Didn't feel like driving into town for my birthday (the big party was planned for another day in Marina Del Rey), so we decided to keep it simple and have a nice, quiet early dinner at the speakeasy at Sidecar. I've always been curious about this spot, and to my surprise, it's actually Santa Clarita's very first speakeasy... how cool is that? We've been loyal fans of their sister restaurant next door for years ...it's our go-to for breakfast, brunch, or dinner ... so trying Sidecar felt like the perfect next step. And wow... what a great choice! The cocktails were excellent. They made my Old Fashioned exactly the way I like it, and my partner loved their gin and tonics. The servers were absolutely wonderful (I feel so bad I forgot their names!) and made the evening feel extra special. The vibe is warm, cozy, and stylish ... perfect for a relaxed night out. Honestly, it was such a sweet way to kick off my birthday celebrations. We'll definitely be back again soon!

Whipped Feta, olives, the signature, dirty martini

Ambiance 3/5 - without showing pictures of the inside and ruining the speakeasy mystery, you enter the place through a store front. The store front sells hand made knives, lighters and art. Its a very small store front, but personally it sets the tone before entering. What gives this a 3/5 stars is the art work. Think of the Ed Hardy era that never left, the art on the walls looked like pictures you took for Instagram and saturated them with multiple filters. This is a complete 180 from that actually bar itself; very elegant/ old school. Service 3/5 - Very friendly service, but came around only before you placed your order and after you were done with your meal. We ordered a extra dry dirty martini and our server asked if we wanted regular olives or stuffed blue cheese olives so we chose the blue cheese ones. I don't think it was conveyed correctly to bartender, since the martini was very vermouth forward and the olives were the wrong ones. Food/ Drink 2/5 - The olives were an interesting twist from the regular salty ones you usually get. These were sweet and had a nice spice to them. The whipped feta was underwhelming. Best way to describe it was the flavor was there with the tapenade and the tomatoes, but the texture of a "whipped" feta was not it was flat and runny. It was served with with regular store bought bread. Note to the owners: this dish would make a killing if you get the texture right, and instead serve it with the focaccia you have on the menu. The ragu was good but I could pass on it, as we said while eating it "it's an elevated Chef Boyardee". The signature was the only part of our meal that I would say I would get again, it was a great balance of bitters and sweetness to the bourbon and having the coaster sit on top of the smoked drink while it arrives gives it a good presentation. This place leaves a lot to be desired. It being one if not the only speak easy in Santa Clarita makes it stand out, but once the novelty of that fades, you're left with an overpriced lackluster meal.

Showed up on a last minute whim and they were able to seat us despite not having reservations. We were seated at the bar which we were ok with. The space is small and intimate, perfect for a date night. We started the evening with some drinks, my husband ordered The Manhattan and I ordered the Cali 75. The Manhattan was pretty strong and the Cali 75 was excellent. As an appetizer we ordered the meatballs with focaccia bread - this was so good and I highly recommend it! As our main entree my husband ordered the special, which was grilled shrimp on top of some hummus, he said it was light and tasty and thoroughly enjoyed it. I ordered the kimchi rigatoni and it was delicious. To end the night we shared the chocolate mousse pie - which was simple but delicious! If you're looking for a date night spot in the Santa Clarita area check this spot out - it's worth your time!

Came to Sidecar for the first time over the weekend and I can't stop telling everyone about it. The drinks were absolutely beautiful and delicious ..both people I came with loved theirs too. We ordered a few snacks and every single one was a 10/10. Such a cute spot with great vibes, and I already can't wait to go back!

I think this is the only 1 speakeasies in Newhall. It is located right at the old town Junction restaurant. It has 2 entrances. One through the restaurant and other one from Main Street. Drinks were excellent. The olives was good too. Highlight was the saxophone . Overall a nice place to grab quick drink. We tried the black manhattan , olives , cheesecake , Lychee Martini. Everything was great.

Didn't expect to be dropping by this speakeasy but my bf and our friends were doing a bar hopping night and I happened to tag along at the end of this one. This is located along Main Street in Santa Clarita, beautiful strip and highly recommend visiting. They don't have a big flashy sign outside and they have a tiny little itty bitty sign on their door. From the outside, it honestly just looked like some kind of office front with a receptionist selling real estate or something. The door has to be opened by the front lady, I waited there till she did. The door to the actual bar is hidden and she pushes a button to let you in. Going inside felt like a super secret hideout lol. Super small inside but still really nice and fancy. Honestly we all felt out of place but from what I can tell, their food and drinks are pretty and good but overpriced. I had a bit of whatever cobbler was left but I wasn't feeling it so I didn't eat much. The bartender brought me water immediately as soon as I sat down. I didn't order anything since we were basically about to head out to the next spot anyway but I may want to try it next time! They also have doors around that basically lock you in and a staff member has to press a button to open it for you, even to the restrooms. Seemed a bit much, especially since leaving the restroom requires you to wait for staff to open as well. I remember seeing a lady just standing there waiting to exit the restrooms lol! So odd. Very interesting vibe but seemed more of a hassle if anything. IG: @ammysalamii

