This company showed up with RGE as their employer. Destroyed the entire tree line of my property. Cut down a 40 year old tree that was only 15 feet tall a foot from the ground and was no where near the the power lines. Destroyed the fence, crushed the slide on my kids swing set, lied and told my neighbor RGE would remove the branches they left in the street. Even though they had a chipper with them. Apparently when RGE is footing the bill us small people don't matter. This company destroyed our yard and walked away without a second thought. Birch tree came to clear lines for a power outage with RG&E. They cut the absolute minimum of branches - just enough to allow RG&E to put up a power line. It took 4 men to cut the branches! And all afternoon. Very uncommunicative. I had to go out and ask why they were sitting in their nice warm trucks while I had no heat or power. The trees that were cut were not mine but they dropped the branches into my yard. I guess because I reported the outage. They did not clean up the branches. RG&E says they don't clean up branches and if I want them cleaned up, call Birchtree and pay to have that done! What a racket! Very disappointed. In 2010 I had major landscaping done it was over $50,000. The designer way oversold me as the plants are not spaced out far enough and are too many for the areas planted. But that is not the problem, I was never schooled on how to care for the water feature I had to research the maintenance myself,but again that is not the problem. A dogwood tree they planted had to be replaced in 2011 it was under guarantee but I had to argue to get it replaced,but they did. The problem is the one they replaced it with has never grown and is so feeble I had the cornell cooperative come out. They diagnosed it to have girdled roots. So After looking and hoping fertilization and watering would make it flourish I decided to dig it up and see if I could trim the root ball and save the tree.As I dug carefully around the roots I noticed the tree was very loose. When I lifted it pulled right out I noticed the wire mesh was never removed nor was the burlap cut back. There were only sucker roots and no main shoots after being in the ground for almost 10 years I don't know if it will survive but I could never recommend Dave Dailey or birchcrest to anyone in good conscience! These guys are great! They are doing the city a major service by trimming around the power-lines. Its a scary job and they do it safely. RGE doesn't pay to have the trees trimmed nice, just safe. In emergency situations, RGE does not pay Birchcrest to remove debris from peoples yards, so they have to leave it, resulting in some bad reviews that are completely unwarranted against Birchcrest. But, my house is now safe thanks to these guys, the limbs are all clear of the line, and they cleaned up after themselves. Thanks guys! read more

I asked them to come out and give me an estimate on trimming 3 large maple trees in my yard. I had already gotten a couple estimates and wanted to get one more. When the guy got to my house he refused to give me an estimate and stated that any trimming would be harmful to the trees. What an idiot! Birchcrest is just looking for big jobs since they started working for the city. I will never call them again. Don't waste your time having them come out unless you have a huge job for them to do. read more

Very poor costumer service!! They were doing work at my neighbors house and damaged my gazebo well on my property. They said they were going to replace it that day. 3 days later I don't hear from them. So I called the office. They wanted to give me 100.00, which I couldn't even replace my property with that amount. I said that was not the right amount and had a copy of the ad where I bought it. Their response was things depreciate over time. Week and half later I still have damaged property and no check to replace it. I would never trust them to do anything at my house. Brad was on time, professional, great and super knowledgeable. Gave me lots of great ideas and free easy money saving tips for our new home landscape, lawn and trees. Unfortunately our Ash trees were already to badly infested with emerald ash borer to be saved. The crews did an awesome job. Very efficient and experts at what they do. They were able to take care of the big dead trees close to our house with no problem at all that I was worried about doing myself because of the size and way they were already leaning. The stump grinding crew came when we were not at home but gave us a call ahead of time and we could not even tell they were there with how thorough their clean up was other then the fact we no longer had the stumps, haha. The regrade and new flower beds in front definitely add to the curbside appeal, already getting positive comments from our new neighbors. After getting several estimates to remove a large tree from my property, I was surprised to see that Birchcrest was the most affordable, as I was expecting them to be much more expensive. Birchcrest was hired by Rochester Gas and Electric to trim branches from power lines in our neighborhood. They had come and what a disaster. Total disregard for anyones property. . Broke our fence, broke several pots in our backyard and trampled our plantings. Cut down our bush that was no where near the power lines. They left all kinds of debris and broken branches, tree stumps in our yard as well as our neighbor next door and behind us.Some wood that you would need a truck to remove! Totally destroyed the neighbors new landscaping that they just put in this year. They also left trunks of trees below the power line like totem poles and other trees with broken branches hanging. I called RG+E to complain and they stated that they leave the wood for the people for fires. Wouldn't you #1 ask the homeowner first if they need this wood and #2 the branches they left were of no use for making a fire. It took my husband all day to clean this up. I don't know if they were paid by RG+E to do this work but I have had many companies come to trim and remove trees from our property and you would never know they were in the yard. Unprofessional!! I know many people throughout Rochester and will be sure to pass the word along on our experience and would never recommend them to anyone! read more

