It took 25 minutes to get our food, which was hamburger steak and chicken tacos. We also ordered fried pickles as an appetizer. The hamburger steak was not fantastic, fries were cold. Went there with a buddy. Was disappointed that there is no draft beer. A place like this should have draft beer. But that wasn't the main issue. I ordered wings, and decided to get 12. Let me tell you, there was very little meat on those wings. Maybe their other offerings are better, as my buddy reported his cheeseburger was "decent", but I'm not sure where they found the anorexic chickens that lost their wings. The building is something of a gritty dive bar. We stopped for lunch because we could see people on a covered patio and I wanted to eat outside. The food was surprisingly fantastic with many options! We had fried mushrooms as an appetizer. Their burgers are custom ground and delicious. I had roasted broccoli which was not overcooked and was well seasoned. Best kept secret in Robertsdale! Fish tacos are the best I've ever had, finally real blackened fish other restaurants I went to before just covered the food in blackened spices which makes it really salty unlike Billy Jacks, the blackened fish in the tacos is absolutely delicious (my all time favorite), and their gumbo is absolutely perfect the right amount of everything and it's so yummy you will want to finish your whole bowl and then devour the delicious fish tacos or you can share with a friend which my friend and I do sometimes but they're getting harder to share because we love our two favorite dishes, I haven't tried anything else because I have to get my 2 favs, but I've been told by people that have tried other items off the menu that everything is delicious. The restaurant is nice inside, and the owners/staff are friendly and very helpful and easy going which puts you at ease if you have any kind of anxiety, we go when it's not busy but I know it gets busy especially during Friday evening/night when I think they have karaoke there and an outside seating area, check out their website, their FB page to get more info about the bar or anything else you need you can call them, extremely helpful when I called and asked something my friend wanted to check and make sure about. This place has been a staple since it opened. To be one of the only bar in grill in robertsdale. Have always enjoyed the food from the burgers to the wraps to crab claws. It's never anything amazing but for a local bar and grill definitely a good place to go to get drinks and burger. They have live music outside and also a sand play area for kids that my son absolutely loves. The wings are decent taste size could be bigger but my wife loved them. Son was too busy in the sand area to eat and my catfish was mediocre didn't seem as good as I remember outside was soggy and taste seemed as if it was frozen. I still ate it as I was starving but was not impressed. The boudin ball always hit the spot especially with their homemade remoulade sauce. I'm not letting this meal steer me away. This is a locally owned and operated restaurant and cool little place that is on Hwy 59 (the main drag) but it's kinda hidden by some big beautiful oak trees so look carefully. It was apparently originally a bbq shack with an outdoor bar and it's got a retro funky vibe that's perfect for a place called Billy Jacks. I was a fan of the 1973 Tom Laughlin movie (old guy reference LOL) The menu consists of apps, salad, 1/2 pound burger, baskets and sandwiches but there's some stuff that sets them apart from other area eateries. "Fried" royal red shrimp, grilled triggerfish tacos served with fries, hushpuppies and coleslaw and their selection of signature Judge Roy Bean sandwiches. The portabella and smoked chicken & conecuh sausage sandwiches are stand outs. When they opened a few years ago they served complimentary smoked tuna dip with crackers and became a very popular item. While lots of reviews talk about this yellow fin tasty starter it's no longer a comp treat but is on the appetizer menu. They have a full bar, homemade deserts, daily specials, and 6 item $4.95 kids menu. I got started with the big 10 ounce bowl of Ted's famous homemade gumbo for $5.95. Gumbo is one of those subjective dishes and this one doesn't have the darker and thicker bases or roux. For the gumbo aficionado it's all about the roux but I enjoyed this lighter stock with lots of shrimp and fish with a slightly tangy touch. Next I had the fried triggerfish basket with fries, coleslaw, and hushpuppies. The flour breading had a touch of cornmeal and was browned nicely, perfectly cooked and seasoned, the big portion of crispy steak fries were good and the hushpuppies are some of the best I've had. The remoulade sauce is also spot in. Our sever Shawna was friendly, attentive and took great care of us and I'm looking forward to returning to try some more of their nice looking food I saw going out to other diners. The restaurant itself has a funky eclectic vibe with all kinds of cute plaques and sayings all over the walls. The restaurant does offer indoor and outdoor seating. Heather was our server and she was very friendly and made good suggestions. After reading so many positive reviews mentioning different menu items my husband and were at a loss for what to try since we were leaving the area tomorrow. We finally decided to order the in house made fish dip. We are from the Florida coast and have eaten a lot of fish dip and this didn't disappoint. Heather informed us that the conecuh was a sausage made in the nearby county of Conecuh, hence the name.He was so impressed with his sandwich when I saw the same sausage in a local store I bought it.
