This happened to me a few months ago... I went into this BioLife center and was greeted nicely and completed my paperwork. When asked about allergies, I mentioned I had a minor latex allergy. I was then sent to the certified nurse, whom, on first seeing me, was super rude and belittling, demanding to know why I was sent to see her. She looked up my chart and behold, I have a latex allergy. This apparently is a damning piece of information... She went on to ask if I had ever experienced a situation when my throat closed during latex exposure. I said yes, only once as a child when someone literally stuck latex adhesive butterfly strips under my nose. I have had latex experiences since then and other than a painful rash, had no other adverse reaction. I told her this, and she proceeded to raise her voice and explain I was not an "appropriate candidate" for donation. Explaining they HAD latex free bandages available BUT did not want to run the risk of a worker accidentally bandaging me with a latex bandage..... She then proceeded to tell me that I was "permanently banned" from this and any other FDA approved plasma center. She told me good luck if I went to a non-approved center, but don't try coming back to any BioLife in the US because they will see the ban she put on my chart. She asked me if I had any questions. This is the first time I had spoken since explaining my minor allergy, yet the entire time she was speaking she was increasingly raising her voice until practically yelling, had a very mean scowl on her face, and only smiled when she explained how I was banned. I asked why it was such a risk to bandage me in a latex bandage if it's clearly written in my chart that I had an allergy to it, also providing that I would also remind the staff member myself... She went on to explain how exceptional their staff was, and whipped her computer screen around to me so fast and so aggressively it unplugged several other units, and explained how again, I was banned. She told me to leave the room, and pointed to the door. I walked myself out and gently pushed her door shut, obviously she did not care enough to walk me out or say goodday, my being "banned" and all. I sat in the car for the next 40+ minutes waiting on my husband to finish donating, and saw at least 7 people walk out with a latex free bandage. I know it was because their latex free bandages or lime green, whereas regular bandages used are purple. I am severely upset and hurt by this interaction. I am somewhat understanding of why they do not permit me to donate, but I am not tolerant of the behavior exhibited to me today. Something must be done about her behavior and my inconvenience. read more

I've been here quite a few times now, and find everyone to be so nice and helpful. They were very informative and answered every question thoroughly. None of the other donors seem sketchy, everyone looks to be UNT students. A tip: I'd bring a zip up sweatshirt! It gets very cold at the end when they replenish you with saline, and it's hard to get a regular sweatshirt over your head when you're arm is bandaged tight! Also, search online beforehand because they'll have incentive coupons to bring in that will get you some extra $$. The first appointment takes about 2.5 hours (due to the initial physical and including time to actual donate). After that, each appointment takes about an hour. It's an easy way to make some extra cash and do something to help others. read more

It used to be good place to go but since covid don't waste your time. The process went from being an hour to well over two now. Easy fix quit giving appointments to times that don't exist and you won't have 39 people waiting in line. Common sense doesn't apply to this place. read more

I've been to other donation centers before and Biolife is easily the cleanest, friendliest, and most efficiently run center I have seen. I'm in and out in an hour or less, which is great because other centers have taken double that time. (And I'm the lowest weight group so I donate the least ml so double that time is quite ridiculous.) I've never had a bad experience here with the donation process or the staff. They do their best to make small talk with you and I have never felt judged or looked down on for donating. As long as you keep your health top notch they won't defer you. I truly enjoy this place and am saddened that I'm going to have to leave it in the fall when I move, because I know the donation center where I'm going doesn't come close to this one. I have been going here for about a year now and it's great. It's always very clean and welcoming. The staff at the front are always friendly and greet you when you come in. The technicians are always nice and make small talk. They do their best to be gentle when sticking the needle in you. They do their best to get you in and out pretty quickly. I'm usually there about 50 minutes. Check in process online is very easy. The whole process when you go in is easy and streamlined. The money that they give you on a debit card is great. You can make $70 a week if you go twice a week. That's pretty good money for two hours of my time. I haven't had any issues so I will continue to go. Just make sure you eat healthy and drink lots of water. It can make you get dehydrated really fast and sometimes make me very tired. Good experience and money though. read more

