This place was an accidental find during our trip in Seattle. It was late and we were both cold so we were looking for a place to get something warm. We were trying to find somewhere near our airbnb since most of the other spots are closed or we'll have to drive out pretty far. We gave this spot a chance. It was overall 8-9 out of 10 from my bf and I. I ordered Pho and it was so good, with the weather at that time definitely filled me up and warmed me. My bf also ordered the fried tofu as pictured, it was the only one we took, because as per my bf the fried tofu literally changed his life. He was boasting about it on his groupchat with his friends. And we were also debating whether to come back on our last day to Billiard Hoang just for the fried tofu. It was that good.

This is such a slept on restaurant! The fish sauce, wings alone, give this place a five stars for me. They are perfectly cooked and the favor. profile is amazing. Not too salty or sweet. Every time I'm in the area, I try to find an excuse to come grab wings from here! Lol their bun bowl was also really good. It's an average bar/billiard. The inside is not much to brag about, but it's a local owned business that has a very strong customer base. The owners are very nice and are always running around managing a bunch of tables and the kitchen at once. I've never hung out inside, I grabbed my food and go. But it seems like a good time if you wanna hang and watch a game or play some pool. Recommend for a place to hang out, or to eat some really amazing Vietnamese food!

I was across the street for an auto repair. I asked the guys at the shop was the food next door any good. They asked if I like Vietnamese food. I said yes and they said then its the best there is. They weren't wrong. The Pho was amazing. I had meatball Pho and Thai iced tea. It was tasty, filling and had all the accessories (lime, sprouts, mint, peppers). Great service and meal. It didn't hurt Brazil vs Morocco was on the big screen!

Three years ago, I first ate their bun mang vit (duck noodle soup) with a friend and have come back several times ever since to have all their other stuff, with each of them having very consistent and great quality. This recent visit is with my sis on a Saturday night around 6pm as part of my birthday celebrations. We came in to a relatively noisy inside with a ton of people eating inside and people playing billiards on the left-hand side of the restaurant. It gets really noisy in here, to say the least. Lighting is also on the mid-dim side as expected in a bar-like setting yet it's also bright at the same time depending on where in the restaurant you sit at. I'd say most if not all their food here is solid. I got their com tam (grilled pork chop, pork skin and egg cake over broken rice) while my sis got their com suon heo (just grilled pork chops) though she got two sunny side-up eggs on hers. We also got some cha gio (egg rolls) to split. Egg rolls came in hot and piping fresh, and portions for both of our rice dishes was generous. Grilled pork was seasoned just right, and both kinds of eggs were a nice balance to the salty meats, being just right and not oddly flavored. As a big plus, everything came at nearly the same time so that we could quickly enjoy our meal and get some photo ops of the food. I've gotten plenty other dishes and drinks here like their bun rieu (good for those who like pork blood in theirs), che 3 mau (don't recommend, though it's not on their menu anymore), and their com suon bo (grilled beef short ribs broken rice, one of the best). I still have yet to have their banh mi despite several foodies and influencers saying how much better it is compared to nearly every other offering in the Seattle area, so that's probably my next thing to order when I do come back. I'm adding this place to a list of restaurants to take both local friends and visitors to Seattle alike!

I'm glad to say that I've checked Billiard Hoang off my bucket list - it's been on my bucket list for multiple years since we moved to Seattle. I met several Vietnamese fishermen on the piers of Seattle, and many of them recommended Billiard Hoang as a solid establishment to get some delicious food. If the old Vietnamese souls on the piers are recommending this place, that's gotta be a good sign. And it definitely paid off. My wife and I visited on a Saturday morning, and it was pretty empty (granted, it was still pretty early in the morning). Half of the building served as a restaurant. The other half, as the name implies, was a billiard hall, which added a unique vibe to the ambiance. I was stumped with the menu - everything looked so good! My wife got the pho and I got the vermicelli noodles. Both dishes were excellent and hit the spot - a great meal to warm our bodies and souls up on a windy day. The portion sizes were generous, and I felt satisfied. The vermicelli dish could use a bit more fish sauce, but it was nice that they had fish sauce already at the table if you wanted to add more. Overall, a very solid joint for your Vietnamese fix. I can easily say this place surpasses a lot of other Vietnamese restaurants in north Seattle, both in quality and quantity. Definitely a solid place for quality food if you're ever in south Seattle!