We came here to celebrate a family member's birthday, and had an excellent time! Entering the restaurant is so fun. When you walk in, it appears as a shop of sorts with knives and art for sale. You are then guided through a door in the back and walk into a dimly lit restaurant. The vibe is moody and modern and fits with the secretive aspect of it. The service was fantastic and our waitress checked in very consistently. We ordered dishes and shared family style, and I would recommend this because you can try more this way. Everything I ate was fantastic. I especially loved the scallops, kimchi steak dish, and the macaroni and cheese. But truly, I don't think you can order something here and not like it. Their flavors and presentation were on point, and definitely match up with the price point. They also have some fun cocktails and mocktails, I tried a lychee drink which was delicious. We will be returning here for sure!

Love, love, love this place. I can't wait for my next date night to come back. The food was so delicious and high quality - worth the penny. The bartenders are skilled and make excellent cocktails too. My favorite part is the live pianist playing in the background - all of it together makes you feel like you're in another time and place.

We've been here before, and were really excited that we were able to walk in and sit at the bar last night. Very dark and moody and has a great speakeasy aesthetic, loved that there were Christmas decorations throughout the room, but not overdone. We ordered a signature cocktail off the menu and I got a dirty martini. We love their glassware and the drinks were delicious. We did not eat this time because the prices are pretty high for drinks and food. The service was quick and attentive and we love this little upscale spot on Main Street.

Ambiance is amazing! Friendly bar staff. The vintage drink glasses are very cool. Nice place to stop for a night cap or with a small group for some spirits .

A speakeasy this cozy is perfect for date night! The evening I visited there was live music and it was packed. Without a reservation I had to wait over an hour, so don't be like me and RSVP! I enjoyed the food but my only complaint was that everything I tried was very sweet. The olives were a great starter and the charcuterie was a nice portion to share but literally all of the savory dishes, even the grilled cheese, had a good bit of sweetness to it (more than a touch). I would say to be mindful of that when ordering, but it was definitely a good time!

Royal Gimlet (with lemon instead of lime)
    Laura G.

I came here opening night not knowing what it was - they were kind enough to get me in however I had to leave in 45 minutes as it was booked solid. Loved it, bringing a little Speakeasy to main street. Went again last night - great vibe and I love having real mixologists in town. I put my trust in the mixologist, telling her what I like. She made me a fabulous take on a Royal Gimlet (but with lemon). Really good. As far as folks saying it's overpriced, it's a few bucks more than a cocktail anywhere else. Bravo!

Lovely spot for drinks and dinner in Santa Clarita…read more I was in the area running errands and decided to grab dinner nearby on a Thusday evening around 6:30 pm. I found this place on Yelp and dropped by for dinner. My party of 2 was seated immediately. Personally I thought the menus were hard to read. The gray lines in the background were quite dark and clashed with the actual menu items. My suggestion to the restaurant would be to reprint the menus with lighter background. They have an extensive cocktail menu with a lot of gin-based drinks. They also have good selection of wine and NA drinks as well, including some mocktails. I got the I'm Driving mocktail ($13), which I really liked. It had good passion fruit flavor without being too sour. Felt like a really nice tropical juice. My friend really liked his drink Bramblin' Man ($17), which had strong notes of bourbon and blackberry. I wasn't super hungry, but the braised short rib looked amazing so I got that for $43. It was very tender, but I personally found it bland especially on the inside. I asked for additional sauce so I could drench each bite in the sauce. My favorite part of the plate was surprisingly the potato croquette, which was perfectly crispy and well flavored. My friend got the chicken club ($23), which he enjoyed. I stole a bunch of his seasoned fries since they were so good. I would've loved to get dessert but was too stuffed. Next time!

