The restaurant was unusually quiet perhaps because of the Memorial Day weekend, It was a delight for these two diners who wanted a good and relaxing lunch experience. Our server, Ana, was friendly and prompt. I had a glass of Malbec which I enjoyed; my companion had a sauvignon blanc spritzer which she said was too sweet. She had the tuna melt, which she says is hard to find on a menu anymore, and she enjoyed it although thought the temperature was a bit lukewarm. I had the corned beef reuben, one of my favorite sandwiches, which was delicious. We both enjoyed the accompanying steak fries. Neither of us are big dessert eaters but we decided to share the puff pastry which was prepared to our instructions with just a little chocolate fudge topping and no whipped cream. The accompanying cappucino ice cream was yummy although next time I'll get vanilla which won't compete with the rest of the flavors. The pastry was a bit tough, requiring a forceful knifing to cut through. We enjoyed this return to Cafe Escadrille after quite a few years absence. Tonight we dined with Charles. From start to finish he was an above and beyond server. He in detail covered the specials went over the details of how the menu worked and discussed menu favorites with us. The food was incredible the atmosphere iconic but Charles himself is what made it. For appetizers we got deviled eggs and lamb lollipops. The lamb lollipops are non negotiable. We all got different tiers of steaks from lobster add-ons to a basic filet. Each cooked perfectly and served with a smile. The cocktails were phenomenal ending with espresso martinis all around. Sommelier Nick was amazing. He too made our dining experience. The wine we wanted was out of stock but he found us a comparable bottle and told us its origin from Greece with incredible stories of the area and his experiences across the pond. We have been 4 times in the last two years. The first was great but each time after that, one or both of us has had a complaint. The most recent ( April 2026 6:15pm) causes me to write. My large roasted chicken breast was thick , juicy and tasty. However cutting it and the baby carrots was very difficult with a butter knife. Salad was small but decent. Rolls were hard. Haddock was very small, not the price however. On the way out I spoke to the mangers and they said"you should have asked for a steak knife" and but they thought it was a good idea and would advise the staff. My first experience there was perhaps over 30 years ago and to this day they maintain the highest quality of food, service and ambience. When I wanted to impress a date, I brought her there; when I got married and lived in neighboring Wilmington I brought my wife there; then becoming single again, a new date was always happy at the Cafe Escadrille and things went well after the date... Fifteen of us had lunch today and, as usual, it was excellent. We had people join us from CA and Fl which was their first time and thought it was a memorable event. Came here on a Friday for lunch. I was by myself and noticed a much older crowd, but when I walked in the place was looking pretty busy. Since I was alone I decided to sit at the bar, also pretty full with the handful of ladies who put purses on seats like they own the place (I think bartenders to ask them not to do this) so I had sat on a small table on the side for the bar. There were two bartenders running around so I had a feeling it was going to be hard to get service at the table. Once a couple of guys checked out I moved over to their dirty seats to let the bartender know i'd make it easier for him. He cleared off the area and after helping a guy who had been waiting before me got my drink order. He didn't ask me if I wanted anything else and just gave me the check for my bourbon/coke. Unfortunately I sat there for 30 mins waiting for someone to check on him as they were others around until I put my card out to pay. As that was noticed by Holly she asked if I was just doing 1 drink, I said I wanted to do a cup a chowder but was in a rush, she was a total sweetheart and pushed my order through and I was able to enjoy the delicious clam chowder that was well worth the wait. She got me out of there just when I needed and really appreciated that. Overall I don't think they expected it to be that busy but would deff recommend getting one more person behind the bar with them. The menu looks good, a lot of swordfish options. Huge parking lot which is always a plus. And an outdoor patio area I almost asked to sit because it was so nice out, but also noticed no one else was and didn't want to do that to a server. read more