From the outside, this restaurant looks like an old school ran down pool hall. What you wouldn't expect is that this is actually one of the best Vietnamese restaurants in Seattle. The second you walk in, you will feel transported to a completely new place. One half is dedicated to pool and billiards while the other is an welcoming sit down restaurant with paintings and flowers. With the combination of dimmed lights with the neon strip above the bar, Billiard Hoang provides a laid back and inviting atmosphere; a perfect place to play a round of pool and enjoy cold drinks. The most surprising thing beyond ambiance was the food. I never would've expected a place like this to be serving what I see as the best Vietnamese food in Seattle. Recently, vermicelli noodle bowls have been my favorite dishes to order at Vietnamese restaurants, and Billiard Hoang does not disappoint. I ordered one with grilled pork with the addition of an egg roll. Freshly fried, the egg roll comes out piping hot, with an array of fresh vegetables atop a bed of soft and delicious vermicelli noodles. After adding the side of nuoc cham sauce, you get a perfectly balanced bowl that has it all. The dish that impressed me the most was the 5-spice roasted chicken. This is a rice plate that features a red fried rice. The chicken was extremely moist and juicy while having perfectly crunchy skin, complimented by a slightly crunchy and aromatic fried rice on the side. Together, these made for a yummy chicken rice plate that I would absolutely come back for. Although simple, this dish makes for a quick and easy bite that would be perfect to go after a long day of work. With a vast menu, there are still a lot of things I would like to taste. We didn't get any of the noodle soups, but based on my recent experience, I would love to come back and try! And for Seattle prices, it is rare to see that everything on the menu comes in under 20 dollars. But portions are still sizable and plenty to fill you up. If you are ever looking for delicious Vietnamese comfort food for a good price, Billiard Hoang is an amazing option.

Based off of the looks of this place on the outside, you'd never expect the inside to look the way it does. It's definitely a place where older Vietnamese men come to play pool and have drinks, but on the other side of the building there is a lot of tables and seating for dining in as well. We ordered spring rolls and separately two different pho's and everything was pretty good. I'd rate the Spring Rolls a 4/5 and the pho a 4.5/5. My local pho place in Chicago puts out a better pho bowl than this one so I always use that one as a comparison, but overall we did enjoy our experience here and the staff was super friendly. They also kept refilling our water too which was greatly appreciated.

My husband and I have been ordering banh mi from here for years but for some reason we've never ordered a rice dish or a noodle salad before. Last week, we decided to get the beef with rice dish and the noodle salad with pork and they were both yummy! Our friends also loved their rice dishes! Oh and don't forget about the avocado smoothie! Just the perfect consistency and sweetness! There's a bunch of pool tables there as well if you wanna shoot pool and hang out with friends.

You cannot go wrong with this Vietnamese spot. Don't let the exterior fool you, this restaurant has some of the best Vietnamese food in the area. The restaurant is self-seating. It is worth noting that there is a 3% credit card fee, so don't forget to get some cash handy. Food: Pho: we got the Pho Special. The broth was delicious and done just right. It is super comforting for a cold day. Banh mi: we got the grilled pork banh mi. The bread is airy, crisp but not hard to bite into. The filling is balanced with the right amount of meats, spread and pickled vegetable. Bonus tip: get both the Pho and banh mi, and dip the banh mi in the broth. It is so good! Fish sauce chicken wings: so crispy and so flavourful, it blew our mind. The staff noted us that there is about 20-minute wait on the wings, so it arrived a little later than other menu items. But it is so worth the wait! Avocado smoothie: super dense and sweet, perfect for a sweat treat post-dinner. Service: no issue with the service. Food arrived fast and staff were nice during our interaction.

There unfortunately aren't too many good pho restaurants in the Seattle area - I have been on the lookout for more pho options, and I am glad I found Billiard Hoang! We went on a Friday around 6PM and were seated immediately. Billiard Hoang is located alongside a busy street, so you will need to note where to turn when you are visiting for the first time. We were able to find adequate parking right at the front of the restaurant, but I can see it getting crowded during peak hours. The restaurant as others have mentioned is dim/dark lighting with three pool tables taking up the left side of the restaurant when you first walk in. There are plenty of seats (probably 20-35 people can be seated based on what seats I can see). Service is decent, we placed our orders with the waiter and got them within 10 minutes. I got the Pho Dac Biet ($16), which was the combination pho with steak, meatballs, tripe, and tendon. If you are looking to try all of the different cuts of pho options here, this would be the go to. I think based on the pho that I have tried so far in the Seattle area, Billiard Hoang is definitely more flavorful. One thing I like is that they have a base level of seasoning that would appeal to most people's tastes, and fish sauce nearby to flavor the pho to your liking. The broth is flavorful and has good depth to it, you can taste the aromatics and is pleasing to drink. There is a decent amount of meat and noodles in the bowl, and I can see it paired with a small appetizer to fill most people up. I think that Billiard Hoang is one of the better pho places that I have tried in Seattle so far. In comparison to other pho restaurants, you get much better quality, although the quantity is still approximately the same. If I am ever in the mood for some quick and delicious pho and some pool, I would definitely revisit Billiard Hoang (4.5 stars)