We expect a certain standard, a level of care that borders on obsession. So when I catch Evan Williams--respectable, questionable, but barely twelve bucks a bottle--making an appearance behind the bar, it feels like a breach of trust. A quiet betrayal under low lighting. The illusion only works if the details hold up under scrutiny... and that pour? It broke the spell. And then comes the real offense: discovering that your Old Fashioned--the crown jewel of any respectable cocktail program--are built on bottom-shelf, dust-collecting bourbon. That's not just a letdown, it's a slap in the face. A cocktail like that deserves reverence, not shortcuts. And as if to twist the knife, there it was--a massive can of red maraschino cherries sitting shamelessly atop the bar, like some relic from a dive that's given up on finesse. It wasn't just a misstep. It was disrespect. In a place claiming the speakeasy mantle, details like these matter. They're the difference between theater and parody. The cocktails did not warrant the $15 price tag. Moreover, I would have paid more had I know the class of bourbon upfront. What ultimately redeems the space is its ambiance. The low flicker of the fireplace, the soft embrace of worn leather sofas, the curated hum of music floating just above conversation--it's seductive, even soulful. The room itself is small, intimate--the kind of place where you're bound to recognize a face, or at the very least, feel inclined to invite a stranger to share the sofa and maybe a story. And then there's the setting--tucked beneath a historic relic, a basement bar built into the bones of old Americana. The building dates back to the early 1900s, echoing with a past that deserves to be honored, not phoned in. That's exactly why I expected more from the cocktails. A place with this much atmosphere shouldn't fall flat when it comes to what's in the glass. It's a mismatch--a beautiful stage, but a script that doesn't quite rise to meet it.

When we were finally able to have a phone call with Scott, I couldn't get one word in the entire time he was mansplaining the world of business. He was very patronizing & I swallowed my pride because we just wanted a resolve & to not lose the deposit. I asked very clearly whether he was going to uphold our agreement. He did, but under the condition that we pay the remainder of our balance upfront in good faith to them. We did & that was that. Thereafter, it was back & forth whether Chris would still be working our event which Scott said he was. Chris was the saving grace of Blush in our opinion. Customer service & how you treat people is king, so it put our hearts at ease. But not for long, since it was changed later to Jin. Getting Jin to respond was difficult. We requested a final walk through with our coordinator about a month before our event. Jin told us he wasn't feeling well & wasn't present for most of the walk through. So we asked questions via email instead. I specifically mentioned a clean facility is important to us. The place just wasn't as polished as we first saw it. He was responsive only after I'd send text follow ups. The week of, not at all. I was waiting on confirmation about our drink selection which I never got & we just hoped it would all work out the day of. Day of our coordinator arrived first. The bathrooms were clean but the bar, cocktail tables, mirror hallway, & front door were full of fingerprints and sticky as if not cleaned from a previous event. We were told there would be 2 staff & that they'd be able to help us move cocktail tables. We weren't aware one of those people would be Jin & he wasn't helpful at all. He completely ignored our coordinator & aunt, but jumped to help our DJ with the sound system. We can only conclude it's because our DJ is a man & as a same sex female couple that leaves such a bad taste in our mouths. Our coordinator & aunt ended up cleaning everything with the one rag & spray bottle he gave after we repeated asked. Coordinator, wife, son, & I moved the heavy tables/ottomans. The drinks didn't taste like our selections. But the worst part was that he started charging our guests upon arrival. My wife & I stepped away to change our clothes. We were there 1.5hrs before start time & Jin never approached us or our coordinator for our card. He also had our itinerary ahead of time and met our coordinator. FYI on top of booking fees, you're also required to use their bar service for ALL drinks alcohol/nonalcohol which is included info on Peerspace. We agreed we'd cover the required minimum of $2500 & once we reached that amount it would turn into a cash bar. Our guests approached us confused about the bar so my wife personally went to Jin & asked why people were being charged, to which he responded "I couldn't find you guys." They immediately include their tip, which we weren't aware of, so drinks totaled to about $2100 w/ the remainder being tax/tip. They continuously ran out of cups & had zero cups for the water dispensers. We were refilling used water bottles to give to the kids. My aunt & cousin were busing tables. Bartenders didn't care to stay quiet or hold drink orders during vows. Every video we have of our vows is them shaking drinks & slamming glassware. There were good things too, kinda. It wasn't communicated to us that the front bathroom was for staff only & we had a outfit change planned, so after first saying no, Jin ended up letting my wife & I use the front bathroom. Also him assisting our DJ resulted in the music going well. It's sadly overshadowed by all the other things that needed improvement. It comes down to a lack of customer service & professional decorum, because the venue itself is beautiful. We gave a final 3 STARS because everything came together. Those missing components are just so vital. A work day for them is literally someone else's most important day that they're choosing and paying to celebrate at Blush.

That's exactly how I describe my experience at Oak and Iron! You can tell that you're experiencing a work of art and a person's labor of love. Erika was our host and she was phenomenal! I'm definitely looking forward to my next experience at Oak and Iron!

