The foie gras is not something I would normally eat, but my boyfriend loves that stuff so we went with it. I enjoyed it more than he did. It was not a classic foie gras, it was smoother with a creamier texture and more buttery flavor. Eating it with the fig jam and "light as clouds" toast made it absolutely delicious! I enjoyed every minute and mouthful--would definitely seek this place out again even though I live an hour away! We enjoyed ourselves too much to take pictures!

If you've been to the big bowling lanes, you know there's only so much disco you can add to a 1000 lane bowling facility that extends so far into the horizon that you lose sight after the 20th dancing bowling ball video screen. Just as there's only so many colors you can tint an icee, there's also only so much grease you can bake into a frozen pizza to make it worth the $12/drink the corporate alleys are going to charge you for that diabetes drink and heart attack pizza. Consider the alternative: this small, tiny "bowling alley that could" in the basement of a nondescript building you'd never know has been operating for nearly a century (?!) because it's continually delivered a great experience for a fun sport that doesn't actually need grease and disco balls and food coloring to be fun. That simple claim to fun fame's in no small part due to the uniqueness that duckpin bowling offers, but even more so because of its (new) owners who spent years bowling here and just really want you share their love of the sport with you. Turns out, loving what you do matters. North Chelmsford Lanes is the bowling equivalent of the best speakeasy you've ever been to: hard to find, easy to miss, and impossible to forget. So, my friend, skip the blue icee, greasy pizza, and noisy video games with "loyalty cards" you have to recharge six times/hour while going deaf while jumping your car over the 20th flaming bridge car racing game and come here instead to just bowl a few strings with a friendly, welcoming staff who are pouring every dollar you spend back into a special place that's this area's lucky to have around. NCL is just an amazing experience and local time machine that whisks you back to a golden age of bowling, where bowling and good company is enough for a great night out.

The loaner clubs are horribly bad. When we finished the ice cream was still closed. We promised our son mini-golf so we left and went to Sullivan Farms only 5 minutes down the road. (Great ice cream and friendly staff) We came back to do the mini-golf. They have a great layout and fun design but the water features were off and the greens torn in multiple places on each hole. Not to mention there was 2 women with 2 children using it as a playground. One ran right up and took 2 of our golf ball's. The woman took her time to collect her child and give us the balls back but never apologized. Not sure why they were letting them run around like that. But no one from the place did anything. We won't be back.... Seems like there is a lot that needs improving for the mini golf and for the range I suggest having your own clubs. The only upside was the looks of the bumper boats and batting cages... I wasn't spending more money to try it so only basing that off the looks of them.

Everything is original and everything works. You don't get the same juiciness as a pub burger, but it's plenty moist and has nice crunch and good beef flavor. It's the ultimate ensemble piece where every ingredient shines. Comes with very crisp and very lengthy fries. Can upgrade to potato tots, but the fries are better. Chicken Tenders: Here there's less crispness but the namesake tenderness comes through, as does the fiercely piquant Buffalo sauce. Not elite, but certainly good, and very good value. Best item to have with a beer from the bar. Nachos: Crisp and warm in the chips, light on the toppings. In fairness, I didn't try any of the protein options (my wife is vegetarian), so maybe that's the way to go, but nothing special here. Tenders are the better beer snack. Steak and Cheese: Solid. Moist. Fresh Roll. Ham Chowder: This was a special and it was indeed special. One of the best soups I ever had, studded with a profusion of tender roasted ham chunks, along with bacon and I think tinier bits of onion and celery. That cure flavor came through big time. Salty, perhaps, but no problem. I bought extra to take home. It's a country club, but don't be intimidated. It's not so much a bunch of stuffy Ted Knights; it's more like a Knights of Columbus. Very low key. Very affordable, even the beers at the bar.
