Overpriced. Food is mediocre. Many beers to choose from, but served cool, not cold.

The services was amazing our waitress make sure to check on us. Make sure to bring us our food right away and our drinks. The ambiance was wonderful, with a stunning style and atmosphere that truly stood out. The artwork felt authentic and thoughtfully chosen, adding to the overall charm. Even the details were impressive the tables and the beer bottle salt and pepper shakers were such a creative and delightful touch.

I lived nearly half my life in Arizona and California, where they know how to make good Mexican food. The food at Habanero was the blandest Mexican food I have ever encountered. Located in an industrial district, I wasn't too surprised when I pulled up after 7 one evening and it was fairly quiet. "Probably does most of its business during lunches," I thought. The hostess greeted me quickly and, when I asked if they had a bar area, she ushered me to it and I took a seat at the bar. I should probably have taken a clue from the fact that dirty glasses were clustered at the end of the bar, and there were neither bartender nor other patrons in sight. The other dinner patrons were in the dining room. Chips and salsa came quickly, followed by my bartender who took my order for a house Margarita, on the rocks. "Would you like salt or sugar with that?" should have been my second clue. Sugar? On a Margarita? The chips needed salt, but fair enough. Lots of people are watching their salt, and that was easily remedied. The salsa, though, tasted more like pureed tomatoes, lacking any kind of discernable heat. Strike one. The Margarita was also a disappointment: watery and weak. Though she poured the mix from a jug, it's not uncommon to prepare a large batch of mix early in the day and add tequila just before service, but that was not the issue here. Flavor and any punch from the tequila were conspicuously absent. Strike two. For my solid food, I ordered a chili relleno, my litmus test of a good Mexican place. While delivered quickly and piping hot temperature-wise, the sauce had an unusual sweetness to it while the poblano pepper had no. Heat. Whatsoever. Strike three. When I stood up, signaling that I was ready to leave, the server simply said, "You're ready for your check?" My Margarita was only about one-third gone, and I'd only taken a few bites of my relleno. An astute restaurant professional would have noticed that very little had been eaten and would have asked if everything was all right. It wasn't, but they either didn't notice or knew not to ask. A good four- or five-star experience - even after a single visit - will encourage repeat visits and a positive review will encourage others to try the establishment. A one-star experience, especially when it's the first visit, will not inspire the patron to give the place a second chance, and a review based on that single experience will likely have a chilling effect. Sorry to be "that guy," but I won't be back.

The…read moremenu is uniquely varied, from Guacamole, Shrimp Ceviche, Korean Beef sliders (also work as a meal), and a wonderful Mexican Caesar Salad (a fav of ours) as starters; to 4 different quesadillas, 9 different tacos, 6 different burritos, 2 rice bowls, and 4 different papas fritas, aka fries with toppings. We've never had anything we didn't love! This most recent visit, we started with the Mexican Caesar and Chips with guacamole. Yum! Hubby had the Saturdays Night Special Burrito made with pork carnitas, Arroz verde, queso, avocado crema and tomatillo salsa on a grilled flour tortilla. Excellent! He could not finish it because it was so substantial... I usually go for tacos, and the Texican is my absolute go-to! SO flavorful! Also had the pork carnitas taco, neither of which could I finish. Love that all tacos can be wrapped in lettuce instead of tortillas if one prefers! Totally forgot pics until we packaged our leftovers (which hubby happily enjoyed the next day), so that's the only pic you get, unfortunately! Hopefully you can still discern the deliciousness of Solbird's food!

Oh, MAN, do I wish there was a restaurant like Solbird Kitchen & Tap closer to home…read more On a recent visit to Fort Wayne my wife and I were trying to figure out where to have dinner. Our son-in-law asked "Have you tried Solbird? They have amazing tacos!". Wellll...that's all that took! The decor at Solbird is nicely done. It's not bright and flashy. It's not overdone. It's not obnoxious. There's enough to give the place some ambiance without being overwhelming. It's dignified and suits the establishment. Solbird has a combination tables: bar seating, high tops, and regular height table. We're always high top sitters. Oh, and can we talk about these chairs? At least the tall chairs? Those things are HEAVY! If I'd have known they were that heavy I'd have eaten Cheerios® for breakfast. Our server was a very delightful young lady named Soleil (yes, like the actress Soleil Moon Frye). She was amazingly fun and just....cool. I'm not going to lie. My son-in-law mentioned the Mexican Poutine and that's all it took to get me in the door. My wifey was interested in the Korean tacos. Our food was delivered hot -- VERY hot -- and accurate, and I couldn't get the Mexican Poutine in my belly! It was 100% delicious in a way that I did not see coming, and I'm guessing that was the Chorizo. It made it AWESOME. The staff (all women as far as we saw) were all friendly, helpful, and always busy cleaning and stocking. The overhead music was 80s and 90s and was at a perfect level and not overwhelmingly loud. It gave the restaurant an upbeat, fun vibe. There's a sign on the door that says that no one under 21 is allowed to enter. I don't if that's an absolute, or that you can't eat here if you have kids under 21. No matter, I don't object to a restaurant having a rule like that. It's not an altogether bad thing to have adults-only establishments. Yea, if there was a Solbird close to home I'd be there every night...which makes it a good thing that it's about 4 hours away. :)