It has been an institution in the area for many years. On this Friday evening, the bar was busy. The service at the bar is attentive and timely. It had another round of people fill the bar as we sat there. The staff is just so good. While the dining area and bar may be becoming a little bit dated, the food is consistently good. The service is excellent. The drinks are typically a little bit generous, and very well crafted. Great selection at the bar. I honestly don't know how Café Escadrille is still in business. My experience here was absolutely dreadful from start to finish. The atmosphere feels stuck in the 1980s--dark, dated, and not in a charming way. Everything from the carpets to the lighting screams "wedding venue gone wrong." The service was shockingly bad. Our server disappeared for long stretches, seemed annoyed whenever we asked basic questions, and never once checked in on how our meals were. Water glasses sat empty for over half the night. And the food? Easily some of the worst I've had at these prices. The steak was rubbery and gray, not remotely close to the medium-rare I asked for. The seafood tasted like it had been sitting around all day--bland, mushy, and reeking of freezer burn. Even the bread basket was stale. For a place that charges fine dining prices, what they actually serve wouldn't pass at a diner. To top it off, management clearly doesn't care. When we politely mentioned our concerns, the response was a shrug and a dismissive "that's how we do it." No apology, no attempt to make it right. Save your money, your time, and your sanity. There are far better restaurants within a 10-minute drive that actually value their customers and know how to cook. Café Escadrille is nothing more than an overpriced relic coasting on a name it no longer deserves. read more

In many ways, Cafe Escadrille is "old reliable." The food, service, cocktails, and cleanliness are consistently great. It has a slightly nostalgic old school feel to it but remains bright and lively. My favorite menu item is the ahi tuna salad with the dressing on the side. It's unlike any other dressing I've ever had -- a little sweet, slightly mustardy, but tropical and refreshing atop the mountain of greens, fruit, cucumbers and tuna. My fiance loves the lamb tips over Greek salad. We love to mix up our appetizer order among the many offerings. They have an extensive menu with something for everyone and lots of great daily specials. Service is polite, fast, and attentive. Great spot that is often busy and for good reason :) read more

We had: escargots, lamb lolly pops, fried calamari, stuffed mushrooms, shrimp cocktail, Caesar salad, sushi deluxe entree, sea scallops, grilled salmon, duckling a l'orange. The apps were OK although the calamari had more hidden battered peppers than calamari, and the escargots were quite small. The lamb lollipops were ok although a little too well done. The salmon was overcooked and mushy despite being ordered medium/not well done! The worst dish was the duck - just awful and inedible. Told medium - but was way overcooked, mushy and swimming in nondescript sauce. With no drinks our bill for us 5 was $306 - with tip 362. Too expensive to have bad entrees. Thumbs down. read more

We didn't know what to expect with this establishment because the yelp reviews were mediocre but two family friends had recommended this restaurant, so we thought we would give it a try. And boy am I glad we did! It was a belated birthday dinner for me, and I felt like a princess! The ambiance was a mix of family friendly patrons in the main dining area and happy after work patrons at the bar area. For starters, the hostess was pleasant and seated us pretty quickly. We sat by the window and our waitress, Brenda, came right over to say hello and introduce herself. She took our drink orders and brought over fresh hot rolls and sesame crackers. We ordered some appetizers to start: the honey-pepper cauliflower (for me) and the bacon-wrapped scallops (for my mom & hubby). I was surprised how spicy the cauliflower was! I think I was thinking black pepper, not hot pepper...it was a bit too spicy for my taste, but mom & hubby really enjoyed it! They LOVED the scallops- they were LARGE scallops with just the right amount of bacon wrapping each one. For our entrées, I ordered the herbed chicken breast with mashed potatoes and swiss chard: that chicken was perfectly seasoned and so juicy and delicious. All the sides reminded me of eating a home cooked meal that was served hot off the stove and so flavorful fulfilling. Hubs ordered the petite filet mignon and baked stuffed shrimps. He was so pleased that the shrimps were so huge and tasty! He said the steak was delicious and tender and that his dish had just the right amount without overdoing it. My mom ordered the seafood fettuccine alfredo and she was shocked by the generous amount of seafood in the dish! She stated that is was so savory and delicious. All our meals came out HOT and fresh and absolutely delectable! For dessert, hubby ordered the cream puff, mom ordered the crime brûlée and I ordered the mini coconut carrot cake. We were so surprised by how large the serving sizes of the desserts were and how reasonable the pricing was for the large portions. When our waitress brought out my mini slice of cake, there were candles in it and happy birthday written on the plate! I thanked my mom and hubby, and they said it wasn't them! Brenda had that prepared for me! WOW! What an AMAZING experience at Café Escadrille! I highly recommend this establishment. The food was absolutely delicious- served in perfect timing between the apps/salads and main course and then dessert. Brenda, our waitress was incredible. She took such care of us- checked on us just the right amount- not overbearing, but very attentive. My wife and I went to the café escadrille Saturday night to celebrate my birthday. We have been coming here for over 35 years. We had an excellent dinner that evening, however when I checked the itemized bill the next day (Sunday) I noticed that the King Crab leg dinner charge was $215. 00 for just Two Crab Legs - I knew that had to be a mistake , so I called the manager on Monday (today) and told him about the price. He said that was the correct price for two crab legs - I couldn't believe it. I have never in my life been charged $215.00 for two Alaskan King Crabs in my life and to make things worse then waiter never mentioned that this was the price of that dinner. I am deeply concerned that this is how they treat their customers and will not be going back to this once outstanding restaurant. It's a shame that restaurants are ripping off people just to make extra money instead of properly managing their business. read more

