I have thick brown naturally wavy hair. My hair has a tendency to look wild if not cut by a stylist who is good at dealing with this type of mane. Madison is really talented at doing the kind of cut that makes hair like mine behave with almost no effort on my part. Even when I am due for a trim, the sides never stick out like airplane wings & I don't have to bring out the hair gel to glue down wavy ends that stick out in miscellaneous places. The Birdcage is not the cheapest shop in Olathe, but you get what you pay for. Also, Birdcage stylists are not double or triple-booked. The Birdcage respects clients' time and makes it a priority to get everyone in and out on schedule. There's lots of parking just a few steps away & a full-time receptionist who handles walk-ins and phone calls so the stylists never have to stop what they are doing to help out. I see Madison every 4-5 weeks. She has never cancelled, rescheduled, or kept me waiting. She is cheerful, competent, & always gives me her undivided attention. I look forward to seeing her. This salon is amazing! I had Madison as my hairdresser and she knew exactly what to do. I asked for a couple of inches off of my hair and she made great recommendations on how to style it. She was very helpful. When she offered to add a few layers to my hair I accepted and she did a fantastic job. She promised not to make the layers choppy and she lived up to that promise. She was gentle and made sure that I was comfortable. I am sure that this salon will exceed anyone's expectations. Birdcage Salon also has many haircare products if you are looking for those. Madison put a product in my hair when she was styling it and it worked very well. I bought the product from the salon and it has worked wonders on my hair. I would definitely recommend this salon for anyone looking for a great haircut and great hospitality. 10/10. read more

The Birdcage is an EXCELLENT choice in a Salon. MUCH different than Great Clips and Fantastic Sams. it seems like some people in those "salons" don't really know what they are doing. All the stylists at The Birdcage Salon are very knowledgeable and helpful. I went in today for an all over color (My very first time getting my hair professionally colored!) They REALLY care about your hair. they want what is best for you and are pretty affordable. I've met several people who claim to be professional and they charge an arm and a leg. The Birdcage offers Excellent Service. It's worth every penny. Definitely going back there. My hair looks FABULOUS. I was desperate for a good haircut. I recently had a birthday and after multiple times getting bad haircuts and bad color jobs I felt like I deserved to find a place that could give me a great haircut and color. I read some reviews and decided to make an appointment with Nathan - one of the owners at the Birdcage Salon. I had never tried them before. I walked into the salon with medium length frizzy over colored hair. I looked terrible. After my appt I walked out with a great cut and color. I felt like a different person. Last June ('12), I was suddenly fed up with my hair. I called and got in with Emily. She was newer and answering the phone. I was a little bit nervous not knowing how much experience she had. She was (and is) as sweet as can be. I am very picky and have hard to work with hair. Emily is very cautious not to go too fast and chop off where I don't want her to. She has colored, highlighted and cut my hair several times now. A couple times I wanted it tweaked a little and they worked me right in. Great, friendly place. I just moved from Cleveland where my go-to salon use Aquage and Biomega products (made in Chagrin Falls, Ohio) and I doubted I would be able to find a salon with these special products in KC! I love this salon! The whole vibe is happy, laid back and very trendy. I get all over lightener on my hair and it always turns out the perfect ashy blonde. It is several processes but Nathan takes his time and is very thorough when doing this color. Ashley recently cut and styled my human hair wig and it looks fantastic! I have received many compliments on it and love the edgy bob style she gave me. Since a human hair wig is quite an investment, I would not trust just anyone with it. Ashley was the ultimate professional! Every visit I get exactly what I want, which is hard in this day and especially when most stylist that have been in the industry for awhile do what they think is better.
