Dude said driver was asleep in car. He was not. I tried calling back. No answer. I called on a different phone. He answered right away. I have reported Bill's Garage to the Boone police and town council for violating at least 3 sections of the town ordinance Chapter 73 on towing and booting (links below). I will be suing in small claims court to be reimbursed for a towing fee that exceeded the legal limit because Bill's Garage has refused to refund me. Bill's Garage towed my car from the parking lot at 375 West King Street in violation of the following Boone regulations: 1) Warning signs are several feet smaller than the required minimum of 4' x 4 (see §73.03 "Advance Notice of Trespass Towing or Booting Required") 2) Bill's Garage personnel were not wearing visible badges as required by §73.05 ("Booting Practices") 3) Bill's Garage is charging more than the legally required limit of 175% of their normal charge for a consensual tow of the same distance (see §73.06, "Towing Charges") The purpose of Chapter 73 is to protect Boone residents and visitors from predatory and illegal towing, a problem that was discussed by the town council at the most recent meeting in April: https://www.hcpress.com/boone/predatory-practices-of-parking-enforcement-agencies-comes-under-scrutiny-of-town-council.html. Bills Garage really will tow you from your own apartment complex. They are rude, and really will just tow you even if you have valid signage and its easily visible. Their drivers need to pay more attention, I am thankful I had no damage. They wrongfully will tow your vehicle and then force you to come get it. I had to walk from Village of Meadowview to Bill's Garage because my roommates had exams. I hope they switch to Hamptons, and Bill's needs to realize they are not the monopoly anymore and can't treat people this way. I completely understand when someone is in the wrong and parking in a restricted/private lot, but to tow people from their own apartment complex is absolutely ridiculous. Bills Garage performed grand theft auto on my truck (valid parking pass in truck) and claimed they "did not see the parking pass" and that they could not bring my truck back due to their policy. So, I had to find someone to drive me to their garage to get my illegally towed vehicle back which was super annoying and very disrespectful on their part. They have no shame and they will tow any vehicle they think is worth the money. Watch out for them and make sure to check your vehicles for damage afterwards. Also, I caught an employee on camera several days ago dragging a older/gold minivan out of a parking lot near Tapp room/Lily's and you can hear the minivans tires dragging across the lot, which undoubtedly had to damage them. We were towed from a parking lot that did not have proper signage and had been there less than an hour... this is considered predatory towing. We were the 2nd group of people arriving for our car from the same exact parking lot. When we showed up with our two young children the employees refused to release our vehicle to us, and made our children stand in the dark & cold until the police showed up & made them release the vehicle to us. Went through Gieco to get these guys to tow my car and was given an ETA time of about 3 hours from we requested it, which is fine. About 30 minutes after they were supposed to be there I called and they hung up on me almost immediately. I called back and they were extremely aggressive, rude, and said they weren't coming and hung up again. I then contacted Gieco and they attempted to call this shop and they hung up on them 6 times!! Terrible service overall and Gieco ended up contacting a different shop. Read these reviews!! I have never been hung up on by a company that I was relying on. Car was towed despite my sticker being in the front window shield. It is difficult to see at first, but when pointed out it is visible. I got in my car to show them, and turned around and they were gone. I went in to tell them to come look and they accused me of putting the sticker there myself. Danielle Hopper instantly got aggressive despite me being level headed and told me there was nothing to talk about and that I needed to pay. I explained I would not be paying because my sticker was there, she refused to talk civilly about it and simply kept repeating it would be $106.75. She told a coworker to block my car in, as if I was going to leave. I called the apartment complex, who confirmed I had a parking pass with them registered to my car and called the garage saying the same thing, but then told me that was all they could do. I went back into the location and asked to talk. She was calm for the first few moments, and then started raising her voice at me again. I said there was no reason to yell at me and that I was being calm with her. I am a college student, and my mom wanted to call. So she did and Ms. Hopper had the same tone with her and actually hung up on her in the middle of speaking. Additionally, a head on collision happened right in front of the store while I was