I do not recommend this place because when donating plasma they hit a nerve in my vein which caused extensive pain and a huge bruise by my vein. When I went to the person in charge they told me that I signed up for this to include death. Lots of problems here. Most recently they added a feature that allows for busy people on tight schedules to Zoe an appointment to donate. All corporate messaging in this states that walk ins are still accepted and appointments are not mandatory. However, in practice they are requiring appointments made through their app and making people who show wait for people that have booked appointments online who don't show up for them. This will increase your wait time to donate by 45 minutes to 1 hour additionally each time you donate. Highly recommended going to a plasma center that values the time of their donors, this is not the place. read more

Very clean and efficient. No lines or wait and you don't feel suffocated. Friendly staff and high payouts. The only draw is they pay by card and there's a min service charge for withdrawing cash or not using the account. Best in SA. read more

I used to love coming in here, had an awesome, smooth, check in procedure. They have recently added an appointment procedure which is NOT working smoothly. So far they have not made me wait, mainly because I have told them if they do I will not be back. Why are they messing with a great procedure? Seems like they don't want donors. read more

Love this location and it's clean. Staff is super nice and the whole experience has been pleasant. Would have given 5 stars but they recently took the chairs you sit while waiting away. Im not sure if it's to punish the donors but that's what it feels like. Apparently corporate though it would be fun for people to stand. I hadn't been back since before Christmas and I came in to half the check in kiosks still NOT working ? And if we already feel like cattle ,now they REMOVED the CHAIRS in the waiting room and make everyone stand in long lines to be checked in and then stand in lines to get in a chair . We were told it was to make things move faster , but even donor I have spoke to would like to have the chairs back ! Also a new sign from management saying if you have to use the restroom you must do it before you check in . My bladder isn't on a schedule ? Please put things back to the way it was , so we don't feel like cattle or less human ! read more

I've been to some decent places before, Biotest was located downtown san antonio, but its not their fault a lot of problems happened there, due to some people's bad behavior, or attitude. Biotest eventually moved away from downtown to get to a better location. I was currently going to CSL plasma for about 11 years, I was deferred before for having high blood pressure, which the MA's gave me a form to take to my doctor in jan-2014. I have been taking blood pressure medication for a while now, thats not a big deal. I went to another place located near bandera, loop 410, every place requires some proof of residence, and a SS card. I didn't have my card at the time, so I left. It was only when I went to make a cable payment at spectrum, I decided to go to Biotest, see if I can donate plasma there, i did have some proof of residence, and ss card. I was fortunate that I could donate there. I've only been there now for 3 months, but the donor center doesn't pay as much as some other donor centers. Though I started donating back in Oct-1981, off/on, its ok to donate plasma, with a lot of positive testimonials online, and thanks to Youtube, people can see what goes on in some donor centers across the nation. I say check around before donating blood, or plasma. the donor centers do have some basic guidelines/protocol to follow, also would take a look inside to see how sanitary the places are, back of the donor floor, and overall the lobby, and restrooms. not everywhere you choose to go will be at 100% cleanliness. if it isn't that clean, I suggest someone tells management about what needs to be corrected, and as soon as possible. It helps to be open-minded about donating, because not everybody is donating for the same reasons. Some places have a security guard, most places don't have anyone there, I suppose it depends on what company it is, and where they're located at. Before they had ATM cards, the donor centers were paying out in cash, but now they pay with the Debit/ATM cards, much safer, efficiently also. read more

The service by this place is so unacceptable. Having to work with people means having a good attitude. Some of us donate to save lives. Being treated as heroes is a plus and this place will make you not want to come back. Talked to the manager about a situation about something else and she turned. Every time I come here, I'm unimpressed with the employees (the ones at the desk; the people taking donations have been great so far). They are TERRIBLE about accepting coupons, and just knowing what's going on in general. Each time I have to repeatedly remind the staff I'm here (even when it isn't busy) multiple times otherwise they stop tracking my existence. They always all seem to be hanging out behind the file wall at the front, and you'll be lucky if someone sees you waiting to talk to somebody. To sign up to be a donor, I had to come back THREE times for nonsense that they should have covered in an initial brief so I didn't have to leave and go back on multiple occasions. As a former army medic, I was surprised to find out that the "physicians" are what they call 'physician substitutes', most of them aren't even nurses. Whatever you do, don't get Sara, she doesn't know what's going on besides the bare minimum relating to her job, and even then, she didn't know answers to basic questions. All in all this is really a terrible place to come, and if I could afford not to, I would never come back for as long as I live. Went in and passed all the tests, after waiting 2 hours and working my 12 hour night shift, only to be told (after reviewing the med list that is not acceptable) that I could not donate after I told them I took metformin in the past but am no longer diabetic, yet I am allowed to donate elsewhere. Why did they not just save everyone's time and just have the medication on the "bad med list"??! Unreal!!! read more

