Absolutely my favorite place for fish. The triple tail is delicious. I had the basket this time with cole slaw, hushpuppies and a salad. My wife and I split it. Great tea. Great service. We got there at 7:30 pm knowing they closed at 8. I asked if they would seat us so late. Not only did they serve us, but they went out of their way to make sure we didn't feel "rushed". Thoroughly enjoyed big daddy's grill. We went there on a Sunday afternoon and they were working with a shortage of staff. Amazingly, this did not really affect the service that we received. Our table of four, +2 dogs, were accommodated quickly and efficiently. The dogs each got a grilled burger that came out quickly, and I ordered the Grouper fingers basket and it was excellent. Everything about this place has been great lately. The food always comes out hot and fresh. I especially recommend the fried pickles--crispy, flavorful, and addicting. Got in late to the house we stayed at just up the river from this grill. It took a couple of boat rides for our party of 12 and the kitchen was closing. Our waitress, student at Auburn (Go War Eagles!), was great and took the orders in stride and keep the drinks flowing. She did an excellent job and the food was delicious. I got the blackened fish po'boy, but shared some appetizers around the table. I would recommend the onion rings and fried pickles. I found this place on yelp and came in based on the recommendations. So glad I did. I came in with a friend and ordered the shrimp basket blackened. I had it with the potato salad. The shrimp were perfectly cooked and the seasoning was very tasty. The potato salad was creamy and had some bacon in it. Also delicious. I loved the feel of the place. Feels like an old fish camp. Great outdoor seating but you can also eat inside. Our server was very knowledgeable and honest about things she liked on the menu. It was such a great experience that I brought my husband back two days later and had another great meal. We both had the blackened shrimp and fish baskets. Delicious. Come in. If you don't read anything else, know that it's worth the drive and then some. We found this place by accident several years ago and we have talked for a long time about going back. On a recent trip home from Gulf Shores we got rerouted around traffic and ended up in the general area and snapped at the chance to go. I'll start with the service. As soon as you walk in the door, everyone working says hi and welcomes you in. That's really great because the restaurant is kind of hard to find and while it looks cool from the outside, if you're new to the place and don't know what to expect you know you found the right place when you walk in. Our server, Tori (I think that was it, I hope I got it right) was super friendly and accommodating for everything. On to the food. We had the shrimp wrap and the Big Daddy burger. I'm told the wrap was delicious (I'm allergic to shellfish so I don't know), but I can confirm that the burger was amazing. I got it without the sauteed onions, but otherwise as is, and wow! It was so big! Stacked with all sorts of goodies, all of which came together deliciously. I asked for it to be cooked medium, but I think it would have been amazing at medium rare (you just never know sometimes). It was so juicy that by the halfway point I had to give up and use a fork, and I mean that as a huge compliment. The fries were also great. I added a side of the Viper sauce. From the name you may be expecting something super spicy, but instead it is like the best barbecue sauce you will find. Great on the burger, great on the fries. You also get a great view of the water, and you can drive a boat right up. Sorry for the long review but go try it for yourself, you will come away happy! read more

Delicious food, big portions and a cool, bayou vibe! The only concern was the initial service and the restroom- or lack thereof. When my two riding buddies and I walked in, we were looking at three vacant tables inside. We had just ridden our motorcycles several hours to get there and we were hot, wanting to enjoy our meal inside in the air conditioning. When the hostess met us, she told us that there were "no tables available inside". A few moments later, she came back and told us that the "only tables available" were the ones we were standing beside- HUH?!? Ok... that's no big deal, but then, several minutes after we were sitting down, and after we had ordered, a large group came in and they were seated immediately in a table behind us. Ummm... alrighty. After our waitress took our orders, the table behind us gave the waitress their order (a solid 15 minutes AFTER we gave ours). Somehow, the table with 6 people that came in after us, and ordered after us, got their food a solid 15-20 minutes BEFORE we did. What in the.... Huh?? Ok, maybe we looked like scary bikers in our jeans, and T-shirts that didn't even have motorcycle logos on them. Our waitress was nice enough though, and I gave her a good tip... after all, it wasn't her fault. The only restroom I could find was in a tiny closet between the dining rooms. Inside was barely enough room for a single toilet and a small sink. It was sufficient for me, but for a place this size, I certainly hope that there is another one somewhere else. Other than that, the ride over was great and the location is really nice. They even have motorcycle specific parking out front. So, if you're looking for some great food, at a good price, with some questionable service, make sure you go to the restroom before you go, and then head over to Fairhope to Big Daddy's grill and get fed! read more