The vibe is industrial and low-lit, like the kind of bar where the walls have stories but won't snitch. Small space, metal-and-concrete aesthetic, but somehow still warm and cozy. Perfect for a date night or a "let me mentally unpack my life over cocktails" hang with my best friend. What keeps me coming back? The bartenders actually listen. I can walk up and give the vaguest description -- "classic but not sweet, strong but not too whiskey-forward, smooth but still gives main character energy" -- and they'll just... create it. They've made me drinks that aren't even on the menu -- Army Navy, Aviation, etc. -- and every single one was spot on. They always manage to find the right drink for me, which is honestly a skill more people should have. The servers are genuinely nice, the liquor selection is solid, and the energy is chill without being pretentious. I've also heard there's a speakeasy hidden in here somewhere, and trust me, one day I'll find it like I'm unlocking a side quest. Definitely one of my favorite bars in Thousand Oaks -- industrial vibes, great people, and bartenders who match drinks to my personality better than most men can.

On a friend's recommendation, my wife and I went to Kindred Spirits for an early dinner/hang-out…read more They are located on a great little street in a mixed shopping/business/residential area local to us. They have a nice interior build-out with a huge wine bar, but it was a nice evening and we elected to sit on their spacious patio. Upon entering, we were immediately greeted by Sarah, who is the bartender and also manages a couple of nights a week for the owner. Sarah is super friendly, explained the menu and provided great table service. They have a large wine selection. My wife ordered a chardonnay and I stuck with an Arnold Palmer. We ordered their bruschetta appetizer, served as six pieces of toasted bread and the expected toppings. It was a perfect start to our meal. We were not super hungry, and selected a three-cheese charcuterie board. You are able to select your cheeses, and Sarah again helped us make our decision. It was perfect for a summer-weather afternoon (although in March) and we chatted, had our drinks and picked at the board until it was gone. During our meal, Sarah was very attentive to our needs. My wife tried another chard, and we ordered their banana dessert, which had great flavor and was a nice end to the meal. This is a great place to quietly enjoy some wine, beer and food. They have a good sized menu and offer a brunch menu on Sundays. (Diane, Sarah needs a bonus, she made the evening much fun).

If I were to ask you to picture the most elegant and sophisticated wine bar anywhere on earth, you…read moremight think of, oh, I don't know, La Compagnie St Germain in Paris or Oscar Wilde in New York or even Wally's in Beverly Hills. You probably wouldn't think of one in Valencia, would you. Well, I have been to all of the above and I am telling you, you would be missing out on a one of a kind, out of this world experience that can be had any day of the week at Kindred Spirits, adjacent to the Hyatt Regency. No, I didn't expect it to come anywhere close to the stratospheric experiences you could have were you to choose any wine bar you fancied, but, the minute I got inside, I knew I was in for an unforgettable experience that I will want to repeat. First of all, it's downright beautiful. Flawlessly decorated with a chic living room vibe with just the right elements to suggest a curated museum-level sensibility. See my pictures as well as all the others here on Yelp. I spent the entire time noticing little details like the plush velvet banquet, the clubby wing back arm chairs, the art deco artefacts and furnishings, paintings, sculptures, even the ceiling lights were unique and obviously carefully selected. And then there is the stupefying wine and spirits menu that goes on and on. I rarely drink anything alcoholic but I couldn't pass up a taste of one of the exquisite sparkling wines that caught my eye. There is a full range of everything. If you really must have beer, it's there, but! For heaven's sake, try something elevated -- ask for recommendations. You won't be disappointed. However, the star of the entire experience is the menu. Now, remember, I am a lifelong vegetarian. I had fun limiting myself to four choices -- I could have had more were I not on a perpetual diet. You can see what we ordered in my photographs. Each dish was superb, really, first in class. Nonetheless, take a good look at my photographs of the Autumn Apple Tarte -- it is the g.o.a.t., believe me. Not only did it taste celestial but notice the tiny flowers? The chef, Priscilla, is a highly skilled and trained artist, her medium just happens to be delicately flavored and arranged plates of heaven. And Sarah, our attendant took a concierge approach to caring for us. A cosmopolitan playlist provided a lyrical backdrop that just made everything flow like silk. Parking is easy, simply use the Hyatt Convention Center parking lot adjacent to a verdant golf course or their garage, for free. There are two main rooms and we asked for the "lobby"-like large room with a giant table that we had all to ourselves, given we were there in the late afternoon on a Sunday. Even so, clientele were coming and going. It was the golden hour and we were draped in a warm light and cozy but uplifting spirit. The entire experience was flawless. And the tab? Ridiculously reasonable. You may not be headed to Rodeo or Saint-Germain-des-Prés or West 27th street any time soon. So, instead, treat yourself to this epic wine bar. You will thank me, when you do.
