The owner was so wonderful. We missed our checkout time because we were running a race that had organizational issues. We came back soaking wet and freezing cold. She let us go back into our room, change, and get dry before we drove home. The rooms are nice, clean, and had everything we needed for our stay. We will definitely be back. read more

This was a great place to stay. We were here for a wedding and all the big chain hotels were charging $450 with taxes and fees. Total rip off! We found this lovely place for $230 night. We had two nice rooms and upstairs and downstairs and 1.5 baths. Fully stocked with extra blankets and anything you needed. A full kitchen with plates glasses, wine glasses and fridge. Close proximity to. Supermarket and places to eat, order pizza from. Do not recommend Maine diner-- it's recommended in The welcome book but the food is greasy and gross! So many other breakfast nooks to dine in. Most of the places in the area are dated but this one is immaculate, welcoming and quiet. It was sold out and we never heard any noise from any other people. Plenty of bath and beach towels. Decorations for Halloween-- helpful staff -- lovely stay! read more

What a gem. I stumbled onto this place when looking for a room for a last minute Labor Day weekend getaway with the family...and am so glad I did. Our "room" was a spacious 2-level (loft) suite with 4 beds (including a pullout sofa), 2 baths, full kitchen (full size fridge, stove, micro, dishwasher), and dining room table. Updated decor with lots of accent pieces really made it feel warm and cozy. They have a couple of chairs outside each room to get some fresh air, and built in towel drying bars on the porch. They've really thought of everything. Separate climate control upstairs and down, and windows that actually open if that's your thing. They give out popcorn at check in, and you can grab more for the outdoor movie they play each night. They also have Lawn games out front; 3 large gas fire pits; 6 gas grills you can use; a playground and 2 pools (indoor/outdoor). Not cheap at $400+ per night, but my whole family loved this place and we'd definitely stay again. read more

Great resort. Perfect for the kids. Something going on every night (outdoor movies, live entertainment). The rooms are a little dated and it's the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars. Rooms are clean, full kitchen, indoor and outdoor pools, cornhole boards, fire pits, 5-10 mins from the beaches, on the trolley route (although we didn't take the trolley but thought it deserved a mention). We really had a great time here and would absolutely come back. read more

We were very pleased with the Elmwood. They have outdoor activities each night (which we didn't participate in because it rained most of the time we were there!) such as live music, movies, and WII competitions. They have overpriced movies to rent $3 a pop!) so bring your own. They also have corn hole and ladder ball you can play. There's a pretty good playground too. Indoor and outdoor pools were great. Best thing about the indoor pool is the building has windows that open! No stifling hot chlorine smelling pool area! They also have a sauna which was a nice treat. Rooms were great. We did a 1 bedroom suite for the 4 of us - 2 adults and 2 kids. Full sized pull out couch was perfect for the girls. Kitchen had everything you need. Not sure what level of housekeeping we were supposed to have though. They did make the bed and either give us fresh towels or refold them. I know they didn't vacuum since the same paper scraps were on the floor after they cleaned. (Art project gone wrong!) It wasn't a problem for us but if you're staying a whole week and visiting the beach a lot I can see sand being a problem. There was no vacuum in the room for our use. read more

