He recommended Dr. Andrews at Total Body Health Center in Placentia. I have been a patient here for a while now and see both Dr. Andrews and Dr. Manning (he goes by Dr. Josh) as needed. I had bad back pain many years ago, which thankfully was resolved, but I do still get adjustments periodically to stay "tuned up". Unlike many traditional chiropractors that just treat sore backs and joints with manual adjustments, Total Body Health goes a lot further and can treat joints, muscles, and pain with Active Release Techniques (ART), laser therapy, and Piezo wave therapy. I try to stay active by play sports, taking long walks frequently, and hiking from time to time. I rarely come in for just a back adjustment. I almost always have something that is sore, sprained, pulled, or hyper-extended that they can treat as well. All of my appointments always start with ten minutes on the back roller machine to stretch out my back and spine. I always say yes to turning on the heating pad on my back during this time. You can them set the intensity of the machine from 1 to 7 and I always do the maximum intensity. Then you are moved to a treatment room to discuss what is currently ailing you. If I don't do my long walks or stretches for a while, my psoas muscles always get very tight. They stay tight for a long time unless I come in and get them treated. Treatment for these sorts of things usually starts with ART which is a technique of applying pressure to certain points on your body and muscles while stretching them out. Sometimes, both doctors will come in the room to perform certain stretches. It can be a little painful at times, but the motto "no pain, no gain" comes to mind. I usually also receive laser therapy which involves several minutes of both broad beam and pin-pointed application of laser light to affected areas. This helps stimulate the body's natural healing processes on those areas. I usually only feel a slight warmth, but they will tell you to speak up if it gets too hot. You wear protective eyeglasses during this treatment. I also sometimes receive Piezo wave therapy which also promotes healing and helps to break up adhesions and any scar tissue. This treatment involves putting a gel on affected areas and moving around a probe which makes a continuous ticking sound. When they move the probe around, you may feel a dull pain in some areas. That helps the therapist identify spots where you may have adhesions or scar tissue. They will keep the probe on those spots a longer to try and help break them up. My appointments then finish with chiropractic back and neck adjustments. Dr. Andrews and Dr. Josh are both extremely friendly and professional, as are the other office staff and technicians who may work on you. They have Saturday appointments for people with busy schedules during the week. They have a pretty extensive gym, and even a hyperbaric chamber if your particular treatment regimen requires those things. I highly recommend Total Body Health Center.
