Bill provided a very detailed and thorough estimate, and impressively enough (and unlike some other contractors and similar folk I've dealt with in the past) stayed within that amount, which was very reasonable. They were very thorough, did quality work from beginning to end, were open to my requested changes, and he and his second in command Victor made a couple of suggestions that were a better way to go than my original ideas while at the same time honoring my vision. Bill Taylor is the exception. I could fill a half-dozen reviews like this with stories of contractors who may or may not show up when they say they will, do sloppy work and hope you don't notice, give schedule and budget estimates that are worthless, and generally conduct themselves in a way that, if I acted similarly in my business, would result in my competition eating my lunch in three seconds flat. Instead, I'm going to tell you that Bill Taylor is the exception who is NOT that way. Because of my experiences, when I need a contractor I do a LOT of research, talking directly to past clients when I can, and, otherwise, looking at many review sites to see who keeps showing up with good reviews. Bill passed the second test first, then, when we went to look at a few houses he'd painted and were fortunate enough to encounter the owners, he passed the first test. They had all good things to say about him. Bill showed up to give an estimate right on time, as he did every single day of the job. As he looked at our house, he gave me a master class on the importance of knowing how to prime properly. I questioned him quite directly about work quality and he satisfied me that quality was paramount to him. And so it proved to be. Bill's quote was not the lowest we got, but we went with him because he seemed like he would do the best job, and I believe he did. He worked closely with us in finalizing details, showed up every morning right on time, got the job done in maybe a week (down to the last detail), and really focused on doing everything with quality. No drips to be seen anywhere, no spots missed or uneven. On the very last day, when his right-hand guy was finishing the job, he asked me if he could do a bit more work on our back door because he wasn't satisfied with it. On that last day, I also spotted a few of my neighbors standing across street looking at the house. When I went out to ask them what they thought, they loved it, and the rest of the neighbors have since commented similarly. I gave Bill a hefty tip because he Did It Right, and I truly believe he will do so for you, too. read more

They always worked clean and were respectful. He helped me pick out shades and was patient with my decision making process. I removed some wood paneling from our walls and the underside looked awful. It needed a lot of texturing work as well as some repair from where the glue peeled the paper off of the sheetrock. He and his helper were willing to come in when our business was closed, do everything from start to finish, and kept the floors pristine when they were done. We hired Bill Taylor after getting many enthusiastic recommendations about this services. Our house had not been painted in many many years,, Bill and his crew did an amazing job, from prep to finish. His knowledge of the materials is extensive using the right materials for different areas of the job. Often contractors use a single source for the materials they use. Bill used different sources such as the gutters which were new, galvanized and unpainted. They turned out so great, we were really impressed by the amount of detail he and the crew used to prepare and paint the house. When Mr. Taylor came out to survey the painting job in order to provide a quote, he was on time, courteous and professional. He provided a reasonable estimate for what he indicated would be completed. The job was completed in two days, just as he promised. However although he may have been a professional painter, the crew he had painting my home was not. Upon completion of the job there was green paint on the trim and spots that had been missed. Mr. Taylor gladly came back out and was directing the painters on how to correct the mishaps. Now, if they were professional painters I don't feel he would have needed to provide direction. If you contract with Mr. Taylor make sure you ask him, who will be completing the paint job? If it is the crew that painted my home, pass on this one. read more

Bill Taylor and his team just finished our older (1935) Romantic-style home today. They did a fantastic job. The attention to detail is amazing - I couldn't draw lines any straighter with a pencil and ruler and the finish is perfect. They spent a great deal of time on prep - powerwashing, sanding, priming, and re-caulking. And Bill really knows paint. I think they used at least four different types (not colors - types) on our home depending on the location. As a result our home looks sparkling - we stood outside this afternoon asking "is this really our house?" It's amazing. He also managed the project perfectly. Bill showed up when he said would, was always extremely courteous and accommodating, gave us daily updates as to progress, and made sure to get our input if he had options about how to proceed in a particular area. I highly recommend Bill and he will be doing any work we have in the future. One word to the wise - call him well before you want the work done. Bill and his team were recommended to us by a neighbor. They arrived on time and were very flexible throughout the project to paint the exterior of our home in Benicia. They accommodated our last-minute decision on the garage door color. After completing the major portion of the work, they returned later to coordinate the final painting work with the crew that installed our new gutters and downspouts. They offered to paint our roof vents black at no additional charge. They also cleaned up the paint splatter on the roof left by me several years ago.
