Love the design and ambiance of this bakery! It's very aesthetically pleasing. The cupcakes were really good. They have the February special cupcake which is the Raspberry Amaretto and it's very moist and delicious. It's one of the best cupcakes I've had! I wish they would make this a regular in their menu. We also got the Chocolate Sea Salt which was good as well but I still prefer the raspberry one. We also wanted to try the other ones so we got a half dozen mini cupcakes and they put it in this cute egg carton box. Coming back here to try their food. This is a very quaint bakery, tucked away in Highland Park Village. I almost didn't notice it, and didn't realize it was open until I got up close. The rustic look and feel inside was lovely and welcoming. However, I felt it hard to tell pricing based off their script font on their menu boards. I just wanted something small and quick- and with it being so hot, some cold water. I chose a mini vanilla with vanilla icing cupcake- a staple and a water bottle. Apparently this is a San Antonio place owned by Armie Hammer's wife, which I guess explains why The Man From U.N.C.L.E. was playing at the little TV at the kiddie table. Nothing says kiddie fun like watching Armie Hammer get strapped to a torture device and electrocuted. I happen to know because this place was so darn crowded, we had to sit at the kiddie table. Yes, in little kiddie chairs. Eating our little kiddie cupcakes because they were only moderately outrageously expensive (roughly $2 each depending on how many you buy), as opposed to the $3.50 to $4 regular cupcakes. I literally could have eaten those little kiddie cupcakes in a single $2 bite. Ouch. (Don't worry, I ate them in two bites instead of one because it's Highland Park; I didn't want to get kicked out for indecency.) The Elvis cupcake was fine but nothing special if you've had this combination before (peanut butter and banana -- this one was dominated by peanut butter flavor; I'd like to taste more banana with a hint of PB). The highlight of the chocolate peppermint (seasonal?) cupcake was the frosting, which was incredible...the chocolate itself was pretty standard, but fine. The elderflower cupcake, which I had been the most excited to try, sadly was just meh...the flavor was so light that it mostly just tasted like vanilla. Overall, the cupcakes were fine (and nicely moist, plus the egg crate packaging was darling) but not worth the outrageous price tag. We stood in line for about 10 minutes to pay, even though there was only one person in front of us (who did not seem to have anything complicated). The clerk at the register kept wandering away and then coming back and hitting a few buttons on the ipad checkout and then wandering away again. Never did figure out what on earth she was doing, nor why any of the other clerks behind the counter couldn't man the second, unused checkout. We were there on New Year's Eve, so maybe it was more crowded than usual since everyone (like us) was taking advantage of their last chance to eat cupcakes before new year's resolution diets started? I saw a few people eating sandwiches that looked delicious. Next time I want to spend $10.50 on a sandwich.........I'll be back...? read more

I stopped by for a quick cupcake and cookie on a Sunday afternoon. The environment is adorable and ideal for a coffee date or quick lunch. I ordered a number of the mini cupcakes. I loved the presentation in the egg carton. Each flavor I sampled was delicious and the perfect size. Despite being miniature sized, the cake was still soft, and the buttercream was not overly sweet. I am picky about cupcakes as most are prettier than they taste. Thankfully this is not the case at Bird Bakery. The grilled cheese and other sandwiches looked incredible, so I will have to return for lunch. Cute hidden gem in the perfect area! I already love highland park, and this restaurant to made me love it more. They have desserts, coffee and even amazing lunch items. I ordered their veggie sandwich which was nothing short of amazing! It had a lot of flavor and you could tell it was fresh. I also had a vanilla latte with almond milk that was pretty good as well. The service was great, and the staff was very attentive. When I heard Bird Bakery was opening up in HP Village I thought about how dissapointed I was that Celebrity Bakery had closed. These thoughts were quickly replaced with contentment and excitement. I walked in the day after the soft opening and was pleasantly surprised. The entrance is accompanied by a nice small patio with tables. The decor and ambiance is very welcoming & I was quickly surprised with the variety of the menu. Sandwiches, teas, salads, cupcakes, pies, you name it. A nice lady was walking around ensuring guests were accommodated, I quickly learned that was the owner Elizabeth. She's fantastic. She explained her philosophy when it comes to rewarding yourself without compromising health and nutrition. The menu items here are made fresh in house, many gluten free, vegan, fresh. To my surprise she brought out FRESHLY baked chocolate chip cookies RIGHT OUT OF the oven. I mean...does it get more fresh and authentic than that? I couldn't resist. I happily ordered one and quietly enjoyed it with my hot cup of jasmine green milk tea. The cookie melted in my mouth. Highland park and Celebrities used to go hand in hand. I can't tell you how many dozens we bought for grade school events. But then Celebrities was sold and their quality suffered and they moved. Then this new place Bird Bakery opened and we were skeptical, how could they match the history we so loved with Celebrities? Then we ate there, and we were blown away! Their cupcakes are the best we've ever tasted (sea salt caramel, trust me...). Their sandwiches and soup and coffee are wonderful and the decor just exudes charm. It's been a very stressful several weeks of this and that. My first thought was to go to Bird Bakery here in the Highland Park Village for a well deserved treat treat. Why not, survival should be marked with special naughty desserts. With