Impressed with this place more than any other wine and liquor tasting in the Malibu area. Customer service is totally on point.

I got my free birthday donut here (sign-up and add your birthday in the app) and I got the Celebration Cake donut. The donut was sweet with a crispy glazed exterior and a soft and fluffy interior. It was also still slightly warm which I liked since it gave me the impression that this was freshly made. It did get a bit too sweet for me towards finishing the donut, so eating half at a time is honestly good enough. This is more of a grab-n-go type of spot, but I think they have some outdoor seating in front of the store. There's also parking which Sidecar can validate. I would highly recommend this chain and it's one of my spots I take visitors to. Also, if you download the app you can get a free drink and donut for your first time :)

I found their donuts to be stale and no fancy type is going to correct that. The place is super cute and very clean. The staff is fine, nothing to write home about. They really don't see too interested in the customers. But they are okay. Parking is pretty easy. What they do make well is coffee. I love dark black coffee and they have that and more and it is very good. Their prices are high-- I think too high. They do have a decent selection on hand. I would go there for coffee, but I won't bother with their donuts anymore. I really hope they work on making sure all donuts are fresh. Their cornbread is good. I have a friend who wanted to try them so we went back and I still found them stale tasting, but great coffee.

Being a former Westside resident, I was happy to make the drive from the Valley (through 405…read moreconstruction) because Sidecar's quality has always been worth it. My little one and I turned it into a low-stakes nighttime adventure. The $7 deal for $21 worth of donuts felt like a win before it even started. What followed was one of the most dismissive, discriminatory customer experiences I've had in recent memory. The store closes at 9:00 p.m. The Too Good To Go pickup window is 9:05-9:25 p.m. -- a window the store agrees to when they list on the app. So when we arrived and the doors were locked, fine. What is NOT fine is what happened next. For five solid minutes, my child and I banged on the windows, danced in front of the door, and shined a flashlight directly at the staff inside. The woman cleaning the donut counter? Never looked up. The man moving racks in the back? Never looked up. We were invisible. Deliberately so. The entire storefront is a giant glass window. There is no universe in which trained staff, aware that pickup orders are coming, cannot see two people making that level of noise and effort to be acknowledged. They saw us. They chose not to respond. Only one employee -- the man at the coffee machine -- finally waved us over. When I asked him directly: *did you not hear us for five minutes?* His response: "No, we didn't see you guys." Unbelievable. I was frustrated, but I was willing to move past it. Until I watched what happened next. Two young women arrived to pick up their order. The staff member waved them over to the window *immediately*. No banging. No flashlight. No five minutes of being ignored. Just instant, warm acknowledgment. That was the moment I couldn't rationalize it away anymore. The staff were selectively choosing who deserved their attention -- and my child and I, older and visibly different from those women, did not make the cut. That is not a service failure. That is discrimination. And it happened in front of my kid. The Too Good To Go app deserves some blame here too -- there were zero pickup instructions, which made a confusing situation worse. But the store knows orders are coming. They see them in the system. The choice to ignore us was exactly that -- a choice. The donuts were good. We ate them the next morning, not yet stale. Under any other circumstances, that would be the headline. Instead, I'm left wondering whether the staff were hoping we'd give up and leave so they could keep our order. I have been a vocal advocate for Sidecar to everyone I know. After this, I am prone to never return -- and I'll be just as vocal about why. Sidecar Culver City, do better. All of your customers deserve to be seen.

If you like blueberry donuts, get this one. Butter & Salt is the perfect sweet+salty donut with a brown butter glaze. Maple Bacon is one of the few raised yeast donuts and the sweet+savory combo is the best! The Apple Fritter is really good, but only available on Fridays. I highly recommend trying at least one of their seasonal donuts too. They are very unique and delicious. What I recently discovered is that their coffee is quite good and reasonably priced for the Manhattan Beach area. If you still can't decide what to purchase, the staff is always very nice and helpful. They always seem to be in a really good mood. The donuts are presented in nice, branded boxes if you purchase 3 or more. The store is located in the Manhattan Village, right near the entrance, so there is plenty of parking. Definitely check it out!

I also really like how there are samples if you go in the morning which has persuaded me to try some new flavors I wouldn't have gotten. Yes its a bit pricey, but definitely worth it as the taste is amazing. My only feedback is on Too Good to Go orders. PLEASE allow there to be a separate non-meat/vegetarian option. Since if you order through the app, sometimes they may have a maple bacon donut which I don't eat meat so anything that donut is touching I also throw out which is a waste.

The other top notch meal was the braised lamb which was the house special. Large portion and complex with delicious flavors. The fried chicken waffles are stacked tall and is a tower of crispiness. I'd argue it was the same for some people going inside to stand and watch. We left on the first water break to go back home and watch the game. I just wanted to actually see the ball and the players. Mind you we saw the Mexico v England game here, but it was inside, next to some wonderful Mexico fans. Screen clearly visible. Service always fantastic. All that's good. This patio experience was the polar opposite for not actually having a visible screen.
