I'm glad I finally got to try Reckless Noodle! I don't find myself outside the main Seattle areas often, but Reckless Noodle was definitely worth the venture. The staff were all so welcoming and friendly, and even though their kitchen was backed up with orders, they did their best to serve us quickly and the food was still top notch. The marine-like atmosphere was also fun and made dinner really casual and enjoyable. We got some of the best sellers, the bo la lot, the ma la beef cheek noodles, and the Hokkien wok noodles, and they were all a hit. I enjoyed the different Asian-fusion dishes they had from different cultures as well as their wide selection of drinks. The dishes were all very rich and flavorful, and you get a good amount to share for the price. It was the perfect place to eat while chatting and catching up with a friend. Well played! The four of us used the waitlist process to get a table and it worked flawlessly. We encountered very friendly staff upon arrival/seating. As mentioned in other reviews, we also experienced a unique and relaxed atmosphere. They had some good local draft options to get started - which is good. We ordered the Bo La Lot Grilled Beed in Betel Leaf for an appetizer and we loved the combination of ingredients and taste. Our brides ordered the Chaca La Vong Wok Seared Tumeric Rockfish and they both enjoyed it. My son ordered the Pad Kee Mao and I went with the Reckless Fried Rice and we both devoured them! Very attentive staff and cool decor inside. Had to wait for my whole party to be seated but had a beer at the bar which helps the time pass. The menu is pretty out there but the flavors on everything were excellent. I tried some of my aunts green beans and I can definitely say they were the best Ive ever had. So much flavor for something I'd usually never get as an app. I went with the five spice duck confit, which comes with a duck leg and thigh. Everything was delicious, noodles, bok choy, and the broth was killer. I drained it after I ate everything. Staff was really great and helpful, we had a kid in our party and they had no problem making a spiced up order of their kids noodles. Usually hipster restaurants are quirky and the staff is nice. This had neither, the food was oily and unoriginal. We had asked for no protein for one of the noodle dishes and the waitress, who had been rude since she sat us down, wouldn't allow that? We needed to add something so ended up with extra vegetables with over took the plate. My guess is they weren't giving enough noodle to make a complete dish. The restaurant is pretty busy but in a suffocating kind of way. They have people speed walking around and yet no one can let you know if your table is ready. We dropped by Reckless Noodle on a Friday with two friends. We used the Q app to make sure we were on their waitlist in the event it was super busy. Service was very attentive and upbeat the minute were inside Once we were in we started things off right with some cocktails and starters. I enjoyed the barrel aged Manhattan and the table shared the roast duck crispy rolls. For the main all I had ever heard about were these beef cheek noodles so I had to try it and honestly no notes- the noodles were chewy the beef cheek tender and the spice was hot and numbing. I guess this is what we'd call gentrified asian food. The type of thing my parents would scoff at but I'm always curious to try when I see. I always wonder "how do they 'elevate' these dishes?", or "is there anything creative that sets this apart/is a fun fusion concept?". So we got the papaya salad: good, same as other papaya salads except 0% spicy in stark contrast to other salads which are somehow always the spiciest part of the meal. We also got the wok seared tumerick rockfish: the fish was great but i think it works alone better than it does with the noodles, they felt really distinct to me and I didn't necessarily eat them them together. Also I learned that i really like dill with fish. That was delightful. The beef cheek soup: was good. Great quality, very well thought through, you can tell there was a lot of intention in the dish. A fantastic spot! I've been wanting to try this spot for a while, and finally got the chance to for their Seattle Restaurant Week menu. We put ourselves on the waitlist ahead of time so were able to get seated right when we arrived. For the special menu it was three courses - to start, we got the lobster bao, duck crispy roll, and grilled beef appetizers. They were small, but all pretty good! For our entrees we got the mala beef cheek noodle, hokkien wok noodle, and duck noodle soup. All three were fantastic - I loved the tenderness of the beef and the savoriness of the hokkien wok noodles! Finally for dessert, the vietnamese coffee creme brulee was spectacular and so unique, I've never had something like it! The service at this hip restaurant is great! There was a shift change in between our visit here and they handled it seamlessly. I appreciated how attentive and knowledgeable they were about the menu. I felt that the papaya salad left more to be desired. It was fresh but I felt it was lacking some flavor. The duck rolls were tasty but quite oily. I very much enjoyed my tumeric rock fish, it was a light dish considering there were noodles. All of the herbs added to the freshness and lightness of the dish. If I had one critique it would be that I would've loved a touch of spice or a side of a spicy sauce to add to the dish. My friend had the Ma La braised beef noodles. She's been to the restaurant a few times and she says it's her favorite. I'm assuming so since I only got a single bite! The beef was very tender and the noodles were fat and tasty. My friends and I stopped by Reckless Noodles this past Wednesday evening at around 7pm as we were in the area for trivia. I remember a coworker had recommended the place and so I wanted to give it a try. Unfortunately, we forget it was Seattle Plate Week (formerly Seattle Restaurant Week) and so the