    Dual tracks from Birchcrest truck

Birchcrest was here Tuesday 10/14 to clear lines for Spectrum/RGE and left huge divots in my yard from their boom truck. I took pictures of the divots so I have them time stamped. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I called today to see if they were going to fill them in, I was told they didn't do work for Spectrum.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I insisted it was their truck, she came back and said yes it was them but the ruts were caused by the Spectrum truck today.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I was here and watching Spectrum who never even pulled into the driveway!! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Their foreman denied leaving the ruts, claimed he was here today and saw Spectrums truck.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Probably laying the blame on Spectrum so he wouldn't get in trouble. [[HIGHLIGHT]]She was so rude - avoid them at all costs.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

(I live in Pittsford, not San Francisco!!) Birchcrest trimmed a silver maple on our rear neighbor's property under an RGE contract. It was amazing to watch the guys climb that tree and skillfully drop large limbs that needed to be removed for proper power line clearances. Many of the branches came down onto our property. I was happy that they relocated my compost drums and several garbage cans that held mulch and topsoil, so they were not directly under the area where they dropped branches. What I was severely unhappy about was that the crew left before returning the things they moved and did not clean up the branches they dropped, or left across my lawn. I called them [right after I realized they had left] and nicely told them I expected them to return to move things back to where they were because they were too heavy for me to do it myself, but told them there was no urgency. Three weeks later, nobody has shown up. I picked up the branches and took them to the road last week because I knew the town was going to pick up lawn debris for a final time for the year. I am not a crabby old guy who is complaining about a trail of twigs that were left behind. I had multiple branches that I picked up that were taller than my 6 feet height. I estimate that the wood that was left behind was 45-50 pounds. I have hired several tree people over the years, and nobody has ever left such a mess after they left. In fact, I have complimented them for leaving my property in better shape than it was before they did their work. I cannot say the same for Birchcrest. I will NEVER consider hiring Birchcrest to do any work for me. I suggest that you do the same. Caveat emptor!

This is how they left my yard after being contracted by RG&E. No arborist worth a damn would leave a yard looking like this. Lucky me, I now get to figure out how to clean this up. When I called to share my experience with them they were incredibly rude. They also cut down large limbs that weren't near the utility line. It's shocking they can get away with this shoddy service. It's clear why RG&E uses them...you get what you pay for I guess ‍ Also, you're missing a great opportunity to position your business in a positive light when working on RG&E jobs. It's essentially free advertising, but instead of calling your company for future service, I'm adding to your collection of 1 star reviews.

Not as entertaining as when they climb

We just had Birchcrest do some major tree work - this is at least the third time they have taken down some big trees and done some trimming. Many of these trees were close to the house and thus why we wanted to use a reputable firm to do this work. We had no issues. And the bonus was watching these professionals climb and take down 75' trees - quite the entertainment! In addition Birchcrest has been working to rehabilitate our lawn after another lawn care firm killed it. Everyone is very professional and gives balanced advice - it doesn't feel like they are trying to sell you services you don't need. They even have told me things I could easily do myself. I highly recommend their services.

Company ruined 2 maple trees in my yard. Cut off branches growing towards my house and all the low branches that afford me privacy from 441 traffic. They also left their mess in my Mulch rings. They obviously knocked my mailbox off and remounted it backwards so I have to stand on 441 to get my mail. Lastly, when they came in the spring they cut the top off a tree and left it in my yard, but left the rest of the tree stuck in the power lines. I called the company and they said someone would come out that day. At the end of the day i had to call them for excuses about no one able to answer the phone because their supervisor was running the chipper all day. 2 days later they called me at 7:30am on my day off to tell me they are in the right and to call RGE. Nothing about my tree in the back they cut the top off, or my mailbox.

This is The first branch that came down naturally. But the rest of the tree started making noises. Birchcrest was great!

Two Large Trees Removed By Crane…read more We had two huge Popular (Cottonwood) trees in our back yard that were 3-1/2 feet in diameter at the base and about 80 feet high. They were also only about 3 feet from the foundation and beginning to stress it. If that was not bad enough there was no access to the back yard for equipment because we have a brook that runs behind the house. So we needed a company with a crane to remove the trees. Enter Flower City Tree... Steve, Andy, and their crew arrived at about 8am and the amazing tree removal began. Steve operated the Crane and his son, Andy, was put up into the first tree to secure the slings that will haul the 3000-5000 lb. sections of the tree over my house. He then cuts the top section of the tree. The crane operated by his dad, Steve, swings the tree section over my house and down to the rest of the crew on the ground. They maneuver it and cut it into smaller pieces that get sent into the mulch machine and the chips are blown into a truck. This was impressive to watch. These guys really know what they are doing. Everyone had headphones with a microphone to keep in contact with each other. After about 6 hours they were done. Aside from some residual sawdust, you would never know that they were even there. I'm very happy with their price and their work, so much so that I want to say something about their crane operation. Flower City Tree owns their crane. The operator, Steve, runs it several days a week and really knows how to run it. His son is in the tree and has to rig the tree with slings and ropes so it can be lifted over my house. When the tree is cut - there is no second chance. If the sling is not right then the tree will fall. Nobody wants a 1 ton piece of tree falling 40 feet through their house. Now, most crane operators pick up heavy steel beams on the ground and hoist it up. If it is not rigged right they can set it right back down and adjust the way it is in the sling. Tree cutters do not have that luxury. They have to get it right - the first time - and every time. If not there would be major consequences. And, Flower City Tree got it right every single time! My wife and I, and several neighbors, enjoyed watching this very professional team work their magic and Steve said something to me that explained it all. He said, "That's my son up in that tree and the workers are my friends. We can't afford even one small mistake. We are very careful." That about sums it up. If you need a company that has great prices, with caring, professional owners and employees that do a great job then look no further. I have used other services in the past and I can say that I will never use anyone other than Flower City Tree for my tree work. Thank you so much to Steve, Andy, Julie, and the rest of the crew... I was amazed that they had the whole thing down, cut up and removed, in about three hours. I was expecting an all day job. Everything was left in good order. The condition of the tree was that it was partially rotted so I worried some part would fall on my roof (as happened a few months ago) but they have amazing equipment that can handle, I would expect, just about any situation. Very pleased with this company.