standing outside on the phone. My Car was towed accidentally because it was the employees "4th day" I had a parking pass hanging from my mirror because that is my WORK parking lot. The church parking lot that i am ALLOWED to park in because i work at the church as a teacher. the church did not call to have me towed and apologized immensely to me. I missed my college classes bc i couldn't get my books or food card out of my car. Had to walk to the place to retrieve my car and they obviously did not care about their mistake and were rude. This review is specific to their towing/lockout service. Had a friend in town who had locked his keys, phone, and wallet in his car. We called a dozen places in the area, looking for someone to get him in. Even our insurance company couldn't find anyone. To make matters worse, it had snowed the night before and all the wrecker services were busy dealing with that. The Nissan dealership recommended Bill's and within an hour they had someone at our house and the car open. read more

On December 8, 2017, my front wheel drive minivan slid off the side of the road during inclement weather. Although I was only on the side of the road, I was near a creek and was nervous to try to back the van up in fear of it sliding into the creek. Instead of risking it, I called Bill's. The woman who answered the phone was very nice, said it would be about 45 minutes and someone arrived well before the 45 minute timeframe. The tow truck driver struggled to get my car out and I was very concerned that something was going to get busted from what he was doing. I asked him if he was messing my vehicle up and he assured me he wasn't and that he thought it looked ridiculous the first time he saw this done too. Eventually he got me out. I was less than a mile from my house and I asked him if he would follow me to my house because sometimes I couldn't make it up my road. He did, I paid him and it was about $80 for the tow and tip. I didn't drive until the next week. On Monday, I had to drive again to get to work. I noticed the van was out of alignment. That made sense because of all the pulling the driver did on my car. I called Idol's and they quickly got me in for an alignment. After trying to align the van, the mechanic called me back and asked if something had happened to the van. I told him that I had slid off the road and was towed. He said that the van could not be aligned because something was bent. Idol's said that they could get shims to make it align, but it wasn't solving the problem. (I was traveling to Ohio in the morning and needed the van to work.) My brother-in-law owns a tire shop in Ohio so we called for guidance. He said it sounds like a bent axle and we should take it back to Bill's because they have insurance to cover things when this happens. My husband took the van to Bill's who said that nothing was bent and he'd have it aligned by Kelly Tire. We also learned that the driver who had towed my van had already been fired for something unrelated. I picked the van up and paid $150 for and alignment and a camber kit that they said were broken off the van. I had 2 concerns at that point: 1. Why would Idol's say something was bent and they couldn't align it without shims and Bill's is saying nothing is bent and 2. Why am I paying to replace something that Bill's broke. Bill's staff told me that they don't like Idol's and that they couldn't prove that their guy broke the camber; they could have just worn out. You know, it wore out right where the driver attached his straps? They also indicated that since they weren't there and they fired the guy who was, they couldn't prove that anything they did messed the van up. However, earlier they asked me who towed me, they stated that they weren't surprised the driver messed my van up. I will say, all this happened in one afternoon and they worked quickly to "align" my vehicle so we could leave for Ohio in the morning. The woman at the front desk was also very nice even when I was telling them how unethical they are. While in Ohio, we took the van to my brother-in-law's tire shop just to check it out because the entire situation seemed fishy. He did find a bent axle. He said that the van was "fixed" in a way to make it feel aligned while you're driving, but the back tire was bent in and it would wear my tire down very quickly. He was able to replace the axle for $300+. At this point, I'm furious at Bill's because from my perspective he either lied or is incompetent and in the end paid over $500 for them to pull my car off the side of the road. I called Bill's to speak to the owner to let him know what happened and to let him know of my plans to write a review and get his final side of the story. He stated that my axle wasn't bent and that he provided exceptional customer service by quickly getting the van "fixed" and covering part of the cost of the camber kit and alignment. I informed him that he in fact did not fix my van, but covered up the fact that the axle was broken. He does not believe that to be true. Overall, I would say that I appreciate Idol's Tire. They were so helpful throughout and were working diligently to help me resolve the problem. Decide for yourself, but from my experience Bill's is unethical and/or incompetent. I did not directly deal with Kelly Tire so I'm unable to tell if they were intentionally part of covering up the problem or were just following Bill's direction. Either way, I also will never deal with their establishment. read more

