I stopped by Lubella's Patisserie this morning, and I'm still thinking about it. The croissant was unreal--perfectly golden, insanely crisp on the outside, and buttery with that delicate, airy interior. The crunch was real. Even my boyfriend, who's been to France, said it's the best croissant he's ever had... and honestly, I agree. I ordered a latte, and while the presentation was beautiful, the taste completely stole the show--smooth, rich, and perfectly balanced. The whole place has such a welcoming, family feel with gorgeous aesthetics that make you want to linger. And we did. Toward the end of our visit, a musician was setting up, and when we asked if we could stay a bit longer to hear her, they kindly welcomed us to. Not only that--they surprised us by bringing out fresh coffees for both of us. That level of hospitality, combined with truly exceptional food and drinks, made this such a memorable experience. Ever since I tried their almond croissants, there is no going back. The butter used inside is super rich in flavor and texture. I'd also recommend trying their carrot pastries as they are strong in flavor and made to perfection. If you ever get a chance to stop by, please do. Both were good, but felt a little pricey for what you get. The almond croissant was the best I've had in Dallas. It was fresh, flaky, sweet and delicious. I'll preface this review with saying I visited the restaurant at 12:30 on a Sunday. The restaurant was very cute, Parisian charm in Dallas. There is indoor and outdoor seating and the restaurant's style is just as the name suggests, a lovely, light patisserie . The staff was very friendly and attentive. Everything in the glass display looked tasty and asthetic. Unfortunately, I was disappointed to find that most of what I order was stale and hard. I order the almond croissant, bread pudding and their classic chocolate cake. The first two were so hard and stiff, they tasted a day old. I've visited bakeries late in the day before and still didn't experience pastries in that condition. The chocolate cake however was very moist and delicious, not too sweet and the right amount of density. The real downside is that I stopped in before a 4hr drive home. I was already thirty minutes away before before I tried anything, so going back was not an option. Considering how good the cake was, I'll give them another try the next time I'm in town, but patisserie with stale baked goods is the definition of a failed mission. read more

Ordered cafe de olla and a cherry danish , first time visit. WOW! For those not in the know cafe de olla is coffee with milk, pinion (brown raw sugar) and cinnamon. That is how coffee is served in Mexico. Delicious! The cherry danish was served warm (fresh juicy cherries floating in cream cheese cloud!) This was honestly one of the worst dining experiences my wife and I have ever had. We came in because people kept talking this place up, but it was a disaster from start to finish. We ordered two Cafés de Olla, chilaquiles, the Steak & Eggs Frites, toast, and breakfast potatoes. Our server only brought one coffee, which was fine, but when she came back with the second, it wasn't even close to Café de Olla. It was just regular coffee with some cinnamon dust on top and none of the sugar it's supposed to have. We asked again, and they still got it wrong. At that point, we gave up on the coffee entirely. Our sides came out before any actual food, and then after a long wait, my plate finally arrived but my wife's didn't. My dish was a disappointing mess. The hollandaise sauce was clumpy and more broken than the shells for the eggs used to make it, the steak was overcooked and absolutely not the ribeye the menu claims it is. The eggs were very undercooked and half the whites were raw and liquid. But the worst part, and the part that honestly lost us, was what later happened with the chilaquiles. They made them, gave them to the wrong table, those people started picking from them, and then the staff brought that same plate over to us like nothing happened. I don't care how busy you are, that should never happen in any restaurant, let alone one charging these prices. We didn't eat anything. Everything was either wrong, poorly made, or downright unsanitary. We paid and left because it was all honestly so exhausting we didn't have energy to even try to argue. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone looking for a place to dine in. I originally left feedback for management as suggested by the signs on their tables but never received any kind of response. If I could give a lower rating I would but unfortunately I cannot. read more

Cute little café with a cozy vibe, but unfortunately, I won't be returning. We spent around $150 on a variety of pastries to sample a good selection, unfortunately most of them missed the mark. Only one stood out as decent, which was disappointing given the overall cost. The staff in the bakery section were friendly, knowledgeable, and served us quickly, which we appreciated. Since we had several items to try, we grabbed a seat at one of the few available tables (the café has about 10 or fewer tables in total). While we were dining in, a man who appeared to be the owner or manager was making the rounds and greeting other tables. However, he noticeably skipped ours several rounds the entire time. While I can't speak to his intentions, but he seemed to engage warmly with tables that appeared to share his Latino background. It's important for any business, especially small ones, to treat every customer with the same level of respect and hospitality, regardless of race, gender, or background. I believe in supporting local businesses, and I hope this feedback encourages a more inclusive approach to customer service. Today was my second visit to Lubella's and lunch was even better this time. All of our meals were delicious. Entree #1 was ordered by my father--the salmon lunch special that came with a tasty mix of asparagus, mushrooms, and zucchini, a fantastic potato cake, and an arugula side salad. My mother ordered the pork schnitzel that came with a green salad and potatoes. I had the quiche Lorraine which was incredibly fluffy (not at all dense like the quiche I make at home) and a Caesar salad that had the great addition of chopped tomatoes. Even the iced tea (ginger peach) was special and delicious. I follow Lubella's on Instagram and I have to say that seem to be working hard to deliver an elevated experience at this unlikely intersection. They are one of several newish businesses at Ferguson and Gus Thomason. This shopping center has always seemed like it might have been something special back in the day. Luellas has gone seated restaurant. We were seated promptly, and the waitperson appeared a few minutes later to take our order. We ordered a BLT for $15.50 and a poblano chorizo quiche for $14.90. The quiche was tasty and came with a nice salad. The BLT, on the other hand, was disappointing. Not being a fan of avocado or cream cheese (on a BLT?), I asked that they be left off and replaced with mayonnaise. When I got my sandwich, it was dry. There were a few pieces of bacon, lots of lettuce, and a couple of slices of tomato. It was accompanied by some potato chips that looked like they came from the bottom of the bag. Definitely not a $15 plate. A few other things were that the music was really loud, causing people to speak even louder. The staff walks around with headsets. You have to make sure you speak loudly so the server can hear you. I find this completely unprofessional looking to have servers wearing headsets in the dining room taking orders. Headsets are for drive-through. All in all, while the bakery is great at what they do, the seated restaurant portion is underwhelming and lacks value. I'll stick to ordering from the bakery and taking it to go. read more

I've only been to this business a couple of times but each time I've come away with far more pastries than I planned to buy. And glad I did. On this visit my friend and I shared the egg danish which included bacon and cheese on delicious and flakey croissant base, also oatmeal cookies which were thick and hearty. The blueberry muffin was large and dense. The blueberry scone was also tasty and substantial. Yet to be tried are their croissants both plain and chocolate. Also the variety of croissant sandwiches which tempt you at the entry. The ambiance is spare but classy. There are tables both inside and out front. Service is helpful and friendly. I do recommend adding some sort of protein to the club. It was a little soft without it? But to be fair, I took off the lettuce and tomato. It wasn't for me with the eggs. After a long drive, we went here on a Sunday morning to get pastries. The Croissants are hard and dry and you have to use force to tear them. Obviously they don't understand that a true French Croissant should be light and flaky, and a light golden color, theirs are too dark.
