It is an amazing dive bar and restaurant minutes away from the Lauderdale by the sea beach. I had the whiskey cocktail with bacon, fried pickles and a shrimp po boy. Food was so fresh and good portions and prices. I even went back later on in the day to get a burger to go for my boyfriend. Our server was on point and very nice even though the place was busy. I asked to sample a draft beer and didn't love it but I am picky since I am a bartender myself. I will be coming back to try some other menu items since everything I had was yummy and would go back for cocktails. Visited here with my parents while on vacation and had a great time. Our server was super sweet and patient while we browsed the menu. We seated ourselves and she came over right away to greet us. I don't think I caught her name, but she told us she is from Ohio. We really thought she was great! I had already eaten dinner with a friend, but my parents got the pulled pork sliders that were half off on Mondays with mac and cheese. They loved them so much they added a second order after sharing the first. Also we enjoyed a cobb salad. I had two mezcal margs which were great! And only $12! It used to be a fantastic deal when the sliders rang at $3-4 a few years back, but now even at $7 a piece during Monday's special, they are still a good option among happy hour deals in LBTS. Amazing and unique burgers. I'm a sucker for fun burgers, and this place has em. I got the EL CHUPACABRA (creamy goat cheese, sweet chili bacon jam & arugula) which was fantastic. Great sweet and salty flavors together. My alternative pick was THE ELVIS (peanut butter, smoked bacon, cheddar & mayo) which I heard isn't as weird as it sounds and is more like a Thai peanut spread on the burger. Billy Jacks has the vibe going on part beach part college bar. The decor is super chill with dollars as wall paper and some interesting pieces. Staff were super nice and checked in on you. I had a "napkin burger" which was loaded with mushrooms and a Swiss cheese. The bun was soft and fresh. The burger itself was very well done and not very juicy. I did enjoy the tater tots for something different. They were nice a crispy. Next time I may opt for a more simple burger. read more

Looking for a quick dinner while in town and found great reviews for this place. Live music when we arrived which was good but a little too loud. They have a very eclectic vibe with $1 bills with drawings and notes on them covering the walls in the entire restaurant. You seat yourself and it took a bit to get service but our server was great. The food was all fresh and so good! Started with the box o' bacon and fried Mac nuggs (both very good) but the burgers definitely stole the show. Fries and tots were good but nothing special. If you want cold beer and pub food this is a great option. Nothing we had was earth shattering, except the service. Miles was super customer focused and he was all over the bar making sure everyone was tended too. The food was a solid good. I had the classic burger. I saw several large burgers being delivered and mine was just meh. As it was good- nothing overwhelming. It was slightly overcooked (wasn't asked how I like it and next time I would ask for more medium). The bun was super fresh and it was on $8.50 so that's all positive. The sweet potato fries were from a frozen bag. Again, not bad, just not great. Would get tots instead. I would prob try something else to see if it's just the kind of spot you have to know what to order. My husband got the Nashville hot chicken sandwich (Foghorn) and he was it was "very good". He liked his more than I liked mine. I was charged $2 for a tiny side of ranch. Would appreciate a heads up and homemade for that detail. We shared 13 oysters and they were $36. They were fresh and served with cocktail sauce. The fried Oreos were outstanding and I would order those again but for $4 I wish it was more than 1 to an order. The spot was hopping on a Friday. The chicken and waffle was so burnt it was black and dry. Even the waffle was hard to cut. The porky biggie sandwich was also burnt and not edible..yuck! The menu had quite a bit of pop culture references, and a few options that sounded interesting, but were looking for burgers. I ordered the B-real burger and a coconut mai-tai. Our server was awesome, very personable and friendly. Helped us figure out what we wanted. The mai-tai took a little longer than expected but our server was very responsive and apologetic. Our dinner was delivered in a time frame that was consistent with how busy they were. Very cool atmosphere with dollars pegged all over the walls. It was a little cool and they had a fan blowing on us which during normal Florida weather is fine. Tonight was a little chilly. The place was really nice very busy on a Thursday night they have one of the best happy hours which is from 5-7 in this area Lauderdale by the sea. We had 3 cheese sliders that came with a side we had sweet potato fries and Cole slaw, sticky nuggets bbq, plain corn on the cob. I had 2 beers 1 was a Floridian and the other a lager. Four of these oysters would add up to a normal size oyster. I ordered the southwest chopped Cobb salad with grilled chicken. That dressing was fantastic! One of the better salads I've had in a long time. We sat at the bar and our bartender was great. My buddy told me about Billy Jack's for many months, he regularly has gone here for years with his family that has a second home in LBTS. I've gone to Billy Jack's a bunch of times in the last 4-5 months. I tend to meet others here on Wednesday nights, when they have $2 grilled or raw imported Oysters, and $1 beers. You can't go wrong with this deal! The grilled oysters are insanely good w/ thier chopped garlic and mignonette they grill them with, and served with sliced garlic bread, chefs kiss! Raw are always fresh and delicious. The bar/resto is covered with signed dollar bills, like something you'd see in the Florida Keys etc, it's a great space wth eclectic decor. Bartenders and staff are always very nice, with great pours. They have no issues w/ my buddy bringing his big golden retriever/ registered emotional support dog. This place would get a higher rating with later hours. They start closing the bar down at 10pm, which I think stinks. This place could be perfect if they served drinks until at least midnight :( Very chill, relaxed Beach bar vibe, with excellent burgers/pub food and oysters, but with limited hours for such close proximity to the beach. read more

I visited Billy Jack's Shack on a Monday and was really impressed at first. They run a fantastic special -- sliders are half price, and drinks are discounted too. You get two sliders for $7, and they were very tasty and a great value. Unfortunately, what could have been an excellent visit was ruined by one major problem: dogs inside the restaurant. There's a sign right out front that says "No dogs allowed except service animals," but once you walk in, it's a different story. I saw dogs sitting on bar stools at the bar and even in chairs at dining tables. When I asked about it, the explanation I got was "They're locals." That doesn't make it okay. Aside from being unfair to paying guests who expect a clean environment, it raises serious questions about health and safety. It's a shame, because the food and specials really are good. But until the restaurant enforces its own rules and respects health standards, I can't recommend it. read more