I absolutely loved this spot. One, giant sandbox with toys to entertain your toddler while you sit at picnic tables close by and enjoy your meal. Two, food was real good. And three, I'm sure you can ask what's in the cocktails with fun names but I just shot my shot and hoped for the best and ordered a couple - "River Water" was I think an AMF which brought me back to college. Last night our group of Rider's went for a ride on the back country roads and decided to stop in at Big Daddy's Grill for a quick refreshment and a snack and we were all pleasantly surprised. Starting off with service they did a very nice job of seating and paying attention to our group. The seats overlook the river and it's very relaxing you can even sit outside but it's so hot right now I don't think the fish want to be outside. Anyway it was clean and very relaxing the drinks were cold and we all had different feature drinks and none of them disappointed. The waitress said the gumbo wouldn't disappoint that they take their time with the rue.. so we had to try it. She was right it was very good. The meals we had sandwiches I had the philly-cheese steak others had the burgers and fried fish etc and everyone gave the food good reviews so I think its safe to say anything on the menu would be good. So if your roaming around the back roads give this place a try it will be well worth the stop. Make sure you tell them that "Phatt Panda - 1/2 Time" sent ya. Our neighborhood lunch group was at. Big Daddy's this week. There were 10 of us. We were seated almost immediately. Drinks arrived quickly too. Most everyone got something different and all thought it was great. Atmosphere is a 10 if it's sunny and you can watch the Fish River. Unfortunately it was misting rain so we chose indoors which has a nice ambiance too. (Fish Camp decor). Special of the day was Tri-tip which I had grilled. It was very good as were the sides, Cole slaw , red beans and rice and hush puppies. They have a good menu variety. We've had the Big Daddy burger before. Delish and enough for two. Just terrible service even for an airport restaurant. The hostess looks like she's angry, greeted her with a smile and hello and she just stared at me and pointed toward the table. I tried the honey chicken sandwich, it was terribly dry, overcooked and lukewarm at best. Plenty of tater tots, but those were lukewarm as well. My waitress never came back to refill my drink or give me my check. I was not in a hurry, so I had hoped to get some more drink before I left. But after about 30 minutes of sitting there with an empty glass and napkins covering my plate. I just scanned the QR code and paid using my phone and left. read more

It is still winter (32 outside) and we decide to go to a place known for outside dining. We got seated right away with a table overlooking the water. Could not have gone better. We ordered the oyster platter and gumbo and both were outstanding. I heard the gumbo was best in the county and they were correct. Last time I had gumbo this good was 50 years ago at a place called Meme's. I would get this every time I go in addition to getting some to go. The oysters were every bit their equal of the gumbo. Lots of oysters that were plump with just the right amount of fry. The sweet potato fries and slaw were great sides and oh, did I forget to mention how good the oysters and gumbo were. First time here! It is right up the road from the cottage we are renting. Server was very attentive and you just sit at whichever table you want. I originally wanted the shrimp and oyster basket but they didn't have oysters. Which I should know better than try to order oysters in October. So glad they were out My second choice was the burger. I had considered the shrimp basket but at $16, I felt the burger was a better priced choice. Burger was very good and the onion rings were great. My bf got the Big Daddy burger and he said it was right on point. And he's very picky about his burgers. We had the tuna dip and seafood gumbo as appetizers. Tuna dip wasn't anything special but really enjoyed the gumbo! It's been raining here so the view is gloomy but I could definitely see how nice it could be if it was a clear evening as it's right by the river. Would def come back here to grab food! Just what I wanted. A local, no frills bar and restaurant by the river. Food was great, as was the service.

Asked for a recommendation for seafood dinner, and locals sent me to this restaurant. Definitely off the beaten path, and well worth the drive! I had blackened fish and onion rings. It was so good I completely forgot to take a picture. Guess I'll just have to go back, and this time I'll get there in time to enjoy their deck that's right on the river.