place was packed and the wait was over an hour. We thus put our name on the wait list and walked over to the Dog Yard Bar while we waited. Interesting enough, the Dog Yard Bar had a link on their menu to order from Reckless Noodles since Dog Yard doesn't serve food. We therefore placed our orders online for pickup at 8:15pm. However, when we walked over at 8:15pm, they had just put our orders into the kitchen and so it was another 20 minutes until we got our food. The server was apologetic and gave us some complimentary shrimp chips and salted peanuts for our patience. I ordered their signature MA LA BRAISED BEEF CHEEK NOODLE. Basically, the dish was udon in a spicy Sichuan kimchi sauce with marinated beef. The sauce definitely leaves your tongue and lips tingling by the end of it from the Sichuan pepper. The beef was tender and well-marinated. Portion sizes were on the smaller side for $23 (plus tax, tip, and to go fee which brought it up to about $28). It was tasty, but for a cup and a half of noodles and a few pieces of beef, the prices are definitely steep for what you get. The atmosphere is pretty cool (did I mention they have a neon "Live Noods" sign at the entrance!?) and I would come back for drinks, but unfortunately we did not get to enjoy the atmosphere this time. They have a social seating arrangement with two seating areas - a main bar with high tops and a separate back area with group seating. For our appetizer we ordered the wings and they came with wet wipes. Just a fair warning, the wings are made with fish sauce so our fingers smelled weird after But a soapy handwash helped it go away. My partner & are were not huge fans of the duck, I found the texture and taste to be flat. The soup was doing most of the work. Beef cheek Curry - so delicious!! Omg... The spicy sauce and wontons were a great combination. - Bao - The Bao was delicious, the outside was soft and the inside was juicy and was a great combination with the sauce. - Vegetarian Hokkien Wok Noodle - This was alright, I found it a little bit on the blander side, but combined with the hot sauce, it was delicious - Field Green Fried Rice - The fried rice was delicious and I really like the kale addition. I tried their restaurant week menu and from that experience, I'd definitely recommend having a reservation for Saturday nights. The parking situation isn't too bad; if you're struggling with street parking, there's a CVS down the street with a huge lot. Highlights: - Crispy Saigon Caramelized Prawns (4.5/5): Superb (but expensive at full price). The shrimp were perfectly cooked and the crust has a super satisfying, hard crunch. The sauce is savory, tangy, and sweet - just everything you want as an appetizer. - Viet Coffee Creme Brulee (4.25/5): Strong coffee flavor and fantastic balance between bitter and sweet. I thought the top could have been bruleed a little more, but a top notch dessert - Mala Braised Beef Cheek Noodle (4/5): The beef cheek is super fatty and tender. The restaurant is extremely dimly lit and we were sat at a small high top "community" table in between two other couples who were both speaking quite loud...not off to a great start. The stools were uncomfortable and I couldn't figure out where to put my wet rain jacket and purse. When the server came I had to crane my neck back to speak with her, all while squinting at the menu and trying to avoid colliding with the person next to me. It was all a bit...uncomfortable. The cocktails I ordered were great. The green bean appetizer and wings were both fine. The green beans seemed like they'd been cooked too long - they were no longer crisp. The wings sit in a sticky, sweet sauce, wing and leg still attached. They were a bit stiff, and I found the sauce more annoying than anything. I immediately had to go wash my hands when I'd finished with the appetizer. I wasn't impressed with either. The curry vermicelli bowl was okay. It sounded delicious but I ended up wishing I'd ordered something else. Both my main dish and my dining companion's were far spicier than we expected them to be. Came here for dinner on a Monday night around 7:30pm and there was no wait for a table outside. The patio was lovely on a warm day; it felt private enough from the street to not be bothered by road noise and breezy enough to not feel too hot on a day that had hit 90F. It was a solid spot for a date night with good food, good music, and attentive service. We got a recommendation from the staff for the turmeric rockfish and the beef cheek noodles (which are also a yelp favorite), and that's what we ordered. We were worried that the portions might be small, but once we'd eaten, it felt like the right amount of food / I probably overate a little. The rockfish is an expensive (compared to Viet run restaurants) version of the Hanoi Chả Cá Lã Vọng, but very, very well executed. The herbs were fresh, clean, and perfectly proportioned. The sauce is more of a lime sauce than a classic sweetened fish sauce, but it worked to cut the unctuousness of the coconut sauce on the noodles. A fun and delicious dish. The beef cheek noodles are solid. I wish there was more bright vegetables or something crunchy to cut through the dense protein-y oily sauce, but the dish is delicious, not too spicy, but still flavorful. As a lover of Lao Gan Ma, this is different, similar level of tasty. I'd be happy to come back. Street parking was easy. I love their beachy interior design as well. To start, I'd absolutely recommend the Mù Xū roast duck crispy rolls and lobster Bao - might be my favorite bao at the moment. Their Rebel Without A Cause, Vietnamese coffee crème brûlée and tamarind seafood udon are amazing! I usually go with the Ma La braised beef cheek noodles and add garlicky baby bok choy or charred kale and it is awesome. Big appreciation goes to the exceptional servers and bartenders: They are always super welcoming, attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. I find it really refreshing for Seattle.