I was at work and parked across from my job. Yes, it was the wrong place to park. But I made it outside before my car was lifted. I stood in front of my car as he was backing up, and the guy did not want to stop. He finally did after he realized I was not moving. I approached the window and he got out. He told me that it had been called in and he had to take my car. He said for a "walk up fee of 20$" he would let me take my car. He told me that if I got in my car and drove off he would call the cops and I would have to deal with them. He also said that I couldn't move because I was blocked in. He told me what the issue was, recommended a few places to get it fixed, told me what to communicate to the garage, and then followed behind me to make sure my car would get there on his way back to Bill's. Here is the email I sent them if this explains anything. Hey guys I need the estimate that was left in my seat when I picked the truck up the first time everything wasn't fixed as promised. I explicitly asked for both hub assemblies to be replaced due to failing ball joints and clicking sounds and popping while turning and paid $400 for a break job on the front in which I provided the breaks. Then I returned the vehicle and explicitly said fix everything even after my axle had been broken and fixed with lock tite on the axle shaft in which I was told never was removed but it broke in your care. The day I picked it up it broken immediately and my hub cover flew off because it had been glued when it was broken off to cover the axle nut hence me hearing the nut rolling around after it broke. I was charged 500 for a radiator. A Lamborghini radiator is only $350. After three times telling you to fix everything I got another call saying they needed permission to install upper control arms after they had been ordered and I was told they were there just needing permission to install and I was assured it would fix the problems at hand. The 4wd actuator was fixed and is making a clicking sound when I turn and my truck now shuts off when I turn to hard and my powersteering wines when I turn and is still not working. So I was called again that it needed to go to Ford. So I paid $600 cash and drove it to my house and parked it. And 4 times I explicitly said do not call me until it is ready just fix everything. Now I'm being threatened that you will come and repose the vehicle even after you handed me the keys To take the quality of possession Until I'm forced to finally pay the remaining $1700 on a truck that doesn't work. It's In worse hape than it was when I brought it to you. So now the truck has to go to the Ford dealership to be fixed and I refuse to pay Any more money until I figure out What all has been replaced since you guys did not give me any of my parts back what you're supposed to keep until the customer tells you that they don't want them anymore that shows that they were actually taken off and replaced. I would like to compare the final bill to the estimate that was given to me initially so I can see if you guys even knew what needed to be replaced. Because you told me you told me after picking up the car the 1st time when I said fix everything After returning it to me and I'm driving it and finding out that it's still not working the that there was an estimate left for me in my seat for over $2000 in which I brought the car back to be fixed and still it's not this all seems very odd And because of what has happened so far I do not trust your professional opinion nor do I want my vehicle in your care anymore. Mr. Goodnight who was going to be more than happy to pay the remainder of the bill for me who recommended me to commanded me to you has also circumvented the fact that he had 2 vehicles that he brought to you and which cost him over $3000 both vehicles are no longer with him because he had to sell one for the transmission going out that you replaced immediately and the land rover that you guys didn't fix. I would suggest being happy with the $1000 you got out of me and letting this go I will be more than happy to have the vehicle fix somewhere else.. If you continue to pursue taking my vehicle from me for non payment then we are going to pursue taking legal action. I gave a very specific detailed list of 2 things that I absolutely wanted the hub assembly to be replaced in which I had to ask for twice And to take a look at the spark plugs wires and sensors in the engine Bay Because those 3 issues are a large concern to me. None none of which were accomplished. Hopefully this issue can be resolved without me having to report you to my local automotive Regulators.