    Bun Bo Hue (rating: 5/5)

My friend had recommended Billiard Hoang to me many times but we never had a chance to check it out. Finally we came to the area for a birthday party and stumbled upon the restaurant. It was extremely unassuming from the outside, even a bit sketch LOL. The inside was divided into pool table area and dining area. We got a Bun Bo Hue and a vermicelli bowl, both were very delicious. Their Bun Bo Hue was probably my favorite in the Seattle area. Price was higher than we expected for the area - cheaper than Seattle city but not that much cheaper, but still good for the quality and portion you get. Service was okay, but that's not something we care about much anyways, especially for a casual restaurant like Billiard Hoang.

A-ma-zing is all I can say. I eat a lot of Viet food and when your Viet friends recommend a place, you know it's gonna be legit. Don't let the outside fool you, don't skip it cause it's in the hood. Make a trip here for your Viet food fix. The pho is good...the rice dishes are bomb, and you can play some pool with your friends. I miss coming in here regularly. If I lived in Seattle, I'd stop in weekly. Super good eats.

The bahn mis here were really good! The server was very helpful with answering questions. They made sure of what I meant which was really helpful too. The space is kind of interesting with pool tables on one side and bar type seating on the other but I'd definitely come here again for take out or stay and try the pho. They even gave us a free donut!

Can underage people play pool or is that 21+?

Unfortunately, it's 21 and over only.

Do they have a full bar, or just serve wine and beer?

    Just beer!

Is this place good for kids?

My son is 5 and he loves it. Nobody smoke indoors and the food area is separated from the pool hall. People who play pool here are nice folks as well

From the most prized (foie gras) to the more normal (frog legs) to the odd (beef liver). And there was what I had - the rabbit kidneys on toast. I love the inventiveness of this place. It's so easy to just serve the same cuts of meats everyone else does - the prized, fatty parts of each animal and call it a day. But when there's a place that decides to dive deep (literally) into an animal and produce its organs and put that on a plate for you, it's just very cool. When you see a rabbit kidneys on toast dish on the menu - you can't not order it. The dish was pretty much exactly what you would expect - a bunch of rabbit kidneys on a slice of toast, over a cream sherry sauce. I had no idea what to expect in terms of kidneys, but these actually tasted quite normal. The best way to describe them is they had the texture and shape of larger beans, but had a bit of a meaty taste to them. Nothing over the top in terms of flavor or anything - just solid. They seemed to have been grilled. There were also a good amount on the piece of toast. The piece of sourdough bread it came on was quite good. The edges were crispy, and certain parts were perfectly lightly charred without being too burnt. The best part was the inside - which was super soft. What really tied this all together though, was the cream sherry sauce. This was outstanding. Certain parts were above the bread but a lot of it was below, and just tasting it I was blown away by its richness. It was on the sweeter side, but complemented everything so well. The way it soaks the inside of the bread is perfection - eating that was my favorite part. For dessert I got the foie gras ice cream. This was also really damn good. When two very fatty things come together, you'd expect there to be a full blast of flavor, but this was actually milder than I expected. It's still slightly salty, and very rich, but the added wine helps make it a more normal dish. I could still absolutely have a full scoop of this though. The one thing to know here is the portions are VERY small. The rabbit kidneys on toast dish is literally a single slice of bread with about 10 or so kidneys on top. The foie gras ice cream is truly miniscule - it's the smallest ice cream you've ever seen. The server did recommend 2-3 small plates per person, but I didn't particularly feel like paying a ton this night. If you were to come with someone (don't recommend groups here - the seating is very small), I'd say you could share a bunch of plates and feel pretty happy though. I wanted to give a shoutout that this place has the price inclusive of tipping. It's just so rare to see that, and absolutely wonderful when it occurs. I ended up paying around 38 for my two dishes. Overall, while not quite truly special, this place serves inventive, delicious mini-dishes that are certainly worth a try. 9/10
