Are these the best bar nachos in Tacoma? I don't know, I haven't had them all. Would I sign these nachos up for a poll as a candidate? Yes, I would. First of all, their nachos don't have olives. Already ahead of its peers. The steak is flavorful (I think seasoned with generic tex-mex taco seasonings) and in the perfect nacho bite size, no chewy large steak pieces here. I had a cider and French dip. Both were delicious. My friend had the shrimp skewers which were generous in size and flavorful. The fries were not the kind I typically enjoy but I was surprised to eat the entire portion along with the delicious dill dip they served with it. Service was quick and friendly. We came here with a friend for a drink and ended up with a good beer and even better fish and chips!! We also had the breaded mushrooms and OMG were they good. Most places give you small button mushrooms but these were sliced portobellos hand coated in batter. The fish was flaky and cooked perfectly. I really did not expect to rave about the food but here we are. The space is quite small with a pool table in the center and the music cranked up on high. If you want to chat with friends, this is not really your place. The service was great though and we never had a problem getting drinks or food. Billy B's was a restaurant Steve and I went to when we were doing a big movie marathon a few weekends ago interspersed with bringing take out food from restaurants for our meals. Needless to say it was a very enjoyable and spoiling weekend! When we came to Billy B's we were pondering about staying for the meal actually but the place is relatively small and if you get a loud group in which in this case there was it's very difficult to hear yourself think or have a discussion so we made this meal a take out as well. We ordered the nachos which was a huge portion brought to us in a pizza box. Good thing we live close because the aroma of the nachos really activated our hunger. And the nachos were delicious! Perfect bar food! The very large appetizer was wonderful with all it's very toppings and ingredients which made Billy B's a real hit for us! I see they also have sandwiches as well so that would be tempting to try as well as well as sit, relax and have a cocktail when the other patrons are more quieter. read more

I love a good dive bar and this place hits all the rights and then some! Clean inside and out but still with the required dive bar feel, semi tacky interior (but again, super clean!!) gaggle of what you can tell are regulars who've probably sat in the same seats for decades and welcoming feel. I stopped by for lunch midweek with a friend who actually suggested the place. We were geared quickly by the server, super friendly. Ordered a couple of beers because every good business lunch includes beers. She was right on top of things and brought them out quickly. We asked for some time to chat before we ordered and she gave the perfect amount of space but still checked in to see when we were ready. Now to the food. I ordered the portobello burger because I LOVE a good portobello burger and he had the bacon burger. The food came out reasonably fast, quick enough to be good service but slow enough to know they actually put some time and detail into what they were doing back there. My burger was awesome. Just awesome. Maybe one of the best portobello burgers I've ever had. Super well cooked portobello, amazing sauce (clearly homemade) fresh bun lightly toasted. Soooooo much yum!! The fries were fresh, perfectly salted and their fry sauce was legit. Just a little spicy and just a little creamy. The perfect pairing imo. His burger looked awesome also so they won on both counts. The server brought plenty of napkins, checked in several times to make sure we were happy and continued to provide great service. Yeah it's a dive bar but if upscale dive bar is a thing that's what they've got going on here. I totally want to go back and try something else on the menu. We really like this corner neighborhood bar, it's "ours" now, being the closest one to our house a few blocks south, and because of the fun vibe and good food. We've had dinner twice - the kitchen is unexpectedly excellent! Once a couple of EXCELLENT burgers and last weekend we went for the steak special (on Saturday !!! ). I love a cheap steak dinner and this one was truly good, my favorite so far in this town due to the nice salad, small-but-perfect side of carrots and broccoli, and a baked potato on the side of a very tasty 8 oz sirloin. Both of our steaks came out perfectly cooked. The atmosphere here is cheerful and friendly, the bartenders are nice and the crowd is both old and young, all types of people who seem like they are from the neighborhood. Most of the conversations I overhear involve how much overtime the person worked last week, haha. A few older folks like us mostly having happy hour or dinner, lots of pretty young people who look like they might be getting ready to go out to the clubs later. Or maybe they are just all dressed up for this place? I can't tell, but the younger peeps are drinking and mingling not having dinner usually. The jukebox is bumpin' good R&B. The one down side is it's not really a place for mixed drinks, my requests for an old fashioned tend to be met with confusion which seems weird - but they always willingly try to make one. Woo! I'm sitting here stuffed! I really loved my jalapeño burger (and those jalapeños were fresh ones and HAAAAHT!) and the fries were on POINT! My husband got wings that had a great crunchy outside and juicy inside- they were a great size and there were eight to an order. All of their sauces and dips are made in-house, their chicken tenders are made here from fresh chicken, and their onion rings are made fresh, too. The draft beer was cold. The inside is small but the atmosphere is very laid back and comfortable. They have a pool table, electronic dart board, and touch screen jukebox with Bose speakers set up around the place for great sound. There is plenty of parking right next to the building. We plan to come back on another Saturday for steak night. read more

CHEAP DRINKS!! REALLY CHEAP DRINKS AND LOTS OF TVS! My husband and I swung in here to catch the end of a college game when meeting friends in Tacoma. We decided to grab a drink and a view. There were lots of TVs, which was nice for easy viewing of many games, and the service was good. The mixed drinks I ordered were nice and strong. My husband and I got the shock of our lives when we got the bill- the drinks were ridiculously cheap. We had to double check the bill to see if the waitress had missed something. For a little dive pub, this place is great. Not much to look at curbside, and not a huge space inside, but it's clean, the food is delicious, and the staff are friendly and efficient. Walking in, there's pool and TVs; your typical sports pub, and you might not think much. But then notice how clean everything is: bathrooms, tables, condiment trays. The bartender was quick and efficient tending bar and serving tables with an easy friendliness. She remembered my ordered with substitutions and special requests and my drink order without batting a lash. The chef served my burger herself: sub pepper jack cheese, no tomato, side mayo, and I could tell she took pride in her cooking and really cared. It felt like mom serving me my favorite meal. It was no kidding one of the best burgers I've had in recent memory and I eat a lot of burgers. Love, love, love this place! Drinks are cheap with a good amount of alcohol in them. I always feel that I get more than my money's worth here. The most surprising thing about this place is the food. At first glance at the menu you would think this is just standard bar food. Yes, there is to your standard fare to choose from but order it and you will not be disappointed. Reason for the 4 star is because the food was a bit pricey for my liking. It was 10$ a plate. Ordered a quesadilla for appetizer, then hubby ordered fish& chips and i ordered the mushroom burger with bacon and tots. Food is freaken DELICIOUS!!! By far the best mushroom burger I've had in Washington. The portions were huge... quesadilla came out the same time our meals came to us. Quesadilla had a good portion of chicken in it, olives and everything seemed fresh. Their house ranch is to DIE for. Their Salsa was actually great, I do not like salsa because of the acidity but this salsa had all flavors and was pretty good. The only downside to my burger was that they charge extra for bacon but my burger had NONE in it. Otherwise after eating our chicken quesadilla I will say I could only finish half of my burger meal. Husband loved how fresh the cod was and we both liked our tots however u can taste the oil the tots were cooked in which I didn't like. The chef was attentive and I did compliment our meals because again everything was DELICIOUS. We had water .. would've loved to have stayed for drinks but we were busy.
