfect steak and cheese is the cheese distribution and tender steak without any gristly bits. This $18+ sub was a complete failure. Overall, I will not be visiting again. This place has low standards for their food and their employees but they charge top dollar. Poor leadership really shines through here. You can let a bunch of kids horse around in your sub shop but sooner or later it will cost the owners their business. They got to have fun and laugh but in the end the owners will cry. I really wanted to like this place, it reminded me of the good days when food was delicious and real but alas, the good old days are gone and they are never coming back. Found my way back again to this delicious Small Sub Shop with a Big Taste to savor my hearty appetite after a good hike at Bensons Park. Had a steak bomb here as everyone recommended going here for a sub. It was worth the hype. Even though I could get a good quality steak bomb sub for a fraction of the price from Market Basket, Bill Cahills proved to me that they are legit. The shaved steak was exactly the quality of a steak bomb I strive for. Service was good, and they were pretty quick considering they are so busy for a small place. Place is a joke. My sub didn't have lettuce or oil and vinegar that I ordered . My daughter's Italian sub wrap had raw onions and peppers (name a 7 year old that would eat that) and not the lettuce or tomatoes we asked for. The wrap is dry and crumbled apart. The oddest part is my husbands Italian sub had cooked onions and peppers? Why was his cooked and hers raw? And why did they put raw onions and peppers when it wasn't ordered on hers? No point in going back I'd rather just warn others/ they don't listen. read more

Pulled over for a snack with a partner and first glance was I thought "a rundown store", turns out it's a great hole in the wall with the best team there. Full of teen to college aged gentlemen waiting attentively on your word of what you like! I came at a dead time but 4 customers rolled in as soon as I ordered, a local place for a nice place to bite. Except the bite is basically 2 meals in 1 sandwich haha Ordered the beef and potato foot long (forgot to get photos) but they absolutely stack the meat in your sandwich to the point it's bulging! 5/5 would come back again for the fast service and convenient eats! read more

I've been going to Cahill since I moved up here in 86 always been great. The last time I went and got a steak and cheese it was half the steak. I usually got in a sandwich. I don't mind paying for a sandwich if it's good and I went there yesterday and it had so much fat I couldn't even eat half of it, I had to throw it away. I called Cahill's and they said they had a new Cook and that was the problem, but never offered me anything so I think I'll find another sub shop two in a row. read more

Not good. Need to overhaul the menu and train all the kids how to cook/prep subs. They're friendly. They just don't know how to make a sub. Meatball parm had an old sauce that had peppers and onions in it for some reason. Cheese steak was very dry and lacked season. Cahill's always comes through with the best value for your dollar in the area. Their steak subs are legendary and a large has an insane amount of meat on it which could be seasoned better. I suggest the steak bomb with extra cheese, get 200 napkins and don't attempt to eat this thing in your car. Also you have approx 3 minutes to consume this before the bread bottoms out on to your lulus. read more

Been buying subs from here for almost 40 years. Always loved the size of the subs. I told everyone about it. Everyone would tell me I was not wrong. Big bang for the buck. Now not so much. Owner raised the prices of his subs then started putting less meat in them. I would pay the new prices if they didn't skimp out on size of sub. But to raise prices and skimp, I draw the line. Twice in last month I bought subs. Both very small and no way the same amount of meat inside these subs. I usually buy a sm veal cutlet. It came with 3-4 slices of breaded veal. Last two I bought only came with 2 little slices. There was more bread then anything else. I use to struggle eating 1 of their subs. Now 2 or 3 bits and it's gone. Not worth the price hike in my eyes. Owner should remove the "SUPER" from his business name & Signage as this place is no longer SUPER, sorry to say. read more

It's official I finally remembered to come here before noon and grab myself a real crab meat sub They only have this on Friday is the real crabmeat and let me tell you if you get the large it's definitely enough for two people and it's absolutely delicious it's like phenomenal it's definitely my go to on Fridays if I remember to eat lunch before noon because it does sell out thank you for making my Friday a better one today see pictures for the yummy Ness I also believe it's $10 for a small and $12 for a large so obviously you want to get the large Always get extra pickles on everything because they're so delicious year and I forgot to add them on my sub but man they are delicious read more

When we pulled up to this place, it looked like a little fisherman's shack. Going inside it's a blast from the past, very cozy. The employees were very nice and crazy quick, it took no longer than 2 minutes for 3 large subs. The quality of the Italian sub was amazing, the meat and the vegetables were fresh. The steak sub was high quality too, there was so much meat and a good amount of cheese. Great place, will stop by again when we're in the area. read more

Being from New Jersey I know a good sub when I eat one. The only subs I've gotten from here are the crab and sea food salad. Both are excellent and very fresh. Their regular sub is huge but I always manage to finish it. Strictly takeout. read more

In the early 2000's I went to Cahills on many days ( 50 + ) and on Fridays, always for the crapmeat sub. While expensive, I considered it worth the price. Today, I went back, for the first time, in a long time, and the sub I got ( $17.90 ) was not even close to the one I used to get. They did not even I wanted to give me the change back for the purchase. They were good, in the past, but are living on what happened in the past. Steak and cheese is great everything else is just ok or not good, They over do the condiments on the could cut subs like the Italian but it taste good. The meatball sub is gross. Chicken parm is just ok. I eat the steak and cheese all the time it's a great sandwich. The kids that work here are great at their jobs and they are always polite and you never see any of them just standing around doing nothing they look like hard workers. We did not know anything about the "old" Benson's and it had not been renovated yet. Stopped by on my way back from Nashua. A friend told me "that place has the best subs" so I was glad to check it out. This place is the real deal for subs. It is not a fancy place. It is small, kinda of divey, and located on a small lot in the middle of a traffic island. Inside a busy team (owner and younger woman) were all very eager to take my order. I had a 12" steak & cheese with mild hots. Bread was fresh & soft, lean and tender, and the sandwich was very tasty. $9 and some change. Been coming here for as long as I can remember, easily over 20 yrs. I've brought friends and family from east and west coast here and have always said it's the last great place specific to being from Hudson, NH. Unfortunately the last few visits I've seen a raise in price and reduction in quality and portion size. Very frustrating to repeat a 3 sub order 3 times and on the fourth time have the young employee write it down and the order still come out wrong ( my last visit being Saturday 11/2 there were maybe 7 other customers in at the time ) I know that it can get extremely busy and hectic in there, might be time to have these kids writing orders out and maybe having someone over the age of 18 present to make sure things are being done correctly. read more

Hands down the best sub shop in Hudson. I used to bike here with my friends when we were early teens and was top notch then. And just this week 30+ yrs later was visiting family and stopped over for take out lunch with my son. Bill was there and the subs still amazing! The pickles are the absolute best - I haven't found them cubed and tasty like this anywhere else. Meats are always fresh and the other veggies good too.