I am so angry and disappointed! If you are booking this hotel through priceline, be aware of false advertising. The location I put a search in for was Portsmouth NH or Kittery Maine! It gave me Elmwood Resort as an option to book and listed beneath the name was Portsmouth NH/Kittery ME. So I booked yesterday assuming that this hotel was where it had been advertised. Last night when I checked my reservation again to determine the distance between the venues it stated that the distance was 30 minutes, which was MUCH longer than I expected to travel since I am already traveling 2 1/2 hours to Portsmouth!!! At this point I realize the Resort is IN FACT NOT IN EITHER Portsmouth NH or Kittery ME!!! I called and cancelled with Priceline, BUT when I spoke to Scott, the Manager, at Elmwood Resort to cancel, because clearly it was an honest mistake on my end, they refused to refund my card. They did not care that this was in error and I explained and even emailed the false ad! He was more worried about enforcing the no refund policy than doing the honorable thing in refunding me, as he acknowledged that he saw the ad and it did say Portsmouth/Kittery !!!! I am completely disgusted by this. I will have to keep the reservation despite my complete and utter dismay at the poor business ethic displayed today!!!!!! What a lovely, welcoming, comfortable place to stay! My family and I booked three two-room suites for a family wedding weekend, and the Elmwood was accommodating and absolutely perfect for our needs. The suites are well-equipped and very comfortable for families, and while they could use some updates (some are, some are not), we definitely felt right at home. The rooms are clean, the staff is incredible kind and the grounds are immaculate. We used the pools (one indoor, one outdoor, both heated), made dinner on the grills and let our kids run around on the playground and beautiful grassy area. We found the rates to be super reasonable for what you get, and they even gave us our third night gratis as part of a special promotion. We found the rooms to be super quiet -- our 14-month-old slept better than she ever has outside of her own crib. The upstairs/downstairs design of the suites allows for early bedtimes for kids without the worry of waking them up, and I love the open porches, which makes it super easy to go between rooms, especially when your family is next door. While some of the suites could definitely use a refresh, I found the overall experience to be exceptional and would happily come back for another family weekend. It was seriously perfect! read more

This motel was recommended by a friend. While the place was clean (Which is very important) I don't think we would stay here again. The room we stayed in needed a face lift ! It was very dated. No window treatments except blinds. Wouldn't a valance be a nice touch? The couch in the living area was very low to the floor and it was hard to get up from with my arthritic knees. The mattress was Very firm and both my husband and I woke up all three morning with sore backs. The bathroom vanity was very low and the shower head very old and not efficient. WiFi kept cutting out saying retry...retry................so annoying! We had actual keys........not key cards so bulky! Get with the times and up date this feature Also a fully outfitted kitchen should have paper towels and salt and pepper shakers, neither was supplied. Also my last pet peeve....NO ICE MACHINE. You have to make your own ice with trays provided. Who wants to do this on vacation? Ice maker in refrigerator would be nice We purchased a 5-lb bag of ice at Hannafords. It did have 2 large screen TV;'s. 1 i bedroom on in living area. Guess we are spoiled by staying at Disney Hotels in Orlando. They are large, clean and fully stocked. The Elmwood is where I always choose to stay at when visiting Maine. It is located along the main road that seems to run up the entire state. The complex is made up either 1 or 2 bedroom privately owned condos, so each is unique in their own way. The ones I have been at come fully furnished including a queen bed, a sleeper sofa, reclining chair, large TV, dining table, small kitchen with plates, glasses, etc. I was very impressed when I go here. All of the units have been very clean. The rest of the grounds include two pools, one indoor and one outdoor. The indoor one includes a sauna. Plenty of tables, chairs, and lounge chairs throughout. There is a grill area on site for cooking, a small playground, and even an area with a large screen where they show movies at night. It is really a neat design. The woman who was running the place was super nice and one evening was walking around delivering complimentary bags of popcorn to all the units. Very nice and cheerful woman. The road it's on gets super busy during peak times so plan your travels accordingly. There is a Dunkin Donuts directly across the street which was perfect for the mornings. If looking for a place to dine for dinner, Mike's Clam Shack down the road has always hit the spot for me. Wish the location was closer to the ocean (you will still need a car to get there) but for the price this place is great. Recommend. read more

Elm wood is very nice the decor is wonderful we have been here more then once it is a vary nice place and we are here with are friends that own a house in elmwood .but the downside here is there is nothing to do.theres a lot of restraints like there is wone I went to called the fishermen's catch restraints it is good for dinner. It was very clean we did not find anything gross. read more

Wife and I have stayed several times at The Elmwood Resort. We've always had a nice experience. Clean, neat, well kept and friendly staff. We always get the king suite and never had any issues. I'd recommend this to anyone staying in the wells area. read more

