Recently stopped in here for a date night with the wife. We've been looking for a decent replacement ever since Tacoma lost the Rhein Haus. Since my wife is of German heritage, brats and kraut are a thing in our life. The menu here looked really good, so we stopped in our 29th anniversary. I will say, there is a parking lot across the street. For those who've been in the area for a while and remember past times, it used to be a used car lot Luckily I found an empty spot on the street right out front, so I grabbed it. But yeah, parking in this area can be tricky. Just be aware that there is the lot across the street on Puyallup Avenue, the entrance is from "Court A", which looks like an alley but is technically a road. Tacoma is fun like that. So let's talk food. We ordered the Brätzel, because my wife loves a good soft pretzel with some beer cheese. This one states that it's a beer cheese soup, and it was a bit thinner than a typical beer cheese. But it had a really good flavor. It was not gritty at all like some beer cheese can be (I'm looking at you Hops&Drops). I'm not a huge pretzel fan, but I will say that I tried a portion of it and enjoyed this one. The pretzel had a good flavor and the beer cheese soup was great. We also split the Landjäger / Käse Platte. Let's get one thing clear, this thing is bigger than it looks on the menu. There's a lot here. I'm really not sure exactly which of the four cheese were which. If you go by the description on the Käse Platte then it should be Bavaria Bleu Crème, Raclette, Emmentaler and Butterkäse. The Bleu Crème is easy to spot. The rest look similar really. But each had a unique flavor and all tasted absolutely wonderful. The cured beef and pork sausages were good, but the cheese stole the show here. We also shared the Berliner Platte for a main. Again, I can not stress this enough, there is A LOT of food here. the two of us had no chance of eating all this. This plate comes with the following sausages; Berliner Bratwurst, Smoked Cheese, Spicy Cheese, Chicken Andouille & Bockwurst as well as being served with sauerkraut and you get to pick two sides. We chose the Spätzle and Pommes (fries). All of this was amazing. The spicy sausage and the andouille were too spicy for my wife, but we knew that going in. If you have a group and are wanting to sample the many wursts here, I would highly recommend this plate. Now, let's talk service. I don't remember our server's name, but she was so great. Very friendly, very tentative, very good at her job. This was exactly the kind of service I look for when I go out to a restaurant. I don't want some tablet where I'm interacting with a faceless machine, I don't want a kiosk, I want a real person who engages with us and helps make our experience the best it can be, and this place gets it. The staff here is on point, they are good, they take good care of you and the experience made s want to come back. This place is for sure at the top of our list for German food here in Tacoma. If you have not been, you need to stop by. It's not big, it's not fancy, you'll drive right by it if you aren't paying attention. But this place is by far the perfect replacement for our missing sausage haus. We are so glad we stopped in. read more

The grapefruit radler was so tasty, albeit only 2.5%, but my point still stands. Our server seemed busy the entire night (there was a US world cup game on, followed by trivia). My boyfriend and I came here after a comedy show nearby as many places were either closed or would close soon. As we arrived, we weren't sure if needed to seat ourselves but by the time we were about to look at a sign, a kind waitress let us know that we can seat ourselves anywhere and brought us menus. I saw that they had tables with fires which was really cool but unfortunately there were a lot of people sitting there so we just sat at the longer tables. The interior of this place is huge and bright! They have plenty of seating inside and it looks like they do outdoor seating which is dog friendly. We were told that they will have days where they have musicians playing German music and that it attracts quite a large crowd. Our waitress Sara was hilarious, personable and did a great job of taking care of us. She really made the visit all the more memorable and fun! We did order a lot: Berliner Platter with chips and spatzle, Berliner Sliders with fries and a bratzel. We did not realize just how huge the portions were for everything, like the platter was going to be big but we weren't expecting the amount of food for other order. Everything tasted absolutely amazing though! We really enjoyed everything and they do not mess around with flavors cause you taste exactly what they advertised. The house made chips were also fantastic and probably some of the best I've ever had. This place is good. I've only been here once before, but I need to keep it in my usual snack rotation because the food is bomb. Last week I had been feening for some sliders BAD. Come to find out they had them here, so after a walk on Saturday my husband and I headed over for a beer and snack. Alas, I got my sliders. They were bomb. We went here for lunch with some friends and when we arrived it wasn't very busy so we got right in and the food came out fairly fast! Boy, did they get busy and unfortunately they had staff call out, so the only person working was busting her butt to ensure we were taken care of. They must treat their employees well, and if not, they should. There was a large party in the upper section and one of the guests was actually a staff member, who stepped in to help the other person. Talk about dedication! The food was good, beer equally as exciting and overall a good experience that I was expecting. I really liked my spicy sausage, it had great flavor. As a German family, we know good German food, and this restaurant absolutely delivered! We gathered with 14 family members to celebrate three birthdays, and every single person enjoyed their meal. Berlin Beer Hall is 100% worth the trip--even if it's in a slightly sketchier part of town. Once you're inside, it's all gemütlichkeit. The beer is always fresh, perfectly poured, and yes, you can (and should) get a full liter. We had fast, friendly service, and every single person in our group loved their meal--solid portions, great flavors, no complaints. We happened