BioLife Plasma in Denton is literally making donors stand outside in the 37 degree rain and cold today for "social distancing." It's apparently ok and logical to deliberately put your donors at risk for pneumonia as long as they are socially distanced while getting it!!! For a medical organization to claim this is good patient care is unbelievable. A site supervisor Wyatt literally told me, "well if you get pneumonia, its better than Covid because there's no vaccine for Covid." Actually there is a vaccine for Covid and not pneumonia! The fact that Wyatt would even say that to me is unbelievable and completely unprofessional. Finally After driving 40 minutes and waiting over an hour partially in the rain and cold they wouldn't let me donate and sent me away because of a slight bruise in one arm where THEY stuck me the last time. Do not go to Bio Life Denton unless you want the runaround, your time wasted, and your health risked so you can socially distance. read more

I have been coming here regularly for 3+ years. It is getting harder and harder to keep coming in. The wait times are ridiculous, and worse than ever before. When they got their new machines, donation times were cut drastically, and for me, from start to finish was about 25 minutes, and I was very happy about that. But I have not spent less than an hour and a half, sometimes 2 hours here, mostly standing in line or sitting in the chair waiting. A majority of their staff have NO sense of urgency whatsoever, and it is so frustrating to watch. I know that they do not care one bit about their donors except as a thing hooked up to a machine to get plasma, and we don't have to come, but for goodness sake, can you at least TRY to respect our time, just a little?? If you are so short-staffed, then why don't you cut back on the number of appointments you allow per day?? I know the answer to that. You need our plasma, and don't care one bit about us, or respect our time. read more

Scheduled an appointment at the new Lewisville location for 3:10 PM. I wasn't seen by their physician for my physical until after 5:30. After finally getting into a donation lounger and donating about 280 units, the machine malfunctioned. Since I didn't get any saline transferred back I had to stay 30 minutes for observation. I finally got to leave 4 hours after my appt time. Then the following day I find that I didn't receive the first time donor bonus. Very unorganized and understaffed. read more

I love coming here twice a week for quite a while. It's a great way to make a few extra bucks while saving lives. I see a lot of the same faces each time and have a few favorite techs! There will always be a few people that have an issue based on the shear volume of people that they work with. It's impossible for every donor to have a perfect experience every time. I started donating plasma over a year ago here to help make ends meet while I'm finishing up my degree. At first I couldn't have had a better experience, friendly staff, well trained, and some good money. For the past couple months, there has been a rapid decline in the quality of staff here, that looks like it won't be improving anytime soon. The past 4 times I have been here I have had to come back in after donating to have someone re-wrap my arm due to the phlebotomists failing to properly wrap my arm, which results in me bleeding all over myself, my clothes, car etc. J am writing this review sitting in the front of the building with both my arms wrapped and an ice pack on my right (which I donate with every time) due to two separate phlebotomists failing to stick me properly, the first time resulting in some pretty horrible pain, multiple attempts to relocate the needle and stick the vein properly. Left arm, same story. I don't know what has happened, if the training of the employees has just gotten so much worse or if the supervisors or management have gotten relaxed in quality control. Personally, I am not in a position to stop donating because frankly, I need the money. If you're thinking about starting to donate at biolife for some extra cash, I would highly recommend thinking twice. If it's financially possible for you to not donate, DON'T DONATE!!! It'll save you some headache and you won't end up looking like me. read more