Just returned from a wonderful stay at the Elmwood resort. My family and I have been coming to the Elmwood for over 10 years. It's the perfect place for families and guests looking for larger suites. We love the having a full kitchen, living room and multiple bedrooms and bathrooms. This is the first time we have been able to come up to stay since Covid started. They are doing such an amazing job at the Elmwood. Everything was so clean and you can tell they have gone above and beyond to make guests feel comfortable and safe. Having a child that is high risk, we were nervous traveling but the staff at the Elmwood have really thought of everything. We had such a great stay. My kids had so much fun. Scott, Lisa & all the staff were so thoughtful and helpful. My only regret is we didn't come up to stay sooner. We felt so safe there and it was a much needed change of scenery for us all. We've stayed here about 4 times. A few times in the 2 bedroom unit. THe first time we stayed the bed was not comfortable at all in one unit (bottom floor in the corner on left). Each unit is individually owned, so decorating and updating is different per unit. The outdoor pool is clean, the firepit and outside movies are a great idea. Movie rentals at the front office are expensive for outdated movies, you can just go to red box. The indoor pool is supposed to be heated, it's not, but it's clean. There is a cute little playground on the property, which is great. The grounds are kept up nicely. Nancy at the front desk is super personable and very helpful. My complaints where, Lisa at the front desk is rude and we had complained about her two different times. They don't come clean your room until around 3 in the afternoon, not a big deal, but if you are there for a week paying for that service, it would be nice if they came earlier. Our room didn't get cleaned the whole time we were there because we happened to be in the room that same time each day because of naps. Overall we would stay again. read more

I have stayed here over a dozen times. The units are owned by people, kind of like a condo. But then when not in use, they are rented out. The rooms are clean and spacious. They have a kitchen, so when we went to Maine for a week, we could cook meals rather than eat out 3X a day. The televisions are up to date and they have an in-house video rental. We get more use out of that when we go in the winter :) It's pretty good on sound. At high season the place is packed with families and I couldn't hear other rooms. If you are near a stairwell and are in the living room area, you will hear people going up and down that, but that doesn't bother me. I just don't want to hear other people's TVs and so far I've not encountered such an issue. They have an outdoor and an indoor pool and both are clean. The indoor can get swamped as pools do during the summer, but in the winter, my son and I have had the place to ourselves a few times. It is a chlorine pool, so when you hang your suits in your bathroom afterwards, be prepared for the chlorine smell :) They also have a sauna which is very handy for drying your suits if you will be there for an extended stay. They have a laundry mat, which is quite helpful when 90% of your clothes have sand in them from multiple trips to the beach :) You can walk across the street to a Dunkin Donuts. I know this can be a very important detail for some :) The staff is very helpful and friendly. There is grocery store a mile away for food if you use the kitchen. There is a bus stop right outside if you want to get to Well's Beach in high season and don't want to search for a spot or pay for parking. That's all I can think of right now. But my family goes to Wells regularly, 4X last year, and this is the only place I ever consider these days. read more

Not good. Very outdated unit 146. Oven from 1987 I think. Bath towels are ratty. No a/c in living space only bedroom. Is somewhat clean except the dead roach in the tiny bathroom. Art on the wall is from a 1979 thrift store. Not comfortable, not homey. Pots and pans are crappy so fully stocked kitchen is a joke. Pool is tiny. Totally not worth the money. I asked to have an updated unit and they said this one was a good one. I wish I could get my money back. 2 stars because it was basically clean. To the owner of unit 146. You need to update your space it's kind of horrible and a rip off. We work hard for our money, and we wasted too much of it on unit 146. I do not recommend this place. read more

We had a lovely stay at the Elmwood. Clean room, nice kitchenette, very comfy king bed, outdoor pool very warm, very friendly staff. Bring your own paper towels if you plan on cooking. I just love this place. Stumbled across it about ten years ago and now it is our haven when we visit maine. We always stay in room 166. Large condo style. Sleeps up to ten people. This unit has everything you could ever need. Spacious, immaculate, warm helpful staff. Jacuzzi. Huge kitchen. Great place. I would recommend this to everyone. read more

I like this place because it is clean, friendly and updated. The staff is very helpful. They have indoor and outdoor pools, a playground, gas grilles, a fire pit and is on the trolley line. The king size beds are new and comfortable. Great value for the money. Never a problem there. read more
