The…read morekitchen was updated with new appliances, cabinets, flooring, etc. The information on the website said it sleeps 8. When we arrived we realized that only two twin beds had comfortable mattresses, the two queens had old mattresses with no back support so that your legs were higher than your body (first floor bedroom). The mattress was probably a 30 year old Bob's discount mattress (it was completely sealed in a zippered mattress cover, so you wouldn't see how yellowed in color it was) which probably was never great and now just old and worn out. There were two twin beds upstairs with pieces of foam pads, not real mattresse. When you laid on them you could feel the slates in the box spring. When we complained about the beds, the agent said that they never had heard this complaint before and were surprised. When we told them that it was on reviews on VRBO (the last two reviews), they changed their story to, "We never had anyone tell us directly". I don't like when agents are deceptive. The upside is that when we complained they replaced the twin mattresses upstairs but didn't replace the bad queen mattress in the first floor bedroom or the queen mattresse upstairs, they put a piece of foam under it, which didn't fix the old mattresses. When you rent a property, the most important thing are the beds and this queen bed was the worst bed we have ever slept on. The bedrooms are of good size and get nice natural light. The bathroom upstairs is updated and big with alot of open space, but it could be nicer if they had another cabinet to put toiletries on, especially if you are going to have 6 people upstairs. Another deception, was it said they had cable tv, but when we arrived, they didn't, just the spectrum app, which isn't cable. So no local news and weather. The TV's did have Netflix, etc. which was good. The house had adequate pans, utensils, etc. They only had 8 dinner plates, a hodge podge of bowls, glasses. If you have a group of 8 persons staying there, you will need to wash dishes and glasses after each meal. Refrigerator, dishwasher were new. Sink was new also. They did not have a dish rack in the house, so no where to dry hand washed dishes other than the counter. They had one small dish towel, fortunately we brought some from home, but they should have dish towels as a standard. Washer and dryers worked well. The systems in the house were noisy. The water heater made a racket when running which is in a closet on the first floor. When water was running in the house there was noise (buzzing) coming from the water main which is under a cabinet in the kitchen. There were air conditioners in the bedrooms, which were old and loud, but worked, but no air conditioning in the main living area. It wasn't too hot the week we were there, so it wasn't a problem. Its unfortunate that the houses beds are so bad. My advice is not to rent this house unless they replace the two queen beds alone. Also I won't rent a home from Salt and Shine Rental. There is no where to review a house on their website, so you don't know what you are renting and I no one likes someone who spins the truth and treats customers like they are ignorant. I would rent from airBnB or VRBO where you know what you are getting through reviews. We should have read the reviews on VRBO before renting, but we did not, so we know better now.

Seriously - beautiful and picture perfect! (bring your paintbrushes and paints) Tastefully decorated with lots of bedrooms and plenty of bathrooms too! Three floors of living space, it's an adventure to be explored, a beach, a never ending dock, sail boats, motor boats, fishing, restaurants, park, churches and sidewalks are right outside your door. (Did I forget a porch with heavy dark green rockers and a beautiful green lawn with a white picket fence and blue hydrangeas? - one word - picnic) Honestly, I would think most people would know about this place and it would be impossible to get a reservation, but while it's still a secret, let's keep it that way, so we can stay here more often and on the weeks we want!!

We started with the assorted cheese and meats. Our delightful waitress arrives with a our charcuterie consistent of a delicious mix of nutty, creamy goat cheese, a savory cheese with a peppery truffle taste and an assortment of delicious meats- to the side, two pieces of crusty herb bread = heaven. For dinner I had the strip steak and my husband the butter fried Pork chops. Every bit of these two dishes was superb. I mean it. The last meal I had equivocal to this was in the north end in Boston. You can leave your car and just walk down a small path/road that makes it very easy for you to get down to the beach. The place is very clean and spacious. They have everything you need when it comes to making your meals. Lots of closet and cupboard space. The Inn is clean and very comfortable. I can always get in touch with the owners very quickly. They are very responsive if I have a question. We have recommended the Inn to friends and family and we will be back. Thank you!

Bedrooms were upstairs but the stairs are so steep, and under the roof pitch you have to crouch down to use them. Bringing luggage up is a nightmare. Top railing around the stairwell is extremely wobbly and unsafe. Barn style door fell off in the night (no stop on it). Wiring is stapled with all metal staples (not to code in our state...). There is a door at the bottom of the stairs, that can be hooked shut - god forbid if a fire broke out and the door was hooked. Cleanliness was fair. Not suited for anyone with children or mobility issues. I can't believe it passed any kind of building or fire codes - Never again.

We, as long as others, were doing laps around the main lot and the mini lot for the Harbor Hill Inn trying to find a spot. We ended up having to park on the street because there were not enough spots at Harbor Hill. When checking in, we were told there are enough spots for each room, yet the lot for our Inn was completely full. We were also told that if we found a spot, we shouldn't move the car. We wanted to explore the area more, so we did have to leave, it is odd to me that an Inn doesn't have a better parking situation for Inn patrons. We thought it would be fun to go to the pub for apps and a drink before our dinner reservation at the main restaurant. Unfortunately, we were met with an hour long wait for 2 at the pub. I do find it interesting when an Inn doesn't open up reservations or spots for their own guests to dine, rather than locals. When we did go to our dinner reservation, we had a nice time. Our waiter was helpful. When the food came, they brought out a wrong dish. The boy that brought it out told us he wished we said something before he put it on the table because now the dish couldn't be used. We weren't able to tell it wasn't the right dish until it was in front of us.... we then waiting 15 minutes for the right food to come out. Our waiter had them remake my meal as well since it got cold, which was nice. The food was great once we finally had it. They also comped 50% of the wrong dish which was also nice. After dinner we had drinks and headed back to our room to go to bed. A phone call woke us up. It was the front desk; they told us that "Someone came into the lobby furious that our room is being so loud. They said that last night, this morning and this evening we have been ridiculously loud." I told the person on the other line that we have been asleep in bed, and we only checked in this evening. I find it curious that the front desk wouldn't look who was in the room and if we had even been there the day prior. Then, instead of offering an apology, they said "well do you hear any noise?" I said earlier the room next to us was making some noise but nothing like they are describing. They then said, "well which side, right or left?" I said I do not know I need to go back to bed. Pretty unbelievable, and something that hasn't even happened to me at a cheap hotel. I wish I walked away feeling better about our stay, but it is in a beautiful location...

The room was small for the price but again, I knew we would pay a little more for an INN in York Maine but it was still a little small with a VERY small shower. But there definitely have been a few upgrades to the room we were in. Also there was a cool fireplace with a instafire log in there to use if wanted. The breakfast in the morning was not that great outside of the coffee and eggs ... so we weren't that impressed with that. The service was great though as they were attentive and super nice at every turn while we were there and made it a much more memorable stay. So, if you are looking for a basic place to lay your head then this will suffice but if you are looking for a luxurious INN stay, look around!