Kaylee the "nurse" bedside manner was horrible, with zero compassion or consideration of each specific situation. I hope she gets treated the same way she treats the patients, which in her case it's more like cattle. When I asked why there wasn't a list of things that would lead them to turn you down, kaylee said: "we can't list that many things, it would be about 100 pages". Ugh, 1 star because I didn't even get to donate plasma. I'm frustrated by the lack of communication between the staff and management. So the first time I tried to donate a few months back, they turned me down right away because my SSN card has my mother's maiden name on it, and I don't normally use that maiden name so all my other documents like my DL has just my first, middle, last name. I don't normally have an issue with this at other places, but I was like, fine whatever. Fast forward to last week, I was interested in trying again since their site said to call if I didn't have all the necessary documents. I called the day before donating to ask if there was anything I could bring in, like a pay stub or W2, the person on the phone said it would be fine as long as it had my full SSN on it. So... day OF donation, I called again, just because I wanted to make sure all would go fine since it would be a waste of my gas and time to drive there if there was a problem... a different person answered, put me on hold after I asked, said she was going to ask the manager, she said yes bringing a pay stub with my name and full SSN would be fine. Sooooo... I printed out my pay stub from my work office... honestly didn't think it would cause an issue that my paystub printed out about 3 pages long.. so my name ended up being on the first page, SSN on the second. But it was all the same file/document. Anyways... I finally got to Biolife, went to sign in at the front desk, immediately the lady at the counter starts shaking her head and saying it wouldn't work, blah blah blah. I immediately tell her that I spoke with 2 separate people to make sure this BS wouldn't happen. She takes my papers and goes to speak with someone I assume was a manager? Anyways after a few minutes she comes back and tells me it's not acceptable. Basically the only way I could donate was to revise my driver license. Psh, not going through all that hassle for this. I've never sold blood before but thought I'd give it a shot for a little extra money. I got myself ready for the first visit which was a bit of a pain. I skipped my morning coffee, ate some stuff I wouldn't normally eat, drank more water than I cared to in order to make sure I was hydrated, and I didn't smoke for 2 hours before going in. I get there and I was helped by a very rude lady, and everybody seemed rude. Employees all seemed disgruntled and were arguing with each other. I was there maybe 5 minutes, going through part of the sign up and not yet answering any actual health questions, and the lady suddenly turned me away. The reason? I "smelled a little smoky". You can be a smoker and donate, although you're supposed to abstain for about an hour beforehand (which I doubled just in case), but it had nothing to do with that. In fact she asked me if I had another shirt in my car I could wear and not be turned away. Now I didn't REAK of smoke. Like I said, I hadn't smoked in a couple of hours and before I left the house I showered, put on a little cologne/deoderant and put on some clothes fresh out of the laundry. I know that doesn't eliminate all smoke smell, but I don't know what else they expect me to do. I wouldn't have minded at all if it had something to do with the actual collection process or something like that, but from the way she was acting even before she noticed or said anything, it had more to do with her not wanting to work and just coming up with an excuse. She told me I could come back the next day and try again. I asked her why, if this was a problem, I passed their employees smoking outside as I came in (and saw it again as I left) and all she could come up with was "Well I don't smoke". Everytime I come to donate the staff is always friendly and polite. They like to make sure you are comfortable. The facility is super clean also including the restrooms. I take my kids to the playroom and they love it! Something to do for everyone. Thank you Biolife. read more

The vampires reside here! This facility takes your blood and spins off the plasma to be used for medical treatments. They return your red cells (unlike in donating blood), so you can donate up to two times a week. They pay for your time. The whole procedure takes about an hour to and hour and half after your first initial physical and donation. It's a great way to earn a little extra spending money each month. read more

Horrible place, they premanately deferred me from donating because they "forgot" to look at where my tattoos were, so when I came in to donate in a tanktop & now they could see the one on my chest, apparently I didnt tell them about it. BioLife Plasma Services in Denton, TX, needs to overhaul how it treats donors. Prior to COVID, I decided to donate plasma. The reason was largely motivated because my brother committed suicide and his family did not honor his wishes to donate organs, tissue, bone, etc. His tragic death was upsetting, let alone his family disrespecting his final wishes. BioLife asked me probing questions that were upsetting, and naturally, I was trying not to cry or lose composure. BioLife decided to delay my donation for one year. I waited over a year to insure I could show up without getting emotional when they were getting to their drill session. I learned I was permanently deferred and Marina said I was climbing on furniture and sleeping on my initial visit. When I spoke to a supervisor, Casey, Marina was corrected. It never said I was climbing on furniture. I informed them that both my brother and I are prior service and that lying can get service members court marshaled and dishonorably discharged. No one apologized for misconstruing the truth. At best, I was trying to hide and hold back tears over a year ago. This facility lacks sensitivity training towards those who have lost loved ones to suicide. It lacks integrity and the ability to interpret a person's feelings as he / she tries to maintain composure while trying to answer questions about suicide of loved ones. Their process was also inefficient as well as insensitive and inaccurate. read more

