I will start off by saying my meal was great. I got a half rack of ribs and it was excellent. I got baked beans and coleslaw on the side, which were good. Unfortunately, my girlfriend did not have the same experience. She got four ribs, two of which had virtually no meat on them and a side of corn on the cob, which was inedible. It appeared to have been boiling for two or three weeks and it was simply a gummy mess. She got a baked potato, which was cold enough that it wouldn't even melt the butter she put on it. Family vacation in Kansas, so stopped here for the requisite BBQ. To be fair, BBQ will never top my list of favorite foods. It just won't. But I know good BBQ when I have it. This is not it. First of all, what self respecting BBQ joint works with margarine? (See that giant glob of it on the potato? At least center it). Second, the potato wasn't even hot enough to melt the margarine. I paid extra for the brisket and it was super dry (good thing I had all that margarine to moisten it!). The ribs were fatty and dry at the same time...how is that even possible? Trying to find family establishments in Dodge City - as far as we could determine - is an exercise in futility so we opted for Billy's. The food was good and the employees very friendly. I was disappointed that they were out of green onions; they didn't let me know this while preparing the potato, so I had to ask and opted for red. Rarely do I give such a poor review, but this place deserves it. I ordered chopped beef sandwich , beans, mac and cheese. He ordered brisket, sausage , Cole slaw, and mac and cheese. Drinks were diet Pepsi. All portions were generous, but cold. Mac and cheese, tasteless. Slaw um ok but watery. His brisket was dry,even to look at it was noticeably dry. Somewhat tender but dry and unfavorable. My chopped beef, was okay. The beans had bits of beef in them, which gave them the flavor they otherwise would not have had at all. The Pepsi - did not taste like Pepsi. Maybe machine needed cleaning. There was music, and it was great, and kept at a low sound so you could hear the person you were with. Something that bothered us both in checking out, was the screen popped up with recommendation amounts for a tip. Really? Cashier had to explain what this even was. Went for takeout to get the MVP. Employees were rude, could barely hear the cashier and they gave us the whole loaf in its bag. Wow - what a find. After a long day driving needed some BBQ and Billy Sims sure did a fantastic job! We got in town about 30 minutes before closing. You would never know it by the taste and quality of the food. Thick and juicy ribs with the right amount of smokiness. The pulled pork was also juicy and smoked just right. My husband said the sliced brisket was some of the best he has had. Equally good were the baked beans. Thick and tangy. And the staff was friendly and patient. Pretty decent BBQ from a strip-mall setting. Portions are generous; the chopped brisket was a tiny bit soggy but well-flavored. I got an order to go to take back to my hotel -- it was packed up quickly by a friendly guy at the counter. I was the only person in the place wearing a mask, but that seemed to be par for the course in this area of Kansas. I am old enough to remember "Kung Fu Billy" Sims' playing days, so all of the sports-memorabilia décor made me smile. read more

Nothing to write home about. Pretty boring, actually. Had a sliced brisket sandwich with baked potato salad. They put a lot of brisket on the sandwich, and it had no fat, but it also had little flavor and was a little dry. The potato salad was a disappointmeant, it was just bland. For what you get, the price is a little steep. I'm sure most people are happy with their meals, but it just didn't work for me. The triple 2 is what I ordered with a desert stack.. I did go threw door dash and they too were the problem.. should of checks over my order to make sure I received everything and Billy Sims should of also double checked the dasher didn't forget to grab everything.. my sandwich had little coleslaw on it and my stacker looked like it was blended in a blender when it's supposed to be stacked... also they forgot my soda... Oh my! What a find! Had food delivered via Door Dash and was greatly surprised! The fried fish was to die for, and the crab cakes and fried shrimp couldn't be better. Then says there are only two workers there so can't redo order they screwed up and bring it to us. They will redo it and double sides but we have to come get it. We ordered from door dash for a reason and can't come get it so he says there is nothing he can do. After talking to husband he finally agrees to bring a correct order and when he finally brings it asks for other back and without telling us only gives us the dolled sides and no freaking sandwich and takes. I really like this place. The meat is really good; moist and flavorful. I get the heisman and you get choices of meat and 1 side. A lot of food for the price and they have a few different bbq sauces to try. The staff is friendly and will tend your table when no one is line. They have two different types of potato salad- I would recommend the baked potato salad, it's delicious. read more

We ordered on DoorDash only to find out our order was incorrect and incomplete. After calling the restaurant we were told to come in and they would give us the correct sides and our drinks we ordered. Hello we ordered DoorDash because we couldn't make it to the restaurant the manager offered to comp us on our next meal but no refunds on what was wrong or items we didn't even receive. We are over the road truckers and can't get into a lot of restaurants which is why we use this service with very little problems until now. We were also told by the manager that the dasher said it was ok to substitute ( something they denied) They had our number and all they had to do was call I don't expect something for nothing but I do expect to get what I paid for. This was the worst BBQ that I can remember having along with a poor experience. My wife and I are in town overnight and stopped here for dinner. The two extremely young people behind the counter were hard to understand, they were out of baked potatoes, and the sliced beef brisket was extremely dry and not the best smoke flavor.