several more grey hairs and additional wisdom to boot, here is to life circa 2018. My idea of a truly decendent splurge is Bird's very limeicious Key Lime Tart. It's a big o round hunk of homemade heavenly tart and dense cheesecake with a moist graham cracker crust. Pretty green lime zest tops this citrus delight. It's a filling treat treat, especially on a very hot Texas 100 scorching humid day. A couple sinful bites will fill that cravings of yours. Of course, it is plenty big to share, but who needs that foolishness. Forgive me Mrs. Emily post, but let go my Key Lime Tart and all is well. After several visits to this busy busy Highland Park sheshelala hob knobbing it with the Jones's. It can be tough to find a table, clean or not. Parking is even worse, especially on the weekends. A little tip here darlings, park one street over on Livingston, where there are two hour limits and walk two minutes to this tre tre adorable chic bakery. It worked perfectly for me today, with a big beautiful tree shading my very dark colored car. Oh I am so thankful for the little things in life. Being a bit hungry, as well as wanting a lime tart treat, their savory Tomato Tart sounded interesting. It was suppose to be heated, but it wasn't really. The kitchen apparently pre cooks this and then finishes off the rest when it is individually ordered, which makes sense. However, my tomato tart was still very cool coldish inside, with barely melted salty cheese. So being the low maintenance patron that I am. Truly. I picked out the red, ripe cheery tomatoes and gladly enjoyed those along with the crispy and well cooked outside crust. Wanting to let the staff know of this little hiccup, I was offered a complimentary cookie. That works. I wasn't looking for a refund or comp at all. Just happy to pass along some needed feedback so they can re-tweek their recipe & cook times. Personally, for the warmer months, more tomatoes with spinach, kale, or other greens added in, would be lovely. Thick mounds of melted cheese is just too heavy in the heat. ..just my opinion here. In the colder, cooler months of the year, the recipe can be recalibrated. Overall, staff is very friendly. Even though they seriously need more hands to help make busy weekend days run smoother. Adding a busser to just maintain the tables makes more sense than having the one girl be the expeditor and busser, along with delivering to go orders. Having on call staff and management back up high traffic flow is where some of the less than happy Yelp reviews have stemed from. The food and baked goods here are of course made daily, steps away in their sweet Bird kitchen. Try stopping by on a weekday first and then get here early for a weekend visit. Bird Bakery is so cute inside and their dessert is delicious!! First off, parking can be a pain since it's located in a pretty busy shopping area. But once you've got a spot, relax and treat yourself to a delicious brownie! I've had their latte, brownie, and sandwich/soup combo here (3 separate occasions). Everything has been delicious! Their tomato basil soup was the perfect pairing to my sandwich. This is not an ideal place to study though. A lot of people come for lunch or to eat some dessert and just chat. If you buy their mini cupcakes, it comes in a cute egg carton! What does bother me though is that the menu an be hard to read since it's ALL in calligraphy. And another one of my pet peeves is that there are no prices on their menu. But other than that, I enjoy stopping by Bird Bakery for lunch and dessert! read more

One of my favorite bakeries, in general, and in the Dallas area. A chocolate chip cookie is good more or less everywhere, as long as it's soft, but these are always *really goood*. Their spicy brownie is really good as well. The cupcakes can be a hit or mess, and I think it depends on when you go. Bird, like most bakeries, makes theirs daily, so if you go at the end of the day, you'll have last pick of the ones that have been out all day. This is the same as everywhere. I love the red velvet cupcake because it has a dash of cream cheese frosting inside it. The coconut is very good as well. The service is usually good, sometimes the workers are not that friendly, but it happens. The best lunch in Highland Park Village! I venture here to often for their California turkey. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is warm. Every time I'm in I see someone I know, which is such a treat! Their hibiscus mint lemonade tea is a must try. The wait for food is never too long. Highland Park Village claims to be a luxury, but they have a huge problem with parking, it is almost impossible to get anywhere and at least it takes more than half an hour to find something. The Bird Bakery is located inside this luxury center and is a small coffee store in the form of a pencil case. We ordered food ( tuna melted cheese sandwiches plus coffee and were very disappointed with the taste. Everything was very bad. I still had a long burp and increased acidity from this food. I actually made a last minute decision to try this place. I wanted pecan pie for Thanksgiving but most places were sold out so I called ahead of time to make sure they had plenty of pies in stock and they did. I walked in and I was immediately greeted by an associate. I purchased one Vanilla Cupcake, The Elvis, Southern Pecan Pie and four Chewy Pecan Squares. I waited until after our Thanksgiving meal to sample dessert. I took a bite of the Vanilla Cupcake and was not impressed at all. My husband said The Elvis was just ok but dry. The cupcakes did not taste fresh so I tossed the rest of my cupcake in the garbage. The mini Southern Pecan Pie did not have the perfect ratio of pie crust/filling. Too much crust and not enough filling. The taste of the pie was ok. I didn't think the desserts could get any worse but it did. The last dessert I wanted to sample was the Chewy Pecan Square. I love pecans and couldn't wait to take a bite. Unfortunately for me, one bite was all it took before pulling a piece of hair from the Chewy Pecan Square.
