Pulled up to the livestock auction house and thought for sure I was lost. I was starving so am glad that I opened the door and confirmed the existence of this gem. Walking into the building you wouldn't think much of the place, but once you get into the restaurant you feel like you are in a typical Texas roadhouse. Cozy, warm, homey, and delightful all around. I asked the waiter if the burger was cooked properly or the Houston style (burnt to a crisp and disgusting). Fortunately, being so far away from Houston, I was assured the burger would be nice and juicy: indeed it was. Fresh cut, perfectly fried okra alongside a juicy burger made this meal perfect. I wish I could give this place a diamond rating. Texas Michelin Star Worthy for sure. Got to meet Billy as well. True gentleman. Very cool experience. We have driven by this place many times but never realized it was a restaurant until seeing reviews on Yelp. We stopped in this past weekend and it was awesome! Fried zucchini is about as fresh as you can get! I had the chicken fried steak with onion rings and beans. Wife had chicken fried chicken with potatoes and broccoli rice casserole. Everything was fantastic! Also picked up a piece of coconut pie to take home. Highly recommend this place. Home cooking at its finest. Hidden gem inside the sale barn, or livestock auction building for those of you who aren't as country as me. Despite its unassuming appearance, this is literally one of my favorite place to eat of all the places I've ever been. We've been coming here since we moved out to the area about two years ago and I've not had a bad meal yet. And they're always playing the best country music from like the 80s and 90s. Perfect! Literally everything on the menu is great. Chicken fries, Gulf shrimp, steaks, burgers--it's all good! Their salad bar features homemade dressings and croutons as well as coleslaw and usually one other type of "salad" like pickled veggies or macaroni salad or what have you. And don't get me started on the fried pickles. Delicious! But you gotta save room for dessert, too. In fact, if you see something you like in the dessert case when you sit down, order it then because there may not be any left by the time you're done with your entree. My personal faves are the cinnamon rolls and coconut pie. All that wonderful food is brought to you by a regular staff of about four. These ladies and gentlemen are kind, friendly, fun and good at their jobs. Food is always hot, drinks never run dry and everything is delivered with a smile. You know it's not just a good place to eat but a good place to work when the same folks wait on you for years. Couple of tips: it's BYOB if you'd like an alcoholic beverage with your meal. And it's a small place, so it can get a little noisy at peak times. If you've got a hard of hearing diner, try to seat them in one of the booths with their backs against the wall. After looking at property at Lake Limestone we decided to try this place as it was highly rated. Don't let the outside appearance fool you it's a gem inside. Home cooking at its best. We started off with potato skins that were the best I've seen. Plenty of cheese, onions, bacon and homemade ranch dressing. My fried catfish was excellent with a side of onion rings and mac-n-cheese. My wife had the senior size catfish plate and could not finish - too much. Our daughter had the chicken fried chicken and she could not finish it either it was so big. Everything was delicious and reasonably priced. Service was superb and provided by Bubba. Oh and btw we got a single slice of coconut cream pie to go and enjoy when we got home it was outstanding. On our way to a Dallas Cowboys game we stopped in Goesbeck, Texas to split up the drive. We had seen the yelp write up on Billy B's and thought we would give it a try. It's not what you would expect! It was rustic, the people were all locals and treated us like we were from there! The atmosphere was soooo friendly, I mean everyone said hi like they knew us! But the food!! OMG it was incredible! Went to Grosbeak on an errand, my normal place was closed so I asked for a recommendation. What a great place the food is wonderful! Easily in the top 5 burgers in Texas. The burger is hot with a bun that is a tad sweet and it compliments the burger perfectly. The salad bar is a great substitute for fries... and let me tell you about those croutons.. I almost took the entire basket with me. The wait staff is excellent and super friendly. Nice surprise! Never would have known the restaurant was there if I hadn't looked for a place on Yelp! Friendly staff and clean, cute restaurant. We started with the salad bar. There were a few people that were loading up before it was our turn so the lettuce and other items were out. I asked the server for lettuce and she was great! This is one of those places that you hear about via word of mouth or only know about if you're a local. The cafe is located inside of a sale barn (livestock auction barn), and the signage is such that you would have no idea it was in there if you weren't looking pretty hard for it. But once you get inside, it's the epitome of what you might imagine a Texan home cookin' cafe to be. The walls are decorated with country and cowpoke paraphernalia and are made out of tin siding. Everyone knows everyone and it's only open a few days a week, so the place is always pretty full. The food is cheap, plentiful, and delicious. I ordered the grilled catfish with roasted vegetables, trying to at least have some semblance of healthiness to balance out the hush puppy, cole slaw, and potato salad I indulged in. The portions are huge so either come hungry or prepare to take home some leftovers. I was too stuffed to try the desserts but they looked decadent. read more

We were told by a dear friend to give the "Auction Barn" a try. We discovered that this was another name for Billy B's. On 11/13/20 we made up our minds to GPS this establishment. It doesn't look like much at all from the exterior, but the food is superior. The cafe is part of a cattle auction facility which adds to the charm. Our party had catfish, chicken fried steak (crispy and cooked to perfection, chicken fried chicken and accompanying vegetables and bread. Wow, this place has some good food! Husband and I had catfish, kids had grilled cheese and corndog. Everyone was very happy! Small portions are still a little more than we would eat in one sitting. My reason for 4 stars rather than 5 was the service. Hold on... everyone was VERY FRIENDLY and polite. However, they seemed a bit overwhelmed with the house full, and no one ever really checked on us. This place is small so 3 waiters should be able to tend to everyone easily, but when I have to flag someone down to get my check it's a problem. It will not stop me from going back, I'll just make sure I choose a table that is in clear sight of the staff instead of a quiet corner. read more