to come on trivia night and ended up staying for two rounds. It was honestly some of the best-run trivia I've been to--well-structured, clever, and actually challenging in a fun way. Good for watching world cup game with a group but there wasn't enough wait staff there on a game evening for dinner service. Food came out pretty quickly though. I was not a fan of the food unfortunately. Sausage was very spicy without any mention of that, and the kids couldn't eat it. Chips were lacking flavor and were very dry and over cooked, fries were bland. Not enough sides. Pretzel was undercooked in the middle - gooey. Cane here for a small get together for a birthday and did not know this place existed. The place is spacious and family friendly. I didn't expect so many families with small children dining here. They have a great variety of beers and cocktails. And their pretzel is the BEST! So good! Very large, soften and crunchy at the same time and the cheese that comes with it! So good! I enjoy going to Berliner beerhall with my husband for good German food and beer! Service has been excellent and we love the atmosphere. Everything Ive had has been good including the burger, schnitzel, sausages and pretzel. My husband enjoys being able to order a stein of beer. I also love all the steins they have decorating the restaurant. We live near the T line and enjoy that we can take it and walk over without worrying about parking. This place has a great selection of German beers - including some I can't find anywhere else. It is a very cool environment and is warm and comfortable. This is a nice truly German beer garden. The food is good. We had a couple hamburgers. They were very tasty. Parking could be a little tough since you've gotta park on the street. This was a nice, 5 star experience for an early dinner. My wife and I have always wanted to try this place, and a doctor appointment in the area on a late Friday afternoon gave us the opportunity. Great place to get some delicious German beer and food. They have a good selection of German beers on tap, wine and mocktails. The dining area is spacious with booths and long tables. We ordered a bunch of food items to go along with our beer. The food: *Brätzel $13- huge soft pretzel baked and glazed with butter. It usually comes with salt sprinkled on but we had requested no salt. It came with beer cheese soup to dip. Thumbs up! *Landjäger/käse plate $18- cubes of 4 different types cheeses, slices of landjager ( cured pieces of sausage), pieces of sourdough bread, small dollop of sauerkraut, small pickles, mustard. We really liked this plate-perfect accompaniment to the drinks. *Schweinshaxe $26- braised ham hock. Super tender and tasty-good sized portion that can be shared. Came with salad too. A great German style beer hall type pub in Tacoma. Arrived on the weekend before a lunch rush crowd started to come in. Lots of seating available and plenty of tvs to watch sports. Sat at the bar area that surrounded a fire pit and was very comfortable. The food was excellent with a sampler of all types of German sausage and brats. Finally had the chance to try Berliner Beerhall after hearing rave reviews, it did not disappoint! Berliner Beerhall is right off Pacific in downtown Tacoma, parking can be tough- my only negative. Tons of tables, great for large parties. Fantastic alcohol menu- I opted for a Cab, not huge on beer- but huge selection in giant German mugs. Our table shared the frites with curry ketchup and homemade chips with beer cheese- delicious! For my entree I had the Rahmsnitzel with spatzle- delicious!! Undeniable community, good food, generous drinks, and just enough inconvenience to leave me undecided. Throughout the night, servers brought us the wrong drinks and dishes, and tried to bring our food to the wrong table. According to them, the tables got mixed up in their system - when we finally ordered, our server even prefaced that they'd try not to combine it with another table. At the end, our server had to rebuild our order at the table, and for some reason it took a full 3 minutes of them awkwardly standing there repeatedly asking us what we'd ordered as they typed it into their device. The place was also packed and boisterous. It was fun to see the liveliness of a Beerhall with long shared tables, patrons joking with the staff, and plenty of piles of French fries and sausages being brought about. I saw one guy wandering around the restaurant with a full sausage speared on his fork, taking bites as he fraternized. That said, it was incredibly loud. The space is open, so all sound echoes. On a Wednesday night, it also turned out to be Trivia Night, so when the host came on the mic, it got even louder. We were seated on the second level, which was better, but we still struggled to hear each other. Again, I appreciated the community, but the volume got grating pretty quickly. The food was great. I got the Smoked Cheese sausage, which came with a delicious garlic bread bun and sauerkraut, with a heaping portion of French fries on the side. We tried to call and make a reservation for V day. No one called us back. So we went anyway and went earlier before it got busy. Had delightful servers today!! It was taking awhile cause I think they were prepping for a big dinner rush. But we were ok with that. Haha we ended up getting a nice salad for free while we waited. We shared a Cesar yummm! I'm so glad Tacoma has another authentic German cuisine restaurant! My friend group and I went here last week for trivia (Wednesdays), and it was so fun! The atmosphere is hip and happening, and the wait staff were all very friendly! I appreciated the appropriate frequency of checking in and the accommodations they made for everyone - they have a detailed allergy menu, too, so you can look up literally everything on the menu). There are so many good looking dishes and cocktails, I'm going to have to make an effort to go back periodically so I can try everything! I had the "German Mac n' Cheese" and it was delicious! I should've got a to-go box because I was uncomfortably full (but sooo worth it ). The tap list is also very plentiful and has some beer for everyone! Overall, very pleased with Berliner! I wish we would have found this out first night in Tacoma vs the final night of three nights. By far the best experience that we had in the city!