I have now donated enough to be seen as a "regular". I will review the good and the bad of this place. The Good. * The staff is professional and friendly. * The facilities are clean The Bad. * The kiosk machines are unreliable. It can take up to 30 minutes to sign in. It will often punch in my DOB and SS and it will not take...then I will move to another kiosk and it will all of the sudden inform me to wait in line. * There is rarely anyone working the front desk on a consistent basis. It would be nice if they would designate a person that only handled new patients or helped those with kiosk issues Overall the good outweighs the bad. read more

Do not waste your time going here if you're on metformin or any diabetic meds. I was there from 11:45 am until 2:25 for them to tell me you are permanently deferred from donating when you go back for a physical which by the way is not a Doctor or a Physician's Assistant it's a LVN playing the role of a Physician. This is something they can let people know before they waste their time filling out questionnaires. Any medicine that's not allowed should be on this list not just blood thinners. So people don't freeze while waiting. I told the LVN they need to tell people before and she responds she's the only one who knows that. My sister and I came in at 11:45 we waited over 20 minutes before even being acknowledged. I stood at the counter and saw a lady named Rose and another girl just look at me and then turn around to hide behind a wall. I went up there twice and the same thing was done. Rose said I needed more proof of address other than my driver's license I told her I had car registration in my car she said I couldn't use that because it has no address. I told her they mail it to me so yes it does have an address. She was rude telling me I needed to calm down. First off I was calm. I've been in the medical field for 25 years and some of your staff need customer training. I have been donating for almost two years now, and I have to say its the same thing with them some of the workers are rude as hell and they are slow especially when they are packed and it's not because they are busy it's because they are bullshiting around. If you have time to stop and talk for almost 10 min about what you did yesterday then you can set someone up or disconnect them. I like the extra cash but it's really not worth waiting an hour and half just to get a chair and then wait another 45 min to get set up and stuck it's crazy. Today I was refused the opportunity to donate because last week a technician, "Felicia" created a bruise on my right arm...no problem except that I was told I had "bruising" on my left arm...which I don't. I highly recommend that this place improve their training of their employees to avoid this from happening again. read more

If anyone wants to donate blood for money or even for just feeling good about yourself Biotest is absolutely horrible to go to. I went in for a first time donor to wait 2 hours then be denied because I have a tattoo. They gave me a form to have filled out by my tattoo parlor to state that they did my tattoo in a clean environment for me to donate. So, I go to the tattoo parlor and have it filled out and they don't have a scanner or a fax machine to send over the paperwork, which you would think wouldn't be an issue as the original copy was signed by the owner and had all his information on it. Wrong. I went back and handed it to them and they said they needed it in faxed format or emailed. So by that time I was pissed and went home. About 30 minutes of calming down I called biotest and asked if there was anyway to get the form to them other than fax or email which then the lady on the phone said no worries just bring in the original copy. So, I thought why not, she had put me on hold to ask someone so I gave it another shot. Wrong again. Apparently no one in that office knows what the hell they're talking abut because when I arrived they took the paperwork, made me wait fifteen minutes and then told me they couldn't take it due to it not being faxed or emailed. At this point I'm livid, and I go off, tell me what I need to do to get this done and I'll do it, I'm not about to spend my day off that you've already wasted 4 hours of to go run around. So I asked them can I have it faxed from HEB or does it need to come from the tattoo place. She said as long as it's faxed. WRONG AGAIN. I paid to have the form faxed from HEB only to drive all the way back and have them tell me it has to come from the tattoo parlor. So in end, if you want to waste your time, some gas, and lose your state of mind, by all means Biotest is the way to go. Although judging by the intelligence that runs the front office (which were nurses as well) I wouldnt trust them to put anything into my body period. And God help you if you've had a tattoo in the past year. read more

I went to the Bio Center on the 8 of June. It was not to bad that day. I had to wait for a computer for about 10 minutes. Because not all of them are working like before. I've been going about a year now. A friend showed me the place and I went and I like it at first. Now I can hardly go, because of my job. I got checked in and seated in a chair. I go called to the back, because I have not in a few weeks. I filled out some paper work and got called to the back to answer more questions. The doctor asked me if I had any schizophrenia in my family. The claim I was holding a conversation with myself. I never go to donate that day. I just walked out. I have a better place near my work. read more

This place is extremely rude..most of the front desk employees are so rude and always give you an attitude.. Me and my sister went there twice.. Fist timers..the Place at the front desk" looks like if we were invisible. That was the fist time there.. The literally made us wait 25 minutes before eventually someone asked us.. Can we help you!??? What that hell!??? So finally we signed up.. And after a 40 minutes process they told us to return the next day.. Cause they were tired and it was late!??? We come back next day'' and made a report ..the front desk idiot named Erika) feels like she is the only one.. That can speak Spanish. She told my sister if she speaks English or Spanish..idiot can she see.. That we spoke only English? How retarded is she???