I would give zero stars if it were an option. My husband organized a 60th birthday dinner for me at the Escadrille . The service and food were terrible. The server would come by every 45 minutes for drink orders, appetizers, etc. the appetizers we ordered were cold by the time they were brought to our table. We ordered dinner and it was awful. My filet was the consistency of baby food. Total mush. The server never came back to check on us after dropping the food. By the time she came by (10 minutes after my husband went to find her, but at least 45 minutes after the food was served) she offered me a new filet. By this time everyone else was done eating and honestly, I would not eat a filet there ever again. The manager came by about 20 mins later and said "he would do something". Well the something was taking that awful meal off our bill. And the he gave me a $20 gift card to come back again. I feel like more could have been done. Honestly, the experience at the Escadrille was awful and they actually made what was supposed to be a lovely birthday celebration awful. I'm hoping I don't wind up with food poisoning tonight from the little bit of the filet I did eat. I DO NOT recommend the Escadrille. Terrible service and food. read more

I hadn't been here in about 15+ years until the other day-- when we decided to go give it a try on what seemed to be a fairly busy Friday night around 7pm. Shared calamari for a starter; it was listed as Rhode Island style, but most of the cherry peppers (which were also breaded? Unusual... I think...) were not spicy, and were sweet, which was a little off putting for my taste. I ordered the shrimp scampi for my meal and he had the surf/turf option which he said was ok. The scampi was pretty good, needed more cheese and lent itself to be very lemon/tangy sauce-- the bread that accompanied it was not good. It seems like we were maybe bringing the average age down quite a bit when we stepped in there... maybe it's a good place for apps and a drink at the bar? I don't think it's for me, it may be another decade plus til I go again. Things that you might like: -Our server was very friendly, helpful, and offered suggestions and told us about upcoming live music for St Patrick's day week. -There's plenty of parking, and it's right off the highway. -According to their website they have a private event space/private room for hosting a shower or party or something. read more

Went for the first time,was at a party in a private room the food was good the service was rushed, the servers rushed you if you put down your fork they were there to take your plate or fork or glass. They would come across you with water or coffee they were on top of you. They wanted to just clear the table and leave. We felt here serving was not what it should be, cleanliness was off, her attenton was not on us, our food was left waiting covered for several minutes. We had a nice dinner at Cafe Escadrille. Ambiance is upscale with huge well stocked bar. Wine steward very knowledgeable and professional. Our server Justin was outstanding. My guest had a Caesar salad which she enjoyed. She characterized the fish special halibut with mango sauce as underwhelming and the glazed carrots way overcooked. I had the house salad which was delicious and ordered the rack of lamb for one. I wasn't happy with the lamb. Some of it was more medium than the medium rare I ordered. I actually asked for the rare side of medium rare. Other parts were well into medium. I also didn't like the taste of the "breading."