Birchcrest is hired by RG&E to cut down limbs near power lines. They butchered all my trees, but I'm not mad about that. I'm disgusted with the way they left my yard. There were branches everywhere, including the culvert that surrounds my yard, which would cause huge issue if we had a hard rain. Birchcrest is one of the most expensive tree/lawn companies in town and if this is what you pay for, they are rip off artists! Again, I am disgusted! read more

Several years ago we had Birchcrest out as well as a number of other companies to give estimates for tree trimming on our property. This was not a small job as the estimates were all in the several thousand dollar range. We did not go with Birchcrest at that time. Well the trees need trimming again and we were not happy with the prior company so we called Birchcrest and were only going to get a quote from them and told them we were disatisfied with the prior company. They took the info but when they found out we did not choose them previously they called back and said they would not come out on for an estimate only on a "consult" which meant a chargeable $$ call. WOW! Talk about arrogance, you would think they would welcome the opportunity to gain our business but since they seem to have their feelings hurt they have earned this one star review instead of our business. All I can say I WOW! We are so happy with the landscaping we had done! They built a stone wall in the front of my house that gradually gets taller as the land slopes and added plants, a tree, and mulching. It looks incredible. We had high expectations after we saw the design on paper (which was very professionally done), but they FAR exceeded our expectations! It rained for the 3 days we were having the work done, but these men worked in the pouring rain to get it done on time. You can tell they are very talented and have an incredible work ethic. Birchcrest came through my neighborhood trimming trees away from power lines a couple of weeks ago. I hadn't been out in the yard because of weather since then; when I walked through my front yard today I was appalled by what a mess they had left on the ground, in addition to trampling through some of my shrubs, I've been a landscaper since 1983, and I have never seen such shoddy work. Birchcrest was on my property after being contracted through RG&E. I pulled in my driveway (no one was home prior to me arriving) to find TOO much bafoonery. I peek into my backyard to see my nice patio chair far out in back of my yard where they were working. They went ON my deck, REMOVED a chair off of MY DECK, and used it to either sit around on, or use as a step-stool-- either way, INAPPROPRIATE. A few of the workers tried to be helpful to my concerns-- I asked for the supervisor. Worker told the supervisor I wanted to talk to him. The supervisor (or crew leader) heard me talking to the other workers as he walked toward me, THEN- without even addressing me, must've thought I was being petty, turned right around and rolled his eyes and walked away. So the ones trying to appease me went to go back to my backyard to move my furniture back, and when they went to open my gate door, THE GATE DOOR FELL OVER. These people took my gate door OFF the hinges, and used the latch to keep it upright and APPEAR to be normal, instead of having INTEGRITY and stating they broke it off accidentally. But instead, they tried to cover it up by propping it upward. The one worker was condescending and dismissive of me addressing my broken gate door, stating "this happens all the time. You're not the first one. Call the number left on your door. Call the number left on your door" in a nasty tone- which is beside the point- my ULTIMATE problem was some fool breaking my gate and NOT saying anything about it. They disrespected my property in more than one way. Entering my deck and removing and using my furniture. Breaking my gate door and PROPPING IT UPWARD, and not saying anything. It's sad that the poor actions which may have been from ONLY a few of these workers, reflected on ALL of them. AND the company. I thanked the few ones who were kind regardless, unknowing of their coworkers actions, but it's sad that it was overshadowed by the poor actions of the others. We hired Birchcrest to take down four trees, grind several old stumps, and plant two new trees. They did a fabulous job. The following season, one of the new trees was not doing well. They replaced the tree within a month at no charge. Very impressive. Would highly recommend this company. read more