It deserves no stars at all! I went for a blood donation and physical examination because my last donation was more than 6 months ago. After waiting for at least 20 minutes to begin, I end up not being able to have my physical because I didn't have my social security card on me... I would understand if this was my first time, but asking someone to handle a social security card, even that they already had it filled and when asked I promptly gave the number, is too much. No, my driver's license, proof of insurance and vote card weren't enough for them... I had the patience of looking at their website, and there's no information at all that you suppose to present your social security card. So either Biolife has no competence in delivering good information to their donors or this was something that the employee invented his own rules... In any case, I won't come back there. I will stick with donating only blood for Red Cross. read more

Zero stars!!! Rude and Incompetent employees! Will never go back! I drove an hour from McKinney in traffic with my boyfriend to get to this place. When we arrive they tell us that because my boyfriend was "more than ten minutes late" (we were only 11 minutes late) for his appointment that he wouldn't be able to donate. After speaking with the supervisor, he allowed both of us to donate. The same girl who told us he couldn't donate took me back for a "vein check". After feeling my arms for about 2 minutes, I was told that I wouldn't be able to donate because my veins couldn't handle the needle which I think is just a way for them not to have to stay late to process another donor. So after wasting an hour drive here, only my boyfriend could donate and he would get a lousy $20. The staff is rude and immature. Don't waste your time! read more

NEVER ASK A NURSE ANYTHING EVER, TALK TO YOUR OWN DOCTOR. Been going for a while now, used the extra money for food and gas and other fun things, but now I'm permabanned. All started when I asked a nurse what kind of side effects I should be excepting, then they wouldn't let me make appointments until some doctor came in to review my question? um, ok. Now I'm banned for life at all facilities. I WILL NEVER DONATE AGAIN FOR AS LONG AS I LIVE, SO SAY BIOLIFE. Turns out the nurse filed a "reaction form" which seems kinda dumb because any kind of reaction at all, in any interval results in a ban for life so why not just make it a big red "PERMABAN" button on the wall you can slam and laugh in the patients face while glitter rains down from the celling. I have been going here for three years. I used to love this place. I was deferred for 6 months because of a tattoo. I came back, and not only did I have to wait an hour, they deferred me for 3 months because one of my arms had a small vein. This was never a problem before this new person decided it was. I've donated many times in this arm. I will never go here again. I don't donate for the money, I donate to help people. I'll donate blood at carter bloodcare. read more

I would give this location lower than one star if I could. I donate there frequently with my mother. The technicians are incompetent and more often than not, miss the vein or puncture it completely. Recently, my mother went in and donated, not only did they leave the needle in her arm when it was not in the vein, they allowed it to continue until there was a cantaloupe sized bruise on her arm (that is no exaggeration, I would post the picture if I could). Now, all the blood that they were supposed to return in her donation is sitting in her arm causing her lain. She is at risk for a serious infection and indefinitely deferred from donation because of their mess up. When she went in to confront them about this, all they told her was that she should go to the emergency room immediately. No apologies, nothing. Unorganized. Do not leave for any reason without communicating or your donation appointment will be cancelled. This came to a surprise to me because I was unaware but know better now. This should be set as a reminder prompted at the start of the questionaire to better serve those donating. The past few times I have visited I was skipped and had to wait alot longer than others to begin donating. I have found it much smoother to have someone more experienced do the stick if possible or it could be very painful for not all are as skilled as you would think. Other than that just more clarification for the rules set in place here would help alot. Usually everything runs a tiny bit better than today but today was a dissapointment being here.
